12 step support for the spoiler-free

Postby xita » Sun Sep 30, 2001 8:10 am

I have never woken up on Wednesday and thought, I wish i hadn't been spoiled. It's like I can get excited 2 times about it. Once on Wildfeed the again when finally seeing it. To be honest I have more of a problem with knowing accurate long term spoilers than knowing complete spoilers for an episode that airs in a couple of days.

Since the end of last year some long term spoilers have been too accurate. In the past there were so many false ones you couldn't trust any source. I enjoyed that a lot more. I don't think I can give up the wildfeed but I might kinda like to give up long term spoilers. It's hard though when you moderate.

I've sent my evil minions on a panty raid to the spoiler thread. They should be back soon with loads of panties for all.

Hang on, here they are now! So how did did go, guys? What? No panties?. No striptease? NO ELIZA? (That's probably because Ruth has already negotiated a time share deal with Dreiser.)

Well, don't you just love that. Go to all the trouble of hiring the Four Horsemen for a panty raid and there's no knickers for the nicking. (Yes Famine, you still get paid. Oh, and tell Disease to lay off the plague - he's beginning to pong.)

It is. It is just you. You're deluded. Here, take my panties, take my friggin' pants or whatever, just don't be all smug and spoiler free. Bah.

Have to say, I was spoiled for all of last season and honestly, it didn't ruin my watching of the episodes. I think in some ways, especially for episodes like Tough Love it helped. I opened the fridge the other day and saw some applesauce. Fair brought a tear to my eye, did that.

*groan*

I just realized that, because the St. Louis Cardinals are getting into the playoffs (yay), channel 11 will be preempting Buffy for a baseball game this week. Here I was all ready to see the season premere day after tomorrow, and now I have to wait until Saturday! How am I supposed to avoid spoilers NOW?? Rats.

At the end of "Bargaining," we find out that Buffy never really died - it was all in Willow's dream and Glory is still alive, Dawn is still the Key and Tara is still brainsucked.

This one's for you, Spuckie! Thanks for visiting the spoiler thread!

If you think that I'm going to be spoiler free for another five months you are monumentally mistaken. I have given this considerable thought and although the path of stoic righteousness is the higher path I tend to get rather nervous standing on the edge of artificially created heights.

I have therefore come to a considered decision. In order to still show my face around the kitten board and have something to talk to you all about I'm going to wait until I can read the episode (as in good transcript with descriptions) and then wallow in spoilerdom. I feel that while I may get to read the story I can still have the fun of seeing if the film is as good as the book. I'm sorry if this disappoints anyone but as a paragon of virtue I'm as pure as the driven slush.

Spuckie, I am so sorry that you find yourself temporarily pantiless. I am therefore returning this pair to you. I only had it in the pocket where I keep my pliers and hole punch.

Why is everyone picking on me? I'm harmless! (Mostly.)
[Forrister puts on trusty trench helmet with the addition of fashionable red, white, and black feathery plumes.]

It isn't going to work you know. You simply don't understand. I have patience in abundance. (Dealing with kids and obstreperous adults will do that to you eventually.) I will not be spoiled until I choose to be spoiled and no lame temptation is going to beat me.

As I said previously, I'm hanging out for a good written version and I hereby give my word of honour that when I read that first transcript I'll dash right over to the spoiler thread and tell you so. Then you can indulge in ritual gloating and laughing at me and I will nip back here to remain spoiler free for the next episode to come out in text.
[Forrister turns around and does the ever popular 'Sarah Marie Bum Dance' in the general direction of the spoiler thread.]

Hmm, I'm looking back through this thread and it looks like there's only a few truly spoiler-free folks posting here, but I'm glad to add my name to the list anyway.

I'm really worked up about watching the premier tonight and I have a lot of positive feelings about it. From the preview commercials it looks like there's going to be some great scenes for Willow and Tara both as individuals and as a couple. And I can't tell you how much I'm excited to see just how Buffy's going to come back and what shape she's going to be in and how long it will take her to get somewhat back to normal. And I can't wait to see how Willow in particular is going to deal with having her friend back from the dead.

So anyone else out there who's going spoiler-free, just know that I'm right there with you going into the great unknown with a 2-hr ep (!!!2 whole hrs!!!). I'm sure there's going to be plenty of surprises!

No one in my whole area gets UPN. And I got called in to work. But when she called back to double check, my mom told her that I left to go to my aunt's house 45 minutes away to watch "some show" so now I must remain in hiding. Plus she will think I'm a bitch (like I care, I'll be moving soon I hope) and on top of that I STILL can't watch Buffy tonight unless I really go to my aunt's house, if they have the channel there. My neighbor has digital cable and he doesn't get it either. Life sucks. I can't wait til I am in Cali. Now I have to stay away from the Kitten til I see the ep to avoid knowing what happens. Damn the life of the Spoiler Free. Damn it!

Good bye sweet world. Or something.

I don't know if it qualifies as "Fully Spoiler-Free", but I plan to do my best to stay unspoiled the entire season, with the exception of:
-TV Guide-style episode descriptions
-Non-plot-divulging W/T moments that I get from those in the chat

That's easy enough, right? Right?

I've found the patch!

Well...it's not the patch exactly. But I have found a way to stay spoiler free. Be too busy to log onto the kitten board.

I know it's not a fun way but that's how I managed to only read part of the major spoiler listed in the general thread early last week.

My week's been crazy. I lost a job, got a job and bit my nails down so far I can barely see them. I have to teach Water Aerobics tonight so I won't get to watch the ep until 10pm. *pout* I'm starting to go crazy. I don't know if I can make it through the entire season spoiler free but DANGIT! I'm going to try.

Best of luck to all you spoiler free kittens! Enjoy the show tonight!

Well, it's 6:15 on the west coast now, and while I have picked up a lot of spoilage, this morning I zoomed right past Leoff's (rather lengthy) synopsis without reading a word. Does that count for something?

I shall not be tempted by the lure of the spoiler ho's and their forbidden fruits.

Well ok I'm tempted, but I shall not succumb.

I am a reformed spoiler ho. Last year I had read the transcripts to most of the season before it was even aired here in the UK and you know what... it really did spoil it in the most literal sense, there was no anticipation. There was no real surprise. I ruined what was in many ways the best ever season of Buffy for myself and found myself liking Angel all the more because that wasn't spoiled. Learn from this lesson. I did.

You won't catch me this way again... long may the spoiler free thread last... even if I should end up being the only one, sad and lonely and posting to myself. Hold out brothers and sisters. Accept no temptations, even W/T goodness moments. That way leads to ho'dom. Especially you Kerry... you started all this do not abandon us now.

BTW has anyone got a (even unconfirmed) date for when in January Sky are due to start showing S6 in the UK or an educated guess based on last year? Whilst were at it might as well get the international predicted dates together just in case anyone wants to know.

Be strong.

Here's a pledge - I'm not going to enter a single spoiler thread, transcript site, "come and look at Willow and Tara rolling naked in the hay" picture board, or anything ... Until I get to see it when they release the box sets in the UK. Okay, so I will need a heady mixture of 10 year old Malt Whiskey, tranquilizers and raw egg - the idea is I make myself so sick, I don't get to make it to the pc on button, along with a large stick covered with razor wire to flaggelate myself with, if still able to crawl across the hall on my hands and knees - and maybe, just maybe, I'll make it to next week ... maybe sleep depravation would work ... maybe I could sell a guitar, to pay for sky to be installed ... maybe I could stand down at the docks, a pink carnation in my hat, and, you know, make the old sign ... rob old ladies ... have temporary cataracts fitted ... Go as loopy as a loon ... Yep, got there

Okay, so what happens ..? I post my pledge, sit, innocently waiting for the "thanks for posting ..." message to be displayed, and find myself staring at naked Tara and Willow, and a new pic of them kissing!!!!!! Spoiled! I am spoiled! Tarnished! Corrupted! Well, that's it: I'm just going to have to find refuge in an assylum (struggles out of clothes) I'm gonna run naked up and down my street, screaming. That should do it. Find myself a nice padded cell, and hope they have cable!
