PART 9



Oh, God…I’m SO in love. Now what do I do? The redhead was sitting on her bed in her room. She was contemplating her choices with Tara. Should I tell her? Like that’s even an option. I have no bravery left in me when it comes to telling her that. I don’t know what she’d do if I did, anyway. I hate this! It’s so frustrating! Why can’t I just tell her? Why isn’t it considered normal for a woman to love another woman? It doesn’t change anything…the main reason is there. Love. I just wish that she loved me the same way. Willow frowned. I talk too much in my head, even!

“Okay…So, Willow…I’m in love with you.” Tara was walking along the deck, trying to figure out what to say to Willow when she got to her room. What do I do? “Umm…W-Willow? I just wanted to say, I understand if you never want to see me again, but I have to get this off my chest. I am in love with you. Absolutely, completely. Nothing could stop me. I’m sorry if you hate me now. I just thought you should know.” Tara sighed. “What do I do if she says that she hates me? I’ll probably break down again. I hate how frustrating this is!” She nearly yelled that last sentence out loud, and people who were still out on the deck looked in Tara’s direction. She smiled meekly at them, and continued on towards Willow’s house.



“Calm down, Tara,” she whispered to herself. “It can’t go that bad. Anything has got to feel better than this complete uncertainty.” She was nearing Willow’s cabin, and she saw it ahead. She got within twenty feet of the door, and spun on her heel, nearly running in the opposite direction. What am I doing? Do I really think that she can return my feelings? She kept walking away from Willow’s cabin and she thought, I’m doing it again, aren’t I? Running away… Tara stopped and started back towards Willow’s room. I can do this…I can do this.

Willow looked up. She thought she had heard someone knocking, but didn’t know who it could be. I wish it was Tara.



The rapping became louder, and the redhead rose to answer the door. She pulled the door open, letting in a rush of air. Standing there was a windswept blonde.



“I wish I had a million dollars,” Willow said under her breath.



“What?” Tara was confused.



“Oh, nothing. My wish was granted just now, so I figured I’d try it again.” Willow laughed.



Tara smiled, the redhead’s laughter was beautiful. “And what was that wish?”



Willow’s eyes sparkled mischievously. “Ahh…but if I told you it wouldn’t be a suprise.”



Tara laughed lightly, but then they fell into silence.



“So…” Willow spoke to break the silence.



“So?” Tara replied awkwardly.



Willow squirmed uncomfortably. “Do you want to sit down?” She gestured towards the bed that she had just occupied.



Tara smiled, and moved to sit on the bed.



Willow followed, and sat down very near to the blonde. “Did you need something?”



“Actually, yes,” Tara replied evenly.



Willow brightened. “Well, name it,” she said, eager to help the woman she loved.



“I needed to talk to you.” Tara’s stomach flipped again.



“You did?” Willow squeaked. Oh God Oh God Oh God Oh God Oh God! She figured out how I feel towards her! “What about, exactly?”



“Well, it’s something that’s been on my mind ever since I met you. And I really need to—“



Willow’s lips closed over Tara’s, the redhead’s eyes closed. Tara’s, on the other hand, were wide open in shock. The shock melted, as she did, into the kiss.



It was unlike anything Tara had ever felt before. She had been kissed before, but she had never felt so alive. She felt Willow’s tongue tease her lips, seeking entry. The full lips of the blonde parted, allowing Willow to deepen the kiss.



Willow wrapped her arms around Tara, pulling her close. The redhead’s senses were on fire.



As air became an issue, the blonde pulled back reluctantly. As she and Willow gasped for air, she rested her forehead against Willow’s.



“Where’d that come from?” Tara asked breathlessly.



“I have a confession to make,” Willow said quietly.



Tara pulled back to look into the green eyes of her love. “Yes?”



“I’ve been dying to do that ever since the sunrise,” Willow said quickly.



Tara grinned. “You mean I’m not the only one?”



Willow shook her head.



Tara leaned in again. The kiss was achingly soft and slow, as they gently explored each other.



As Tara pulled away again, she whispered, “I have a confession to make, too.”



Willow smiled tenderly.



“I’m absolutely in love with you.”



Blue eyes pierced green, as the emerald orbs filled with tears.



“Don’t cry, love. I didn’t mean for that to make you cry,” Tara said quickly.



Willow smiled, and took Tara’s hands into her own. “They’re happy tears. I love you so much.”



It was the blonde’s turn to cry. “Really?” She choked out.



“Really.” Willow squeezed Tara’s hands reassuringly.



“Willow, will you please kiss me?” Tara asked quietly.



“Can I never stop?” The redhead asked.



“Please don’t,” Tara said.



“Never, my love.” Willow leaned forward.



“No.” Tara placed a finger to the redhead’s lips. “Forever.”



“Forever.”
