To everyone: sorry no update, but I'm working on it...in my head, at least. I'll try to get cranking on it asap, since (courtesy of my awesome wife!) I now have a brand spanking new laptop! Woot!

Just found this fic, and wow. just wow. I love how the transition between then and now is so seamless. It feels as if we the audience are right there in step with WT, knowing all that history, yet eager to see what the future holds. I also really like your emphasis on relational feelings without getting bogged down in the mechanics of such. Expanding that by giving both points of view really fills out the story.

Willow's realization about Sheila...its a wierd thing to turn that mental corner and see your parents as people, not the beings of the various stages of your youth. That's one of the most fascinating things on Pens, is the various explanations for Willow's relationship to her parents, and their relationship to each other. By extension, its just as neat to see all the variations on canon's vague backstories or where authors have gone beyond supplement and completely changed it.
