This is like the second time I'm going "OH MY GOD" (see re: Girltrash, heh) in deference to Miss Benson.

So, yeah, the article's pretty much about a new movie called "Bonding" which will star a famous actors couple here in the Netherlands, Antonie Kamerling and Isa Hoes. The movie's about a military police officer, (played by our lovely Amber, yay!) who's investigating a case of serial-killings among old-soldiers. Antonie will be playing the part of the lieutenant, who's helping to solve the case.

Hmm... I wonder what the movie will be like, considering the title... and uhm, don't really got if this will be an English-speaking production of if Amber's gonna go crash-course in Dutch this summer?! Either way, I KNOW I'M GONNA LOVE IT (even if this movie only has a budget of 200.000 euro's !

AND ANOTHER OMG! Filming starts end of June in BREDA!!! This is like FAITH or something, since I will be (if I get through the selection) starting my Media and Entertainment Management course there...

One thing I'm curious about: Does Amber speak Dutch (or German)? Will she be saying her lines phonetically, or will her character speak in English?

It could be very interesting if she learned the part phonetically in Dutch. I can remember when Charles Bronson insisted on learning his part in French for the film "Passager de la Pluie" ("Rider On The Rain" in English)--he became a MAJOR star in France!!!!

I'm just really glad that Amber seems to be getting ALOT of work lately. Usually, the older an actress gets, its the opposite that occurs. And for a large part (OK, with the exception of Gryphon), they are really good roles.

Awww lol, I sure do miss that currency. What I also just realised is that I'm probably gonna see Amber on the big screen for the very first time! (the movie is planned to be realised somewhere next year in Dutch cinemas) And... and... maybe, just maybe, she'll also be promoting the movie by attending the NFF (Dutch Film Fest) which I am a volunteer of every year?!? Please oh please , or am I asking for too much?

For those of you who probably don't get a word of it, I'll try to translate.

First of all, to put everyone at ease (or not ), the movie will be in English! (aww, shucks, I was looking forward to hearing Amber say naughty stuff in my native tongue, heh). It also says they plan on releasing this movie before the end of the year! (me going WTF?). So okay. You know what I'm gonna do? E-mail the directors and ask if they'll be needing some help. This entire weekend I've been helping out a very good friend of mine on making a short and I can honestly say that I can be quite useful when it comes to assisting on set and, OMG, THEY NEED ACTORS! I've just found Casting information online and... well, let's say it has A LOT OF INFO! what to do, what to do... well, it's online, so I guess it's for anyone to see, and ofcourse I cannot deny the Kittenboard anything, so... here's the link:

Well now this is interesting news indeed. Anthonie Kamerling and Isa Hoes are not small fishes in the Dutch acting pond, so I must hope the story will be good, as it probably was not the money that lured them into doing this movie. Low budget it is, but it is probably not going to take a long time to shoot and will likely have little to no special effects to use up lots of euros. I´m looking forward to this alright.

edited to add: Heh, I read that link to spitsnet, if what that dude is saying is correct, I will have to see this movie first to believe it will get made. Among other things he says De Haas and Borrias still need ´a couple of hundred thousand more´ in order to make it. (That suggests to me the budget will be higher than 200000.)
Like Rocktoddy said, according to the info that guy posted, the movie is supposed to take place in NY but will get shot in Breda. That sounds silly to me. I personally find it rather annoying when I see a movie that supposedly takes place in say Amsterdam, and it is so clearly not even shot anywhere near the Netherlands. NY is so recognizable, I don´t see how they can get away with pretending by using such a totally different location. Now I am still looking forward to this, if only to see whether they can pull it off.

Actually, it's pretty darn amazing what they can pull off on screen these days. Here in the US, we've had to put up for a while with either Vancouver or Toronto passing for New York (or any number of other American cities)--it's a matter of making careful use of "stock shots" of NYC (these are easily available) coupled with either matte paintings or CGI backgrounds. For interiors, of course, it doesn't matter where you are .

I had personal experience of this recently: my tiny village is unique in having an old-fashioned "single-screen" movie theatre. This fact caused an independent film company to use the village and its theatre as a location for a film set in San Francisco during the 1950s!!!!! (Hint: they parked a few "vintage" cars on the street, and used facades to disguise the street lights).

I agree, though, that it will be tough to make the beautiful, historical city of Breda (yes, I actually was there in 1970!) pass for NYC.

Well, I am looking forward to seeing if you are right. And as Breda is part of this movie it is not all that off topic of me to ask how in the world you ended up there in 1970? It isn´t really the obvious touristy place to be, at least not when you´ve come flying here from halfway across the world.

Hello again, Dr.G!
It so happens that I spent the school year 1969-70 as a student in France. As an organist, I was determined to visit and play as many of the famous European instruments as I could get to, so naturally I headed straight for the Netherlands as soon as Spring vacation rolled around.

I got to play many fine Dutch instruments (the Oude Kerk in Amsterdam, the Schnitger organs in Alkmaar and Zwolle [a lovely town, btw], etc.) but also missed out on a few. The two I regret most are the instruments in Haarlem (it was "all booked up") and Breda (I got to the town too late in the day--the person in charge of the organ had already gone home!). Nonetheless, I still got a very favorable impression of Breda, especially for its historical connection to the House of Orange (and, of course, every art student knows the famous painting "The Surrender at Breda" ).

I'd love to get back to Holland some day, but I fear that infirmity and poverty will not permit me to do much travelling any more.

I never watch Dr Who, so I can´t judge for myself if that worked. You mean they made it look like NY in 1930? I would think that would be somewhat easier than making it look like modern day NY which we see on the news and on TV so often.
Hemiola, that is most interesting. I hope you´ll get the chance to come over here again and play the organs (this sounds so odd to me, being a doctor and all ) you missed someday, please be sure to let me know, I´d love to hear you play.

This could be a really big hit for Amber. Dutch thrillers have a real habit of being dark and oppressive and if that mentality is placed on an American set thriller it could re-invigorate the police thriller genre.

Plus, Amber as a cop should allow Amber the opportunity that she is capable of playing far more than the love interest or the victim.

I think it's wonderful that Amber is going to play a cop. If you recall, Amber was going to play a cop in another movie called "Watchful Eyes", but funding for that movie fell through and our dream of Amber playing a tough as nails cop seemed to be out of reach...until now. I am looking foward to hearing any more info you may have on this movie.

Okay so I didn't get a reply back to my email about helping out on the movie, heh. They must've sensed somehow that I'm an Amberholic and decided they didn't need a crazy stalker-type fan running amok the set ! Oh well. Bummer.

So the news says that filming has been postponed (why am I not surprised? ) until after the summer, probably the end of september due to script re-writes!
I guess I should be totally stoked, since I'll be living in Breda then , but I would feel really bad for Amber if she already made it over here and then heard about the shooting-days being postponed. Hope that doesn't fcuk things up, oh well maybe she can enjoy some free time while she's here, who knows?
