D2D - The reason I chose the phone was that I couldn't see either of them getting up the guts to do it face to face and I think sometimes that is what is best about the phone is that you don't have to look the person in the eye as you say it and you can quickly get off the phone if it goes badly. Whereas if you are face to face an escape is a lot more harder and awkward. Saying that though yes Willow was still very brave, if it was me I too could not get up the guts to do it

Summary- Basically Willow and Tara are in high school and are both 16. Willow meets Tara in an unexpected place and they help each other discover more about each other whilst dealing with the normal angst and learning that comes with high school.
Chapter 9
Art Class
Tara was sitting down on the lawn at the front of the school, with a sketch book in hand, trying to find something to inspire her to draw. Several other students were also spread out a few meters away from her, drawing various objects around them for their ‘lets draw something from nature’ art assignment. Unfortunately for Tara she couldn’t focus on anything around her, her thoughts continually going back to a certain fiery redhead who she had not been able to see this morning as her bus had just gotten her to school on time. The anticipation to see Willow was killing her, she couldn’t wait until lunch time arrived.
As Tara started to try and concentrate enough to draw a snail, slowly making its way across the grass, she suddenly jumped as she felt a pair of hands come to rest over her eyes and a voice whisper in her ear “Guess who,”
Her stomach tied in knots when she realised who it was but she decided to play along with the game.
“Hmmm,” Tara said reaching up and running her fingers over the hands that covered her eyes, revelling in the softness of the skin that she found there. “Is it Wonder Women?”
“Nope,” She heard a voice say perkily in reply
“Is it Kate Winslet?” Tara asked with a smile
“No can’t say that it is,”
“Oh well then it must be …. Cordelia,” Tara said giggling. The hands were then abruptly pulled away from her face and Willow came into view babbling, “Cordelia! Cordelia! Why would you think it would be Cordelia? Did you want it to be Cordelia? I mean I know that she is a cheer leader and stuff but I thought with the whole confessing of feelings last night that you would only be thinking and wanting my hands on you. I mean covering you. I mean covering your eyes. You didn’t really want it to be Cordelia did you?”
“Will calm down, of course not I was only joking, I knew and wanted it to be you. Ok? I just wanted to see your reaction and listen to you babble cause you look so cute when you do it and you get this little frowny look on your face, like you are thinking too hard,” Tara said looking up at Willow in adoration.
“Oh” Willow said blushing at how she had reacted but she couldn’t bare the thought of Tara wanting anyone else.
“What are you doing here anyway, not that I am complaining?” Tara asked
“Oh well I can only stay for a second,” Willow said kneeling next to Tara and facing her, “I kinda couldn’t wait till lunch to see you and I remembered that you said that you would be out here drawing stuff so I told the teacher that I needed to go to the toilet and raced here so I could see you, which kinda seems silly now cause I can only stay for a second and I will be seeing you in a couple of hours anyway,”. Willow looked away blushing as she finished but looked up when she felt a smooth hand slide under her chin and force her to look into two blue eyes.
“I’m glad you came,” Tara simply said sliding her hand up so that it was now cupping Willow’s cheek.
“You know if all these people weren’t around here I would be revisiting that kiss we had in the park right now,” Willow said taking in a shaking breath her desire getting the better of her.
“Maybe later we can find somewhere a bit more private to fulfil your wish,” Tara said looking into Willow’s eyes as her own darkened.
“Yep, I definitely won’t be saying no to that” Willow said a little nervously, still not used to being so open about her feelings and not quite knowing how to act now that Tara and herself were girlfriends.
“Well I’d better get back to class before the teacher starts to wonder why I am taking so long,” Willow said before reaching over a little unsure and taking Tara’s right hand in her own, and rubbing her thumb over the skin she found there, “but I will see you at lunch right?”
“Definitely,” Tara said squeezing her hand tightly once, “Now get your butt to class before you get in trouble”
“Yes mum,” Willow said rolling her eyes playfully, whilst getting up, “but I will definitely see you at lunch?”
“Yes” Tara said giggling “now go you silly goose.
“Ok, ok, I’ll see you soon,” Willow said before giving Tara a quick friendly hug around the neck and running off to class.
As Tara watched her go she couldn’t help but think how much easier it was becoming for Willow to melt her so completely everyday.

Lunch
Tara felt Willow watching her every move as she walked over to the lunch table. She saw Willow watching her hips and her eyes move from left to right as she walked, before her eyes slowly made their way up her body to her eyes. Luckily it was only Buffy at the table so far and it looked like she was talking adamantly about something and hadn’t noticed that Willow was not paying attention anymore. Her vision was then blocked as Xander and Cordelia came to sit at the other side of the table. As she rounded the table and slid into the seat next to Willow she felt Willow’s eyes on her. She turned her head and quickly glanced at Willow and said “Hey”, feeling slightly shy with all their friends around them.
“Hey” she heard replied in return, before she felt a hesitant hand reach into her lap under the table and grasp her hand.
Tara blushed at this but moved her hand so that they could entwine their fingers.
She felt Willow scoot closer to her and whisper in her ear, “Hey listen I was just wondering if I could tell just these guys about us cause I don’t want to have to hide what I am feelings for you in front of them,”
“That would be great Willow but are you sure that you are ready?” Tara questioned whispering back, whilst turning to look at Willow face on.
“I’m ready” Was all that Willow said in return before Xander broke them out of their reverie saying “Hey, Hey no whispering at this table you know the rules about keeping secrets, that basically it is not allowed, so spill,”
“Well guys there is some news that Tara and I have for you all. Well we ah…. We have decided … no, what I mean to say is…” Willow tried before Buffy interrupted saying “Cmon Will, it’s OK you can tell us,”
“Well you know how Tara and I are friends,” Willow stated.
“Good friends” Tara interrupted.
“Well we’re girlfriends actually,” Willow replied before realising what she had just said and looked around at her friends nervously.
“Yes, we’re girlfriends,” Tara agreed backing up Willow and also turning to face their friends.
All was silent for a few moments, Buffy looked surprised, Cordelia looked bored and Xander had a glazed over expression on his face. Xander of course was the one to break the moment by saying “Wait a minute are you lovers yet, you know lesbian, gay-type lovers?”, the drool practically dripping from his mouth.
“NO! God Xander is that all you think about, although it is better than you throwing me out on the curb and saying that you will never be my friend again,” Willow said
“Hey, you know I would never do that to you Will, no matter what you do or who you become, you will always be my best bud, through thick and thin. Face it you are stuck with me Roseburg, we will be friends right up to little old lady hood. And I just realised that that is something that only two women say to each other so I am going to be quite now,” Xander said.
“Thanks Xander that means a lot to me,” Willow said
“And while I am very happy for you guys, yadda, yadda, yadda, I am getting quite bored so Xander can we please find the nearest broom closet to make out in please?” Cordelia said while looking at Xander expectantly.
“And with that proposition I am off. Catch you guys later, I am very happy for you both” Xander said before rushing off with Cordelia in hand.
“Jeez, that’s Cordelia for you all with the providing of moral support. Well anyway guys I think that it is great and about time too, so how did thiss happened?” Buffy asked.
“Well basically we went to the park, we kissed, I ran away, Willow fretted and rang me, she told me how much she liked me, I told her that the feeling was mutual and we became girlfriends,” Tara said simply.
“Wow, I am glad you told her the story cause it seemed a lot longer in my head and probably would have came out a lot longer too,” Willow said.
“Yes I am thankful for that too,” Buffy said
“Hey!” Willow said, “You know you have been noted to ramble too,”
“Have not”
“Have too”
And that is how it went on for the rest of the lunch, nothing had really changed just the fact that two of the girls sitting at the table were caressing and holding each others hands under the table.
As the bell went for the end of lunch Buffy quickly jumped up and said “Oh shoot I just remembered I have to go see Giles, I mean Mr Giles before class to organise a um …. meeting with him after school today,”
“What is the meeting for?” Willow questioned.
“Oh um well we are meeting so that he can help me train on the oval because I am ah ……. trying out to be on the track team,” Buffy replied
“Oh Ok good luck then, see you in class,”
“Ok” Buffy said already running off
Willow then turned and faced Tara and said “You know this kinda gives me an idea,”
“What?” Tara questioned.
“Well you know how detention was moved from the library to one of the other classrooms cause Mr Giles said that he needed the library for a project that he was working on after class?” Willow asked
Tara simply nodded in affirmation
“And you also know now that Mr Giles won’t be in the library after school cause he has to help Buffy train,” Willow said with a slightly cheeky grin.
“Yeeees” Tara said slowly.
“Well I was kinda thinking that you know cause it is going to be so deserted it is going to be very private and especially behind those nice big stacks that they have,” Willow said looking at Tara innocently.
“Willow Rosenburg, you are not suggesting what I think you are suggesting are you?” Tara said teasingly.
“Maybe,” Willow said in a child-like voice.
“Mmmm, ok meet me after school at the front of the library and try not to be late cause I have to catch a bus, Ok?” Tara asked feeling very excited.
“Yes, definitely, I’ll be there with bells on, well not with actual bells cause that would mean that everyone would hear me when I was coming and then it definitely would not be so private cause anyone could catch as really easily. You know cause any time I moved my foot it would jingle and they would be like ‘hey I wonder where that jingle is coming from’ and come and find us,” Willow finished taking a breath.
“You are so cute when you do that you know,” Tara said.
“So I have been told,” Willow said looking at Tara sheepishly.
“Well I had better get to class but see you after school?” Tara said.
“You bet,” Willow said
Tara then leant over and gave Willow a tiny kiss on the cheek before heading off to class. Willow let out a happy sigh and went off to her own class.

After School
Willow was waiting nervously in front of the two library school doors constantly looking left and right for any sign of Tara. She kept thinking Oh god I hope I will be Ok, I mean what if Saturday was just a fluke and she doesn’t like the way that I kiss her now and she tells me that I am like the worst kisser.
She jumped when she felt a hand touch her arm and then a voice say nervously “Oh sorry Will I didn’t mean to sstartle you,”
Willow looked towards the voice and saw Tara standing there nervously and all her fear melted away.
“Hey it’s OK you know me always lost in my own little world,” Willow said.
“Yeah” Tara said with a slight smile.
“You know Tara if you’re not comfortable with this we can just go somewhere and talk for a bit,” Willow said
“No, it’s OK, I really do want to do this, I guess I am just a little nervous,” Tara said looking down embarrassed.
Willow slid her hand into Tara’s and said “Hey it’s OK to be nervous, I mean I am a little too, even though I definitely wasn’t on Saturday, but I guess that was because it sort of just happened where as now we both know what we want to happen and it’s making us a little nervous,” Willow said
“Yeah, I guess so, I love Willow logic,” Tara said with a grin.
“Well that’s good to know. You wanna head inside?” Willow asked
Tara just nodded.
Willow pushed her hand against the door and went inside saying “Hello, anyone here?”
Receiving no answer she grasped Tara’s hand on her own and led her into the library and up the short stairs and behind a set of stacks which was in the shape of an L.
Willow then turned around and grasped both of Tara’s hands in her own and slowly walked backwards until her back was supported by the stack. She proceeded to gently guide Tara until she was pressed up against Willow so that nothing could pass between them.
Willow then slid her hands around Tara until she was hugging Tara’s lower back. Tara then brought both her hands up until her fingers were gently wrapped around that back of Willow’s neck and her thumbs were caressing her jaw line on either side.
Tara took the initiative to slowly lower her face until her lips were pressed against Willow’s. They slowly opened their mouths against one another getting lost in the moistness and softness of each others lips. Willow started to run her hands firmly up and down Tara’s back, pushing Tara’s body more solidly into her own. She heard Tara give a low moan before running her hands down to the tops of Willow’s arms and back up again. Both were breathing heavily through their noses not wanting to part from the kiss.
Tara then felt Willow hesitantly extend her tongue and lick just under her top lip which Willow was sucking into her mouth. Opening her mouth up more she extended her own tongue to meet Willow’s, feeling the tips of their tongues meet. Willow tilted her head to the right to get better access to Tara’s mouth and when Tara next opened her mouth to suck on Willow’s bottom lip she slid her tongue fully into Tara’s mouth. She felt Tara move back slightly in surprise but then felt her press closer again and bring her own tongue into play.
Neither Tara or Willow knew whether they were kissing the right way but both knew from the little moans that the other was making that the way they were kissing was perfect for both of them. Willow and Tara were both swirling their tongues around one another’s, taking in the texture and the joy of being inside each other’s mouths. Both their tongues mapped out each other’s mouths and were now in the process of passionately dancing with one another.
Willow had never experienced anything that had made her feel so alive and if she had to admit to herself so aroused. Having Tara pressed up against her like this with her tongue in her mouth was definitely giving her a lot of pleasure. Tara was having similar thoughts thinking how she never thought simply making out with someone could feel so amazing. The girls continued to French kiss a bit longer until they couldn’t deny their need for air. As they both parted they looked back into each others eyes and saw the desire reflected there.
Willow although needing to catch her breath could not keep her lips away from Tara and hungrily started to kiss up and down Tara’s neck. Tara gasped at the sensation and twisted her hand into Willow’s red locks, pushing her more firmly into her neck. Willow extended her tongue and delighted in the way that Tara’s skin tasted. As she buried herself even more into Tara’s neck she suddenly heard the library doors open and heard a distinct Buffy voice say “Phew what a work out, how you holding up there Giles,”
Both girls frozen in there current position and heard heavy breathing before Mr Giles said “Um, I’m fine, I think that I am just going to go sit over here and die,”
“Aww, the poor watcher can’t keep up, guess they aren’t training them very well over in England,” Buffy teased.
Willow pulled back from Tara slightly so that she could look her in the eye and whispered “Watcher?”
To which Tara merely shrugged her shoulders, clearly confused as well.
“Don’t scoff Buffy, I obviously do not possess the strengths of a slayer and am unable to therefore keep up with you. As your watcher I am merely a guide for you and someone to provide you with the proper training to defeat whatever demons you may come to face. I am not expected to be able to keep up with you,” Giles said
Willow and Tara looked even more confused than they had been before, not being able to follow the conversation even a little bit.
“Yeah, Yeah, whatever, if you ask me I just reckon that you’re getting slow in your old age,” Buffy said.
“Buffy, I can assure you that my age has nothing to do with. Now moving away from my athletic abilities or lack there of, tell me what you saw on patrol last night,” Giles said.
“Hmmm, lets see I saw a vampire and then some dust, then I saw some grave stones, then I saw another vampire, some more dust and some more grave stones, it was sort of a continuing cycle,” Buffy relayed to Giles.
“Buffy you are not being very helpful,” Giles said
“Well what do you want me to say? It was uneventful night Giles, just your normal vampire slaying, there is nothing to report. Oh wait! No, I lie there was something. You know Angel that weird brooding stalkerish guy who is completely gorgeous, ah well he warned me against something called the Harvest,” Buffy said.
“The Harvest? Hmmm interesting I will have to do some research on it,” Giles said
Willow knowing that something was definitely amiss here decided that she wanted some answers, so she released herself from Tara’s embrace, receiving a questioning glance from Tara, and made her way out of the stacks where she could be seen.
“Um Buffy what is going on here?” Willow asked startling both Giles and Buffy.
“Will! What are you doing here?” Buffy asked surprised.
As Tara made her way sheepishly out from the stacks, Buffy’s question was answered.
“Oh well, I guess you kinda heard all of that then,” Buffy said.
“Yeah kinda, Buffy what’s going on?” Willow asked concerned.
“Will, I think you best come down here, we have a lot to talk about,” Buffy said sighing.
With that both Willow and Tara made their way down the stairs wondering what on earth was going on.
