What was Willow's present for Tara's birthday in Family

You know, I am wondering: at the end of Family, Tara is opening presents, and she gets a crystal ball from Giles and a broomstick from Dawn. But we never find out what Willow got her- besides throwing the party, that is. So, what do you think it was? And what was in Riley's package that he brought toward the end?

Willow's present to Tara was a sex toy called a micro-dolphin.

It's sort of a small strap-on vibrating dildo in the shape of ced aquatic animal.

There was the box for one of these on top of a bag of trash at the hotel I work for when I was throwing trash in the dumpster tonight.

I always thought that Willow gave Tara something somewhat benign at The Bronze, but when they got home later that night, gave her another, more intimate present. I saw Willow telling Tara something like "You get your other present when we get home" when Tara was opening the first one.

At the Bronze, Willow probably gave her a silk shawl, art supplies and a rare crystal Tara had spotted while browsing an on-line shop called the Magickal Cat three weeks earlier. Once the girls were in the privacy of their room, Willow got down on one knee and presented Tara with a custom made star sapphire and diamond engagement ring.

This is an intriguing question! "Family" is perhaps my favourite episode ... can't imagine how I never noticed this before! We DON'T know what Willow gave Tara! I'll be damned ...



Alright, then. I would've thought a piece of jewelry, pendant or ring or something like that, but then Tara would NEVER have failed to wear it ... and I don't think any of us have picked up on an accessory (or anything else) that Tara always wore.



I can't help feeling it was something ... I dunno, mundane. Like a dress or a sweater. Or a really nice book (novel or poetry, not spells). Knowing Willow, it very well might've been a book. I say mundane only because everything else in these characters' lives are so wild - magic, vampires, demons, spells & charms, exotic weapons. A regular, everyday present seems somehow so much more appropriate for them.

Wait, I know! Today is MY birthday, and my wife gave me the Buffy Xbox game "Chaos Bleeds!" Maybe THAT'S what Willow got for Tara!

See, InsectReflection, that's why I asked it in the first place. :-) I couldn't really see anything new in Tara's life, save maybe some clothes that she hadn't worn before Family- but not jewelry or some such. As for Riley, given the box he came in with, I think it is a piece of clothing, perhaps a shirt. But Willow? I just don't know. I would like to think that there was something really special- and I like the idea of either a framed picture of Tara's mom or of W/T together. That would hold with the whole idea of Family, you know? It would have to be special just to the two of them.

Also, we don't know what Xander got, or Buffy- the two were so stupid as to be in a magic shop and not know what to get Tara. LOL.
