Hey Rally,

Just wanted to drop a line and tell ya how much I'm enjoying all the vids you have produced. ;)

Also I tend to get the MPG versions as they are able to be burned to VCD. However the last 2 you have made, the zip files have been corrupted somehow and state they are not real zip files and can not be opened. (no matter how many times I try to download it) :( So I've been forced to get the RM files.

I'm not sure if anyone else is haveing this problem or not, so I thought I'd let ya know.

Tulipp - Not going to the con, just my vids. Perhaps if I had learned about the con sooner I could have attended. Maybe next year. I have been trying to really dig hard for clips lately and use some new ones. I think the Willow clip you were asking about, may be the from Smashed when she is looking out the window? If that's not the one you meant, just let me know what she is doing and I can identify it for you.

hush30 - I highly recommend music video torture on the tv, it's great fun.

saphire tear - Thanks!

TrueXena - Corrupt zip files means the file didn't download properly on your end. Also, not only I am being forced to shorten the amount of time I can offer the mpgs, I am going to have put a stop the rm files and go to wmf. The diskspace and bandwidth charges are becoming an issue for me. Either that or start rotating what I offer, the more videos I have the more space becomes an issue.

Well officially, of course, I have to say that I have no idea what you're talking about.

Rally, it's not the one where she's looking out the window, although I noticed that one, too. It's in the first several seconds, and there's a woman who looks like Anya kind of leaning over; Willow is on the right hand side of the screen, and this woman leans over her from the left. I'm thinking "The Wish," but I'm not sure. Does that help at all?

Family (T), TabRas (T), TabRas (W), Grave (WX), Two To Go (WR), Seeing Red (Wa), SR (T), SR (XB), Restless (T), Smashed (W), NMR (WT), All The Way (WT), TabRas (WT), Dead Things (T), Restless (T), Restless (WT), Villians (W), Two To Go (W), TTG (XD), Villians (W), Barg 1 (WT), Normal Again (WT), Family (WT), WAY (WT), Out Of My Mind (WT), OMWF (WT), Forever (WT), Tough Love (WT), Entropy (WT), Entropy (WT), Checkpoint (WTXA), Normal Again (WT), All The Way (WT), Normal Again (WT), Entropy (WT), Seeing Red (WTD), SR (WTBD), SR (WT).

See I so need to do this for every vid. ;)

I hope you didn't do that play by play just for me, because I am clearly BLIND! But thanks; that helped so much. It was the clip with Rack and Willow, and I think I didn't recognize it because she just looked so young, like the season 2 version of herself, you know? But that makes that clip all the more poignant because I saw again--and it hurts again--how much DMW was still our Willow, young and scared and desperate.

So moving. I'm a total dork for not seeing it before. Thanks.

Heheh, no problem, I have been meaning to do breakdowns of all the clips for each video because I do get the occassional question about a clip. Just one of the things I have been putting off. But I do finally have lyrics up for all the songs on my website. So clip breakdowns are next.

Looking at that clip, I guess it's not very clear that it is Rack she is with. So if you haven't seen the episode, as a lot of folks around here have not. I can understand where you might not know that scene.

Not to be depressing or anything, but I used to love “Wherever You Will Go,” and ever since Tara’s death I cannot listen to that song. I don’t mean I choose not to listen – I mean I physically cannot listen. For some reason, in my mind that song came to symbolize all the pain of Tara dying and leaving Willow behind, and it’s such a shame because it’s a wonderful song, and I wish I could enjoy it again. Sorry, I felt the need to share. :shy

On a happier note, I love your videos, Rally. Every time I hear ‘Amber’ by 311 on the radio, I have to go home and watch your video – it’s so wonderful and has so much Tara goodness. Thanks again for your creations, and much congrats on Vividcon! :)

Rally, I'm still in the process of downloading and viewing all your vids, but just wanted to chime in with the rest and say how AMAZING they are! You are so talented! The latest one, "Wherever You Will Go", is wonderful. I really like that song. The literal imagery of the clips used on the lines "way up high, or down low" is one of my favorite parts. Of the other videos I've seen, I'm partial to "Hero", "The Middle", and "Somewhere Out There".

On a related note, if you're having space issues with your server, I could host some vids for you. I've got plenty of space and no traffic restrictions (or so they say; I guess we'll find out). Drop me a line if you're interested. Hope to see more videos from you soon! Congratulations on getting into Vividcon!

AmberBensonRockzMyWorld - Thanks, you won't have to wait long.

Scout - I had so many folks tell me this song reminded them of Willow and Tara. Even my roommate, who is only slightly into Buffy thought I should use this song for a video. I feel very strongly about the song Somewhere Out There, to me that song is strongly identified with W/T to me.

Pipsqueak - Glad you enjoy them, I glad you liked the up high and down load. I always try to have the clips be meaningful to the song, picking those clips was one of my favorite parts of this song.

I could definetly at least email you and find out who you are hosted by, I don't mind shuffling my domain to a new provider. When I first got my webspace I had 4 videos, now I have 21 and no end in sight.

At any rate thanks everyone for the wonderful feedback this go round. You won't have to wait long for the next one. I was struck by inspiration at work yesterday and have nearly completed my next video. Should be up in a few hours.

Wonderland by John Mayer

Postby Rally » Fri Aug 16, 2002 3:29 pm

Ok, I am not going to say to much about this video as of yet. I consider it to be very experimental in nature. While most of you are probably cringing at that, I should answer the following question:

Q: How much angst and torture are we in for this time Rally?

A: Zero, zero much. (Like ya'll believe me, you will have to find out for yourself.)

The actual song title is Your Body Is A Wonderland by John Mayer and yes it's yet another song that you never heard of yet. Few weeks, you will be hearing it on the radio. Guess that is enough blabbing for now, links in the top post.

Oh and check out my website for lyrics and such.

Feedback welcome, as always.

Rally, I love your videos... just so you know, in the first message of the thread, the link to the wonderland video is wrong... should be wonderland_rm.zip, not wherever_rm.zip... and the mpeg one is off too...

When I have restarted my brain and managed to get my jaw off the floor and mop up the drool your vids cause... some more useful praise will be forthcoming... *grin*

Also let me add, woo and hoo, new low bandwitdth versions of all videos will be going up this weekend. Starting with the newer videos and working back to the older ones.

Just watched your Wherever You Will Go vid. It was beautifully done & made me all melancholy. I'm a sucker for that song anyway, and have often used parts of it as my sig. line. From the first time I heard it I thought it told their story, as if it was written for them & what happened. The end being what we wish could happen.

Now you've done it! I finally got the time to get to your site and download a couple, err, all of your videos. Excellent, excellent and excellent.

Now, if you'll just sign this little note telling my clients that I was sick, yeah, sick, all day and I couldn't get anything done. Oh, and you might want to sign the other one telling my service provider that I didn't go well over my transfer allotment for this month.

Seriously though, you're awesome. These were all great insight into the characters and relationships and the songs were so right. It amazed me that with the limited amount of good screen time W/T got, you were able to portray each video in a different light.

Can't wait for the next one. That is, unless my provider kicks me off.

Wonderland by John Mayer

witchbitchwillow - Aly is always good for a much needed tongue shot. ;) Tell your Dad that it's for a good cause.

BethanyB3 - Wherever You Will Go seems to be touching a cord with a lot folks, lyrically. All the more reason I should have used it. It reminds people of Tara and Willow.

Liz - Not much I can say to you video wise, so I will just repeat, glad you made it to the lone star state in one piece.

tiredsoul - I love your nick, because it reminds me of my favorite song right now. It's bad enough I spend my days at work updating my website, it's a good thing I can't make videos at work. It would be good for you all, because I would have tons, but bad for me, because I wouldn't get anything done.

pikachu1060 - Once in a while, not often, I can do cute.

Xita - Glad to get you back in the fold. Nothing like that girl on girl action to get your attention. ;)

This was a real sweet effort. I enjoyed it a lot. Esp the choices for "take all your big plans and break them" and LOL the downward OMWF glance at "you tell me where to go".

Nice work!

Is that "Somewhere Out There" you're referring to? Excellent vid by you and my favorite one. I didn't notice the lyric until you mentioned it but it gave me a good reason to watch it again and again.

And hey, isn't work where you're supposed to get that stuff done. I never would have graduated college if I hadn't done my homework there.

Oh. My. God.

I am TOTALLY in love with "Wonderland". Rally, this is a fabulous vid. I was cracking up at the "bubblegum tongue" line/clip! All the scenes matched perfectly with the lines of the song, and what a cool song at that. I really love that you did a video that focuses on the sensual, physical aspect of the W/T relationship, since we never really got to see much of that onscreen (aside from the obligatory sex-before-death in SR). Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

P.S. I got my web space from http://www.hostik.com. Great prices, considering the large amount of space (the smallest plan has 600 MB) and unlimited traffic. I shopped around for a couple days before committing to anything, and IMO they have the best deal out there for large-file, heavy-download content like yours and mine.

:bounce yay John + Willow & Tara.... :clap :clap I'm a bit a of a John Mayer fan

awesome video, it really fit the song...and a bit of a reclaiming for me - I was listening to "room for squares" a lot during season 6, and ended up having to put it away for a while - I was beginning to associate it with badness.

of course, now I'm just hoping that you'll do a vid to a Glen Phillips song, but that might be wishful thinking.

Okay, Rally, you've just totally made my day, my week, my universe. Just watched Wonderland, and it's absolutely a pure shot of sweet joy. Hands down my favorite W/T video of all time. :)

It's the first time since the horror began than I've been able to just sit and watch clips of them without feeling like there's a bowling ball in my stomach, or like I might cry. To just sit and feel the W/T love and grin. I'm getting that back, my ability to do that, inch by inch. Thanks for helping. :)

Heh. And now I have something to watch to get me in the right frame of mind to work on this new fic of mine...

tiredsoul - Yes definetly referring to Somewhere Out There, it's my favorite too.

Pipsqueak - Glad you like the new video, I really wanted to do something different and see how much sexual innuendo I could cram into this vid. Thanks for the hosting info too, I will check them out.

dulcinea - I have actually been working on another John Mayer song for a while now, but just don't have all the clips I need. So this song gave me a great chance to finally get to showcase him. As for a Glen Phillips song, I am afraid I am not familiar with him, so chances are not very likely.

Jho - Glad I could help. It actually felt good to work on a non angsty vid for the first time in a long time.

Ruth - So nice to have you back. I knew if I attempted a slightly smutty video that all the ho's would come back to me.

dearest rally... sigh... i wanted to thank you for this last video you made. i love this john mayer song and i was waiting to see if you'd use it. :) i feel some sort of closure here now with the whole w/t buffyverse crap we were put through. seeing all these beautiful clips, especially all the kisses and loving showed me that we at least a had a beautiful realtionship to relate to and admire even though it was horribly ripped apart for a stupid story arc. i've said before how even watching reruns has lost its thrill for me but this video surely didn't. i love it and i feel like i never need to watch another buffy ep ever. w/t were the truest thing on the show and you relayed it beautifully. thanks
