Stepford Wives

By Cherry Avenger

Disclaimer: I don't own any of the characters of Buffy the vampire slayer or the plot of Stepford wives. I haven't even seen the movies (is there a book? because, if so, I haven't read it.) I'm basing my story on everything I gleened from watching the preview and on any info trivia stuff, i might have held in my subconcious after listening to other people or reading various things.

Timeline: This is my own version of the Buffyverse set after season 7, which I believe I cover most of the differences in the first chapter here.

Feedback is always welcomed and enjoyed.

Chapter 1

Buffy awoke with a snort as the Jeep Grand Cherokee slowed down. She rubbed her eyes and attempted to smooth out her ruffled hair. She looked at the ront of the vehicle where Tara sat in the driver's seat. In the passenger seat, sat Willow, who was talking quietly to her girlfriend while caressing the hand she held in hers. Buffy smiled at the obvious affection between her two long-time friends. "We almost there?" she asked quietly so she wouldn't startle them.

Tara glanced at the slayer in the rear view mirror. "Yeah, just a few more blocks until our turn," she answered before turning her attention back to the road.

Willow half turned in her seat to look back at her best friend, Tara's hand still in hers. Willow grinned brightly. "So you all ready for your fresh start? No more Hellmouthy badness to weigh you down."

Buffy chuckled. "Well, according to you, Stepford, California, has the lowest death and murder rates of anywhere in the country." She looked out the window at slight blur lawns and houses. "This should be the perfect place to have a vacation. I do feel kind of bad, though. Leaving Faith and Giles to deal with all the immerging slayers," she turned back to Willow with a frown on her face.

"Angel and his friends are there to help, too," Willow quickly said. "Buffy, you have been protecting the world every single day and night for the last 7 years, and you managed to close the Hellmouth. Albeit, you destroyed the town of Sunnydale to do it, but there was no other possible way." Willow's voice seemed to become a little distressed. "And we managed the definitely not small feat of rescuing Tara's soul from the First's stronghold when we found out it had been holding her prisoner for almost 2 years." Willow took a calming breath. "A break for all of us isn't a just a privilege. It was a necessity."

"Besides, Buffy," Tara spoke as she slowed the car to a stop at the curb. She turned in her seat as well. "Faith knows that we will be there for her and the others if they need us at anytime, day or night. Mr. Giles and Angel won't let her be too proud to ask for help."

"You're both are 100% dead-on accurate of the X marking the spot of the target called right." Buffy shrugged her shoulders, a small grin playing across her lips. "I just need to take a chill pill. It'll be good to just relax and not worry about the next apocalypse." Buffy unbuckled her belt and reached out to embrace her friends over the console in between the front seats. "Ready to check out our new home?" Willow and Tara undid their seatbelts, and all 3 girls exited the car.

Stepford Wives Chapter 2

Postby Cherry Avenger » Mon Jun 21, 2004 3:53 pm

Short, but sweet. enjoy!

disclaimers same as in first post

Chapter 2

Willow, Tara, and Buffy stood for a moment on the sidewalk to take in their new home. It was a modern style 2 story house painted in soft acents of baby blue. in front of the house was a neat little landscape of various flowers and a nicely manicured lawn. Buffy glanced at the houses on either side of theirs and notices how everything was exactly the same, just the houses being painted a different color. "Weird," she muttered.

Willow had her arm around Tara's waist as the girls kept glancing at each other and their new home. A new life with all the possibilities in the world before them. Willow overheard Buffy and turned to look at her. "What's the matter, Buff?"

"Nothing. I just think it's kinda funny how every house on this street looks exactly. I half expect Joan Cleaver to come out the front door yelling, 'Beav, dinner!'" Buffy paused a moment. Then she gestured up and down the street. "Heck, I bet if a picked a blade of glass from here and from that lawn over there they would be the exact same length."

Both Willow and Tara laughed. "Buffy, a lot of companies build planned out neighborhoods like these. It's cheaper and easier for them to keep the floorplans simple and the same," Willow explained. "At least we got a color we like."

"There's probably some neighborhood rule about keeping the front yard neat and presentable. Helps keep it a clean and friendly looking street," Tara added, though she, too, thought it was all a little strange.

Before the conversation could continue, the moving turck pulled up behind the Cherokee. Movers began to pile out and start unloading the vehicle. "I guess we better go inside and get an idea of where we want everything," Buffy suggested. Willow pulled a key out of her pocket. All three girls grinned as they raced each other to the front door.

Stepford Wives chapter 3

Postby Cherry Avenger » Tue Jun 22, 2004 7:03 pm

Enjoy, Y'all

Chapter 3

They rushed to the door Willow in the lead. When they hopped up the front porch, Buffy attempted to gently wrestle the key from her red-haired friend. While keeping Buffy on her right side, Willow held the key out in her left hand out of the blonde's reach. Tara took advantage of their distracted state and planted a deep kiss on Willow's lips. Tara pulled out of the liplock, leaving Willow in a dazed state, and unlocked the door with the key she had taken from her girlfriend. Both Willow and Buffy stared in shock at Tara's deviousness as she walked inside and left them on the porch. "Hey, that was cheat-...," Willow started to whine. She stopped and stared at the high vaulted ceilings and the crisp fresh white walls that fell down into plush pure whit carpet. The only color in the house was the deep mahogany of the stair's bannister and the built-in entertainment center of the living room. "Did the house look this big to anyone while we were outside?" Willow asked as she took a step forward. She bumped lightly into Tara, who had also become swestruck.

"Giles sure can pick 'em," Buffy said as she kicked off her shoes in the entry way. She wanted to explore their new home.

Tara followed suit dragging Willow along behind her. "Go, Mr. Giles," she said under her breath. They started off their tour in the kitchen finding that the appliances were stainless steel and the counters were marble. It even had an island with an extra sink for cooking preparations. After checking the formal dining room and saw that the house had a basement, which was also strangely painted white, they trekked up the stairs. By this time the movers were bringing in the boxes. The furniture would be next.

The girls peeked into bedrooms. "I guess we won't have to argue about who gets the bigger room. They're all huge," Buffy chuckled.

Willow looked out a window that led to the front yard. Ever the practival woman, she advised, "They're starting to pull out the furniture. We should go back down to tell them where everything goes."

Once the furniture was in place and the movers had left on their way home, the girls had the simple dinner of sandwiches they had packed for the trip. They attempted to begin unpacking, but soon the excitement and busy-ness of the day caught up to them, and they retired to bed.

Tara woke early the next morning as the rising sun splashed into their bedroom through the many windows. "Have to remember to buy some curtains," she mumbled as she got out of bed and went to the bathroom that was adjacent to the master bedroom. After washing up, she saw that Willow had curled up on her side of the bed and held Tara's pillow to her face to keep out the light. She gently lifted the pillow off her lover's head and placed a soft kiss on her forehead before laying the pillow back in place. She giggled as Willow embraced the pillow tightly, still keeping her head buried in it. Tara walked towards the french doors that lead onto a small balcony. The doors pushed out and Tara stepped into the warming rays of light. There was a gentle breeze that sifted through long blonde hair. Birds were flying here and there in the backyard. Their song lifting Tara's soul. She leaned into the balcony's rail and soaked up the beautiful morning.

"Just perfect." Tara turned to find Willow leaning against the doorframe.

Tara held her hand out for Willow. The redhead clasped her hand and then embraced her lover. "Are you becoming psychic, Miss Rosenberg? Because that was exactly what I was thinking." They both leaned in for an extra long good morning kiss.

"See that's where you're wrong," Willow said breathily when they pulled apart. She tightend her grip around Tara's waist as she gazed deeply into blue eyes. "You were thinking about the gorgeous morning and the singing birds. Me. I was only thinking about you. How perfect you are." Willow captured Tara's lips again.

"Only in your eyes," Tara replied.

Buffy found her friends in the living room sifting through the many boxes they had. "Look who finally woke up," Willow teased. She handed Buffy a box to look through.

Buffy set the box down and knelt next to it. "First chance I've had in a year to sleep in. It felt good." Her stomach rumbled loudly as she used a knife to open her box. "We don't have anything for breakfast, do we?" she asked, praying for someone to contradict her.

"There's a little bit of fruit left over from yesterday's drive," Tara offered. "We're need to get this stuff sorted and then we can go shopping later."

Buffy jumped up quickly. "Why not go now? We can find a cafe for a quick bite to eat, and the go do the shopping. These boxes can wait." She went over to Tara and took her hands in hers. She leaned in and gave her best puppy dog expression. "Puh-puh-puhleeze, Tara." Both Tara and Willow fell over into hysterics at the slayer's antics.

After recovering, Willow and Tara went upstairs to throw on better clothes. Buffy grabbed the car keys from a little rack they had nailed up by the door the previous night. When they came back down, Buffy went to open the door for them. They stopped in their tracks as they found a group of people on their front porch. The man standing in front of them looked like he was about to ring the doorbell. Instead he held out his hand to them and cheerily stated, "Hi, I'm Warren Mears, and we're the Stepford Welcoming Committee."

Stepford Wives chapter 4

Postby Cherry Avenger » Wed Jun 23, 2004 3:00 am

Chapter 4

Buffy looked suspiciously at Warren's outstretched hand and the group of people behind him. She glanced at her friends and only got wide-eyed surprised looks. It was sunlight out, so these people couldn't be vampire, but her spidey sense did give off the slightest of vibrations. For the moment, she attributed that to the awkwardness of finding complete strangers on your doorstep. "Hi," she started cautiously, giving his hand one good shake. "I'm Buffy Summers. Thanks for coming by, but we were on our way out." She started slowly forward, Willow and Tara following. Willow locked the door behind them.

"Well, darn," Warren snapped his fingers. "We really wanted to come by and greet you all properly. Even brought you a couple of cassaroles. Figured you wouldn't have had a chance to go grocery shopping yet." Warren and his group followed the 3 girls onto the lawn.

"Thanks very much," Willow said as they attempted to make their way to their car. "We totally appreciate the effort, but it really isn't necessary."

"Are your husbands around? We could introduce ourselves and leave the food with them," Warren offered stepping in front of them.

"Sorry, we don't have husbands," Buffy said gazing icily at Warren.

"Oh," Warren answered crestfallen as he glanced at various people in his group. In an instant his face lit up again. "Well, okay. My wife Katerina and I are having a barbeque at our home this saturday. We would be pleased as punch if you all could join us. Introduce everyone properly then."

Tara didn't want to be purposely mean to their new neighbors, so she replied, "We'll have to double check a few things first, but it might be a possibilty. We'll let you know." She opened the car door and started to get in.

"Great, we live at number 14," Warren said, his cheerful tone in full force. "You can either stop by, or leave a note in the mailbox. Hope to see you soon." He waved frantically. His group behind him waved as well, smiles plastered on their faces.

Stepford Wives Chapter 5

Postby Cherry Avenger » Thu Jun 24, 2004 3:48 am

DreamstoDream - A lot of people can see where this is going, but i am hoping to surprise you all at least a little.

Burning White Rose - I'm glad I've got your interest. Yep, Warren is one evil SOB, but you'll have to wait and see how bad he gets.

Tempest Duer -
Quote:

That was so a Giles moment there. lol And I love the cookie cutter houses of Edward scissorhands. Exactly the imagery i was going for. :)

amazonaa - I've have only heard good things about the movie, hopefully that will continue to be the case with my story here. I'll have to consult my magic 8 ball on whether Warren meets an untimely end (shakes and shakes) Future uncertain. We'll see what happens.

girlfriends actually - No, I have not seen the movie, and I've heard it is sooo good. I really want to, desperately want to, but no one wants to go with me. Is there anyone in the Bakersfield area out there who might want to go with me? My treat.

Chapter 5

"Thank God!" Buffy huffed as she placed the numerous grocery bags on the island in the kitchen. "I half-expected those people to jump out at us the second we pulled into the driveway."

Willow and Tara followed her in with the rest of the groceries. "We shouldn't judge those people too harshly. They were just trying to be friendly," Tara said as she started to place items into the refridgerator. "Maybe we've lived on the Hellmouth too long. Automatically looking for the bad in everything." She passed some of the canned food and cereal boxes to Willow to put them into the cabinets.

Buffy worked on putting the frozen foods away. "People don't smile that much, Tara," she attempted to argue.

Tara gave the other blonde a sardonic smile. "I see what you mean, but I think we should at least give our neighbors a chance and go to that barbecue." Tara stopped what she was doing and held up 3 fingers. "Girl Scout's honor. I will be the first to break out the weapons at the slightest sign that they are all evil."

Everyone burst out in laughter as they continued with putting things away.

Over the next few days, the house became their home as they personalized each room. Ocean blue drapes adorned all the windows. Pictures of the girls and their friends were nailed over much of the wall space. The smell of fresh cut flowers lingered in the air. All the little touches of domestic life.

Saturday rolled around quickly and found the trio getting ready. Willow had on a pair of khaki pants and a tight pale green short sleeved button up shirt. She relaxed across the bed reading a magazine as she waited for Tara to finish getting dressed. The top few buttons were undone and were giving the blonde a nice view of her love's bra-clad breasts. While sneaking looks, Tara finished applying her splash of makeup. Then she picked up a brush to run through her silky blonde hair one last time. She wore part of it tied back with blue and white ribbon that matched her flowery sundress. "Come in," Tara said to the knock at their door.

"You guys ready?" Buffy asked as she walked in. Her tone was that of a child who had not gotten her way. Willow and Tara both raised their eyebrows at their friend's attire. Black boots led to black leather pants. Her blouse, though sleeveless and light, was a dark navy blue.

"When'd you dye your hair, Faith?" Willow joked as she stood up from the bed.

"Very funny, Wills," Buffy smirked. She held up her hand to stop any more comments from the redhead or Tara. "I promise to be just as cheerful and cordial to everyone we meet. I'm just hoping they get the idea that I'm not someone to mess around with." The couple nodded their heads. "Let's go, then," Buffy gestured towards the door with a grin.

Chapter 6

"Well, golly," Warren's wife Katrina exclaimed as she opened the door to Willow, Tara, and Buffy. "You're right on time. Everyone is already here, and they just can't wait to meet you." Tara offered up a tray of brownies. Katrina oohed and aaahed at the confection and then ushered them quickly to the backyard. There were various couples relaxing around the patio and pool. "Warren, my manly man," Katrina called her husband over from the barbecue, "Buffy and her friends are here, and they brought brownies. Yum."

Warren hurried over and held out his hand to them. "It's great to finally be meeting you properly. In case you don't remember, I'm Warren Mears and this is my wife Katrina." As he spoke everyone else in attendance gather nearby. "And over here are some of the best people you will ever meet. Jonathon and Amy Levinson. Andrew and Cordelia Jennings. Riley and Samantha Finn. And last but not least, Alexander and Anya Harris." Each couple would lean their head to the side, smile widely, and wave as they are introduced. "Everyone this is Buffy Summers and ..." Warren stopped when he gestured at Willow and Tara and realized that he didn't know their names yet, "Well, darn, you haven't properly introduced yourselves yet."

Willow gave a small little wave and grinned weakly under the attention. "Well, I'm Willow Rosenberg, and this is my girlfriend, Tara Maclay. We are Buffy's roommates." The silence that followed was broken by the occasional bird chirping.

"So whatcha got to eat, Warren, buddy? Buffy spoke up. She and Willow and Tara exchanged glances.

Warren's jaw audibly snapped shut. "Um, food... We've got steaks, burgers and hot dogs sizzlin' on the grill. Katrina has made her special potato salad. Everyone has brought all their specialties." He gestured at the table. "Eat up, mingle." He turned away and headed back to the grill. As he passed Andrew and Jonathon, he smacked the back of their heads. Their rolled their tongues back into their mouths and shut them.

Stepford Wives Chapter 7

Postby Cherry Avenger » Sun Jun 27, 2004 12:53 pm

hope you all enjoy.

Chapter 7

Willow and Tara sat together on a lounger by the pool, paper plates of food in their laps. Willow whispered with a smirk into Tara's ear. The blonde had to grab ahold of her plate as she burst into giggles. "Now what naughty little thought caused that laughfest," a dark haired man asked as he walked up with his arm around his wife.

Willow looked annoyed, but Tara discreetly rubbed her back to calm her. "You're Alexander and Anya, right?" the blonde asked. She gestured for them to pull up a lounger.

"I'm not one for formalities, like Warren. My friends call me Xander," he replied. He took a sip of his coke.

His blonde wife spoke up as she sat next to him, "You can still call me Anya." She had

Despite the odd look from Willow and Tara, Xander placed his arm around Anya and chuckled. "So what was so funny?"

"Well, we seem to be the center of attention for some people," Willow leaned in conspiratorily towards Xander. He followed her line of sight to Andrew and Jonathon, who had turned quickly away from the quartet. "I told Tara that if we gave them a show, they might faint and leave us alone."

Xander laughed along with Willow and Tara. Anya on the other hand had a perplexed look on her face. "Which one of you is the man in the relationship?" Xander managed to aim the spray, of the drink he just had taken, away from them.

She received an incredulous glance from the couple. "We're both women," Willow explained a little slowly like she was talking to a child. She shook her head at Tara

"Yes, I see that," Anya stated, but she continued, "but which of you is...more butch?"

It was Willow's turn to spray her drink around the pool. Tara patted her back as she started coughing. Xander placed his half-full cup on the ground. "Ahn, hun, why don't we go get me another drink?" he said as he helped her up and ushered her away. He turned back for a second with an apologetic look.

Katrina got up from her knees when the doorbell rang again. "Wait, no," Warren exclaimed as he grabbed ahold of her arm.

"But, Warren, my manly man, the front door," Katrina said as she pointed down the hall.

Warren calmed down his breathing and took in her disheveled appearance. "Go fix your hair and makeup. I'll get the door," he sighed reluctantly. Katrina headed stright for the bathroom. The bell rang a second time. Warren pulled up his zipper and went to see who had interrupted him. "This had better be good," he muttered. He pulled open the door in a huff. "What do you want?" he asked of the tall bleach blonde on his porch.

"This note," the man started in a british accent. "Said something about party and free food." He tossed the note at Warren.         Warren caught it and saw that it was an invite he himself had written. "Oh, you just moved into number 3 down the block, right?" his voice suddenly cheerful.

The man shrugged his shoulders and nodded, "Right."

Warren ran his fingers through his hair racking his brain for information. "The realtor told me about you. Your name's William...William Blood."

        "Among others."

"Well, come right on in," Warren gestured. William smirked happily as he sauntered in. "Still plenty of food to go around. Let me introduce you to everyone." They made their way to the back yard. The host started making introductions all around. "And this is William Blood," he finished.

The bleach blonde smirked at the gathering. He stood with his thumbs hanging from the pockets of his tight black denim pants. "I'd rather you lot call me Spike."

Postby Cherry Avenger » Fri Jul 02, 2004 1:32 pm

I hate hackers!!! :rage :rage :rage I know that might be an odd thing to say, when our beloved character of Willow is one, but i see as a benign entity who only did it to help the scoobies and never purposely sent a virus out into the world.

I'm logged into my friend's computer at the moment. My computer was bombarded by a series of idiotic viruses recently and we thought we had the system cleaned out. no, that was a false sense of happiness. Every day since then, i find more adware and spyware finding its way into my hard drive. :crash

on wednesday, i run my virus scan thingy and it finds nothing, but yesterday i run it, nd there are 5 virus hidden within my memory. Each lying in wait for some valuable info like my credit card numbers. Good thing i have never don online banking in my life. last night when i tried to log into the kitten, i would successfully get to my account page, but then when i would go back to the message board, it would say i am not logged in!!!! :wtf

That is how they are stealing the bloody info, gives you a false page, and makes you think your passwords and life is safe. NOPE!!! :angry :angry

Hackers of the world, I am a poor college kid. I only make enough money to pay for my bills and my tuition. I come online, to read some fan fiction, post some of my own, and occasionally chat with some people. what harm did i ever do to you?!?!?!? :fit2 :fit :fit2 :fit

Here's hoping that i can save the things i need from my computer. for now my all my fics are on hold. If you know a hacker or are one, maybe you should take into consideration, who are actually affecting!
