Yeah, I found it kind of....meh.

Nice to have Helena back. Yay for that.

Bette and Tina were sweet. Bette seems so calm and relaxed now. And so, so, so lovely. sigh

I didn't really understand Jodi's installation. She is a sculptor, no? Was there a sculpture there that I didn't see? At first, I thought all the video stuff was some kind of dramatic prelude to the unveiling of the piece, but then the scene just kind of ended. At any rate, that's pretty shitty of her. I have no issue with her being upset, angry, feeling betrayed, etc., and I have no issue with her channeling those emotions into her work, but that was such a public spectacle and it seemed to be designed purposefully to humiliate Bette.

I like Molly a lot. I didn't at first, but she grew on me. Plus, too, she is really beautiful. And she handled Shane really well. Good for Molly.

I've always been pretty neutral about Shane, but she is starting to bug me.

lol @ Kit telling Helena that Dawn Denbo and Her Lover Cindi came from HELL. (And yay for Cindi Tucker standing up to Denbo finally.)

Speaking of which...I have never purchased a bar before, but I'm pretty sure it takes more than one day to go from "Is this for sale?" to "I own this."

Awww, Jenny. Image

I hate having to dislike Alice. It would have been so much nicer if Alice objected to Tasha joining the police force because it's a damn dangerous job and she does not want to have to worry like that every time Tasha walks out the door. Totally believable, totally acceptable, and a perfectly good reason for two people to realize they want different things in life. But some lame "I hate cops" scene and then BAM "I'm gonna be a cop" scene...it just seems like lazy-ass writing. (And why hate on a cop who is obviously protecting the public safety? That cop who gave Melanie Lynskey a ticket wasn't being an ass or harassing her or anything.)

Oh, well, it's over now.

Showtime will NEVER convince me to watch the fucking Tudors, but I am definitely going to check out Tracey Ullman's new show. Yay!

Yeah, I would imagine it takes more than one day to purchase a bar. Still, that's more believable than Adele getting a three-picture deal after being brought in to direct the last half dozen scenes on a small, niche film that hasn't been released yet.

They did such a good job of slowly building up this mysterious, creepy character with Adele and then they just plunged into stupidity. Nobody is going to believe you can extort your way into the director's job. Or that you can throw one of the producers off the set and not get a career-killing reputation. I went from going, "Ooh, what's Adele really up to?" to getting emotionally pulled out of the story as I informed my television (and anyone else who would listen), "That's not possible!"

I've always loved the actors in this show but the writing is so hit and miss.

What the hell was all that with Shane.

First she does the noble thing with regards to Molly, and then screws over her best friend by getting in on with Nicky.

The thing with Molly was definately in character for her, given her history she cared enough to not risk her old ways resurfacing, and hurting her the way she did Carmen, but if she was anything, she was always loyal to her friends, so to do what she did to Jenny was just so off for me, particulary in light of their pot induced mutual appreciation thing.

As for the Adele arc, I fear this may be another storyline left hanging with no resolution of explanations.

Good to see Helena back, even if was only as deus ex machina to get rid of Dawn Denbo. I liked her lover Cindy f**king her over though.

I'm not sure how I feel about Alice just now, though I do think she has to take some responsibility for Tasha's decision regardless of what Shane tells her. I don't think Alice does domestic well, she's all about the drama, and now Tasha can be open and honest about her sexuality some of the frisson has gone from their relationship. Poor Tasha, I liked her.

I only hope that season six, being the last, gives the writers a reason to up the quality and go out on a high.

Molly's reaction to Shane's bullshit was priceless. It made me like her even more. She's too good for Shane anyway.

Some random thoughts on a very random, boring, slow, wtf? season finale:

"Are you gonna honk the horn?" :D Sigh. It started so good.

Then the Shmolly affair: I'm with Phyllis ya'll. I wouldn't want my daughter basically throwing everything (and with that I mean a very successful future) away for someone like Shane. I don't care how much Molly (thinks she) is in love, especially with someone as sex-fluke-induced as Shane. Are we supposed to belief Shane's gonna reel it back in just for Molly's sake? I don't believe it and neither should Molly. That's not to say she couldn't have a little bit of fun with Shane, all I'm saying to Molly is, don't get your hopes up girl, of building a lifelong future with Shane. Two mighty fine women have preceded you and failed. Plus, the two LOOK WAY ALIKE and that just creeps me out.

Heh, and I've written this prior to the scene where Shane indeed screws it up again. See?

I'm scared to wonder if Shane will ever find that one person she can be monogamous with at all. Jenny would be the most obvious option and after 5 seasons I somehow get why there would be a Shenny (even though I'm no shipper on their behalf), but I'm afraid they've fecked things up big time now.

And omg, was it mandatory to wear slutty make-up at Jodi's unveiling? Not that it ain't hot, Jodi looked especially fabulous, but Shane? She (in conversation with Phyllis) reminded me of Chris Crocker and that's just plain wrong. :P

Sigh IC, sneaky as a little devil, smooth as a mountain lion... I saw you!

Nice to see "Core Values" bite Bette in the ass, but Who the feck helped Jodi make that piece (of shite)? She's deaf right? So I'm wondering who helped her edit the audio bits of her work of art. Not to mention where the heck did she get it in the first place!? Argh the horror of this writing! It just all don't make no sense.

Alice and Tasha. Dagnammit Alice! I don't get why you want to ride a SCOOTER when you can ride a frikkin' MOTORCYCLE!! Ah remember the good ol' times when she and Tasha would argue about the US Army and then did the hot angry sex. Yehaw. In my mind they're still doing that, only now Tasha dresses up as a police officer and Alice is an innocuous woman who just happens to speed by Tasha's patrolling police car and... eh, maybe I'm having flashbacks to a certain dream in a certain holiday fic again... go readTHIS!

*shakes the fuzzy shivers off*

Wrap party Lez Girls. Nice location! TiBette dancing was hot, but at some point my blushing non-exhibitionist self said, "Uh guys? Might wanna get a room here," then shrugged and said, "Oh well..."

The only thing that saves this blasted episode for me was...the showing up of HELENA!! Hoo girl... heating up the place with your monetary power, grrrowl! She did look mighty fine as ever. Now all I want is wrap-up, wrap-up and some more wrap-up in the next season. Crazy antics may be nessesary but not unwanted as long as its l-o-g-i-c-a-l.

Eh, why get my hopes up.
Rick: "Gus... Ssssh... so, is it actually Alan that's giving you this faith, after he has cocktails with Gus?"
Olivia: "Okay y'know what, I don't know what they're drinking- The point is..."

Hey, Adsum. I edited your post a bit, just so people could tell what they were clicking a link to. It's not even a spoiler anymore, really, since Showtime is promoting this season with that info, but just in case.

I watched the first couple minutes. Eh. I'll withhold judgment til I see the whole ep. I don't exactly have high hopes for this season. Oh well. We'll see.

I'm actually a lot more excited about The United States of Tara. Toni Collette is awesome.

I'm so glad The L Word is back :) Showtime changed the schedule and didn't do replays and I didn't know my satellite was 2 hours ahead so had to watch it streaming on Netflix buuuut it was worth it! There are so many theories as to who kills Jenny but given the sneak peeks for the next episode I can only guess who did it. I'm definatly half and half when it comes to Tasha and Alice and the prospect of them being over.

And where the hell did Papi come from? Lol As well as Gabby? Veeeery random!

I had been trying to keep myself unspoiled concerning The Big L Word Death and just up until I was about to watch the episode, comedian Liz Feldman ("This Just Out" on AfterEllen) spoiled it for me! Damn you, you funny woman! :p

Oh well. I could've been spoiled in worse ways and the death wasn't that big of a surprise really. I actually feel like the writers and Ilene made a good decision by killing Jenny off and making the last season a mystery. IMO nobody really LOVED Jenny as a main character is supposed to be loved, but her antics were almost always amusing to me in some weird way. Still...

Jenny rocked this season premiere! I so so loved her rightful indignation and Mia Kirshner's performance this ep was superb. I really felt her hurting (especially if you read it in a Jenny's in love with Shane-way) and for everything she did, Niki SO had it coming to her. An ex-lover's revenge can be sweet indeed. And crazy, don't forget the crazy, HA!

Loved the throwing of the lamp and the can. ROFL! Jenny's so going out with a bang (no pun intended ;) )!

Tasha and Alice: so maybe they aren't gonna work out. Maybe they're breaking up. To me it feels refreshing, that if they do break up, it's gonna happen this... civilized and in a light-hearted, well thought out way. All because of Tasha of course, that woman is just too good to be true. Alice... meh. If they plan on Alice to carry the spinoff, they better make her like-able again, real soon!

Xena: Warrior Princess = grrrrowl! Too bad we'll probably won't see much of her.

Too little Helena. Again. :impatient

What about... Sgt. Duffy + Helena? Hot, no? :D

I did not dislike the reappearance of Papi and Gabby. I'm the kind of person who likes to have loose ties wrapped up, how illogical they may be. Cuz face it, we don't watch the L Word for show consistency.

I usually just accept anything the L Word throws at me, mainly because it expects so little of me as a viewer. When the show starts, my mind goes to zero and I zoom in on the pretty pictures and the naked boobies. Nah, just kidding.

But to be honest, I do forget most of the stuff that has happened before. For example the whole Bette and Tina cheating on Jodi thing. I forgot it and apparently Tina did too. Luckily other viewers did not and pointed out Tina's hypocrisy. Oh writers... Bad bad writing! Tina (Bette too) deserves better than that!

So. Who saw the Jenny and Shane thing happening? :| I called it before it was gonna happen lol But wow wtf talk about an odd pair!

It's sad to know there is only 6 episodes left. I'm loving the cameos! Not loving every story line though...
Spoiler:
.Max being pregnant defiantly was not shocking to me due to current events
but I love how Daniella Sea is almost totally unrecognizable to the point where it's almost...well...creepy.

Always glad to see Marlee Matlin still hanging around and how can I not mention Elizabeth Berkly! Ha Geez there's just too much to point out in this episode. And DYLAN! Woot. If anyone frequents ourchart and saw the Dinah Shore weekend fan contest "Be Scene" last year then you got to have a little taste of Helena/Dylan so I wasn't surprised to hear Alex was gonna be back!

I so look forward to next week! I get how they're setting it up like everyone has a plot to kill Jenny when my theory is she offed herself lol

I don't have Showtime and normally don't get to watch this show. Don't know any of the characters or story, but I'm sitting in the hotel in Detroit flipping channels, and I see this guy who looks JUST LIKE Kurt Cobain!

EDIT: That same episode was on again tonight. I didn't have the volume up again so I'm not really sure what was going on, but it was that scene at a birthday party. That character looked like a combination of Kurt Cobain and Willy Wonka ... it was the haunted look in her eyes that reminded me most of Kurt Cobain.

First of all, I watched the "pre-show" before the finale and I'm furious, FURIOUS that no mention was made of Willow and Tara in the "precursor" section of the show. How could this be? Were they totally out of it?? Damn, DAMN, DAMN AND HELL!!!!!

I totally agree with the above comments for the finale itself. Maybe I'm stupid but was'nt the big "who-killed-Jenny" questioned supposed to be answered. It was touted as if it were the equivalent of the old "who-shot-JR" cliff-hanger in the old "Dallas" show.

Am I dumb or did I miss it???

I don't think anyone killed Jenny imo.

Spoiler:
I think she planned this and that end of the video was some sort of suicidal note in a way.

But it feels like 6 years wasted and wtf was up with that creepy slo mo walking and smiling thing at the end? I thought it was creepy. The episode had a few great moments (Bette and Tina for one) and I kind of liked the video tribute and seeing Sarah Shai for 2.5 secs, but I feel like we missed out on something. Like there's just too many unanswered questions unrelated to Jenny's death.

Apparently if you check out sho.com there's some videos that will be posted that will supposedly answer questions but I think they should have wrapped everything up in the finale.

Lastly, I feel like the pre show special was more emotional then the finale. It wasn't intended to be something like "the history of lesbian tv" (there was actually a special on LOGO that ran for a while) so I wasn't bothered that they didn't mention Buffy but of course when speaking of something lesbian related in terms of TV shows they OF COURSE have to bring up Ellen.

And that's all lol

Re: The L Word - Lesbian Series for Showtime Network

I had read an interview with I.C. in the LA Times a couple months ago in which she stated that she would not answer the question of who killed Jenny. She didn't think it was important:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

According to Chaiken, the whodunit will end unsolved. "There are ways I could still answer it if the need were to arise," she said. "But I don't actually feel compelled to answer it. The show is about character and relationships, and I used this story to deeply explore those relationships. It's a risk not to solve a mystery, admittedly."

Chaiken seems to have embraced the possibility that her ending will confuse or even anger viewers ("You're absolutely failing if you don't have plenty of people ranting and raving," she said). She is also aware that for the first and only successful television show about lesbians to end with a dead lesbian -- most likely murdered by another lesbian -- is politically charged. ("I'm mindful of it," she said. "But I've always considered my primary responsibility to entertain and tell good stories.")

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Personally, I think not revealing how Jenny died just makes I.C. feel clever. And I doubt that when she began with this show that her intent was to get people ranting and raving. I think she put the show together, noticed that people were ranting and raving, and concluded that this must be a good thing. Otherwise, it could only mean she was doing something wrong, and that couldn't be possible.

I agree with the folks who think Jenny offed herself. She was far more capable of suicide than the others were of murder. But having all the characters walking toward the police station smiling and giving each other conspiratorial looks gave the impression that they all got together and killed her. I don't think that was what the creators intended to imply, but it was kind of creepy looking.

I have always thought this show was well acted, and that's what kept me coming back, but story-wise it was inconsistent to the end.

One last little tidbit....in that special she said something along the lines of that if she knew how much of an impact killing of Dana would have had then she probably would have reconsidered it. Screw that she knew what she was doing, no character on that show can ever be happy.

Not to whiz in the punch, but I really liked the ending. In truth, I thought it was the best episode of The L Word that I've ever seen. I like the way the characters, in the police station, talked about Jenny, struggling to come up with something to say other than "complicated."

I'm pretty sure that Jenny jumped off the deck in one last major lesbian hissy fit, but then again, I always thought that's what was going to happen.

This was always a show about Jenny because I think that Ilene Chaiken IS Jennifer Schechter, with her affectations about writing and major ability to keep everyone stirred up and mad at her. So, it made perfect sense to me that Jenny's demise was the end of the show.

Just watched it last night - bizarre. I thought the whole season was lame to be honest in comparison with the other 5. The Shane/Jenny thing was ridiculous - and there wasn't enough of the self-acknowledgement that there was in season 5.
