Part One: Fates Collide (literally)

Willow was tired. Buffy had kept her up all night, talking about Parker, and all the problems she had been having. Then a whole day of classes had gone by. She was beat. She felt drowsy and sleepy, and she just wanted to go to sleep.

BAM! Willow tumbled to the floor, dropping all of her things. She felt her cheek begin to swell a bit. In front of her on the floor, was a girl, and she seemed to have dropped all of her things as well.

"I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to... it's just I'm really tired, and I wasn't paying attention."

The girl looked at her concerningly. "Y-y-your cheek. I must have bumped into you there. I'm s-sorry. Maybe we should go to the nurse?"

Willow frowned slightly. "No that's okay. It's not that big a deal."

They both got up, and one of the other girl's books caught Willow's eye. "Oh my gosh!? Do you do spells?"

The other girl smiled. "Y-y-yea? Are you into the whole W-wicca thing?"

Willow smiled. "Yea, totally!"

The girl laughed slightly. "D-do you wanna come to my room? We could... do a spell? I have l-lots of stuff." She paused. "Oh, s-sorry. You're tired, and I'm kinda rushing y-you into this."

Willow jumped a bit excitedly. "Yea! I'd love to do something with you! I didn't think anyone here did any spells or conjurations. The other girls are all about baking cookies, and scented candles. Oh, I'm sorry! I'm Willow! What's your name?"

"Oh, I'm T-t-tara. I know what you mean. E-every girl is like 'Oh Moon Goddess' yada, yada, yada. You're the first one I've seen who knows about spells! So do you... wanna come over now?"

Willow looked down at her things. "Do you think we could stop by my room really quick. I have books I could get?"

Tara looked at her watch. "Uh... I have to take some stuff to the library." She pulled out a piece of paper and wrote something down. "Meet me here in half an hour, okay? Then we can talk some more."

Willow smiled. "No problem. See you then." Tara backed away slowly.

"O-okay. See ya." With that, she walked away.

Willow laughed to herself. "This is so cool! And suddenly I'm not so tired anymore."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Willow glanced down at the piece of paper that Tara had written on. "Yea... this is the place." She knocked slightly on the door, and about 5 seconds later, Tara opened it.
"Oh hey! Your exactly on time. Come in!"
Willow stepped in, and glanced around the room. "Yup. That's Willow. Always prompt and prepared." There were a lot of ingredients and books sprawled out in one of the corners of the room.
"Ooh! Are these your things? I brought some of my books and some things along too."
Tara smiled. "C-cool. Just put the things down on the floor, and we'll check out our little library." They sprawled everything out, picking up bags, bottles, casually glancing into books.
Willow beamed brightly. "So, how long have you been all... witchy?"
Tara smiled at her. "Always. I mean, since I was little. My M-mom was one. Very powerful. She taught me everything."
Willow rummaged through some little bottle with labels. "Eye of newt... Maybe she can show me a thing or two about spells... rat's tail..."
Tara sighed, and frowned. "S-she uh... she d-died. A few years ago."
Willow looked up at her, embarrassed and sad. "I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to... I just... I'm such a dumby some times." She frowned and gazed upwards.
Tara put her hand on Willow's shoulder. "No, it's okay. You didn't know. I'm not m-mad or anything. Just forget about it."
Willow glanced at the clock on Tara's desk. "Oh no! I have to go. I promised Buffy I would help her with some studying! Maybe tomorrow we can get together again?"
Tara felt saddened, but smiled and hid it. "Oh, no problem. We can definitely do something tomorrow. You should go. You don't want to be late."
Willow picked up all of her books and things, then got up. "Okay. So I'll see you tomorrow. Can't wait!"
Tara walked to the door, and opened it. Willow walked out, and looked back at her smiling. "It's great to have met you Tara. I have a feeling we're gonna be good friends."
Tara smiled back. "Y-yea Willow. So I'll see you around tomorrow. B-bye."
Willow waved, and walked away. "Bye!"
Tara stared at her walking down the hall. She bit her lip, then closed the door, wondering about this girl she just met, who made her so warm.
First fic? So we should be gentle?
Well gentle me thinks this is really sweet fic. I miss innocence of season 4. Everything was so sweet then. Before the magick became the issue.
I think you can make a good story out of this.
Bring it on!
------------------------------------------
Part Two: Friends Always
All Willow could think about during class was going to Tara's and doing some spells. The only other person she had ever done a spell with before, was Giles.
But with Tara it seemed like it would be different. Willow could sense this aura around Tara. She seemed like a normal, shy girl. But inside, Willow could feel something powerful.
Soon, Professor Walsh ended class, and Willow rushed outside.
"Willow, wait up! What's the hurry for?" She turned around, and saw Buffy run towards her. "Is there some wild party going on, or what?"
Willow laughed. "No, I'm just going to meet someone. A friend."
Buffy grinned. "A friend, huh? Oz has only been gone a little over a week, and already you found a new 'friend.'"
Willow raised an eyebrow at her. "Not like that. It's just someone I met yesterday." She looked down, with a few tears in her eyes.
"I could never get over someone I love so much, this quickly. I know he's coming back... I just know."
Buffy frowned worriedly. "Will... I didn't mean. I just. I want you to be happy. You're my best friend. I know you were there for me, and my Parker problems. Now I'm gonna be here for you. Kay?" She smiled.
Willow wiped her eyes, and smiled. "Okay. Well I'm gonna go. Don't want to keep my friend waiting." She turned around, and dashed down the hall.
Buffy giggled to herself. "Just be happy Will."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Willow knocked on the door. Tara opened the door, a bit surprised.

"W-willow? You said you were g-gonna call."

Willow wiped her hand down her face, and sighed loudly. "I'm so sorry. I completely forgot. It was just I was so excited, and I just... If it's a bad time I can come back later."

Tara smiled, laughing. "It's no p-problem. I'm not busy. C-come in." She led Willow inside, and closed the door behind her.

"Um, I-I was just working a simple conjuration spell before you came."

Willow sat down around the small stone that Tara had on the floor. "Maybe I can help you with it. I mean, if you want me to?"

Tara sat down, and smiled at Willow. "S-sure. I would l-love to have you help me."

She looked down. "S-sorry. When I'm nervous, I tend to s-stutter a bit."

Willow put her hand on Tara's shoulder. "No Tara. It's alright. But, you shouldn't be nervous. I'm your friend. You can feel safe with me. Always."

Tara looked up smiling, Willow smiled too. "T-thank you Willow. That means a lot to me."

Willow took her hand off, and put her hands on her lap. "Okay. Only chipper. No more frowns. So... tell me about this spell."

Tara picked up the book, and showed it to her. "This is the 'Conjuration of a Nymph Familiar'. It's a spirit of the forest. I'm hoping to use it, to restore this dead flower."

She picked up a vase, with the dead flower in it, and set it next to the stone. "We'll use the power of this Chlora Stone, to tap into the spirit world, and conjure the nymph."

Willow beamed widely at Tara. "Gosh Tara... you sure know your stuff. This should be easy the way you make it sound."

Tara smiled back. "I'm not as good as I sound."

Willow laughed. "I bet you are. So... Let's do it..."

------------------------------------------

Part Three: Shining Brightly

Willow raised her arms, and held her palms out, about three inches away from Tara's hands. They closed their eyes in unison.

Tara began to chant slowly. "Nobria Delomdia Moramori Tihowsen Nophius."

She chanted almost in a whisper. Willow caught on, and began to chant along with her. There was a flash of light, and they opened their eyes.

A small green ball shifted out from the stone. It flew around their heads quickly, in little circles.

Tara smiled. "Now we command it. Please spirit nymph. Aid us in restoring the life to this flower. Help it bloom again, and glow brightly."

The ball glided down to the flower, and began to circle around it. Little sparks of green began to shoot out from the dirt the flower settled in. It began to straighten, and become full of life slowly.

"Alright Willow. Concentrate. We have to keep the spirit line open, and control the nymph. Keep... it... like...this..."

Willow nodded. She noticed Tara was staring straight into her eyes. She was looking deep down into Willow. She returned the stare. They felt warm inside. They smiled, and slowly reached their hands towards the other's.

Their hands almost touched, when the glowing green ball screeched loudly, and vanished. The flower stopped growing, and began to shake.

It exploded, petals and dirt flying everywhere. Willow and Tara jumped, and put their hands back down.

"Tara! I'm sorry! I must of lost concentration. I should have focused like you said."

Tara smiled sweetly. "It's not your fault. It was me. I got... side tracked."

Willow quickly looked down, and began to scoop up the pieces of dirt and flowers. "Um... let me help you clean up. It got pretty messy."

Tara stared at Willow, and frowned. "What am I doing? I know nothing of this girl, and still I hit on her! But... she's so beautiful. She just... shines."

Tara shook her head. "Sorry, let me get that." She scooped up all the pieces, and took them to the waste basket.

Willow tilted her head slightly, and looked at Tara. "What was that? I don't know what happened. It just... I feel funny. But her eyes. There's just something about her..."

She got up. "I think I should go. I should go study, and Buffy is probably wondering why I've been gone for so long. I'll call you later. Maybe we can get together again soon, and try another spell?"

Tara looked up at her. "Alright. I-I have to pick up these books and stuff. I'll wait for your call Willow." She smiled.

Willow smiled back, and opened the door. "It was great doing the spell. Maybe next time, I won't goof."

Tara laughed slightly. "Alright. Bye!"

Willow waved. "Bye Tara. I'll talk to you later."

She closed the door behind her. Tara sat on her bed.

"I love her smile. I feel so good inside. We've barely known eachother... but there's this connection. What secrets do you have Willow?"

Part Four: Secrets

Tara was in the library, reading over some books and notes for one of her classes. She couldn't concentrate, thoughts of Willow kept popping into her head.

She hadn't seen her in the past four days, but they talked on the phone a couple of times. She smiled, and began to try and read her notes again.

"Did you hear about what happened to Willow Rosenberg?" Tara turned her head curiously, and saw to guys talking at the table next to her.

"No," said the guy who was wearing a green shirt.

The guy wearing a baseball hat replied, "Her boyfriend Oz, just packed up his stuff and left her. No one really knows what happened, but he's been gone for almost 2 weeks, and it doesn't look like he's comin back."

The green shirted guy laughed. "Dude, that sucks! But she's pretty cute. Maybe I can catch her off the rebound."

They gave each other a high-five, and both laughed to themselves. The baseball hat wearin guy noticed Tara staring at them.

"What are you starin at? Oh..." The guy winked, and blew a kiss at her.

Tara looked down quickly. "N-n-nothing. I was just l-leaving." She grabbed her things, and ran out into the hall.

"Geez, what's her deal," laughed one of the guys. "Beats the hell outta me," the other replied.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tara laid back against the wall, breathing heavily.
"Why didn't she tell me. Does she not trust me? She said that she would be there for me. Does she think I wouldn't do the same? If she's hurting, I could comfort her. If she's crying, my shoulder is here. Oh, Willow..."
She walked slowly back to her room. Her eyes were a bit wet, her face a bit red, and she just stared down at the floor.
"Tara! I was looking for you!" She looked up, and saw Willow waiting for her in front of her room.
"W-willow. Hi."
Willow saw the tears in her eyes, and that her face was a little red.
"Tara...? What's wrong? You were crying. Did... did something happen to you?"
Tara wiped her eyes with one of her hands. "W-w-willow. We need... to talk."
Willow stepped forward a few steps. "T-tara? Is something wrong?"
Tara opened the door, and led Willow inside. Willow closed the door behind her, and Tara sat on her bed.
"Tara? What's the matter?" She sat next to her on the bed. They looked into each other's eyes.
"Willow..." She looked down, frowning.
Part Five: I Need You
"I-I heard about... O-o-z." She looked down, with tears in her eyes.
Willow stammered. She couldn't think of anything to say.
"Tara..." She tried to put her hand to Tara's cheek, but Tara got up, and stared at the door.
"W-why didn't you tell me. You said I could always count on you. You can count on me too. If you're hurting, I want to help you. I'm your friend, and friends don't keep secrets like this. Didn't you think I would want to help you, that I wouldn't feel your pain?"
Willow got up from the bed. "Tara... I-I didn't mean to hurt you. I should have told you about Oz. We're friends, and you're right, they don't keep secrets. I would want to be there for you, if you were hurt. Can you... can you forgive me?"
Tara turned around, tears streaming down her face. "How could I not. You're... my b-best friend Willow. Even though we've known each other for a week, it feels like a lifetime. I would never want to give it up."
Willow looked down, Tara's hand was holding onto hers. "Tara..."
She threw her arms around Tara, and embraced her tightly. "I don't want you to cry. To hurt. I have enough to worry about, and making you cry doesn't help. I need you Tara. You're one of the only things I have left."
She pulled away, and stared into Tara's bright eyes.
As if some magnet were pulling at them, their faces drew closer, their lips nearing the other's.
Suddenly, Willow's watch began to beep loudly. "No! I forgot, I set my alarm on. I have to go to Giles'!"
She let go, and Tara's arms slowly dropped.
"I'm so sorry, but it's important that I go! They need me!" She grabbed her books, and ran to the door.
"Bye Tara. I'll see you later okay?"
She smiled, and left the room, leaving Tara standing there.
Tara felt her arm. She wrapped her arms around herself. She hugged at herself tightly, and sat down on the bed. Her eyes became moist again, her head down.
She looked back at the door, and whispered. "Willow... I need you too..."
This is an intriguing fic, with w/t getting closer quicker, or so it seems. I am wondering how Willow will deal with both her attraction to Tara and the loss for oz. And Tara's so gone already.. very cute.
