I think this will be the penulatmet chapter. The next one is most likely the last chapter.
I hope you like it.
Chapter 12 – Toilet Talk
Empty, lonely, eerie, all these describe the long corridors in Sunnydale High School. As Willow walks across the tiled floor, all she can hear is the squeaking of her shoes on the newly polished floor. She is desperately searching for her friend, as she told the class. Really it is her girlfriend but she decided to leave the girl part out, when shouting at the whole class and teacher. As she stormed out, all she felt was anger and rage.
Now after walking around the lonely corridors for five minutes, her rage has finally calmed down but it has now turned in to worry.
She stops suddenly as she hears a noise. It’s faint, but could it be possible? Willow stands still and listens. As she stands silently waiting, the noise sounds again. It sounds like it could be crying. The noise is coming from the direction of the girl’s toilets at the end of the corridor. Willow begins to move; as she gets closer the sound becomes more like crying as it echoes down the corridors.
Willow is now stood right in front of the door. The noise that started out only as a faint muffle is now very obviously a distressed cry. She slowly opens the door. A strange thing then happened. As soon as the door lets out the smallest of creaks as it opens the crying stops. Its as if it’s automatic.
Weird! Someone is defiantly here. Thinks Willow as she enters the toilets.
She looks down the row of toilets to spot if there are any feet visible. None.
Ok, no feet. Someone is really into hiding. Please let this be Tara, or I’ll feel like a right prat.
Willow begins to walk up the row of toilets, checking that all the doors are open.
Two toilets left. Right one of these will have the door shut, and I will have struck lucky! Thinks Willow continuing to look. Bingo!
She is now stood outside the last toilet. It has the door shut. As she comes nearer the door, she suddenly hears a sharp in take of breath coming from inside.
“Um, Is anyone in there?” asks Willow quietly, tapping on the door.
No answer.
“Come on, I heard you crying. Who is it?” asks Willow in a calm voice.
“Me,” says a voice coming from inside.
“I don’t know who me… Tara?”
“Um, yes,”
“Can I come in?” says Willow in a pleading sort of voice.
“I suppose so. But it’s defiantly Willow not someone pretending?” asks a nervous voice.
“It’s me. Ok you don’t believe me. Ok what do only you and me know, um… Right we going out. Oh ok, not that um… You squeezed my bottom when we were making a sandwich for Buffy! There, see!” smiles Willow, thinking about that very moment.
“I did not! Anyway I believe you!” sniffles Tara opening the door slowly.
For a second or two the two of them stand and stare at each other. It’s as if they’re studying each other. As their eyes wander over the curves of each other’s faces they begin to smile slightly. Willow can’t hold back anymore as she looks at Tara’s tear stained face. She rushes forward and gives Tara a big hug. As she does so, she feels some resistance. Tara shrugs off Willow from around herself. Willow reluctantly lets go and takes one step back, not understanding why she shouldn’t hug her.
Tara then looks at Willow’s confused face and begins to cry again. She flops down onto the toilet again and puts her head in her hands.
“What’s wrong? Apart from the obvious?” asks Willow kneeling down in front of Tara.
“I just wanted to fit in. Have friends; get on with people,” she says, but then trails off.
“Bu…But you do have friends, and me!” replies Willow quite shocked.
Willow puts her hands on Tara’s arms encouraging her to speak.
“I know, it’s just… I just want people to like me. It’s just like my old school, people just laugh at me!” she sobs still not looking at Willow.
“I know. So at first no one laughs at you, then you meet me, we become friends and go out. Now people laugh at you. God I’m so stupid!” replies Willow.
“No!” says Tara snapping her head up, looking directly at Willow, “It’s not your fault. It’s everyone else that has the problem not you!”
“But,”
“No buts. And anyway if it is all your fault. I forgive you,” smiles Tara shyly.
“Really?” smiles Willow.
“Really, really!” says Tara and begins to kiss Willow.
Just then a face appears around the toilet door. Tara and Willow pull apart quickly, their faces turning red as the kiss had just then become more heated.
“Um…” says the girl.
She has long brown hair and wears a slightly shocked expression.
“Michelle! So…sorry, we um didn’t hear you come in,” says Tara, to the shy girl who is also known as ‘no friends’ or ‘geek’.
“Go away!” shouts Willow.
This shocks both other girls.
“You laughed in the lesson, so go away! And don’t tell anyone about this!” says Willow extremely grumpily.
“What? I was laughing about something on my computer, and you tell me to go away?” says Michelle.
“Huh?” says Willow.
“I don’t know what everyone was laughing about, honest. Well I suppose I do now,” she says.
“Really? You don’t know?” asks Tara looking at Willow surprised.
“Well, I didn’t, no,” she says beginning to smile.
“Oh. Why are you smiling?” asks Willow, “Oh don’t tell me you’re homophobic? No you can’t be or you wouldn’t be smiling?”
“Well you can’t tell anyone but I have a secret,” she says.
“Go on. I don’t want to go back to I.T, so go ahead,” says Willow.
“I haven’t come out, but I think I like girls,” says Michelle shyly.
“Wow, we’re the first to know?” says Tara, quite honoured by the thought.
“Well, um yeah. I’m just glad I’m not the only one,” she smiles.
“Wanna stay here and talk?” asks Willow becoming less cautious of the girl.
“Yeah, that would be nice,” replies Michelle.
“So, how long have you been well, liking girls?” Willow starts off.
The conversation lasts until the bell for the next lesson rings out. The three girls have been enjoying their conversation so much they have missed the whole lesson.
“Oh, no we’re in so much trouble,” worries Michelle.
Michelle is a lot like Willow as she also is a very sensible, well-behaved student. Now, in one lesson both girls have done something they never thought possible for themselves. Broken the school rules. Neither mind too much, not even Tara minds as the three of them have made another friend or friends in each other.
