Willow Holmes and Dr Tara Watson

I am a huge fan of the Series Sherlock Holmes, Starring Jeremy Brett and Edward Hardwicke. I thought it would be fun to have our Willow and Tara in the staring roles of their adventures. There will be of course some differences in the relationship between Holmes and Watson. After all they are Willow and Tara. Love will always be in the air.

With the Detective side I hope to run on the lines of the stories written By Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Although there will be the odd Vampire and demon in the future. Although we are in London it will not be a London in the Sherlock Holmes books. Hell mouth anyone? Buffy and co will be here as we go along this is an AU after all.

Not to sure what it will be yet. So I will not say :grin

No Copyrights intended to either Buffy the Vampire Slayer or to The Novels written by Sir Conan Doyle.

This is for fun and not profit in any way.

This is not beta read, and I am not to good at writing as I am sure you will be able to tell. This is my first attempt so please be kind if you can. :grin

If you would like to post this anywhere else please let me know.

Feedback would be very welcome.

On with the story.:clap

Willow Holmes moved with grace through the graveyard, stake in one hand and a small oil lamp in the other.

“Buffy are you hear….Buffy? Willow whispered holding the lamp up to light the way in front of her. Shadows played across the grave stones, as an owl hooted in the distance.

“Over here, Willow.”

Willow Holmes moved forward and sighed with relief as Buffy and Xander came into view.

“Sorry I’m late, Inspector Lestrade called a view hours ago and he need a bit of help.”

“Set him on the right track I hope.” Buffy asked looking around the gravestones in the dim light. Before looking up and giving Willow a warm smile. Willow grinned back before looking more serious on what they were about to do.

“This is the one we want right?” Xander asked holding up a couple of shovels.

Buffy was knelt on the newly dug earth. She read form the stone. “Mary Stewart, 1865-1888.”

Buffy nodded as together they started to dig, Willow holding the light and keeping watch.

The year was 1888 and my name is Dr Tara Watson. I had just finished my degree in London to be a Doctor Of Medicine and set up a small but successful practice in the heart of London. It was unusually for the time for a woman alone to be independent and successful and yet my practice was full, with the wealthy and not so wealthy Lady’s and dames of the London area. As there years rolled by however Lady’s and dames where not the only patients I would have.

My Parents had been killed some years early and I had been left a small fortune, in which I put to good use in my hopes in following in my Fathers footsteps, into the medical profession. College although mainly a male domain had been a wonderful experience I left with a range of friends that to this day remain in my heart. It was one of these friends, Emily that had introduced to me one Willow Holmes, and from that day on I was forever in her debt. Although many I am sure would have been running for the hills.

Emily had taken up a nurse’s duty at a local hospital; we meet once a week at Criterion Bar for dinner and to trade the gossip of the week. I had mentioned that my Life was pretty lonely and that I was looking for a new place to live. Somewhere a bit livelier then the small rooms above my growing practice. I had plans for the rooms and to do so meant moving out.

My companion look up from her meal and reach for her class of red wine in front of her. “ Strange that you should mention it my dear Tara. Before coming here I was in a lively discussion with a friend about the same subject.”

“Really? Who would that be?” I enquired with interest.

“A young lady that spends a great deal of time in the Laboratory up at the hospital. She was just saying this very morning that she had found some lovely rooms, but that were a bit to large for just one, she was wondering if I new someone that would perhaps share the rooms and the expense‘s.”

“ If she really wants someone to share, it would be ideal for me as well. Emily who is the lady you speak off?”

Emily gave a laugh and had a very wicked grin on her face. “ Then you have to meet Ms Willow Holmes, she is a little strange in her ways, but enthusiast into science and reserve although I am not to sure what in.”

“A medical student perhaps?” I pondered.

“Not that I am aware of. She seems well informed in Anatomy and by all accounts a first-class chemist, but as far as I am ware is not enrolled in any of the university class’s. She is quiet and a bit eccentric, but very knowledgeable in a wide range of subjects. Very beautiful in looks but does not seem to have many friends. The friends I have seen seem a bit odd ” Emily remarked to me. Not mentioning that Willow like myself tended to run around in men’s clothing.

I had to smile to Emily anything a little unusually was strange to me friend. “Perhaps I could meet her?”

“Why not, I am sure I can arrange for you to meet. In fact why don’t you come back to the labs with me? She is sure to be there at this hour, she has been for the past week working away for hours at a time.”

“That sounds like a plan.” The conversation drifted away as other matters came into our discussion.

“Did you read in the paper about that poor woman they found down at the docks”? Emily asked with a bit of excitement in her voice.

“They brought the poor dear to the hospital, nothing could be done, she had been dead for hours. The doctors have know idea how she died, scared to death they say. No signs of any injuries other then a couple of bit makes on her neck.”

I looked up with interest. “ Indeed, I read that the other day the lady’s name was Mary Stewart. That’s the sixth death in as many months.”

“Its not safe out Tara, strange things are happening.” Emily look a little scared as she looked around us.

“Emily,” I reached for her hand over the table. “ It is always dangerous, and strange in London, that’s nothing new. Just don’t go running around the dock, or late at night by yourself. I am sure you’ll be fine. Besides, my friend, Paul meets you every night at the hospital gate. You are as safe as can be.” I assured my friend.

Not long after we started back to the hospital.

I was more then looking forward to meeting Willow Holmes she sounded like a very interesting young woman.

Should I continue?

Hi :) Please do continue the story, I'd love to see where it goes. And the Victorian speech patterns are adorable, just like the Flashman novels I love reading.

Also, can I add this story to Through the Looking-glass (www.netspace.net.au/~alia/glass.htm)? Seeing as the website is all about Willow/Tara uber-fic, which this is, and all. And I promise I'll come up with a lovely Sherlock Holmesy title graphic for it :) Pretty please?

Thanks :) I'm pretty much ready to add the story to Looking-glass, all that's lacking at the moment is an email address for people to send feedback to you. If you want that, email me at alia@netspace.net.au and I'll add it and upload the pages. The title graphic's just been finished.

Hay there all

Many thanks again for the kind words. :bow :bow

I hope you are all still interested.

Here is the second update. I hope to update every week or as soon as I am happy with each bit.

This story is not beta read so please be kind.

I woud love feedback to know what you think or any ideas you have on what you would like in the story.

Willow Holmes and Dr Tara Watson

Willow Holmes was bent over her experiment watching for any sign of change.

“Anything?” Buffy stepped out of the shadows.

“Nothing so far, the blood, or what was left of her blood seems quiet normal. She would not have arisen my friend. Vampire bit or not she was dead, whoever…. whatever just wanted blood.”

“A small mercy.” Buffy stepped up to Willows side watching as Willow Holmes set up another test.

“What about the letter sent to the Central News Agency anything there?” Buffy enquired.

Willow looked up with a grim frown.

“The police have know idea that the six murders and the other killings in London are connected.” Willow walked around the cluttered table to sit on a nearby lab stool.

“With the first six murder victims there was just their blood missing, know sign of any struggle. The others there was much more, throats slit, body’s mangled and disfigured, all are ladies of the night that know one cares a damn about. The doctor involved when Mary Ann Nicholes the first victim as she is known was found was Dr Ree Llewellyn he never even mentions two marks on her neck, which my friend I am positive would be there. Her neck was slashed from ear to ear the marks could have been simple overlooked with all of the other damage done.”

Willow retched over and removed a few notes, lifting up the two pages of text.

“Inspector Fredrick Abberline has kindly aloud me the original letters in the hope that I can help catch the murder, they are a very interesting read. The poor dear has know idea what he was reading other then they were written by a sick deranged mind. They believe the killer is a Doctor, which I would tend to agree on. Other then the fact we have a vampire or someone pretending to be, there are know clues as to who, or what is running around London.”

Willow moved the papers into a better light and with a soft voice re-reads the letter to Buffy.

25 Sept: 1888

Dear Boss

I keep on hearing the police have caught me but they wont fix me just yet. I have laughed when they look so clever and talk about being on the right track are they even in the right world. That joke about Leather Apron gave me real fits. I am down on whores and I shant quit ripping them till I drink my fill. Grand work the last job was, so alive do I feel. I gave the lady no time to squeal. How can they catch me now, I am immortal. I love my work and want to start again I have all the time in the world. You will soon hear of me with my funny little games my loyal friends are coming. I saved some proper red stuff in a ginger beer bottle over the last job to write with but it went thick like glue and I can’t use it, yet it taste so sweet, like honey. Red ink is fit enough I hope ha.ha. The next job I do I shall clip. The lady's ears off and send to the Police officers just for jolly wouldn't you. Keep this letter back till I do a bit more work then give it out straight. My knife's so nice and sharp I see more then ever here in the dark I want to get to work right away. I get a chance to feel there fear it is truly heaven.

Good luck.

Yours truly

Jack the Ripper.

They both sit in silence. As the world continues on unaware of the evil surrounding them.

“He talks like he is only the first, that this is the beginning.” Buffy muttered. “Immortal and loving the fear, the chase of a kill.”

“Evil loves evil Buffy we have both seen it time and again. He, Jack is playing a game having fun, eating his fill if you like. Watching the mortal world fear his name. All we can do is sit, wait, and watch.”

“It’s the waiting and watching that is driving me mad. I am the Slayer, the chosen one. Am I not supposed to stop the evil? Not stand by and let it play as if in a playground.” Buffy raged as she slammed her hand down on the table.

“We cannot stop what we do not know.” Willow reminded her upset friend.

Buffy had, had enough and needed a change of subject. “Are you sure about moving?” You could move to the Haven,” .

Haven, a large and to the passers by an impressive Manson and lands outside of London. 500 acres of land, forest and streams ran through the English land which surrounded the house on all sides. Two guards were always stationed at the main gate, and patrol’s walked the large grounds. No one entered without being a member, those that tried, usually the criminal or demon population where never the same when they left, if they left at all.

Willow allowed the change of topic knowing that time and patients were all they had at the moment.

“I’m sure. It would be easier perhaps to live at the Haven, but it would draw to much attention to them and to me to live there. Having the police turning up on the doorstep day and night….. there would be too many questions and problems, plus how in the world would I explain the odd demon, bad skin care? Or a good young woman running around with a sword or two? The local Police stay clear, but it does not stop them trying to find out what goes on behind those closed gates.”

Buffy nodded with a troubled smile, she new Willow was right, but she was still unhappy about the whole idea.

“Buffy, I am a master of the sword, and hand to hand I know the risks. Please my friend do not worry yourself I will be fine. Am I not looking for a room mate as we speak.” Willow stepped back wiping her hands on a nearby rag.

“A roommate is a good idea I suppose.” Buffy grumbled. “ At least you will not be alone, try to make sure that this one is human, oh… and living would be good too.” A large smirk covered Buffy’s face as she spoke.

Willow gave her old friend a thump as she past her. “One little, tiny, microscopic mistake and you never let me forget it.”

“Just be careful. I know you are Willow Holmes detective extraordinaire, crime solver and demon hunter of the known world, famous in the demon world, not to mention a growing fan club with the police, but you can still be hurt,” reminded Buffy.

Willow nodded touched by her friends concern. “I just want, a little bit of a normal life this will be the start.”

Buffy nodded, as she opened her pocket watch. “I have to run, Giles wants me to go over some papers on the new recruits that arrived today, Slayers in training.”

“That’s another reason I don’t want to live there. I‘ll be at Haven later tonight, I have a class at seven.”

Retching forward for a red bind covered book a hidden door opened in the wall and Buffy slipped through. “Later.”

Postby Incitatua 8 » Sun Jun 01, 2003 8:31 pm

:) Just read your interesting start. I too am a fan of the Brent Sherlock Holmes series [He made the character so real.]. I have every episode...of course I am also a fan of Willow and Tara. So what a great combination! I 'm sure you will answer that much debated question about the true relationship between Holmes and Watson:hmm ...at least I hope so. Please update often. I am looking forward to scenes of W/T learning to live together...if you borrow from the Brent stories I forsee some humorous moments. Neat Idea !

Brett is god :grin . To me he is the real fresh and blood Holmes the way I picture Holmes to be when I read the stories. Hardwicke made watson I charactor in his own right and they are a true joy to watch on screen together.

More soon I am sure. No other then net stories I have not ready any Buffy books. I picked Jack the ripper simple because he was around at the same time as Holmes and Watson. I use the real letter sent to the police and added bits to fit the Buffy W/T world plus the real names of the Inspector, Doctor and victim.

Hi all:bigwave

Here is part 3 for you to read and I hope enjoy.:grin

Please be so kind as to let me know what you think.:banana

Willow Holmes and Dr Tara Watson

It was but a short walk from the Criterion Bar back to the Hospital Labs, as Emily and I strolled back in the English summer heat watching the Hanson Cabs and passing the local flower sellers beside the road side. There had been a summer shower of rain while we had dinned. The light rain had left a refreshing smell in the London’s afternoon air.

London was full of wonderful and interesting characters, yet the must colourful and dangerous of characters came out to play after dark.

We made our way through the grey corridors of the hospital making our way to the labs Emily had mention earlier, chatting as we went. We soon found ourselves standing besides two large wooden doors with a sign upon it which read: Medical Laboratories: Medical Personnel Only, which opened into a large dark laboratory room.

I have had a secret since I was a young child. My Mother always told me to keep my gift a secret and for the most part I have, but there are times…. Times when it is so hard, feelings are so strong that I find it impossible to shield myself. I normally have to be physically touching a person to feel anything, which is very useful in my chosen line of work, but this, this was new. Mama had told me stories of how her Great Grandma had been able to sense emotions without touch, but she had never mentioned how those feeling became like your very own. My Mama never mentioned the dreams. You could drown in other peoples emotions. The feelings I felt grow with each passing moment as we stood outside the laboratory doors, and then we entered.

A large and surprisingly well lit room greeted us, due to large windows in the roof. Bottles and cabinets lined each of the long dusty walls. At the far end of the laboratory, I could just make out a small figure bent over a long wooden table, bottles, papers all manor of things lined the table’s top as Bunsen burners and smoke filled the room, giving the impression of a light fog drifting in the morning air.

From my place at the door I watched as Emily walked the long room to great her friend. Softly shouting a hello as to not scare the young woman at her work.

I watch as the small huddled figure looked up and straightened, slowly walking around the cluttered table to greet my friend. I have to admit my heart missed a beat. Although not tall, she was striking, long red hair feel around her shoulders, an angle of a face a shapely nose with a full month smiled as she recognized who was in the room. Her cloths were that of a man, an open neck white shirt with black trouser and boots, she was to my eyes sticking.

“My dear Emily how good to see you.” A soft yet distinguished voice greeted my friend.

After a few moments of quite talking they made they way over to me.

“ Dr Tara Watson, Ms Willow Holmes,” said Emily, introducing us.

Willow Holmes was quiet for a moment. I had the strangest feeling of being looked over before a hand reached out and shook my hand with a firm and strong grip. If lightening could strike in a closed room, I believed at that moment it did. A shock ran through our linked hands, and for that few moments of contact I felt all the emotions that ran through Willow Holmes. Excitement, curiosity, happiness and passion. I quickly released her hand but not before I felt something else, shock through the link, Willows shock.

I also noted while I willed my heart to be silent a few stains on her fingers and an odd scare on one of her forearms as we stepped quickly apart.

Willow was quiet for few moments. “Emily did you enjoy the chocolate pudding at Criterion today?” Willow asked turning to look at Emily.

“However did you know we had been to Criterion?” I asked in wonder looking over to Emily hoping my voice would not come out as a squeak. “ha.. Emily told you just a few moments ago.” I accused.

Emily just shook her head. I would learn soon enough just how unusual and unique my new friend was to be.

“A pleasure to meet you Doctor. My friend here says you are looking to share rooms?” Her eyes glinted as she looked at me not answering my question. “I hope that is the case as I have found a lovely set recommended by a friend who knows the landlady.”

I nodded in answer. “My I ask what you are studying.” I stepped a bit further into the room where I could see a large notebook open with many notes having been taken. I have to admit I was more then interested in Willow Holmes, my curiosity has always gotten me into trouble. From only a few steps away I could still sense her excitement.

“Crime my dear, crime anything and everything unusual that happens in this large and dangerous city. I study it, I live it, crime is every were.” Willow was more then a little excited as she explained her passions to me. “A simple test can solve so much, simply from a drop of blood. A crime could be months old but I have found the answer. For instance Von Bischoff would have been hung, along with Mason, Muller and Lefevre simple by my new test.”

I had to smile at the childlike manner, the emotions I could feeling coming from Willow were warm and comforting.

“You did not come here to listen to me bore you on crime.” Willow said rolling down her shirt sleeves. “If you are willing we will go look at the rooms. They are not far away 20 minutes or so in 221B Bakers Street.”

“I have no plans at the moment, lead on.”

Emily who had been silent as we said our hellos step up to my side as I turned. My new and interesting acquaintance left to get her coat.

“Pudding, Criterion Bar, how did she know?”

“You will find that that is one little peculiarity many have wanted to know how she knows things. Willow is full of information, she does however get a little excited over a good murder, or a mystery, and would know doubt have been burned at the stake a few hundred years ago.”

She is not the only one I thought.

“A mystery, sounds like a challenge. I am very greatful Emily for bring us together.”

Within a few moments Willow returned in a full length black coat and cane and we were on our way to Bakers Street in a Cab, as Emily returned to her nursing duties.

We talked on our way over the cad softly swaying, small things what we liked and didn’t like. I found that my new friend and I had many things in common, books, theatre, and music.

We soon found ourselves outside 221B Bakers street.

The rooms on inspection were very lovely, large open space’s. The house was run by a mature lady named Mrs Hudson a very motherly gentle lady, short in height, but large of heart, with grey hair and a twinkle in her eyes as she showed us around the rooms.

There was one large central room with three windows overlooking the main road of Bakers Street. A large fireplace graced the far wall admitting a warm glow throughout the room. There were two medium sized rooms which would make each of us a bedroom, and two smaller rooms which where ideal for studies in which Willow seemed highly excited about.

I was more then delighted with the rooms. There was more then enough room for two people to live in comfort and warmth without falling over each other or getting on each other’s nerves. I could have a small office here at Bakers Street and still have all the space at my practice. The feelings I received from Mrs Hudson were ones of comfort which settled my remaining nerves. I had found my home.

“You should have the peace you crave here Ms Holmes.” Mrs Hudson said as she handed Willow a cup of tea. “Mr Giles and I are old friends you can run your Detective agency from here along with your other little problems.” Mr Hudson gave a wink and a chuckle as she spoke.

Willow smiled. “The good doctor has know idea about the ‘other little things’ for now my dear Mrs Hudson they must remain our little secret.”

“Of course.”

Mrs Hudson looked Willow Holmes over with a motherly frown. “I must say my dear, you are looking a trifle thin, I will soon solve that little problem once you and the lovely doctor have moved in.”

Willow listened to the doctor pottering about upstairs. “I am sure you will Mrs Hudson. I do believe that the good doctor approves of the rooms.”

There was a soft creaking from the stairs. “Here she comes now.”

I found Mrs Hudson and Willow sharing a pot of tea in the kitchen, we agreed then and there to move in the very next day.

To be continued....:banana :banana :banana
