12 step support for the spoiler-free

Wolfie I think I may be with you (rather than getting satellite simply to watch S6)... only problem with the boxsets is a three month wait between Ep 11 and 12 and then just when you get to see 6.22 everyone in the US is building up to 7.1 and everything starts all over again.

"I shall not be a ho" (repeated ad infinitum) though I knew I could avoid the pics for long so I steeled myself found them strangely easy on the eye!

Hang on. I started all of this? It's nice to get credit where credit is due but I can claim neither responsibility, nor purity of effort. I believe drlloyd started this thread. I didn't even start posting until page 2!

I have a confession to make. Yesterday I toddled into the chat room and was exposed to much spoilerish converstion. Several points need to be made. Firstly I had totally forgotten until I got there that the premiere was yesterday. (Yes I know, it's hard to believe but I had lots of other things on my mind.) Secondly I was tired and miserable and I just wanted to hang around a friendly converstion for a bit and I usually find the chat room a good place for that. Thirdly, I was warned as soon as I got there that there were major spoilers about and I chose to stay. (I utterly refuse to try and allow my mere presence to stifle spoiler-like converstions. If I don't want to hear then I should be the one to change my behaviour. Not anyone else.) Having said that I also want to say this. The reason I spend on this board isn't because of the Buffy information or all the Willow/Tara goodness. (Although them in themselves would be ample reasons.) I hang out here because I enjoy the company. I like having all you kittens to exchange views and jokes and friendly banter with. For some inexplicable reason I've gotten kinda fond of you guys. I am not going to let the spoiler issue spoil that.

Having waxed overly serious I will now wax overly silly. Katharyn, if it really means so much to you then I will stay away from all transcripts until you yourself give me clear permission to read them. I pledge my sworn word on it and you know how I feel about that. (Call it an early birthday present or a late easter gift, whichever fits better.)

I took a good look at the new pics below and once I had recovered from my mental breakdown, picked my jaw up from the floor and got my synaptic connections back into some form of order, I decided that I had absolutely no problem with seeing them. I could look at them all day. (And may well do so!)

Oh no Kerry, you want to read transcripts then you read them by all means!

And I meant by you "starting all this" that you seem to have picked up the spoiler free banner with the greatest fervour as I recall without re-reading the thread...

Okay, Dr G, well, thanks for pointing out that I've just entered that nasty club of the spoilers, not just the spoiled - Doh. Yep, that rhythmic thudding is my forehead colliding with my desk. Not too chipper, eh?

I get your point, too, Forrister - my view of the kitten board, too!

i was doing a good job of keeping my virtue until the beginning of last season when i started freaking out about what might happen in the upcoming big Tara ep (Family) and then, after i was spoiled, i so wished i wasn't. that taught me once and for all to trust in Joss.

i can't imagine that this amazing ep, S6E1 (Bargaining) would have been nearly as good if i'd been spoiled. which reminds me, i am so totally pissed at that stupid bint Wanda who not only totally snubbed Amber in the recent Buffy Returns special on E!, it was also one huge spoiler for "Bargaining" yet there were absolutely no warnings.

Katharyn, are you trying to drive me screaming into the arms of temptation?

Knowing that my word is significantly stronger than my willpower I was planning on using it to hold out for a bit. Party-pooper! Your failure to co-operate has put a massive dint in my operating plans. Sigh.

Ah well, once more into the breach dear friends, once more! Or fill up the walls with our unspoiled dead!

I will raise the barricades, hoist a pair of bloomers with an Aussie flag motif up the pole and play my tape of 'Les Miserables'. Mind, if I don't get support (and the occasional treat) I'm going to go awol and eat every block of cheese in the building.

Well, I've been sitting behind the barricades for nearly two days now. I've run out of toast and I'm down to my last piece of cheese.

Please send supplies!!!! Send letters of support!!! Send Amber in tight leather pants and that wolfie shirt! (Ok, I know this last one is a bit of an ask but the first two should be simple enough.)

Thanks to the occasional drop in visitor. It makes the time go faster. I'm reduced to playing one handed whist with half a dog-eared tarot deck I found in the rubble. I was just forced to put a pentacle down on a cup. I think it means that I'm all out of wands.

I never really thought of how that would look to someone trying to stay spoiler- free. "Multimedia Thread" - it sounds like were hiding Flash presentations or PowerPoint slide shows or some other type of audio/visual delights there doesn't it?

Sorry we make it so hard on you guys. Be brave and stay strong. I find inspiration in seeing this thread alive and well, and full of spoiler-free people.

Day Three.

No sign of a relief column. Supplies exhausted. Suffering from caffine deprivation. Need coke.

A small white rat ate my last bit of cheese. I caught the rat and I'm going to make it a little rat harness and keep it as a pet. I think I'll call it 'Bitofluff'.

I thought I saw a Scout in the distance yesterday. It's getting hard to tell. I occasionally see Amber floating across the battlements but I know that she isn't real because her ears just don't look right and the leather pants are a particularly nauseating shade of pink.

Day 5

No end in sight. Absolutely nothing in sight. I get the feeling that I've been abandoned by those who sent me here. Well, almost. I still have Bitofluff. He's pretty cool for a rat. I wonder where he got those teeny tiny sunglasses? I've given up calling to see if there is anybody out there. I'll ask Amber and Aly next time they float over, (if they aren't otherwise engaged in naughty smoochie bits that is.)

Water ran out last night. I collected the early morning dew from my upturned trench helmet and was going to drink that but Bitofluff got there first.

[Thinks to self, 'Rat on a stick'. Hmmmm, chewy. But realises that if I spit roast Bitofluff I'll have no one to tell me stories.]

Last week I discovered that I like avoiding the wildfeed and Canadian broadcast synopses. The TV Guide spoilers and location shoot information are tempting and teasing, but they're sparse and vague enough to leave plenty of surprises in the actual show.

As for the rumors and advance spoiler-info... I'm still undecided on them. The spoiler sources are getting too good at their job...

I wouldn't want to be trying to hold out until a UK or Australian broadcast, though. Yikes...

Forrister,

I am so sorry that you've been left alone for so long.

*hands over duffle bag full of cheese, bread, wine, fruit and chocolate*

Hey, if we're going to be here for a while, might as well make it pleasant.

I was off galavanting around college campuses last week hanging posters for an upcoming production so...I have a reason for being away so long. I am happy to say that I am COMPLETELY UNSPOILED for Ep 3. As I stated in an earlier post, the best cure for spoiler hos is to be too busy to check the spoilers.

Hope these supplies are satisfactory.

Oops...forgot to tell you, there's some water, soap and deodorant in there too. Along with a change of clothes and a blanket. I thought you might be tired of wearing the same thing. Of course, all I could find were horrid articles of clothing akin to Xander's wardrobe. Sorry.

*Drops into the spoiler free trench beside Kerry and Princess Willow and delivers enough junk food to carry us through the next week along with back-episodes by the bundle*

Well that is a week. I have ducked out of every thread that even had a hint of a spoiler in there (thanks for the good labelling everyone and the spoiler spaces where it hasn't been labelled) and can honestly say that other than the wonderful pics that are not at the bottom of each thread I am 100% non-spoiled.

Best Case 12 more weeks before 6.1 - if I buy an entire satellite system to watch one show that I am going to buy on VHS then DVD anyway...
Most Likely Case 33 weeks (assuming the VHS release date is the same as for S5)

And I know I am not the worst off by a long way... but you can all do it. We can all do it if we stick together.

First one out of this trench for anything other than a televised episode in your own country gets shot in the back.

Now there is a cheery thought to motivate you. Have a snack...

I think what it comes down to is whether you're a ho or not. Spoilers are irrelevant. It's the ho-ish nature that counts. And you guys? You just don't have what it takes to be a ho...mwahahaha. Yes, I taunt you with my cheap perfume and gratuitous baring of naked flesh. That's right. I'm a ho. And damned proud of it too. And er...I can't stop reading the spoilers. I. Can't. Stop.

Day ... I have no idea what day it is. AND I DON'T CARE!!!!

Party, Party, Party!!!! The relief column is here!! Huzzah!
[Forrister trots out a set of bagpipes and plays a rousing chorus of Cam' Ye Oer Frae France?']

I love you guys. (goes to give hugs all round but catches a whiff of one's own body odor and has a wash first - then gives hugs all round.)

Here Katharyn. (Puts rat on her shoulder) - Bitofluff can sit on your shoulder and whisper naughty stories in your ear. Here Princess. (Gives Princess Willow a spare trench helmet painted in a little daisy motif.)

Katharyn I have to insist that you put that gun away - this trench is a gun free zone. (I really hate anything that goes 'bang') Here have this 150lb hand cranked crossbow armed with armour piercing, bodkin pointed bolts instead! I'll even tighten the ropes on the catapult if you want something big to play with.
[make note to self - never stand in front of a pom armed with a crossbow!]

I can see that I am going to have to enlarge this trench. (Perhaps I'll put in a second bathroom and a sun lounge.) I can see we may be here for a while.

Thanks to everyone else who dropped by to say hello. Ruth did you have to donate your cold to the cause? It's a good thing I can type because my voice has left me entirely.

Postby BBOvenGuy » Mon Oct 08, 2001 12:48 pm

What always gets me is when there's something hanging in the air and I've got to find out how it's going to turn out.

With Babylon 5 it seemed like we were on constant character-death-watch. Plus Joe Straczynski would say things on the USEnet or at conventions and everyone would be scrambling to figure out what he meant. Since Joe wrote almost the entire series himself and had story arcs spanning multiple years in his head, you never knew when he was planting a seed for something and when it would pay off.

I wasn't all that interested in Buffy spoilers until Tara came along, and then I had to know whether or not Joss was really going to put Tara and Willow together. Once he did that, there was still Tara's secret to worry about, and after that was done the next thing you knew Tara was getting brain-sucked.

Now...? Well, there are rumors in the air about Willow and about Tara and there's uncertainty because Amber's still not in the credits and... you know what? I'm beginning to think it's not worth it. Whatever happens is still going to happen whether I know about it in advance or not. So this year I'm trying to whet my appetite with mini-spoilers and location shoots, and I'll see if that's enough.

Besides, now I've got my own stories to write, and I can try to do things that will make future readers want their spoiler fixes from me. Mwahahahahaha....

Oooh, willpower crisis.

[Forrister rummages around in the ol' war chest.]
- pair of knickers
- 'nother pair of knickers
[must send out reminder about throwing more knickers]
- worn picture of Amber in wolfie shirt complete with drool marks
- old 45 record of the nun song. (Dominique, nique, nique!)
- leather work kit
- stock whip
- half a water buffalo hide
- six foot of welded steel chain

[Forrister takes chain, hide, and leatherworking kit and cobbles together a set of really neat wrist and ankle restraints. She lines them with rolled up knickers because there is no sheepskin.)

Here you go Princess! Enjoy! Oh and don't walk in front of Katharyn, I have no idea how good she is with that crossbow and I wouldn't like to find out.

Waits until Princess puts on her restraints and then tops up her glass and feeds her canapes and cheesy toast. (Gives self a few wacks to supress naughty thoughts.) Prys crossbow from Katharyn's fingers and feeds her wine and cheesy toast.

I do so love a good party!
