Disclaimer – Willow and Tara and any other character that appeared in the syndicated television show “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” is property of Joss and Mutant Enemy, I’m only borrowing them and am not making any money off them. Summary – Set slightly in the future, 24-year-old Willow and Tara run into each other, it’s set mostly in New York so no Sunnydale or hell mouth or anything. Just good ol’ fashioned romance.
Part 22 (I love you always forever – Donna Lewis)Tara stuffed the box back in her pocket after being cleared by airport security, she quickly turned around and smiled, waving a brief goodbye, not even thinking about what her pulling the box out might have her friends thinking. Tara was on such a high at the moment, the thought of seeing her sweetie later in the day was fuelling her blissful happiness. She was really glad that she would be spending her anniversary with her girlfriend.
Alex, Claire and Hayley were all dumbfounded. Tara had intricately described what her plans for the evening were and neither of them had been told about a cube shaped velvet box that Tara was obviously carrying. They all thought it very un-Tara like to try something sneaky like that, though they all agreed it would be wondrously romantic. On the way home, many discussions were had onto how Tara would pose the question to Willow, and if it all went down, how would it go down.
… … … …
Tara sat fidgety on the plane flight, willing the pilot to test out the speed limit of the plane on this particular flight. The trip from New York to Florida was long enough but the constant howling of the young child behind her, drove Tara to despair. She tried sleeping, reading, even watching the on flight entertainment. It amazed her as to how you could be travelling at 1500mp/h and seem like you’re going so slow.
The flight continued to drag on, even the sight of the unbelievably cute flight attendant failed to make an impression on Tara’s mind. The young woman only had one thing imbued on her brain, and that was seeing her amazingly wonderful redhead, waiting in Florida.
Tara was as fidgety as ever, she couldn’t even sit still in her seat, and on one of her regular checks of her pockets she noticed the small box missing. She jumped up frantically, madly searching around for her box. This caught the attention of some of the other passengers as she frantically searched the nearby area.
“Excuse me miss, what exactly are you looking for?” A middle-aged gent asked, wanting to offer his aid to the young lady in need.
“I’m looking for a small box, it’s really important to me, so if you could help that would be really appreciated.” Tara frantically replied, not giving up her search for a second to look at and acknowledge the man who offered assistance.
“Would this be it?” The man asked as he noticed something caught in between the two chairs and pulled out the velvet box that Tara had been carrying.
“Oh yes, thank you, thank you.” Tara replied, grasping the man in a bear hug to show her appreciation. As she did this, the man took the moment to open the box and appraise the piece of jewellery.
“It’s a beautiful ring, may I ask who it’s for?” The man asked as Tara pulled away from the hug and the man handed her the box.
“It’s for someone very special to me.” Tara replied as she deeply looked at the ring in front of her.
“Would this special someone be a man you’re about to ask to marry?” The man chirpily guessed at what he obviously thought it was for.
“No, I mean it’s not to say its not an engagement ring, it’s just not for a him.” Tara finished her words and looked up at the man, she saw a very understanding smile in return.
“I’m sure you two will be quite happy.” The man stated, holding his understanding look at the young woman.
“We will.” Tara answered happily, as she thought of her love, which she’d be seeing, in just a few mere hours.
… … … …
“Alex what do you mean you haven’t seen her, I’ve called our place for like the two hours and nothing, you have to have seen her.” Willow anxiously grumbled into the receiver, desperate to get in contact with her beloved Tara.
“Calm down Will, maybe she’s working back, maybe someone from work has taken her out to help cheer her up. Don’t stress, I’m sure she’ll be in touch with you soon.” Alex tried his best to calm the flustered redhead down. He looked at his watch and expected Tara to be landing in Florida anytime now, he wasn’t completely sure but she may have already touched down.
“How can you say that, be so calm, New York is a big scary place for someone like Tara, anything could’ve happened.” A panicked Willow practically shouted through the phone.
“Willow, Tara’s been here a year, I think she knows how to look after herself, she’s a big girl remember?” Alex continued to try and rationalise with the redhead, it seemed impossible to calm her down at the moment though.
“Look I know Alex, it’s just tomorrow being our anniversary and all I wanted to really talk to her tonight and I… y’know figured maybe she’d want the same.” Willow’s tone softened considerably as her panic died down. Suddenly a knock at the door interrupted her conversation with Alex.
“Just a sec Alex.” Willow quickly spoke into the phone before shouting out to her roomie for time being, “Sam, someone’s at the door you mind getting that.” Willow waited for Sam’s response before resuming her conversation with Alex.
“I’m in the tub Will, you’ll have to get it.” Sam’s voice could be heard coming from the bathroom as Willow groaned and started walking towards the door.
“Just a sec Alex, I’m just checking…” Her words were cut short, upon opening the door she was engulfed in the most passionate of embraces from her love. The phone quickly hit the floor and that’s pretty much when Alex got the idea things were okay. He simply smiled to himself and hung up, truly happy for his two friends.
Back in the room, Willow had been forced to the couch as Tara straddled her lover furiously as their tongues clashed in a heated passion rivalled by none. Willow’s slender fingers twirled in Tara’s golden locks, holding the blonde close to her lips, vowing silently to never let her go.
Sam came out of the bathroom with a robe wrapped around her, wondering what the commotion was out here, hearing the drop of the phone and all. She saw two heads mashed together on the couch as looked on as confused as ever.
“Willow?” Sam asked cautiously, not quite sure what in the hell was going on. Suddenly the two heads on the couch slowly started to part and Sam could start to make out the features of Tara’s face.
“Tara?” Sam asked from her spot just behind the couch, as she continued to watch the two bodies slowly untangle from each other.
“Hey.” Tara finally managed to speak; her lips apart from Willow’s barely long enough to speak the solitary word she spoke.
“What are you doing here, is Claire here?” Sam lightened excitedly at the thought of seeing her girlfriend, hoping that her and Tara had decided on giving her and Willow a little surprise. Tara pulled back and the look on her face instantly quelled the enthusiasm in Sam’s movement.
“Sorry Sam, she couldn’t get time of on short notice, the only reason I’m here is because Dr. Linda believes I’m in no condition to attend work these next few days.” Tara meekly smiled and offered her condolences to a heartbroken Sam.
“It’s okay, you guys have fun, I’m just going to call her and you know talk all night.” She let out a laugh to let them know she’d be okay, it was the first real sign that Willow had seen of Sam really missing Claire, not that Sam hated being away from her, she just seemed to be taking it on the chin until now.
After Sam had taken the phone into her room, Tara gently began kissing Willow’s lips, at first she was a bit unresponsive because of Sam but the fact Tara’s lips were on hers soon took over and a smile crept back to her face.
“I believe you were sick missy, you kissing me could lead to the spreadage of several germs, I could get sick.” Willow smirked as Tara continued to plant loving kisses along Willow’s lips.
“I’m counting on it.” Tara grinned as she tenderly pulled Willow’s bottom lip in between her teeth.
“Oh so you want me to get sick now?” Willow questioned her girlfriend with a sense of mock accusation.
“Uh huh.” Tara mumbled and nodded at the same time, managing somehow to keep her lips attached to those of the bubbly redhead.
“So what would be your planning behind this mischievous scheme of yours then Miss Maclay?” Willow quiked an eyebrow; question her girlfriend’s undoubtably evil scheme.
“Well if your sick, it just means that you need plenty of bed-rest and you know how tempting it is when I use your name and the word “bed” in a sentence together.” Tara smirked as she rattled out her evil plan and made her intensions of having her way with the redhead quite clear.
*Cough, Cough * Willow feigned sickness and let out a sly grin as Tara got up and sighed.
“See, I’ve gone and gotten you all sick now. Looks like we’ll have to get you to bed now missy.” Tara was using her best fake, disappointed tone she could muster. Willow sported a very pleased grin, her tongue poking slightly between her teeth in the way that cute way that she so often did. Tara scooped her in her arms and carried her off to the bedroom that wasn’t currently being used by Sam and led her over to the bed.
“This is your room right sweetie?” Tara asked making sure she was in the right spot.
“How is it you always know how to find my bed?” Willow grinned and Tara smirked at the response, Tara layed Willow down on the bed and gently covered the redhead’s body with her own, pulling her in for a passionate embrace as they started making up for lost time.
