I'm glad to know that we shouldn't like the way Willow's been treated... I was felling kinda bad to write some feedback because I think they are acting extremely wrong towards Willow. It's like she's even worse than the junior partner, sometimes it feels like they think she's Brianna's age! It's been striking me as something that will have consequences in the future, and not good ones.



And yes, of course we all have our "disagreements" with ours SO's and, at the end, all is good and merry again (most of the times...). But I think I'm going for a little more angst here... (no, please, don't kill me! The more angst, the happier we are with a happy end, right?) It's just that we're so used to see Willow doing something wrong and all hell gets loose, people leave, people get hurt, she can never forgive herself, and the whole nine yards (not that I'm comparing what Tara did with everything Willow did, but you get my point). For once, I think it would be cool for Tara to screw up really good and Willow to get all hurt and then all strong and forgiven at the end. But then, it's just me.



I sure wish Willow could show the Guardians that she's as good as Tara, even being no mage, and deserves the same respect.



My, am I Willow's advocate tonight or what? Well, maybe because I just saw Aly all cute on TRL... Aly's belly can be a very powerful weapon...

Lisa, thanks for another marvelous update. It is interesting to see Tara lose some control over certain situations....kinda balances them as a couple...it is only realistic that they each can make mistakes. Poor Wills...having to deal with Tara's changing moods as well as the whole 'not being able to see for herself if Tara is ok'.

I'm also glad to see that the guy isn't a threat...right now, anyway...but, the way the way Tara was with him was a little unsettling. Yeah, she saw it all as innocent, but it still didn't look good. Whatsherface still needed to be smacked, though. She had no right to say that stuff, no matter what it looked like. I like that Shiela and Ira are defending Tara...for the moment. I can just see Shiela being all "protective mother" for Willow later on when Tara's back. Her character just doesn't seem like the kind of person who would dismiss Kaley's accusations so easily. Else, something will come up. And Bre is ok, cus yes, again, angsty is good, but you love us too much to have her more than injured and traumatized. One last thing...caught the name thing right away...hope to see that explained soon, missy ...that's really buggin me.

Just when I was sighing with relief that Michael seemed safe, then there were Keepers. Yikes. Poor Bre, what she did was necessary, but it hurt her so much to do so, that she hadn't even realised she'd been injured.



Brent's panic, which is so totally uncharacteristic, shows how much she cares for Tara.



Its obvious Kaley doesn't know Tara, but it seems she's going to get to know Tara's wife - particularly her formidable temper!

Loved the update. I had a feeling that the man Tara encountered on the trail was a false scare.



In regard to your comment about Tara acting like a major biccan. No matter how nasty she gets, it's still hard to hate her because everyone is well aware of her true nature. So, as a writer it would be VERY difficult to change people's view of her. I wasn't thrilled with her bahvior, but I assumed it was a temporary situation because she is not inately mean.



I am very interested in seeing more of Tara's motivation for exploding the bed and for using the name Maclay. So, I can't wait for the next update!

I am not surprised some much that the DotF treat Willow they way they do, I am surprised she takes it. But, I have to remind myself, this is 10 years in the future, maybe Willow has her temper in control. Well at least let's hope so for Kaley's sake!



I am glad that Michael turned out to be a good guy. Now let's see how he is with Buffy. She could use a nice guy for a change (nothing against the B/F shippers! ok maybe she could use a bad gril for a change!)

Poor Bre!! I think everyone here knows I am big fan of Dawn in this fic, and Bre was worried that Dawn would be mad at her. Poor girl. Killing that keeper is going to bother her for years.



I swear Lisa, you are going to make me like Shelia. Standing up for Tara, knowing that Willow needed to pace. Ira may be completely whipped, but I never doubted his affection for Tara.



Just what were those Keepers doing out there anyway?



Yeah, Brent is going to be pissed. First at Tara, then at Willow for trying to chase after her and then at Shelia for causing it all! Brent is about the only person I can see making all three of them feel guilty at once.



Tara still has to deal with how she treated Ceri. I know that she never would have done that if she had not been under so much stress.

I agreed with Kaley up until her comments about Tara going-at-it with a man. I understand where she's coming from though, she's only been on the sanctuary 3 or 4 weeks. In that period Tara's hasn't really acted all that body-guard-worthy.



The respect and trust that the other members of the Imbolc Guard (I find it odd that a guard from another sanctuary replaces Gandu) have for Tara is based on knowing her for years. Trust/respect must been earned and Tara hasn't been well...earning it recently, esp. not with her recent actions. (heck, if *I* were her bodyguard I would be severly pissed).



So although that Tara-with-male comment is out of line, Kaley was probably just upset/angry at Tara and more then a bit bitter; "*this* is why we had to put the entire sanctuary on alert ?" sorta like that I suspect. (and Ceri is the last person to comment on anything related to Tara getting out, the nerve)



About those two keepers.... yes they didn't belong there and they should know better. Still they really didn't do anything, Brigan being the first to attack without provocation. Not much lost to the world but I really can't fault the younger keeper for reaching for his weapon. After all, if you're pretty sure you're going to die, you might as well try to escape.



Tara getting a massage from an unknown man in the middle of nowhere. Now really... how likely is that ? She can't possible be that dense. Micheal was at least smart enough to get away FAST, even though he has done nothing wrong (hmm... pattern there).



Tara forgetting her full lastname.. kinda strange, and her only saying sorry to Micheal (of all people). She'll have to say a lot more to a LOT more people for running of and causing troubles like that.



Another thing, those "Keepers" didn't seem to be anywhere near as powerfull as the Keeper (esp. #1) in UC. More like observers for a Keeper, otherwise they would have put up more of fight I dare say.



Speaking about a turn of events; I almost *like* Sheila (esp. the 'you need to pace' part) and I *dislike* Tara.



About Willow being treated like a junior partner, yeah it is getting annoying. It's somewhat of a recurring theme in Lisa's fics though. Tara being powerfull and Willow being...well...not powerfull Willow hasn't had much oppertunity to show how nice/smart/giving she is, kinda sad really. (beware, Willow-fan here )



I would like a stronger Willow myself, e.g. like the part in UC where she yells at Tara she won't have to come back if she won't let her come with. (which happens to be my favourite part (one of) of that story btw.). The UC comment thread is cursed btw .

wow, there is so much going on in this update!



first, I don't know if I'd agree that the DoF are treating willow "badly," or like the junior partner-- more like "the one who is still recovering from surgery and shouldn't even be lifting a saddle." yeah, it's a bit heavy-handed, but that's what families are for when you're not thinking straight. I also couldn't stop wondering where bri and megan were once brent took off, and who was with them-- wouldn't willow want to get them back as soon as that happened? she and tara were hesitant to leave megan with anyone else, even brent, this morning. and on the name issue-- I had always thought of them as the rosenberg-maclay household, and assumed that the kids had both names. I know you have reasons for every choice you make, and we'll see soon why you haven't joined them up, but doesn't "brianna rosenberg-maclay" sound nice?

and I am also still hoping buffy might get a wife... didn't any of that crush she had on tara in UC stick around? or at least give her a good dose of gaiety? well, she definitely deserves someone, and michael seems like a fine choice if she wants to keep driving stick



so what's up with this kaely chick...she is in for a world of hurt. don't think it's an accident that we now know that bre turned her down... twice...and that Bre's last thoughts before passing out were of dawn. oooh! liking this! can dawnie have a wife?

Lisa, I love how your stories are so completely fleshed out. I enjoyed hearing your explanation as to why Tara was able to use the magic to breach the sanctuary security, and the various descriptions of the horses. I know nothing about horses, and I love them so. I enjoyed that alot!



I know it's somewhat out of character for Tara to lay down and have a back rub by a stranger, but at the same time she must have been in lots of pain. Both back and breasts! I've been there and man I will do anything at times to relieve those painful feelings. Tara is very intuitive and I guess she judged that he was a good guy. OTOH, her emotions are making her do some wacky things, but I still believe in Tara's innate ability to sense good v. bad people. I hope he turns out to be ok. Glad they were going to have him checked out!

Thanks for the update Lisa, there sure was a lot that went on in it. I feel sorry for Bre and I hope she is ok. I liked how her first thought was about Dawn and I look forward to seeing where that one goes. Poor Willow being kept in the dark and then having to hear one of the guardians say that about Tara, I think that Kaley will have a chance to reget those words though. I like Brent's protective instinct, she has a mothers love for Tara and it is really sweet. Someone needs to shake a little bit of sense into Tara and hopefully Brent can be that preson.



I really like how you have developed the guardians in this story, they have become characters that I really care about. Thanks Lisa for a wonderful story.

Tara is being a MAJOR Biccan at the moment. Be warned, I'm a Willow fan more than Tara, so I'm afraid I'm not cutting Tara any slack. One thing that I don't get. Tara was willing to spend hours loving Willow, even though it hurt her, but she's still not well enough to go for a ride? Ceri isn't being brilliant either. If it was - is it Brigh? - she'd be out there in a minute and the guardians do seem to be treating Willow as the junior partner. As for Kaley... she really needs to be spanked, as do Ceri and Tara. Not in the good way, either. Well, maybe Tara... Nope. That shows just how much I'm disliking Tara. She and Willow really need to talk, Lisa. Please say that's coming up soon!



Michael should so end up with Buffy! Bre and Dawn would make a lovely couple as well! By the way, what's happened to Diana and Cassandra? I'm beginning to like Sheila and Ira, now that they're a little more supportive of Willow and Tara.

ok, there have been a lot of opinions posted about what's going on for tara in this story, and I just want everyone who's mad at tara to take a minute to think about what she's going through and how much she's already punishing herself. this is our gentle tara, our tara of endless and infinite compassion (much like the buddhist deity whose name she bears), and this is also our tara who grew up in constant fear of literally becoming a monster. this fear would probably be emotionally crippling for anyone with tara's gentle nature; add in a history of childhood abuse, and that fears gets even more fire in its belly. most everyone knows that abused children are statistically more likely to become abusers themselves... but for those of us who don't, the haunting fear of becoming that monster-- not the green-skinned kind, but just as real-- is the most horrible punishment you're left with.

now put all this on the shoulders of the tender young woman who risked her life to shed the mantle of brigit so she wouldn't have the power to hurt anyone.

I really think the internal agony that tara is going through right now is by far her worst punishment, and she deserves nothing but love-- and yes, that includes tough love and guidance when necessary-- from her family and her guardians. I know that the strength of willow's love will always bring her back from the dark places, but having emily around is probably a good idea. brent too. now, let's get on with some serious lovin' for our suffering girls.

It will be yes. It isn't right now (right now she's not being nice), at least not unless I've missed a hidden chapter or so . For some reason I keep comparing the wrecked bed-incident with a car-crash in a final-trigger/ physical-reminder kind of way. I wonder what the sleeping arrangements will be now that the bed is kinda unusable.



Lots of possibilities on the return.. is it actually safe to sleep in the same house as Tara again ? (thank God none of the kids were around when things went kinda wrong, explain THAT to a 5 year old... Mommy didn't really *mean* to destroy the bed, honest )

To Lisa: don't worry about me/us forgiving Sheila yet, she seems to just keep going on forward and hopes everything in the past will be forgotten or such. She hasn't ever apologized for the things she did. All her thoughts about both the kidnapping and walking-in on W/T are mainly concerned for herself. What she lost and how emberassed she was... never once that she did something wrong.

After reading your reply and others, about Tara being the Imbolic Mage something was nagging in my inner head. (Never go in there, it is like chaos' worst nightmare) Now, I may be wrong here but I went back and reread UC over again and found something.

Wow!! That was a great update!! I really hope Bre is ok! Kaley really is grrrr... I really didn't like the things she said bout Tara and Michael. She's moved into the hate spot now, giving Sheila a lil break. But yeah Kaley really needs to go! And Michael seems like a good guy, hope he stays that way! And the hook up w/ Buffy can be good cos she desperately needs someone!
