posted 01-30-2001 19:42 EST (US) Introduce myself, introduce myself...hmmm...not sure what to say: "Cause I'm...shy." Heh, 2nd favorite line in that 3rd season ep Dopplegangland. OK, I saw BTVS the first time while switching channels during commercials a few years ago & decided it was better than what I was watching. I think it was Becoming Part 2. I don't watch Angel because I think the Scooby gang *makes* the show. And I've lurked/posted on a few boards enough to be amazed at the season 4 hatred - I didn't enjoy the Initiative/Adam storyline, but it was a great year for Aly/Willow. And, yes, I *knew* something was up when Tara clasped hands with Willow to move that pop machine: I got a warm quiver in my stomach and thought "Are they (TPTB) gonna do what I think they're gonna do?" Yeah, baby! You see, whenever I watch an ensemble show, I *expect* that at least one of the characters will be gay or bi or questioning or transitioning. If it isn't shown, I pick a likely one & wait. This attitude started when I wrote a paper in college on The Appearance Of Gay Characters In American Television. At the time there were only two. Now there are too many for me to be a one-pup GLAAD anymore, so I'm farming the work out to others (Will & Grace, ER, etc). I just try to keep up on stuff, due to my love/hate relationship with mass media, and watch what seems interesting. [This message has been edited by BlackLab (edited January 30, 2001).] |
