Point of Origin part 3
“You were there looking for me?” asked Willow
“I thought m-m-maybe we could do a spell…make people talk again. I’d seen you…in the w-w-wicca group. You were different from them. They didn’t seem to know…”
“What they were talking about?” said Willow
Tara smiles at the red head knowing that she was getting it, that maybe she had found a friend. “I think if they saw a w-w-witch they would run away”
“Yeah” said Willow smiling. “So how long have you been practicing?”
“Always” said Tara. “I mean since I was little…My mom used to…she had a lot of power. Like you.”
Willow looked surprised but pleased “Oh, I’m not…I don’t have much in the way of power, really, I mean most of my potions come out…soup. Also spells going awry, friends in danger. I’m definitely nothing special.”
Tara looked Willow in the eye. “No, you are” she said with the deepest sincerity feeling it in every pore of her body. Then she looks away embarrassed, worried that she may have blown it by being so open.
“Well I thought we made a pretty good team…not getting killed at all…with some soda machine, boom! Pretty cool. Seems like you’re kinda powerful.” Said Willow.
Tara still looks embarrassed “I’d like to be. I feel like I’m stuck. Like I’m at the door but it won’t open.”
“I know exactly what you mean,” said Willow and she smiles at the blonde girl who returns it and they look at one another for a moment and something passes between them, a blossoming feeling of connection.
“Uhm do you w-want to practice with me sometime” asked Tara. “I mean only if you r-really w-want to”
Willow reaches forward and touches Tara’s hand to calm the nervous girl “I’d love too, it’d be really cool.”
“Do you know what those things were?” asked Tara changing the subject finding even the slightest touch from Willow almost to intense to bear
“They were called the gentlemen,” said Willow then she clapped her hand over her mouth knowing that she shouldn’t have said it.”
Tara looked at Willow’s reaction curiously “H-how did you know…”
“I shouldn’t really tell you,” said Willow.
“Oh, I’ll go. I’m s-s-sorry if I upset you” said the blonde.
“No, Tara no, it’s just, look I’ve got study group in a second but can I meet you some other time, Please, I promise I will explain, but I can’t not here.” Said Willow desperately hoping that other girl would understand, now that she had found this person she didn’t want to lose her.
“Okay” said Tara and walked with away her shoulders hunched and her arms wrapped around herself.

Willow went into the library and made a pretence of studying, instead her mind was in turmoil she knew she had just hurt the other girl’s feelings and the guilt was biting into her but she couldn’t tell her about the Scooby’s; could she.
Then again she was a witch and she knew about magic, real magic. Maybe she should tell her; she really wanted too. Was this shy girl the person who she had been waiting for, someone who could teach her about magic and she seemed so sweet, so different from the people she was used too.
Willow was shook out of her revelry by the library floor and walls starting to party by themselves. She dived under the table so that she could ride out the tremor.

Tara went to her room, she wasn’t sure what to think or feel about her latest encounter with Willow. Was she fooling herself or was there a real connection between the two of them. It had felt real and she just hoped that she hadn’t driven the red head away with the openness of her feelings towards her.
She wondered if Willow knew this place was a hellmouth? If that was the thing that was making her so nervous then maybe she should just come out and tell her that she already knew. She hadn’t known until she had arrived in Sunnydale but it had soon become apparent to the young witch that there was something wrong here. The whole feel of the place was wrong so she had decided to look into the history of Sunnydale and it hadn’t taken her long to figure out what Sunnydale was. She had laughed to herself when she found out, thinking the fates must have conspired against her for her to end up in this place.
She hoped it was that and not… all thoughts disappeared as the room started to shake, her first earthquake, she did as she had been shown and ran and stood in her closet doorway.
**************************
Willow felt really down, the last couple of days had really dented her confidence; Percy calling her a nerd, Spike making fun of her. So why was she standing outside the door of a girl she didn’t really know?
Almost on instinct Willow wanted to run away; she felt so nervous. She didn’t really understand why, it’s not like she hadn’t told people before about the gang and the things that they did.
Just as she was about to turn and go she noticed Tara walking up the hall “Hey your out late tonight”
Tara looks up surprised; she had been deep in thought about the very person who was actually standing outside her room. “I w-was uhm in the library studying. Do you want to come in?”
“If you don’t mind. I mean if this is a bad…”
“No, no it’s cool,” said Tara pushing past the red head and opening the door.
Willow stands in the doorway her mouth wide open “Wow, I mean I know some of us like to make our room special but wow”
“You like it?” said Tara looking surprised
“It’s fantastic, very witchy” said Willow walking around the room picking up various items and taking in the titles of the various books on witchcraft, she then stops realising…“I’m sorry I’m touching all of your things.”
“You can touch whatever you want,” said Tara who then blushes realising the implications of what she had just said. “Sit down”
Willow sits on the bed and Tara sits across from her in a chair. “I think the other day I hurt your feelings and I didn’t mean to…it’s just I don’t know how to tell you this…”
“Sunnydale’s on a hellmouth” said Tara and the blonde witch quite enjoyed the look of astonishment on the computer hackers face.
“You knew, how did you know? Do you know about Buffy?” said Willow genuinely surprised.
“Buffy who’s Buffy?” said Tara.
“Thank goodness, because, you know, if you knew who the slayer was…”
Willow looks up to the ceiling. “I suck at keeping secrets don’t I”?
“Y-your friend is the v-vampire slayer?” said Tara.
Willow then spent one of the most enjoyable evenings she had for a while telling the blonde witch all about the Scooby gangs exploits. She loved the way Tara has just sat there wide mouthed and looking at Willow with quite open admiration; it made the redhead feel really special.
Willow suddenly catches sight of Tara’s clock “Gee, it’s getting late, can I see you tomorrow; maybe we can practise some spells?”
Tara couldn’t quite believe her ears: Willow wanted to see her again. “Sure that w-would be great”
These five words in my head scream "are we having fun yet?"
