New Fan Fic: Untitled As Of Yet

Postby Hanki » Fri Feb 01, 2002 1:01 pm

This is a new fan fic i'm writing, thought i'd post it here so tell me what you guys think of it. this is the first part, it does get better

***

“But she’s doing better!” Dawn cried.

“I know she is, you keep telling me but I just…” Tara’s voice answered her down the phone.

“You don’t know if you can trust her,” Dawn realised.

“I’d trust her with my life but I know what magic means to her,” Tara answered.

“When will you be ready?”

”I don’t…” Tara paused, “Soon.”

Dawn smiled, “Well that’s good to hear. So what time are you coming to pick me up tomorrow?”

“I’ll get you straight from school, ok?”

“No! Erm, I mean, you can’t… cuz… cuz I have to drop my stuff off here,” Dawn panicked for a moment, she had a plan but it wouldn’t work if Tara picked her up from school, she needed her to come to Casa del Summers.

Tara laughed, “Ok then, sounds like a plan.”

“Yep, see you then?”

“Uh-huh, love you,” Tara said.

“Love you too,” Dawn replied and hung up, she slumped down onto her bed and thought about her developing plan. If Tara came to pick her up tomorrow she would have to see Willow at the house right? Maybe they’d get talking and Tara would realise how much better Will was doing and they’d get back together. Well that was the theory anyway. Hopefully it would work.

Dawn rummaged around in her bag and found some math homework she should have been doing, she stared at the endless row of numbers on her sheet and decided she needed Willow.

She grabbed a pencil and trooped down the hall to Willow’s room, she knocked on the door before pushing it open, “Will? I need your help with this…”

Dawn took a few steps into the room and her eyes took in the sight before her. Willow was lying on the floor, her entire body was shaking and her breathing seemed difficult.

“Willow?!” Dawn shrieked.

“W-wa-wat-water,” Willow managed to get out from her quivering lips.
Dawn ran to her room and found the bottle of water she had had earlier, she held it to Willow’s lips and helped her take a few sips.

Very slowly the shakes subsided, “Thanks, I don’t know what happened.”

“I do, it was cuz of the magic wasn’t it? Like a side effect or something,” Dawn accused her, all thoughts of math homework forgotten.

Willow sighed and nodded, “Yeah, I suppose it was.”

Dawn still looked concerned, “Are you sure you’re ok now?”

Willow nodded, “Who were you talking to on the phone?”

Dawn thought quickly, “Buffy, she won’t be home till late, patrol or something.”

As if on cue they heard the faint sound of a door opening downstairs and Buffy’s voice calling “Hey!”

Dawn and Willow both chorused greeting back before Willow turned to Dawn suspiciously, “It was Tara wasn’t it?”

Dawn looked down at the floor and nodded slowly, “We’re going out tomorrow.”

Buffy entered the room and her eyes immediately took in Willow and Dawn sitting on the floor and Dawn’s hastily thrown down math, “What happened in here?” she wondered.

“Nothing really,” Willow answered with a smile, “Dawnie got a little upset with her homework, I was helping her,” she added.

“Oh, well it’s good that you’re doing your homework again,” Buffy said with a look of approval at Dawn.

Dawn scowled, “Good for you maybe.”

Buffy just grinned, “I’m gonna take a shower then I’ll fix us something to eat ok? I think it’s my turn.”

Dawn and Willow nodded and watched her go.

“So what am I supposed to be doing with this math?” Dawn asked, handing Willow the sheet.

Willow read the page then began to explain, after a while and a lot of Dawn banging her head against the floor, the math was done and they could smell Buffy’s cooking. It smelled suspiciously like pizza. They went down stairs and saw the back of the retreating delivery boy and the pizza box in Buffy’s hand.

“Busted!” Dawn cried with a laugh, she grabbed the pizza box from Buffy and ran into the kitchen.

Buffy rolled her eyes, “Ok, ok, so I’m lazy,” she said as she followed in Dawn’s wake.

As they sat round the table discussing their plans for the following day, Dawn thought about her ‘Get Them Back Together’ plan, she had it all figured out exactly now, nothing could go wrong, well she thought nothing could go wrong which probably meant that there were huge gaping holes in it somewhere, but hey, nobody’s perfect.

* * *

The next day Dawn hurried home from school as fast as she could, she practically ran all the way. She darted through the front door and ran up the stairs, she through her bag into her room and went to Willow’s room to see if she was there. Willow was sitting in front of her desk, the computer was on and was making noises.

“Come on, come on,” Willow was muttering.

Dawn took a moment to clam down then said “Hey.”

Willow jumped, “Oh, hi Dawn. You have a good day at school?”

“The usual,” Dawn replied, “What are you doing?”

“Trying to get on to the Internet, Buffy called about some demon, they wanted me to have a look online,” Willow explained.

“Oh, nothing too serious?” Dawn asked.

“Nah,” Willow replied.

“Good, good,” Dawn murmured glancing at her watch nervously, any second now…

“So what time is Tara coming to pick you up?” Willow asked casually.

“Any second now hopefully I… wait, how did you know she was coming?” Dawn asked startled.

“You told me you two were going out,” Willow reminded her, her computer had finally connected to the ‘net so she quickly headed to one of her demon related bookmarked sites.

They heard the sound of the front door opening and Tara’s voice called up the stairs, “Dawn?”

“I’m up here,” Dawn yelled back with a quick glance at Willow. Willow’s face had lit up when she heard Tara’s voice but now she was coming up stairs she looked worried.

They heard the sound of footsteps on the stairs and then Tara appeared in the doorway, she saw Willow and took a visible step backwards. “Willow! I-I didn’t know you were here.” She quickly turned to Dawn, “Are you ready now?”

“Hi,” Willow said softly, she couldn’t bare to look at the pain that was clearly visible on Tara’s face.

“I’ll just be one minute, why don’t you wait in here?” Dawn said and left the room. She walked along the hall to her room, she smiled to herself, she was going to give them much more than a minute and she had no intention of going anywhere with Tara, those two were staying in that room until they had sorted out their problems once and for all.

Good start. I was just wondering if this takes place AFTER "Wrecked." Or really, when it takes place...a few days, weeks, months? Just curious.

Still, I'm looking forward to reading future installments.

As a fellow denizen of the Spoiler Free thread I remain shocked at your assumed defection Hanki!

Nice start though and if it is going to get even better as you say then that is a good, good thing too. I lack the specific episode knowledge to to comment on the situation - so far but soon! - but I like the writing alot and it is a nice idea that Dawn gets them back together.

item the second: Katharyn, I did not fall off the boat, my friend has the episodes in realmedia on his 'pute so i was unspolied but i've seen the eps now so i know what happenes but i'm still staying away from future spoliers.

item the third: i don't know what the rating is, probably about PG-13.

item the fourth: The next part!

* * *

Willow was still staring at the floor while Tara was now staring at the walls, neither had any idea what to say to the other. The silence was nearly tangible, everything was awkward.

“So… how are you Will? Really?” Tara finally asked.

“I’m doing good, I’m much better, I haven’t done any magic for a few weeks now, I’m never going to use it again, I couldn’t stand anyone getting hurt because of it… because of me, ever again,” Willow babbled eager to fill the silence.

Tara smiled, “That’s great.”

“I-I wanna ask you something… but I’m scared to,” Willow confessed.

“You don’t have to be, it’s me,” Tara replied, she took a step into the room and closer to Willow.

“I hate this,” Willow said, tears welled up in her eyes, “I hate that I never see you, I hate that we’re not together anymore and most of all I hate myself because I caused all this!” The tears rolled openly down her face.

Tara could see the pain in Willow’s eyes, she wanted to reach out and hug her, make all the pain go away but she managed to stop herself, “I still don’t know if I’m ready to…”

“I know, I know, I don’t blame you, I wouldn’t want me back right now,” Willow choked out.

Tara took another step closer, “Not now, but I still love you, I’ll never stop loving you, ever and one day you and I will both be ready for this again.”

“I just hope it’s soon,” Willow smiled through her tears. She reached up and dried her eyes with the sleeve of her shirt.

Tara did her signature half smile and took another step closer, “Willow… I-”

She was interrupted by Dawn barging through the door, “Tara are you ready to go?” Dawn had been waiting outside, listening to their conversation, they’d come a long way in such a short space of time and she figured Tara would still want to go out. She hadn't realised she had just interrupted something important.

“Um, yeah of course,” Tara stammered.

“I’ll be back later,” Dawn told Willow and led Tara out of the room.

“So what were you guys talking about?” Dawn asked knowing full well what they were talking about but she had to ask anyway, it was just the thing you did under the circumstances.

* * *

“They’re getting closer,” Dawn informed Xander the following morning as he drove her to school.

“Who are?” Anya asked, glancing up from her Wedding magazine.

“Willow and Tara, they were talking quite happily yesterday,” Dawn elaborated.

“Really? What happened?” Xander wondered, he switched gears and rounded a corner.

“They were talking and Tara said she isn’t ready to get back together yet because she’s still unsure about the whole magic deal but Willow told her she’s doing much better, which she is, but Tara was still confuzzled,” Dawn explained.

“Why is Tara confused?” Xander asked, “Will is doing waaaaaaay better now.”

“Tara hasn’t been there to see how much she suffers though, and to see all the changes,” Dawn reasoned.

“I know someone who could help them,” Anya suddenly said, “He’s a demon but he’s a good one, well kinda good… he’s a lot better than some anyway.”

“A demon?!” Dawn exclaimed.

“Yes, he specialises in getting people in love back together,” Anya explained.

“So he’s sorta like cupid?” Dawn asked slightly confused about the whole thing.

“Cupid?! Don’t insult Vashgal like that! Vashgal doesn’t fly around shooting innocent people with stupid little arrows!” Anya cried, her voice getting louder with each shriek.

“Ok, ok,” Dawn hastily backed up, “So what does he do then?”

“He makes people prove their love, if they pass the test they live happily ever after,” Anya explained.

“What happens if they don’t pass the test?” Xander asked, he knew the kind of forfeits demons usually employed.

“Well I don’t really know, I haven’t seen him for a century or two, he might have changed his…” Anya began, she seemed to be avoiding the question.

“What happens?” Xander asked again, a little more forcefully.

“They die, but come on Willow and Tara? I’ve never seen anyone so much in love,” Anya replied, “Except for us,” she added.

Xander grinned at her.

“So if they prove that they’re in love to Vashgal, he’ll help them realise that they should be back together?” Dawn checked to make sure she’d gotten everything straight.

Anya nodded.

“Well summon him then!” Dawn cried excitedly.

“It’s not like I can just get on the phone to him!” Anya exclaimed, “I have to do a small spell first.”

“Cool so if we go back to the Magic Box and…” Dawn began planning hurriedly just as the car pulled up to the curb. She saw the ugly old school building in front of her.

“You are going to school young lady, I’ll be here at 3 o’clock ready and waiting to take you to the shop where we can do this spell thing,” Xander said firmly.

Dawn sighed, “Ok fine.” She climbed out of the car and headed for the entrance.

next part coming up:

* * *

As soon as the bell rang Dawn threw her books into her bag and headed for an exit. She wanted to get to the Magic Box as quickly as possible so they could summon this demon dude to help Willow and Tara.

She immediately spotted Xander’s car and headed for it. She opened the door and dived into the back seat.

“Have a good day?” Xander asked as he started the engine.

“You know, the usual,” Dawn replied.

“Anya has everything set up at the shop,” Xander said after a moment.

“Cool, it’s an easy spell right? Nothing too weird?” Dawn asked.

“Anya said you just have to mix some herbs then chant something,” Xander replied, “Doesn’t sound too hard.”

“Again I repeat cool,” Dawn said.

They drove the rest of the way in silence, they were both lost in their own thoughts.

Xander reached the Magic Box and rolled to a stop. They got out and entered the shop, Anya was just dealing with a customer. She sold them something then followed them to the door and locked it. She flipped the open/closed sign to closed and joined Xander and Dawn at the table.

“We’re all set,” she said showing them all the ingredients, on the table there was an empty bowl, three different bags of herbs and two red candles. There was also a book laying open at a page titled “To Summon Vashgal.”

Dawn scanned the page, “Looks kinda complicated,” she said.

“Well if you do it that way it is, I know an easier way,” Anya replied, “I’m going to start now so please be silent.”

She picked up one bag and emptied its contents into the bowl, she added the contents of the other two bags and lit the candles. She began to chant something in another language. As she got further and further into the chant a greenish glow began to settle around her, a shimmering black dot appeared and began to grow larger. Soon it was as big as a window, Anya continued her chant, shrieking each unfamiliar word louder that it’s predecessor.

Finally the black circle was as big as a doorway and, Dawn realised, that was exactly what it had become. She could just make out the outline of a humanoid creature. It stepped out of the doorway and Dawn could see its face. It was exactly like a human’s except for the eyes, which were almost as big as CD’s. The rest of it appeared human too, albeit a badly dressed human. At some point in it’s life the demon had obviously decided that the trick to clothing was to wear as much of it as possible, it was wearing at least three of every item of clothing.

“Anyanka?” the demon asked.

“Yes, it’s me. I’m calling in that favour from the 16oo’s,” she replied.

“I thought I paid that back, remember? With that shepherd?”

“You never went through with that, I changed my mind,” Anya remembered.

“Fine then,” the demon said adjusting one of the ties hanging around its neck, “What do you need?”

“I have these friends who broke up a few weeks ago, I want you to make them realise they should get back together again,” Anya explained.

Xander nodded, “They’re driving us insane.”

The demon’s eyes turned to Xander, they seemed to be seeing deeper into Xander than he would have liked, “Anyanka and a human?” he whispered to himself. He clapped his hands, the sound was muffled by the four pairs of gloves he wore, “So who are these humans you want me to help?”

“Their names are Willow Rosenberg and Tara Maclay-- ” Anya began but was suddenly interrupted by the demon.

“Rosenberg… Rosenberg… Why do I know that name?” he mused, “Osbourne, Daniel Osbourne?”

Xander looked startled, “Oz? Yeah she used to date him, how did you know?”

“I remember D’Hoffryn asking me if I could get them back together or set her up with someone else just to stop the wailing of her heart, we could hear it in our own dimensions,” the demon explained.

“Get them back together or set her up with someone else?” Xander echoed, “You got her together with Tara?”

“See he is like Cupid!” Dawn suddenly exclaimed.

“I am not a cupid!” the demon shrieked, “How dare me liken me to a cupid?”

“A Cupid? You mean there is more than one?” Dawn asked, intrigued.

“Oh course there is more than one, there’re the agents of my brother, why do you think there is so much heart break and pain in love? He sends them out with their ridiculous bow and arrows to set the wrong people up, he ruins my perfect matches!” Vashgal ranted, it seemed like he had been waiting his entire life to get that all out.

“Back to the original train of thought… you set Willow and Tara up in the first place?” Xander asked, still slightly confused.

“No,” Vashgal replied, this seemed to be the end of it, he didn’t seem to be about to say anything else.

“No?” Xander asked.

Vashgal shook his head, “I can help them realise that they should be together now though. You know the conditions of this trial?” he asked Xander and Dawn, he knew that Anya already knew.

They nodded, “Anya told us,” Dawn explained.

“Good, I’ll get to work then,” he said and he shimmered out of view.

“Where’d he go?” Dawn wondered.

* * *

Willow was walked down the steps of UC Sunnydale, she was heading home, her last class of the day had just finished. She rounded a corner and everything went black. Just as she slipped out of consciousness she was left with the clear thought that nobody should wear that many clothes particularly in Southern California.

* * *

Tara was just drifting off to sleep in front of the TV when she heard footsteps, “Willow?” she asked sleepily.

Before the blackness claimed her she heard an unfamiliar voice whisper, “You’ll wish it was.”

next part:

* * *

Willow awoke and sat up. Once she got her eyes to work, she realised she was in an old worn bed, in a simple bare-walled room. Hovering in the air before her was a small fairy looking creature, it had big flappy ears and was wearing a simple uniform with a heart on it. It appeared to be female and it looked concerned.

“Oh good you’re awake,” she said, her voice was squeaky and high pitched.

“Where am I?” Willow wondered aware as did so that it was the most clichéd thing she could have said.

“You’re in Vashgal’s domain, I have to go find him to tell him you are awake,” the imp explained, “I will return.” With these words she flew off leaving Willow alone.

“Vashgal?” Willow whispered to herself, she was confused. No demon who had kidnapped her had ever gone to the trouble of taking her shoes off and tucking her into a comfy bed, who the frilly heck was this Vashgal guy?

After a moment the imp returned, she had another creature in tow.

“Hi Willow,” the new arrival said warmly.

“Um… Hi,” Willow replied, uneasily. She was still confused as to who this guy was.

“I’m Vashgal, I brought you here for a reason but I’m going to wait until our other guest arrives before I explain,” the demon informed her, her glanced down at his wrist where Willow could see three watches, they all had different times on them. “Where are they?” the demon wondered, he sounded slightly irritated.

“Who else is coming?” Willow wondered, if it was Buffy they had a good chance of busting there way out of this place, although this demon guy didn’t seem very dangerous.

The demon smiled, “That would be telling.”

At that moment the crooked wooden door burst open to reveal another imp, wearing a similar uniform to the first but his carried the sing of a heart and sword. One of his wings was bent oddly and his other one was flapping twice as hard to try and compensate for it. He had a bloody nose and one of his over-large ears was torn. He was out of breath. “M-Master,” he panted.

“What’s wrong?” Vashgal demanded as the imp finally fell out of the air and landed with a soft thud on the floor.

“C-Cupids… already there… waiting… ambush… they have her…” the imp had passed out. The female imp hovering around Vashgal’s head quickly flew off to get some help.

Willow looked confused but before she could say a word Vashgal began to explain. “I’m a demon who specialises in all things love – not cupid,” he quickly added, “I was called to help you and Tara realise that you should be together – and trust me you should – but they are complications, I fetched you myself but I told some of my soldiers to get Tara some Cupids, agents of my brother, got there first, they have Tara,” he explained.

“Your brother has Tara? Isn’t that a good thing? Can’t you just take me to your brother or something?” Willow wondered still confused on the matter.

“My brother is working to undo every perfect match that I set up, if he has Tara, he will try to make her fall in love with someone else so that she forgets you exist,” he said this as if his brother had no chance.

“So you set me and Tara up in the first place?” Willow asked.

“No,” Vashgal replied and this was clearly the end of the matter.

“Oh,” Willow said, “So how do I get Tara back?”

Vashgal stared at her a moment with his huge eyes then cried, “That’s it!”

“What’s it?” Willow asked looking slightly scared of this mad demon.

“Your task can be to rescue Tara! To prove your love you won’t do magic so that makes it even harder…” the demon trailed off, “You’ll have to alone of course, I can show you where my brother lives, it’s in this world, he clings to the edge of it.”

“I have to go to some evil guy’s house and rescue Tara without using any magic?!” Willow exclaimed, she knew she had to but it sounded an impossible task.

The demon thought for a moment, “I guess it is pretty near impossible… you know what? Screw the ‘alone’ clause, I need to talk to that son of a chaos demon anyway!” Vashgal cried.

“You’ll come with me?” Willow asked, her task seemed much easier now.

“Yeah but I’m warning you I’m not that handy in a fight,” the demon said looking slightly embarrassed.

“That’s ok, I’m sure you’ll be fine,” Willow reassured him, “You can do magic right?”
“I have limited powers,” Vashgal replied, “But my brother has none, no one in his camp has any kind of magical powers, so I think we have the advantage.”

“See, it won’t be that bad right? What does he have?”

“Cupids…”

* * *

Tara groaned and she was lying on her back, her hands and feet were tied up but she had no blindfold or gag. She opened her eyes and thought she was dreaming, Cupid was hovering about a foot away from her. “Huh?”

“She is awake! Awake she is!” the cupid cried and flew off hurriedly.

Tara took in her surroundings, she was lying near a fire in the middle of a huge camp, there were big tents off in the distance and simpler ones closer by. It was like something out of the dark ages.

Soon the cupid returned with what could have only been a demon, he appeared human but he had two huge ears on either side of his head, they flapped as he walked. He was wearing a simple tunic and breast-plate. He had a sword at his waist and a gauntlet on his left hand.

“Welcome witch,” he said with a sneer.

“W-who are you?” Tara asked, her stammer reared it’s head again as it always did when she was scared.

“I am Warden Of Broken Hearts, Lord Of Bad Break-ups and King Of Inappropriate Crushes!” the demon cried.

“W-why am I-I here?” Tara wondered.

“To make sure that you and that other witch…”

“Ex-witch,” Tara interrupted.

“Witch,” the demon stressed this word. “Don’t find happiness ever again.”

“What?!” Tara whispered, she couldn’t believe her ears.

“Take her away!” the Warden Of Broken Hearts screamed.

Several cupids fell over to Tara and hauled her off.

“Willow!” Tara screamed, she fought them all the way.

next part:

* * *

“This is a weird place,” Willow commented. It was the next day, well Willow thought it was the next day but she wasn’t too sure how time worked in this place, she and Vashgal had set off to find his brother and rescue Tara. They were walking through the demon’s world. The sky was impossibly blue and the grass was incredibly green, there was no horizon, just a blank space as if a little child had drawn a picture. Sky was blue and up, grass was green and under the people’s feet.

“Weird how?” the demon asked, to him it was perfectly normal. It was just like the human’s world.

“Well a) there are lots of flying imp-like creatures, b) you’re wearing way too many clothes and c) the landscape is weird,” Willow said counting each point off on her fingers.

“The landscape is not weird! The sky is blue and the grass is green isn’t it? Just like your dimension!” Vashgal exclaimed pointing around him.

“Well yeah but they’re too green and blue… and there isn’t anything in the middle! Like no horizon, it’s just white, it’s like a little kid’s picture,” Willow explained.

Vashgal looked hurt, “Fine then, if you don’t like it…” he clicked his fingers and everything turned black and white, including Willow and himself.

“Hey! Put me back!” Willow cried looking down at herself. It was weird seeing yourself in monochrome, it was like watching a really old TV show.

Vashgal grinned and clicked his fingers again and the colour returned, “And what’s wrong with my clothes?”

“You’re wearing too many, you have, like three of everything,” Willow replied, she indicated her own clothes, “See just one pair of trousers, one shirt not fifty seven!”

“But I like them,” Vashgal replied softly, he held one of his ties in his hand, “I couldn’t choose just one.”

“That’s why humans change their clothes a lot,” Willow explained.

“But there is no point, why not wear them all together?” Vashgal asked.

“We just don’t,” Willow replied and was reminded of many conversations with Anya in the early days.

“Oh.”

They walked on in silence for a while.

“So… are we near your brother’s place?” Willow asked finally.

“Nearly, just a few league’s further,” Vashgal replied, “There will be cupids on guard so we must be careful.”
No sooner had he spoke the words than three chubby little cupids flew out of a nearby tree, where they had been hiding in the higher branches. With shrieks of glee they attacked.

Two of them headed for Vashgal and the last one flew at Willow. He bared his little bow and reached around behind him to get an arrow.

“I don’t think so Mister!” Willow cried and hit him as hard as she could, he spun around in the air and quickly lost height. He managed to save himself before he hit the floor but Willow stamped on him, she winced as she heard bones snap.

She heard cries of pain and went to help Vashgal. They were clinging to his arms and as he was only a little demon he couldn’t throw them off. Willow grabbed at one and managed to pull him off, Vashgal immediately used his free arm to grab the other one and grind his face into the ground. He pushed harder and the cupids neck broke, he died instantly. Seeing this the final cupid tried to fly away.

“Don’t let him go! He will report back to my brother!” Vashgal shouted, he grabbed one of the fallen cupid’s bow and quickly sent an arrow after the attempted escapee. It went straight through the cupid’s wing and he fell to the floor.

Vashgal and Willow approached him cautiously, Vashgal aimed an arrow at his throat, “Don’t move or this arrow will go straight through your throat,” Vashgal commanded.

The cupid spat at Vashgal and squeaked, “I won’t tell you anything!”

Vashgal sighed, “If that’s the way it has to be,” he thrust the arrow home and didn’t give the dead cupid another glance.

He turned to Willow, “Are you ok?”

Willow nodded, “Feeling a little nauseous but other wise…” she said indicating the ground where the dead cupid lay.

“I’m sorry,” Vashgal said as they set off again.

“It’s ok, it’s not your fault,” Willow replied comfortingly, her eyes swept the landscape, “You know I could get used to this place, once you get past the big nothing you’re apparently walking into.”

“You want blue down to the grass?” Vashgal asked.

Willow nodded and he clicked his fingers, suddenly a big blue net appeared all around them. The demon had tried to extend the sky above them, but he didn’t understand that although the sky was blue it wasn’t actually a tangible object.

“It’s not supposed to be like this!” Willow cried, she found that she was no longer had her feet on the floor, she was hanging in the net.

Vashgal clicked his fingers and it disappeared, Willow fell to the floor with a thud and glared at him.

He hung his head embarrassedly. “I’ll work on it.”
