Divided Hearts

Hey everyone! I thought I'd write another fic, the idea may have been done already but I like it so I wrote it anyway. :)

Divided Hearts
Rating:R for now, but will be NC-17
Disclaimer: Characters belong to Joss Whedon, except the ones I made up.
Feedback: YES!

A baby's cry reached the sleeping blonde's ears. She opened her eyes and gazed out the window. All she could see were trees zipping past her at a rapid pace. Her mind started to wander as her eyes focused and the trees seemed to slow.

"What are you doing?" Donald Maclay asked his daughter upon seeing the packed bags on the bed. He clenched his jaw and held his head high to reinforce his intimidating look.

"I-I'm l-leaving." Tara answered in a small voice.

"And where the hell do you think you're going?" He asked, his deep voice rising.

Tara looked down, shrinking back a little. She was scared but knew she had to do this. She was tired, tired of always cleaning and cooking for her father and brother, tired of always taking the blame for any and everything that went wrong in the Maclay household. She was now eighteen and no one could stop her from leaving. She knew what was coming, but the physical pain would pass. "I'm going to live with my sister."

"Your sister is a piece of trash! A troublemaker and a deserter!" His anger turned to furry at the mention of his other daughter. The daughter who's name was to not be mentioned in his presence.

Tara had heard enough, it was one thing to bash her but another to bash her sister. The sister who had always been there for her. She didn't blame her sister for leaving, she couldn't understand why she herself hadn't gone too. Her sister begged her to come with her but Tara had been too scared, scared of what her father might do to her. The girls wrote each other quite frequently, behind her father's back of course, and after two years Tara was finally convinced it wouldn't get better, her father would never change. She mustered all the courage she could. "Don't talk that way about her you asshole!" She yelled and squeezed her eyes shut as a fist collided with her cheek.

"You don't talk that way to me you little bitch! You get your shit and get the hell out of my house!" He yelled to Tara's huddled form on the floor and stomped out of the room.

Tara looked up through her tears, half shocked, her father had actually told her to leave. She never thought it would be so easy, she couldn't help the smile that formed on her face. She was so happy it was over she didn't feel the pain in her cheek, she quickly picked up her bags and left the house, not saying a word to anyone.

Tara shook her head and smiled. She finally felt free and couldn't be happier. Her thoughts drifted to her sister, her half sister to be precise. Her father had cheated on her mother around the same time she was conceived. Her father had actually cried and begged for her mother's forgiveness, and having the big heart she did, her mother forgave him. The other woman didn't want a baby and was planning to have an abortion. Hearing this, her mother had offered to take the baby in, she had said the baby was innocent and should be given the chance to live. So that's what she did, she raised the baby as if it were her own, she also grew to love it as if it were her own. After her mother passed away, her sister was miserable with the man she refused to call her father. She stayed for a while, wanting to be there for Tara, but it got to be too much and she left.

Tara was jostled from her thoughts as the train started to slow, she smiled as she saw a sign that read 'Welcome to Sunnydale'.
Once the train was completely stopped, people left their seats. Tara stood, straightened her ankle length skirt, and grabbed the two bags she had brought, she pulled the strap to one over her shoulder and carried the other in her hand. She stepped off the train and immediately saw her sister. She took in her sister's appearance which was now very different from the one she remembered. Her father had always made them both dress like "ladies". Her sister always gave him a fit about it, she smiled as her sister was now able to be herself. She quirked an eyebrow at what her sister's "self" actually was. Black boots, black leather pants, a tight red tee shirt, topped off by a black leather jacket. She thought about her sister's personality, smirking at how the outfit did in fact suite her. She neared her sister and before she knew it she was in a bone crushing hug.

"God I've missed you Tare." The brunette said as she hugged Tara.

"You're gonna miss me more if you suffocate me." Tara teased.

"Sorry." She said as she released her sister. She took the bag from
Tara's hand and gave a frown. "You okay?" She asked as she gently touched the blonde's bruised cheek.

"Better than okay." Tara beamed.

The brunette gave her sister another hug, this time without so much squeeze. "I love you Tare."

"I love you too Faith." She said as she pulled away, smiling.

"Lets get out of here." Faith said before heading with Tara out of the train station.

They walked through the parking lot to where Faith's beat up 86 black Mustang sat. Tara raised her eyebrows upon seeing the mud that was splattered all over the car. "What happened?"

Faith glanced at her sister to see what she was talking about, she chuckled as she realized. "Oh...me and Nick like to drive in the mud, or slide around in it."

"You don't get stuck?" Tara asked in wonder.

"No...you have to know what you can and can't drive in, then, you're all set." Faith opened the trunk and threw Tara's bags in it. "You can come with us next time."

Tara stood a bit wide eyed before responding. Going on a joy ride through mud wasn't something she would normally do. She really didn't normally do anything because of her dad's tight leash around her neck. Tara's expression grew serious as she thought about how she could now actually have a little fun. "Yeah, that would be fun." She said, hoping she wouldn't regret her words. She walked to the passenger door and got in the car. She jumped as the overly loud engine revved up. She wanted to cover her ears but decided against it. The way the car sounded, she was worried her freedom might end too soon. She gripped the handle on the door as Faith slammed her foot down on the gas pedal.

Faith laughed at her sister. "Ease up Tare, I know how to drive."

The blonde gave an unsure smile as she kept her eyes glued to the road, however, she didn't release her death hold on the handle.

"Ready for school?" Faith asked, trying to take Tara's mind off of her fear.

"Yeah, I can't wait." She answered honestly.

"I might be too if it weren't for the stupid schools merging. Last year sucked. The people at Sunnydale High need to take the sticks out of their asses." Faith said receiving an awkward look from Tara. "What?"

"You're just so...open. I don't remember you talking like this much, unless you were mad."

"Yeah well, I'm not around that stupid piece of shit known as dad. I can be me, just like now you can be you." Faith smiled.

"Yes well, not sure that me is quite like that." Tara said as she blushed a little at the thought of using those type of words.

Faith grinned at Tara's statement, she then punched the gas to go past the slow driver in her way.

The mustang pulled into the parking lot in front of the older looking apartment building.

"Here we are." Faith said as she opened her door and stepped out. She turned and didn't see her sister getting out so she ducked down to look at Tara who still sat in the car, and still clutching the door handle. "You gonna sit in there all night? Cause if you want it that bad, I'll take you for another ride."

"Uh..no." The blonde said as she rapidly left the car, causing a laugh from Faith. She stretched her body as her eyes roamed the front of the building. Most people would have scoffed at the building but Tara thought it was great. She didn't really care what place she lived in, after spending so many years with her dad, even living in a car would have excited her.

Faith appeared beside her, carrying both bags.

"I know it's not the best but..."

"It's great!" The blonde interrupted ecstatically.

Faith shrugged as she and her sister started walking to her apartment. Once they reached the door, Faith unlocked it and took a step back so the blonde could enter first.

Tara smiled and went inside. Her smile was short lived as a big dog approached her and started sniffing her. She yelled before running behind her sister. "Y-You didn't say anything about that!" She said as she pointed around Faith to the dog.

Faith giggled as the dog jumped up on her. "I have a dog, there, now you know."

Tara rolled her eyes as she started to follow her sister into the room. She was still behind Faith, practically glued to her back. Fear flashed across her face as the dog started to try and get around Faith, curious of the new person.

"It's okay, I promise he won't bite you. He only bites when I tell him to."

Tara slowly inched around her sister and closer to the dog.

"Bite!" Faith yelled causing Tara to leap backwards and almost fall on her butt. "Just kidding, he won't bite." Faith laughed.

Tara glared at Faith, once her heart beat returned to normal she walked closer to the dog, she held her breath as the dog sniffed her hand, exhaling when she realized she still had her hand. Hesitantly, she placed her hand on his head and rubbed his brown coat. "What's his name?" She asked as she started to relax.

"Well, I haven't had him long, he seems to like shithead so that's what I call him." Faith grinned when the dog sprinted to her, wagging his tail.

"That's no name." She said rolling her eyes. "So where do I sleep?" She asked, dropping the subject, she knew she would have to give the poor dog a decent name.

"Oh right. I'll give you the tour!" Faith looked around before pointing her finger. "That's the kitchen, that's bedroom one, and bedroom two, and the bathroom, and this is the living room."

Tara giggled. "Nice tour, thanks. So am I bedroom one or two?"

"Two." Faith said as she picked up one of her sister's bags and headed to bedroom two.

The blonde followed her sister. She stopped at the doorway to get a good look at her room. Her eyes went wide, she blushed and immediately looked down, causing her blonde hair to cover her face.

Faith smiled as she turned to the blonde, her brow furrowed trying to figure out why tara was acting that way. She glanced around the room as the realization hit her. "Sorry...I like pictures you know?" She said as she started to take the pictures of naked women off the wall.

Tara gave a nod but didn't dare look up.

"Okay...your innocent eyes can now look." Faith teased.

"Sorry." Her blush deepened as she lifted her head to look at Faith.

"Hey now...you're not with Donald, you're with me. No apologies needed here." Her tone was serious.

The blonde gave a shy nod and placed her bag on the bed.

"When you're done, I'll be out there, we can talk." Faith added as she left the room.

Tara unpacked her things and made her way into the living room where her sister sat on the couch. "So tell me about school, I can't wait to go." Tara said as she bounced a little in her seat.

"Well it's school, not much to tell, there's school work." Faith said, a little confused by her sister's question.

"Oh come on, dad took me out of school my senior year, I feel likes it's gonna be the first time. Amuse me?" Tara said wanting to know everything about her new school.

"Well, the people suck, I already told you that. Okay...not everyone but most. Snobby rich kids think they're better than everyone. Especially this one girl, Buffy, what the hell kind of name is Buffy anyway?" Faith looked expectantly at her sister. Before Tara could reply she started talking. "And then there's her little friends, all just like her. If it wasn't for Mr. Lang I would have so kicked her ass last year."

Tara shifted uncomfortably, this wasn't what she wanted to hear. She wanted to know the good things, not just the bad. "What exactly happened with Buffy?"

"Nothing particular, see, I went to Blake, Blake and Sunnydale high....very different. Blake contained all the normal people, Sunnydale contains all of the airheaded people that think they are God. The two schools have never liked each other. Ever since we merged, the Sunnydale kids have been talking shit, thinking it'll have no effect, but it does and some of them have scars to prove it...they just don't learn."

"Scars?" Tara asked, she wasn't a fighter and hoped she would never have to be in that situation.

"Yeah, there's been a lot of fights." She looked at her sister who carried a scared expression. "Don't worry Tare, if anyone messes with you, I'll personally fuck them up."

The blonde gave her sister a small smile. School was beginning to sound not so exciting.

You have an interesting premise here. I'll be interested to see where you take it.

You MUST continue. This fic seems pretty interesting. From Faith's description, Buffy seems like a 'Cordelia' character. That should be interesting. Is it LA style Buffy?

"Well, I haven't had him long, he seems to like shithead so that's what I call him."

Poor dog! I'm sure Tara will remedy it by giving him a proper name, right? I hope so!

Update soon please............pretty please! :flirt

7 years earlier....

It was a pretty day, the sun was shining, and a light breeze filtered through the air. Two girls sat on the bank by the river. Tara picked at the grass while Faith was throwing rocks into the water. Both sat silently, their eyes sad.

"Someday I'm gonna leave this place." Faith broke the silence as she threw a rock into the river, watching it skip across the water.

"What about mama? Don't you love her?" Tara asked, looking up at her sister.

"Yes I love her. But she doesn't do anything about Donald, she doesn't care." Faith held back the tears that threatened to fall.

"She does to care," Tara was now getting angry. "she doesn't know how he treats us, it's not her fault. When she's around, he's nice." Her anger turned to sadness.

"We should tell her." Faith said, Tara's eyes left hers, she gave a sigh.

"She loves him, I can't do that to her." Tara picked a small purple flower from the ground and started pulling the peddles off slowly.

"I know," Faith threw another rock into the water, pain evident in her eyes. She turned and gave her sister a small smile. "At least we have each other, he can never take that from us."

"Yes, we'll always have each other, promise me that no matter what, we'll always be there for each other. And that we'll never keep secrets from each other?" Tara asked as she looked at her sister.

"I promise." This time Faith smiled, she stuck out her hand.

"Me too." Tara took the offered hand and gave it a shake to seal their promise.

"I have something I need to tell you, cause I promised no secrets." Tara said, shifting nervously.

"Okay..." Her expression turned to confusion, she thought she already knew all there was to know about her sister.

Tara looked at her hands, trying to build her courage.

"Tare, you can tell me anything." Faith said as she took in her sister's demeanor.

"I'm afraid." Tara's voice was shaking, a tear rolled down her cheek as she stared at her hands.

Faith scooted closer to her sister. She tucked the blonde hair that covered Tara's face behind her ear and wiped her sister's cheek with the back of her hand. "You don't have to be afraid, I'll love you no matter what." She confessed softly as her hand rested on her sister's back.

Tara took a deep breath. "I'm g-g-g-..." She choked on the word, her fear was too great. She tried to compose herself before talking again. "I'm g-g-g-gay." She turned from her sister, bracing herself from her sister's disgust. After waiting a moment and not hearing Faith say anything, she took a chance and glanced over at her sister. She wondered what was going on in Faith's head. Her sister was staring at the water, an unreadable expression on her face. The only thing she could think was that Faith was in shock. She looked away as tears spilled down her face. "S-Say something, anything." The last word came out in a whisper.

Faith remained silent, wondering how Tara could know this being so young, but she didn't question it, her sister was always very intuitive with herself and others. She herself had thought about girls before but never thought much about it. She wondered if she too might be gay. She shook her head to clear her mind and turned to Tara. She was about to say something when she heard a yell.

"Faith! Tara!" Donald called out as he stomped through the woods that led to the river.

After fiercely wiping her face, to try and hide her crying, Tara quickly stood and faced the direction her father was coming from. She looked at Faith who still sat on the ground.

Once Donald made it through the woods, he saw his daughters, his mouth drawn thin and tight. "Why didn't you answer me?" He asked Tara, his eyes burning a hole in the back of Faith's skull as he talked, furious that she sat with her back to him.

"I'm s-s-sorry." Tara stuttered, worried about what would happen to her sister.

Ignoring Tara's answer, he walked behind Faith, he paused, giving her a chance to redeem herself. When she didn't move, his rage grew. He grabbed Faith's hair and pulled her to her feet. He clenched his jaw, pissed that she didn't cry out, not even a sound. He roughly turned her around to face him. "How dare you ignore me! Always the trouble maker." He said as he shook her shoulders. "I am not going to be disrespected by some eleven year old little girl!" He pulled his arm back and tightened his fist.

A shaking and crying Tara ran to her father's side. "Daddy no!" She cried out, pleading that her father not hurt Faith.

"You shut up!" He gave Tara a hard push that made her stumble back a few steps and fall into the river.

"Leave her alone!" An angry Faith yelled before taking her fist and hitting him in the jaw.

Donald's face snapped to the side at the impact of Faith's fist, but he remained in position. He started to hit his daughter again, he glanced to where Tara fell and stopped. Blood was around Tara, in the water. He was scared by what he had done, not because Tara was hurt, but because he didn't want his wife to find out. He glared at Faith before walking away and heading back into the woods.

She stood there for a moment watching him leave before looking in the river. Fear flooded her eyes at the sight of Tara laying there. She jumped down the embankment and knelt beside Tara. "Tare?" She asked in a small scared voice.

"I can't get up." Her pain was to great to move, she looked pleadingly into her sister's eyes.

"Here, let me help you." Faith was now crying, she prayed that her sister was alright. She put one arm under Tara's neck and shoulders, and the other over her chest and taking hold of her upper arm. She gently began to pull Tara up, pausing as her sister cried out in pain. She then continued to pull Tara up. The rock that was under Tara's back came into view, her eyes widened as her heart skipped a beat. The top of the sharp rock was sticking out of the water, the bright red blood looked like it had been painted on. She swallowed and easily walked Tara up the small embankment, making sure to keep her sister facing forward so she couldn't see the rock. After gently helping Tara sit down in the grass, she stood. "I'm gonna get mama."

"Don't tell her." Tara said with worried eyes.

"Tara, look what he did to you. I have to tell her."

"Faith, please...." Her face scrunched up as a sharp pain went down her back. She started to feel nauseous and laid on her side.

"Okay, I won't, I better go now. You need to see a doctor." Faith said in a rush before dashing off to find their mother.

Present day.....

The lump under the blanket shifted as the annoying beep of the alarm clock filtered into the room. Eyes stayed shut as a hand reached out from underneath the blanket and hit a button on the clock. When the beeping didn't stop, she groaned and hit it again, this time a little harder. A smile formed as the offending sound stopped, and welcomed sleep took over.

"Tare!"

Another groan escaped full lips as the sound of her name came through the door, reaching her ears. She threw the blanket off of her body, shivering as the chill of the room swept across her form. For the first time, blue eyes peeked out from under heavy eyelids. She swung her legs around until they hung off the side of the bed. After pushing her tired body from the bed, she raised her arms and arched her back, trying to stretch the sleep out of her. Stumbling to the door, she opened it, there was no sign of Faith so she padded across the hall to the bathroom. She dropped her shorts and pulled her shirt off then turned the shower on. Stepping into the hot water, her body relaxed. As she poured shampoo into her hand, she smiled at what today was. Her first day of school, she hoped it wouldn't be too hard for her. Her father denied her the right of her education. All she had was one more year, but because he wanted a slave she didn't get to graduate with the rest of her class. She frowned as she remembered begging him to let her go, as a result, she had to clean the kitchen and bathroom floors with a toothbrush. She shook her head, not wanting to bring any bad memories into this day. He would not make her life miserable any longer. Hopefully the kids at this school would be nice, but the way Faith talked, she highly doubted it. She smiled. Faith...at least she would be there. Guilt started to play with her mind, she knew she shouldn't exactly be happy Faith was going to be there. If her sister wouldn't have failed the fourth grade then she wouldn't be, but she was grateful nonetheless. She rinsed her hair, washed her body, and dried off. Her towel was now wrapped around her as she opened the bathroom door and crossed the hallway to her bedroom door. Opening her dresser, she frowned at the few neatly folded clothes that sat there. She pulled out her bra and panties, then looked over to where a few clothes hung in the doorless closet. Deciding on a pair of jeans and a blue long sleeved shirt, she dressed, brushed her long blonde hair and headed to the kitchen.

"Hey." Faith greeted as she saw Tara walking into the kitchen. "Cereal?" She said through a full mouth of rice crispies and held the box up.

"Some things don't change." Tara smiled and shook her head. "I'm not really a breakfast eater." Opening the refrigerator door, she took out the container of orange juice, then pulled out a glass from the cupboard and poured herself some.

"Suit yourself." Faith poured more cereal into her now empty bowl.

"What are you doing?" She looked at Faith who was shoving spoonfuls of cereal into her mouth.

"Ony have oo mints." Faith said through her mouthful as milk rolled down her chin.

Tara giggled and took a sip of her orange juice before pouring the rest out into the sink.

Faith stood and grabbed her keys which were sitting on the table in front of her. "Here we go." She grinned and started walking to the door.

Tara rolled her eyes playfully at the bowl that still sat on the table. She picked it up and set it in the sink, grabbed her bag and followed her sister.

The mustang roared as it pulled into the student parking lot, causing some of the "snobby" students to give a distasteful look. Tires screeched to a halt in a parking space before the engine was turned off.

Faith flipped off one of the girls that was looking at her before looking at Tara. "What's up?" She asked as she saw the blush on Tara's face.

"Did you have to be so...noticeable?" Tara asked as her eyes darted around to see if people were still watching them.

"Oh come on...you care what these idiots think?" Faith asked and saw Tara look down. "Sorry okay?" She craned her neck to look at Tara and gave her one of a kind puppy dog eyes.

"Okay." Tara gave her sister a smile.

"Alright, so lets go then." Faith clapped her hands together before exiting the car.

They walked down the halls of Sunnydale high. Some students would give Faith a high five as they passed. Others would look at the pair and snicker as they talked about the two with their friends. Tara pretty much kept her eyes to the floor, every now and then she'd look up, usually to someone snickering or giving her a 'mightier than thou' look. As they neared the lockers, she took out a piece of paper that had her locker number and combination number on it. Her eyes searched for her number, once she found it she looked at Faith. "What number are you?"

"34, same as last year. You?"

"42."

"Oh, that's not far from mine, want me to go with you to yours?" Faith asked, knowing how nervous Tara was.

"No, that's okay." Tara didn't want her sister to feel like her baby-sitter.

"Okay." Faith smiled as Tara walked away. She went to her locker, wanting to see if the pictures were still taped in her locker. Sometimes the snobby kids would try and break into the lockers that belonged to Blake high school students.

After trying several times, Tara finally got into her locker. She put her bag down and took out a picture of her mother to tape to the inside of her locker. She liked having her mothers picture close, it made her feel safe. She heard the locker next to hers open, she decided against looking at the person next to her. She wanted to make friends but didn't want to take the chance it might be one of the mean girls that go there. She could feel eyes watching her.

"Are you new?"

Tara heard the voice, she didn't know whether to answer or not. She decided that she would answer. Something about that voice, all she could sense in the voice was sweetness, no badness. Finally, she looked over to the girl that was speaking to her. Blue eyes took in the sight before them. The beautiful red hair that went just below the shoulders, the big green eyes that shined, cute little freckles that were lightly sprinkled over the girl's nose and cheeks, and the smile that reached from ear to ear. She gulped, not knowing if she could even speak to this girl. Instead she gave a small nod and averted her eyes.

"Cool!" The girl bounced slightly as her smile widened. "I'm Willow!" She said, her voice bubbly.

"T-Tara." She looked down, embarrassed by her stutter.

"Nice to meet you, I'm sure you'll like it here. We have some really great teachers, super even...what year are you?" She asked as an afterthought.

"Senior." Tara said, thanking the goddess for not stuttering. She looked at the girl once more, taking in as much of Willow's beauty as she could.

"Oh me too! We could have some of the same classes." Willow grinned in excitement as her green eyes connected with blue. Butterflies worked their way into Willow's stomach. The eyes that stared back at her had depth to them, she felt herself getting pulled in.
Laughter pulled the girls back to reality, they both turned and looked to see what was going on.

Buffy Summers was making her way down the hall with three girls in tow. One of them had told a joke causing the others to laugh. As they neared the lockers in that hall, Buffy saw Faith shutting her locker. "oops." She said in a sarcastic tone as she bumped into Faith's arm on the way by. Before she knew it she was shoved from behind causing her to almost lose her footing.

"oops." Faith said with even more sarcasm than Buffy had. She moved towards Buffy as the girl turned around. She smirked at the pissed off look she was receiving. She took a step closer, smiling, she thought that this could be her chance to kick this girl's ass.

"Look, the skanky bitch wants to fight. Whatever shall I do?" Buffy said, putting her hands to her chest and giving a 'damsel in distress' look.

"Don't worry hun, I'll make it quick." The muscles in her body tightened as her anger took over.

"Ahem." An older man cleared his throat to get the girls attention. He stood with his arms crossed. "Don't you ladies have a class to go to?"

Buffy turned to leave and saw her friend. She headed to Willow's locker. As she reached it, she saw Faith walk up beside her. "Why are you following me?"

"I'm not retard." Faith said, she glanced back to see the principle still watching her, then turned back to Tara who stood beside Willow. "Lets go." She said as she glared at Buffy, then to Willow.

"Come on Will." Buffy said, looking at the new girl, then rolling her eyes at Faith.

Willow and Tara glanced at each other. Realizing who the other was, and more importantly, who they hung out with.

Willow gave a defeated look as she softly closed the door to her locker. She wondered when it had gotten so quiet, she followed Buffy without looking again at Tara.

Tara's heart sank as she watched Willow walk away. She knew it was too good to be true, that this girl might like her, or at least become a friend. Before she took her eyes off of Willow, she saw the girl turn and give her an apologetic look before disappearing around the corner.

Nice one, I'm already hooked (and its the first fic I started reading without having more than one page I think).

And I want to see Faith kick Buffy's ass :lol it would just be too much fun. But then it must not interfere too much with the W/T relationship.

Keep this going, can't wait for another update! :bounce

Hey everyone, I know I've been slow about updating but life has to come first you know? Anyway...the updates might not be super fast but they will keep coming.

witchydebie- Hey, thanks for the feedback. So glad you love it! :bounce

Soluna89- Thank you, and it's great you plan on reading more. :-D

Krokador- Woohoo...you're hooked...excellent! ;) Faith and Buffy may have their issues but Willow and Tara will find a way. Thanks so much for the great feedback. :)

Sn0wflak3- Hi and thanks for your feedback. Glad you love it! :)

YMKA- No questions???? LOL...wow...I'm speachless! ;) As for being in two different circles bothering them....well...I think it's more of an issue because of Faith and Buffy. It is school though so that could come into play also. Thanks for the feedback and don't miss anymore! :lol

LesbianJedi87- Long? I thought long was good! :lol And the two feedback's in one day was great, thanks. :-D

AlysonGoddess- Hey, thanks for the feedback and I will continue. :)

Okay...be back in a bit to post the update. Thanks!

Tara was in her third class of the day, she sighed as she listened to the teacher explain the fundamentals of "good acting". She now regretted letting Faith talk her into taking the class. Faith was the total opposite of her, outgoing and never shy. She on the other hand was very shy and only outgoing around her sister thus far. Drama was for people of the non-shy variety, people who loved attention and could bring any emotion to surface. Attention, that word alone almost caused her to panic. She willed herself not to think about it just yet, otherwise she might pass out. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Faith shift to pay close attention to Mr. Crisp, who was now speaking of his own experiences with being on stage. Faith paying attention was very rare, so rare that it never happened. Seeing her sister so interested made Tara smile, she was happy and at the same time, confused. The girl who hated school, who's only reason for coming was for social reasons. As she felt another shift, she glanced at Faith only to see the brunette was now taking notes. Doing a double take, she stared intensely at this girl who now seemed like a stranger. What was Faith even taking notes of? Her ears perked to listen to Mr. Crisp as her eyes stayed glued on her engrossed sister.

"....and so it comes from deep down...deeeeeeeep..."

Tara tore her eyes from their place at the sound of her teacher's over-dramatic voice. Her eyebrows lifted as she took in the sight of Mr. Crisp. The middle aged man was on his knees with his hands balled up and pressed into the top of his stomach. Sweat rolled down his temples as his face contorted into what looked like pain. And people think I'm weird... She smirked and looked at Faith, expecting somekind of comment or joke from her sister. Instead, Faith was still giving the man her full attention. Knowing she would get nothing out of Faith till the class was over, she slumped in her chair and also gave the exasperated teacher her attention.

Once class was over the two girls headed to their lockers, then to the cafeteria for lunch. Tara grimaced as a pile of brown slop was dropped on her tray by the cafeteria worker. For the first time since before class she heard a noise come from Faith and looked over. Her sister was smelling the slop on her plate.

"What is this shit?" Faith asked, ignoring the sneer coming from the worker.

"Good question..." Tara crinkled her nose as she moved down the line further, not wanting to say anything more. Feeling the workers eyes on her, she kept her head down in hopes to alleviate anymore attention. She grabbed an apple, knowing she wouldn't be able to bring herself to eat the brown slop on her plate.

They finished paying and gazed around the cafeteria for a place to sit. Faith nodded her head in the direction of a free table and began leading the way. Her pace was fast, causing Tara to fall a little behind.

Tara watched Faith's back as she followed, not wanting to lose her. She was surprised at the amount of students that swarmed the cafeteria. Her old school was no where near this populated. As her eyes stayed on her sister, she didn't see the student walking toward her. He bumped into her arm on the way by causing Tara's milk to fall off the tray and onto the floor.

"Watch it!" He yelled and kept walking.

Giving a sigh, she looked down thankful her milk didn't bust. A slender hand came into view and picked the milk up then placed it on Tara's tray. She was a bit startled to see the hand, it obviously belonged to someone, meaning someone was actually helping her. She looked up to see who the hand belonged to. Her eyes widened a little as she saw the familiar face. She watched as green eyes looked nervously at her, then darted around.

"You okay?" Willow asked, her words just as nervous as her expression. She gave an unsure smile as she continued to look around the cafeteria, hoping her friend wouldn't catch her with Tara. She wasn't even sure Tara would be nice to her now that she knew who she was, but something inside told her to help this girl.

"Y-Yes, thank you." She blushed a little, this hot girl had just picked up her milk for her. She was doing a little happy dance in her head but of course would never show it.

Willow was still looking around, her eyes stopped on Buffy, who was now walking through the door to the cafeteria. She looked at Tara and gave a nod before quickly walking off.

Was it something I said? Tara wondered as she watched Willow walk away. She shook her head and looked to find where Faith had sat. More carefully this time, she walked to the table where Faith was sitting with her back to her.

"I was about to find you, did you get lost?" Faith asked as Tara placed her tray on the table in front of her.

"Some jerk bumped into me." She said as she sat down. Telling Faith about Willow wasn't an option. She knew how much her sister hated Buffy and her friends.

"This school's full of them. Let me guess, big S on his jacket?" Receiving a nod, she rolled her eyes.

"So what was up in Drama class?" Tara asked with a smirk.

"What do you mean?"

"Well, you either like the class a lot or you have a crush on Mr. Crisp," Disgust crossed Tara's face. "I really hope it's the first one."

"Ewwww...Mr. Crisp? You know I like girls! It's the class, I like it, drama, acting, it's fun." Faith smiled.

Tara watched as Faith's eyes lit up. A genuine smile graced her own face. Then a thought hit her. "I think you would be good at it, you did like to dress up a lot as a kid. Remember that time you got into the Halloween box and took the blue makeup? You put it all over yourself and pretended to be a smurf." Her voice grew higher and she began to laugh.

Faith glanced around the cafeteria. "Not everyone needs to know that!"

"Sorry." Tara covered her mouth with her hand to subside the remaining laughter. "You were so cute." Her hand came down and she grinned before getting kicked under the table. She gave an apologetic expression before biting into her apple.

Her eyes took in the students behind Faith. There was a lot of guys in letterman jackets and very high maintenance girls. She saw Buffy talking to the guy that bumped into her and beside them sat Willow. A girl like that seemed so out of place with the others, but as she really looked at Willow, she realized that the girl didn't look out of place at all. The redhead wore the same brand names as the rest, her head full of long loose curls, not one hair out of place. Jewelry nicely accented her body as did the lightly placed makeup. She suddenly felt intimidated by the classiness of the girl. Realizing the girl was definitely out of her league she gave a sigh and started to tear her eyes away. Before she could look away, Willow was looking at her. She internally panicked and looked away. Taking a chance, she looked back at Willow, shocked as her eyes met green once again. She saw Willow give her a small smile. As she watched, all the sounds and people around her and Willow disappeared. Except for the sound of her own heart beat, which seemed to get faster and louder with every beat. She felt scared, this gorgeous person was looking at her, and smiling. Realizing how stupid she must look with her jaw hanging open, she gave the redhead a nice smile. Suddenly a hand was blocking her view, waving around. She sadly tore her eyes away from Willow and looked at Faith.

"What is so interesting?" Faith asked as she started to turn around and see what Tara was looking at.

"Nothing!" Tara yelled hoping to prevent Faith from looking. She let out a breath when it worked.

"Damn Tare, I'd like to keep my eardrums in tact." Faith said as she stuck a finger in her ear.

"Sorry." Smiling sheepishly, she glanced again behind Faith only to see that Willow was gone.

Oh, Tara doing the happy dance in her head :) That's a funny and nice image, like, put a smile on my face :P

stupid people who always run into other people, its just so... well some people should really pay more attention to what they do, otherwise they'll get a wacking for bumping into Tara.

Ok i'm getting out of the subject. Sorry for not replying earlier, I hadnt noticed the update before. Short updates are not so fine with me, so you better come with an average lenght one next time :P

keep this up :wink

Tara was on her way to her last class for the day. She was upset with herself because she couldn't pay attention in class. All of her thoughts revolved around a sexy redhead that she didn't even know. She couldn't understand it, it wasn't like she had never seen an attractive woman before. Whatever was happening had to stop. This girl had to leave her thoughts.

She sighed as she remembered the less than acceptable notes she had taken in class. If only there was a Willow class....she could definitely keep up with her notes then. Her grin turned serious. No, she had to stop...why was it so hard??

Like every other class, she entered the classroom looking at the floor, only glancing up to find a seat. Spotting a seat in the back of the room, she quickly walked to the seat and sat down, still not looking up. Hair covered her face as she took a notebook out of her bag.

Willow walked into her last class of the day, she stopped before reaching the first row of desks and looked around to see where she wanted to sit. She spotted a couple of girls and smiled as they waved her over. Glancing away briefly, her eyes landed on the same blonde she couldn't get off of her mind. A look of thought crossed her face, she looked once again at her friends who were seated in the middle section. She knew only "losers" sat in the back, but she wanted to sit beside Tara. Taking a deep breath, she approached her friends.

"I'm not feeling well..gonna sit in the back." Ignoring the horrified looks, she quickly made her way to the seat beside Tara. Once seated, she noticed that the blonde hadn't even seen her sit down, or enter class for that matter. She neatly placed her book, notebook, and different colored pens on the desk.

Seeing that Tara was still looking at her desk, Willow leaned over a little and whispered. "Hi." She frowned as there was no response, she leaned in further to try and get a glimpse of Tara's face through the blonde locks. It appeared Tara was reading her text book, but there was a smile on her face. Willow's brows crinkled as she wondered why the blonde would be smiling. She tried again in a low whisper. "Tara?"

Her smile turned wider as she imagined Willow saying her name, the sound of it was heaven. She only wished it was real and not just in her head.

Willow decided that whispering did no good. In a normal tone she tried yet again. "Hey Tara." She said as she waved her hand in front of Tara's face.

As she was jolted from her thoughts, Tara's body jerked causing her arm to swipe across the desk and knock her book onto the floor. A loud thud echoed throughout the classroom causing all heads to turn. Red started to spread across her cheeks as she sunk down into her chair and took sudden interest in her lap, not even bothering to pick her book up.

A frown crossed Willow's face as she saw how embarrassed Tara was. She glanced at the other students then to Tara again. She wanted to take the girl in her arms and tell her everything was okay. Looking at the book on the floor, she reached down to pick it up, before her hand was at it's destination another hand quickly grabbed it. Her brow furrowed as she looked up to see who it was. She sighed and sat back when she saw it was Ms. Calendar. An almost pout took shape on her face, she wanted to be the one to pick the book up for Tara.

"Everything okay?" Ms. Calendar asked as she placed the book on the desk.

After pulling herself together best she could, Tara weakly looked up at the teacher and gave a small smile. "Yes, thank you."

"You're welcome." Ms. Calendar gave a big smile before turning to Willow.

"Is everything okay with you Willow? You never sit back here." She asked with a concerned look.

"What? Uhh...everything's fine....oh...not feeling that well...yeah." She stammered and glanced at Tara, hoping the blonde wouldn't catch on to why she really sat there.

Ms. Calendar's concern turned to thought, she looked at Tara and how Willow was now acting, trying to put it all together. Suddenly she gave a smile and winked at Willow before walking to the front of class to start the lesson.

A confused Tara watched as the teacher walked away. What did that mean? Why the wink? Her mind was now filled with questions as her eyes stayed on Ms. Calendar.

Willow looked to be in a slight state of shock, her eyes wide, her body tense as she stared straight ahead, too scared to look at the girl beside her. After a few minutes in that same state, she took a chance and looked over to Tara. Only her eyes moved as her body and head stayed in place. Tara looked a bit blurry but Willow could tell she was looking at the teacher and not her, she also seemed to be in concentration. Willow let a breath out, grateful that Tara didn't seem to get it or didn't see it. She let her body relax and grabbed her pen to take notes. A smile played her lips as she thought about her real reason for sitting in the back. She didn't know why or how she knew, but Tara was special. Even Ms. Calendar could pick up on it. Her smile quickly dissipated as a horrified expression took it's place. Wait!! She knows!!! She knows I like Tara!!! Do I have an I like Tara sign on my forehead?!?!?! Oh god!!!

In another's eyes, Tara looked to be paying attention but in reality, her thoughts were only on Willow. She wanted so much to be looking into Willow's eyes, she could look at her all day. She couldn't take it anymore, and chanced a glance at the redhead. Her eyes roamed across a face that held embarrassment. Willow had never seemed that shy and now Tara was once again confused. She wanted so badly to jump into Willow's head so she could see her thoughts and feelings. After a few moments of consuming the goddess with her eyes, she turned back to the teacher and started jotting down notes.

The rest of class was spent the same, neither girl having the guts to talk to one another. The bell rang and students started gathering their things and leaving the room. Tara frowned as Willow rushed out, looking as if her ass was on fire and she needed to find a bucket of water to sit in. She sighed as she thought enough is enough. Brave Tara surfaced and she took off to catch up with Willow. She might make a fool of herself but she had to do this, at least talk to her if nothing else. As she left the room and started down the hall, red hair came into view, she quickened her pace. Now only a few feet away, her nerves started to go crazy but she willed herself and kept moving, a few more steps and she would be there, close enough to touch her shoulder and get her attention. Just then someone touched her own shoulder.

"Tara!" Faith said trying to get her sister to stop walking so fast.
Her eyes tore from her "obsession" and looked at Faith. She knew it was over, no way could she go and talk to Willow now. Her shoulders slumped as she watched the redhead get farther away, until out of sight.

Hey Tara... that was a great update. This is my favorite story that you are working on. I just love the setting of this one. You did a really great job describing how both the girls were feeling. The part with Ms.Calendar winking was great too. I'm guessing that everyone must know Willow is gay cause she didn't freak out about Ms.Calendar thinking she liked a girl just that she liked Tara... am I wrong about that? I'm not sure if you mentioned before if Willow was out. At any rate it was a terrific update... keep it up. :clap

WTF,
I just found this story and read all the updates you've posted so far and it is freakin' hysterical.
Fortunately enough years have passed that it doesn't matter that all of my high school traumas are resurfacing since I went to a high school exactly like the Sunnydale High you've depicted.
I really like your portrayal of Willow and Tara as a contemporary Romeo and Juliet, I'll leave others to work out who is who.
They are on opposite sides of the class/culture divide; Tara as Faith's half-sister and Willow as one of Buffy's clique.
Interesting to have Buffy play the Cordelia role in your story, too.
I can deny chicks in chainmail nothing.

I'm telling you though, if they wind up taking posion and then stabbing themselves I'm going to demanmd a refund! :lol Can't wait to see what is next for these two.
