I didn't think I'm allowed to create a new topic for this so I put it here:Three's apparently company for Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thornton.
The celebrity fun couple are making a go at parenthood, having just adopted a baby boy. The news comes courtesy of Jolie's dad, Jon Voight, who dropped the bombshell Monday at the annual Oscar nominees luncheon.
"Angelina adopted a Cambodian baby," said Voight, who's up for Best Supporting Actor for Ali. "I'm a grandfather today."
Voight said his 25-year-old daughter received custody of the child Sunday in Africa, where she is currently shooting Beyond Borders. Thornton, 46, is in the States, according to Voight, who did not mention the child's name or vital statistics.
Calls to the couple's representatives were not immediately returned.
This would be the first child for the tattoo-friendly twosome. The Oscar winners met while playing marrieds in 1999's Pushing Tin and tied the knot a year later in a no-frills insta-ceremony on the Las Vegas Strip (it was his fifth matrimonial go-round, her second). Thornton also has two sons and a daughter from his previous marriages.
Last August, Jolie was appointed United Nations goodwill ambassador, charged with focusing worldwide attention on the plight of refugees.
The actress joined the cause while working on her 2001 summer blockbuster, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, during which she visited refugee camps in Sierra Leone and Cambodia--which may provide a clue to the adoption.
It's also a theme of her current project, Beyond Borders, the story of two humanitarian aid workers who repeatedly meet and eventually fall in love while they visit the sites of disasters and war. The film is slated for release next year.
She'll next be seen in Life, or Something Like It, a supernatural romance costarring Edward Burns due out April 26.
Thornton, who picked up considerable critical acclaim (but no Oscar nod) for his roles in last year's The Man Who Wasn't There and Monster's Ball, has two indie films coming out soon in limited release: Waking Up in Reno and Behind the Badge.
