I've re-read UC and Milestones and then as there was no update I read ALL of the others as well. Sadly there is still no update and now I have nothing left of Lisa's to re-read. An update would be nice, I want to know how Brianna and Bret are :)

Puff,

I've been doing the same as you.. I just keep rereading Lisa's stories and I gotta say, I cannot get enough!! I think the relationship between Brianna and Bret is just the cutest thing ever.. :)

Also, I cannot wait to see what happens with the Dawnster and Bre.. sooo cute, but do you have to keep throwing road blocks in their way!?! :)

And I gotta say, the return of the Maclay's has got me a wee bit nervous, Lisa.. they just make me so darn uncomfortable!! Couldn't you just prematurely lock Donnie and Beth in that nice little sanctuary holding cell that Sheila visited? It seems like the happening place for in-laws... :)

Tim. I hope your right. It's officially the longest cliffhanger now that even Final Exam has been updated before Lisa's fic LOL

Yes Tim, I'm with you...I can't wait to read the new stuff on Dawn and Bre. I'm sure it will be eye-popping. Doctors have such quirky natures. (I can't believe Lisa actually got me to LIKE Dawn)

Bzengo, I read your post and got a mental image of Lisa vaulting into an english saddle atop a giant squirrel! Commanding the stirrups and charging forward to the almond grove. *shakes head*

Maybe we can start a petition to get Lisa to leave out the evil kin folk of Tara's? Maybe if we sent her a large tub of Godiva she'd consider it???

I'm still looking for Willow to go postal on that snatch of a guardian....

Have to handle Tara's skinfolk sooner or later anyway. They could of course just drive of a cliff, that would work too :)

I don't expect Willow to go postal anytime soon. Maybe a bit at Brianna and her foolish challenge request, but after that she will want to take on her part of the magic burden which Tara now carries all alone. Now way in hell Willow will let that continue for much longer.

After that she'll likely be very carefull regarding bad temper/anger and other such emotions. Hmm... come to think of it, Willow only knows dark magic makes her do things she would normally consider 'bad', in LisaVerse she never got the OverTheTop demonstration of *why* dark magics and anger don't mix very well. (or actually they DO mix, which is the problem:) ).

As far as the guardian is concerned, I think it was Kaley or something close to that. Anyway, it's not a bad thing that at least someone says Tara was way out of line. Granted she said it a bit too much, but some waking-up was needed. Coupled with Kaley's history I don't see much reason to remain angry with her, she should apologize to Willow of course.

Dawn/Bre... well Bre will be in bed for some time me thinks, lots of oppertunities. If they want to risc taking them that is. Someone has to take care of Bre after all, any volunteers ? :D

Now looking how well the contact with the Rosenberg *cough*familly*cough* went, I'm not too happy about Tara's familly coming even close to her. Willow will happily burn Donnie to a cinder if he as much as tries to touch Tara of course, but such events will leave scars. Don't see much good coming from that meeting.

That pretty much leaves Willow and Tara dealing with Mage magic as remaining problem. I think that will mostly be a question of time, it shouldn't be (much of) a problem. Willow just needs some training, that should work since Willow is a rather determined student who now also has a specific goal (help Tara). It will be hard work for Willow, but if nothing bad happens it should work out alright.

Rather big 'if' there... :)

On re-reading Milestones I wonder who thinks Sheila Rosenberg is truly sorry for her attempt to kidnap Brianna ? I know she doesn't like she got caught in the act, but is she sorry for trying it ?? I myself don't think so. That she now knows Brianna has bodyguards doesn't change that, it only made her aware that she could have gotten injured during her attempt... self-centered care most of it.

Nope, Sheila R. is definitly NOT on my christmas list, heh... opinions welcome though :D . "Ceridwyn, defend" has to be the line I liked most in the story so far, heh... oh yes.

Postby theWTspell » Wed Mar 26, 2003 1:24 pm

ooooh i agree that Sheila Rosenberg is really not on my Christmas list...maybe cause she's Jewish... or maybe because she tried to take away the cutest kid in the world who just happens to belong to the cutest parents in the world..

gotta admit grimmy, your question about sheila got me thinking... much like you, I think she's lacking in the remorse category.. i read sheila as being to head-strong to believe that she did the wrong thing, not necessarly that she's darn awful and mean... love makes you do the wacky and i think that applies to parent/daughter love as well... that being said, i certainly don't think sheila will be mentioning the kidnapping incident again... she's a smart cookie and i think she knows not to try it anymore..

"Ceridwyn, defend" will go down in my book of favorite lines.. :) It speaks volumes about Bri's awareness and vulnerability, her and Ceri's relationship, and the protective nature of love... I absolutely adore Lisa's ability to take a two-word line and make it the most moving thing in the world..

Did i mention how much i loved the Lisaverse?? I'd take that over the Buffyverse any day...

-Stacy

who after all that discussing of Milestones is going to have to go and read it...again.. second time in two days. :) I compliment Lisa in making me shut my Hemingway book (for which I have a midterm on in two hours) so that I can go reread Milestones... a compliment and a place of blame incase I totally bomb the midterm!!!

Re: FF: Milestones (Sequel to Unexpected Consequences)

Postby miss calendar » Tue Apr 01, 2003 12:06 pm

Hi Lisa,

I read Unexpected Consequences and caught up with Milestones over the last couple of days and just wanted to say how much I enjoy your writing. I agree that you are the queen of cliffhangers (which luckily I didn’t have to worry about while I was reading but now I’m as desperate for an update as all the other kittens reading this fic). I kept telling myself I’d stop at a given time or when I’d read just one more chapter but then found myself unable to stop reading. If my cat hadn’t got fed up with the lack of attention and staged sit-ins in front of my computer screen I don’t think I’d have taken any breaks.

And that’s not just because of the cliffhangers, there is something about your storytelling that makes a conversation or domestic scene every bit as compelling as a mystic battle or love scene. I like the way you manage to blend humour and angst, tenderness and passion, drama and domesticity, romance and action. I also like the way you deal with important real-life issues such as lesbian custody or a fear of repeating patterns of abuse within the very particular fantasy world you have created.

While I like the Daughters of the Flame a lot ( an order of sword-fighting Wiccans, how cool is that!) they do seem rather bloodthirsty, often using lethal force when there are other options. I’ve become fond of Brent, Brigh, Ceri and Bre and as I have a soft spot for strong, cranky and determined old women I’m also enjoying Emily a lot. At the risk of being lynched, I have to say I also really love the Rosenbergs, especially Sheila. Not that I like her it’s just I think she’s a well-observed character (and I’m sorry to say she does remind me of certain family members.) However appalling her behaviour you have made her so much more than the caricature she was on the show which shall not be named. Yes she is the mother and mother in law from hell but you’ve shown that she genuinely cares for Willow, Brianna, Megan and even Tara and can at times be loyal, understanding and tender.

I absolutely adore Brianna – you’ve really captured what a child that age is like and at the same time given her a unique, distinctive personality. I’m looking forward to seeing what you do with Megan and in the meantime have loved seeing Willow and Tara being such loving parents. I suspect that just as their personal lives and relationship are entering a difficult time so their parenting role is about to enter a more difficult phase now that Brianna has decided she doesn’t want to become the Imbolc Mage. I’m not worried about Brianna invoking the challenge since she hasn’t yet come into her powers and has no mantle to shed. Presumably she will withdraw her request before she becomes the Imbolc Mage but in the meantime Willow and Tara will have to deal with the emotional fallout and the fact that Brianna has picked up on her parents’ fear and is now scared of magic.

I’m so glad that you’ve made Willow a mage too – I agree with Emily that it makes no sense for just one soulmate to be a mage. I’m also glad that Tara seems to be struggling with magehood and it’s not just Willow who has issues about it. Looks like some interesting times ahead as they both come into their new powers and identities. I don’t like the Maclays entering the picture at such a delicate time nor do I like the sound of Pastor Crow and the idea of Tara possibly being overshadowed. The Keeper's men lurking outside the sanctuary is ominous as well. Can’t wait to find out what happens next, meanwhile thanks for a terrific read.

Hey,

I just got caught up with the fic. I am totally in love with it. :applause You can't let Brianna do the challenge! She so little: NO! NO! NO! Dawn and Bre. Love that match up. Need to get that :puke girl out of there. can't wait for chapter 16. By the way, congrats on the grad. I know the struggle well. In it myself.

I'm pretty much checking this every day for an update, so I just wanted to ask whether there was a date set for the next update ... does anyone know? Even if it's something vague like 2 weeks, it would be a help.

Thanks, and have to agree with everyone else, I'm finding myself desparate to hear more about D&B ... guess we are all suckers for a new romance!! :D

Hey Sam...no, no one really knows when it will be updated...Lisa's been really busy. bzengo could probably explain it better, it's what she's been doing...I'll leave it to her. :)

It's hard to be precise, though. Alternate universes don't stay put. Sending him to a specific place is like, like trying to hit a puppy by throwing a live bee at it. Which is a weird image and you should all just forget it. -Willow in Triangle

Milestones and Unexpected Consequences have entranced me from the first few paragraphs. Few fanfic's, let alone published works, have that ability to transport the imagination to another plane and keep you there. My complements to you, Lisa.

I'll be happy to sit and wait patiently. Heck, I can image folks in the 1950's waiting for the next installment of "Lord of the Rings". The delay was tough, but it was well worth the wait.

Lisa you're amazing and I echo all the eloquent feedback that you've received so far.

I love your stories. They flow so well that before I know it, its silly o'clock in the morning and I have a full set of luggage under my eyes. Milestones is well worth the trip though. (Does it come with frequent flyer miles?)

I love the relationships that you have created, but I do have one question. What happened to Micheal, the teacher? Is he still held in the main house waiting for Tara to send Buffy to rescue him, or did he sneak out when no-one was looking? Okay that's more than one question and I know that everyone is kinda busy at the mo, however it would be nice for Aunt Fluffy to have some romance-eventually.;)

Read all your W/T fics to date...this one has me bumed, because it is my favorite and I have a gut wrenching feeling that it will go unfinished or be a long time in the making. [ The latter is great though because it means completion and will give me a reason to "go on". :) ] You alone capture the essence of these two wonderful soulmates, but what is best about this fic is that they are a loving couple and tight family from the start...and finally Willow is over the need to keep making amends...seems like it's Tara's turn thus far. I am totally into this story and what I think will happen in the future. That's what makes me tense because for most this would be an almost completed story, while for you it's most likely still the introduction! So , I'll wait as long as it takes...just so I know that you do plan to finish it. [ adore Brent, the kids, the "broken bed talk"...and the fact that Willow and her parents shared some time together. It's also fun to see how the relationship has grown and become more informal with Ceri and her mate.] I'm sure you've heard all the praises...so just times this by 1,ooo and add it to your list!

update on update! 16 to 'air" tuesday April 29th!

Postby Lisa of Nine » Tue Apr 29, 2003 1:00 am

Psst-- I've just escaped captivity. The feral squirrels have gone insane and I've been doing their laundry for weeks. You have no idea how hard it is to fold size 00000001 boxers. ;-)

Seriously...

I have been criminally busy. (Not with actual crimes, but I did spend 4 hours in the law library last week.) Please accept my apology for the delay. You are all so incredible. Thank you for the feedback. I feel so guilty for not posting sooner. I can now reply to everyone since I just finished chapter 16 and have some time.

Did I say that? Yes, I did. Chapter sixteen has been sent to my formatting guru. Once he adds the email buttons and a few other things (and points out any glaring errors) it can go up. Chapter sixteen will be posted tomorrow. Tuesday, April 29th. (2003- for those of you who want to smack me for taking so long)

Now, Tim suggested that I give a run down on where I left off in chapter 15 and list some of the "B" gals.

Buffy- that blonde chick. Pretty strong.

Brent- elder and Mistress of the Daughters of the Flame and leader of the Imbolc guard. Tara considers her a surrogate mother.

Brianna- A curious tike, age 5, soon to start kindergarten. Willow and Tara's first born. Willow's hair and Tara's eyes. She has their stubbornness- squared, hell, cubed. She still wants that damn kitten.

Bre- Her birth name was Amanda. She became Bre when she became one of the Imbolc Guard. Dawn's best friend since they were teens. One hot mama-yama. Dark hair and pale eyes that see only Dawnie. When we last left off, she was recovering from a shoulder wound and from Dawn's misunderstanding of a scene with Kaley the ho. um, I mean guardian.

Brigh- Ceridwen's wife and soulmate. She lives with Willow and Tara. She is more soft-spoken than Ceri, but her honor is above question. She was gutted protecting Tara and only stopped fighting when she passed out. She has since recovered.

Beth- Tara's cousin. Her worst fear is having her 'demon side' escape and hurting people.

Non B gals-

Diana- the doc who delivered Brianna and Megan. She is outspoken and has a nasty wit. She also loved Willow and Tara completely.

Cassie- Diana's wife. She is a seer as well as an ultrasound tech. She is still unnerved by Tara's place as former Imbolc mage.

Michael Anderson- nice guy. He is a teacher. Last seen wetting his pants when the guardians grilled him about Tara's injuries. Tara hand-picked him to be Buffy's new husband. We'll see how that turns out. Buffy takes direction so well.

Kaley- Guardian who came from England to join Brent's order. Her sister died protecting Tara and little miss Kaley has...issues. She also has the hots for Bre. Not an evil gal, but people who are hurting sometimes strike out. Not above starting a catfight. ;-)

Emily- a mage from England who admits to being in her 100s. No one is exactly sure how old she is and they won't risk pissing her off to ask. Emily befriended Anya and the two spent several months in England. She considers Anya to be a younger, less wild version of herself. She hopes to corrupt Anya soon.

Megan- the new head of the Maclay-Rosenberg household. She rules with an iron diaper and is quick to spit up on anyone who disobeys her.

There you have it. As soon as I get the formatted page back from my guru...it will be up.

Thanks again. I'm gonna get some sleep now. I will write replies tomorrow after I get the chapter posted. You guys rock.

g'night!
