Okay, after reading this thread for a bit, I'm certain of one thing.

A fashion comic filled with poses/pin-ups of Willow and Tara would be the single largest seller Dark Horse would ever have.

Don't laugh. A few years back, there was a trend of doing swimsuit specials for comic book series.

As it is, I'm sorta wondering what kind of uses some of the people on this board are going to put to cardboard cut-outs of the cast, including season 5 Willow and Tara, that are going to come out in a month or so, since the Tara action figure is still a while off...

(Wow. Brain-flash. Make a cardboard stand-up of 'The Kiss' from Buffy #33. Watch the board explode getting them. Hmm. Oops, sorry, I am a very bad man, I'll go off to my corner now.)

Ahh, but Shaniezak, now that I have a profile, I can tell you I do publishing. I know secret stuff.

Give me a week, I can have a couple thousand ready to go, all with their own nice plastic stands.

Umm, right, back to my corner....

(And probably lawyers from FOX licensing being airdropped onto my front yard, but that is sort of beside the point...)

You be talking about those issues of Gen13, Fathom and other assorted barely-covered, impossibly-proportioned, idealisticly drawn female specimens?

I shudder at the thought of Willow and Tara in such drawings. BUT, having said that, decently clothed cardboard cut outs are just fine.

so when are you going to get to it?

*Blink*

Wow, I guess nobody knows.

Umm, folks, Dark Horse will be releasing July 18th two sets of Pop-Out People, cardboard sets of Buffy characters, one photo and one art.

They are going to use cardboard bases rather than nice plastic stands, but still.

It's going to span the seasons, so art of Tara and pics of Amber Benson is included.

For more info, and sample pics, see... http://www.darkhorse.com/products/sec_p ... index.html

and
http://www.darkhorse.com/products/sec_p ... index.html

I was just suggesting there was a way to dummy up The Kiss from Buffy #33 since the board seemed to, umm, like it so much.

Oh, oh.

If no one knew about this....

Everyone wait a sec before hitting the links.

(Bil vacates the area and retreats to a safe distance...)

Okay, go to them...

Whew, it's nice to know that I get to live...

I rechecked the image, and the right hand side of the image is overlaid by the adjacent panel, cropping it. So I am not sure how good it would look.

As for the swimsuit, yeah, that's pretty silly. I was thinking more along a pin-up/fashion book. Not that isn't any less silly, but still, isn't quite as insulting. Along the lines of the Transmetropolitian art books

But do you have any idea how much full-color pin-up art costs? At least $300 an image, for good artists somewhere between $500 to $1000 a pop. (though I think Carla Speed McNeil would be very good at it. Her Finder series shows a deft handling of the female form similar to Terry Moore)

And at that point, I would have to sell it to recoup the money.

At which point I'll have FOX lawyers launching air strikes on me. Let me tell you, planning air defense on that scale would limit my options...

Please notice I'm not saying no, just pointing out the logistical problems...

As I bought my issue The Comic Book Guy who waited on me asked if I had watched this weeks episode yet. I told him I had and we talked about ways to bring the Buffster back. He then said he loved this last seasons character developements for Spike and Willow. cool

The letters section of the comic is also revealing. A fan is commenting on Lover's Walk and says that the W/T story was her favorite part. She says "a friend noticed that the tv show does not show Tara and Willow the way they should. They're not giving the couple the attention they deserve or treating them like a normal couple. I'm, worried you guys are going to do this too--please say you're going to treat them normally. Give them the romantic scenes they deserve."

The writer responds, "as for Willow and Tara, I agree with you. I put them in Lover's Walk to treat them the same way Buffy and Riley were treated--like a normal couple. From the beginning, I think Willow and Tara have been a more normal, and certainly a better couple, than Buffy and Riley. Buffy just isn't good about forming healthy romantic attachements; some people are like that. The people at the show, however, asked us not to portray them in an overtly romantic way. At the time we were developing the story, the show had not gone very far in displaying their relationship. By the time Lover's Walk came out, the show had painted their relationsip in much clearer detail. So it looks like we were beind timid. To make up for this, we're going deeper into the relationship now.

There's something to look forward to. I imagine Buffy comics will help pass the months until the new season stars.
