When I was a kid, when our shitty black and white tv set broke, my father would say, Come on, let's have it fixed, it's like having a dead thing in the house. Before the Revolution, there was nothing to watch except communist propaganda and, on Sunday, some Romanian kid shows and Soviet cartoons that, as I found out later, kids in Mongolia also watched. After the Revolution, the tv craze erupted and a surging wave of tv channels swept everybody off their feet. So, like everybody else, I was a slave to television until I got into college and moved the hell out. Now my parents have 3 functioning tv sets and I have none. Romanian television is as bad as you can imagine, but it doesn't matter, little of it is actually Romanian anyway.
So I moved on, you can say, I'm a slave to the Internet now.
