You know you're reading too much fanfic when you start referring to fics as 'stories' and any other sort of literature as 'original fiction'. Or, for that matter, dis original writers 'because they don't have to work within the restrictions of canon.'

When you're reading a good book, and find youreself disappointed and slightly surprised there's no fanart to go along with it.

Riley: "I mean, all of a sudden I find myself looking for the plural of 'cheese'… *beat* Oh, you mean it's 'cheeses'? Really? Umm… I knew that. "

Hehehe. Ok, I've got one too:

When someone mentions that two girls will return from the bathroom "as soon as they're done washing their hands." you can't explain why you're laughing so hard.

It is my solace, my home, the place where my walls crumble and fall away, because no one can know who I truly am. Thank goodness for the Internet, preserver of sanity! -Unknown

And it actually happened, too! The story actually makes it better.

These two girls in my homeroom disappear off to the bathroom, no big deal. But, it had been like 20+ minutes and they still weren't back, when someone commented on their absence. After that, my entire class started railing on my teacher for not planning to lecture them when they come back. Suddenly, the kid sitting next to me says "they'll be back as soon as they've washed their hands."

And I was just sitting there laughing my head off as discretely as I could (have you ever tried hiding the fact that your head has literally fallen off your shoulders? Not an easy feat).

It is my solace, my home, the place where my walls crumble and fall away, because no one can know who I truly am. Thank goodness for the Internet, preserver of sanity! -Unknown

Jesus Ruth, you'll be the death of me with your sigs!!!

Where I live, if someone is laughing about something, they are 'cheesing off'.

I went to work today, and I was still chuckling to myself about your 'New Cheese Rising' sig, when a workmate asked me, "and what the hell are you cheesing off about?"

Try explaining it to someone who hasn't even watched the show, let alone heard of fan- fiction.

Suffice to say I was rolling on the floor, screaming with laughter, and trying not to pee myself.

...when we start playing 'guess the fic' by spewing random lines of fic at parties and only the kittens understand the game. *snicker*

Of course, I wouldn't know anything about these types of problems.

When you're having a debate with yourself about how smutty smut fiction is just so different from porn.

But of course, I wouldn't know anything about that either. :whistle

See, Dark Thing, I wouldn't know anything about that, since I never read porn. I mean, I could, err, ask somebody... like a guy. Cause, y'know, only guys read porn, really. And he'd probably say, err, that, uh, porn's more about the, umm... unusual performances and gawk-worthy sizes of… things… while smut's more about the… expression of hidden, umm, urges, of characters. I mean, he would probably say that smut is about liberating a character, while porn is about breaking the Guinness record for flexibility of… body parts.

But, umm, that's just my guess of what a guy would probably say. 'Cause I never read porn. In my life. Cause that's gross. *cough*

Thank you, Mrs Vertigo, I knew the kitten board could show me both the heights of heaven and the pits of hell (I'm sleep deprived) Now that I know what porn is I'm able to avoid this... this... so-different-from-a-PWP thingy. :hmm ok, maybe I need to rephrase the last part *waves to Kieli*

PWP is "porn without plot" or "Plot? What plot?" A story that's smut for the sake of smut.

I've got one: You know you're reading too much fan fic when...

You get an early copy of Harry Potter, Book 5 and can't figure out if it's real or just fan fic...

its kinda realated to this... but you are spending too much time here in general when

a) you suddenly forget you are in a managment exam cause you are too busy mentaly writing a description of the hot chick who is stretching in front of you... under the pretence of using it for the next fic you write

b) someone says something funny in RL and you begin to reply with L-O-L

c) your reason for being on the internet for a whole day is that you were 'researching' for university (and NO i have not worked out what W/T have to do with an essay on drug testing in the wrokplace)

d) all of your friends seem to live in time zones that require you to be awake at 3am to talk to them

ok that is my 2cents worth... and of course i dont know anything about any of these problems... they happened to a 'friend' of mine

if no-one wants to play with me then i am going to go to my room and play with myself... play by myself, i meant play by myself

You know you've been reading too much fanfic when:

-you're in a math exam and all you can think about is the last update of ......and when it might be updated again.

Fanfic can be very distracting, but, hey, who's complaining. And when am I ever gonna use trig in the real world.

Hi de hi, after a very weird day at work I have a couple to add:

You know you've been reading to much fanfic when:

-you notice some of the pre-packed meats at work are labelled W/T, and spend the rest of the morning wondering when they started making Willow and Tara flavoured sliced turkey.

-you catch sight of the "Willow" butter and get images from various fics, where Tara had Willow for breakfast (or vis versa, I'm not picky...)

OH my god! I have one!

scenario:

you're in bed with your beautiful girlfriend (whom you love soooo much) sharing a tender moment, she says something romantic and you find yourself automatically replying with a line from someone's fic.... (that's happened to me before.) :p (I'd never admit it to her though hehehe )

And as for addiction...

9. Fanfic starts to blend in with each other. Example: your reading the update to the Kali Prophecy, and think back to the Rainbow Writers Season Seven and say : "Weren't the holes in Willow's head cured??"

I was reading two stories the other week. In both, Willow and Tara were getting married. In one, it showed the ceremony. The other, they werent married yet. Needless to say, When I got to the ceremony, I was like...

"Wait, Anya and Giles werent supposed to marry them...the other person was...oh wait..."

How about when you are discussing something with a friend and you say "Oh, that reminds me of this fic I've been reading...now what Tara did was..." and your friend looks at you like you have three heads?

Or you have AU Willow and Tara dreams...daughters of the flame anyone?

I have a couple.

How about when you start using Willow or Tara as passwords.

When you have your favorite fics shortcut to your desktop. :lol

Or when your Favorites in Internet Explorer is nothing but Willow and Tara fan fics and web sites.

I think, for a full day student, it's when reading online doesn't seem enough anymore, and you start printing out your fav fics to read in classes. I'm failing physics, chemistry and german :-D

When you are discussing some unrelated topic and you think "Oh, that would be a perfect scenario for a fan fiction story where Willow is the and Tara is the and they but interferes, but they overcome it by .

And then you get distracted and can't follow the conversation anymore.
