Replies. Update coming soon

Postby Washi » Sun Mar 21, 2004 10:25 am

Hey everyone!

Sorry for the long wait, but life has been hectic and my muse has been in a bad mood lately. I sat down today, and I finally have time to write, so maybe, if you're lucky, an update might be up tonight. I said maybe. :grin BTW, check out my rewrite of The Pain In The Path Of Love, now named Here Without You. I have an update for that one ready, kinda, sorta.

But for now replies:

marciam: Hey you! I'm glad you liked this one. Actually, that one wasn't that cliffhanger-y. ;) Hopefully, your wait will be short. Thanks.

barnabasvamp: Hey! I'm glad you liked it. Sorry for making you wait. The Scoobies, all for one and one for... greasy cheeseburgers? :lol Thanks.

YMKAYo B! Thanks B, I'm glad you liked the deadline line. :lol

More coming soon, I promise.

thebardgirl: Hey Wombat! :lol I'm glad you liked this update and that it kept you on the edge of your seat. Thanks girly, and update coming soon, really.

SJ: Hey! Glad you liked it, and thanks. :grin

BytrSuite: Hey you! I'm glad you like the whole story, I hope I won't dissapoint anyone. :)

Yep, Willow needed the slap. Sometimes, her brain goes on and has conclusions that no one thinks of, even if sometimes her conclusions are wrong.

It seems to me that Dawn can be a whiny self-centered brat, but that maybe it's only a facade. After all, no one notices her really, and she needs to get attention someway. She hasn't figured out that just being yourself works too. Maybe, kinda, sorta. :lol

Thanks, and hope you'll enjoy the rest.

WillowPowered: Hey! I'm glad you liked it! Aww, shucks, all the praise is making me blush. :lol Thanks.

eveningstar845: Hey! I'm glad you liked it. Thanks and more coming soon. :grin

snuggle79: Hey! Glad you liked it. And yeah, I mean, why make Dawn the Key (coughplottwistcough) if you're not gonna use her later. Hello? that's dumb. :lol Thanks.

bt bob: Hey Ali! I'm glad you liked it. And nah, I don't have that much talent, compared to some other Kitten writers, I suck. :lol

Thanks for all the praise. And you'll have to read to see what happens to Willow. :grin

littlecrazy80: Hey! I'm glad ya liked it! And don't forget, they need to find it before they can start, aka, the wait from hell. :lol Thanks.

sabina: Hey! I'm glad you think I'm doing a good job at it. Yeah, they never really thought that Willow could be in such danger. The saying is true You never know what something means to you until you lost it. :(

Not saying anything about the ritual, you'll have to read it to know. :lol

Thanks.

Karmah: Hey Duffster! :lol

Yay! Banan Nut Muffins! :lol

Yes, you were right about the energy, but off on how it's going to be used. Which doesn't mean I'll be revealing any of the ritual before it gets here. :lol

Update coming soon, I promise.

russ: Hey! I'm glad you liked the explanation. I'm also glad that my logic made sense. :lol

Dawn will find out, but this is Dawn, she loves Willow, even if she did hurt her. You'll see how that goes. I even got a drawing I made of the tattoos, which kinda sucks, but yeah.

Yep, she needed the slap. Sometimes, a slap makes all the difference. :lol

Quote:
She's so determined to blame and condemn herself that she seems almost eager to simply give up and die, rather than take the chance of help offered. I wonder if this self-hatred is really part of Willow, or is a result of the darkness growing inside her. It almost seems the other side of the coin from the thoughtless overconfidence when she was practicing dark magick.

Thanks, and update soon, really.

jixer: Hey Jixer! First of all, I'm going to apologize for neglecting to tell you how much I'm enjoying The Instruments Available. I suck at leaving feedback. :lol

It seems to me everyone is rooting for Ruth and her slapping hands now. :lol I'm glad you liked it, and hey, maybe your muse and my muse went to vacation together, met, fell in love and forgot to come back . Hey, it can happen. :lol Thanks.

bluewillowwitch : Hey Grace! I'm glad you liked it. Yep, Willow is freaked out, who wouldn't be? "What can't we face if we're together?" is right. :lol

Thanks.

warriorlove: Hey! I'm glad you like it, thanks and more coming soon. :grin

TemperedCynic: Hey you! Mike, all your praise is making me blush like a school girl. :lol

I'm glad you like the interaction between them, it came naturaly for me to write it for some reason. And yes, hope keeps them sane in these dark times. Thanks and update coming soon.

Taras Shadow : Hey Baby! Aww, more praise. :lol Thanks baby, I'm glad you like it. Makes me all proud. :lol

As for the ritual, you'll have to wait. Yes, I am evil, and I know you like it. :lol Thanks

sam darls: Hey Sammi! I'm glad you liked it. Thanks, and more coming soon.

topSmaI: Hey Chelle! Don't worry about it, no sorries needed. :grin

It's not that you're not good at finding clues, it's just that my mind loves to make things more complex than they should be. :lol

I'm glad you like it, and I hope you'll enjoy the rest.

Thanks

SilverWingedNemesis: Hey Nickole! Is the corner comfy? :lol

Sorry for the wait, but you know, muses are all sneaky. I'm glad you liked it, and I so hope to have the update up tonight. Thanks. :grin

ladydameon: Hey! Well, I want more of the Staff, now would be good. :lol

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it, and I hope you'll enjoy the rest. :grin

lil wiccan: Hey! Wow, I made a lurker delurk, Go me. :lol

I'm glad you liked it, and yes, update coming soon. :grin Thanks.

Kytzya: Hey! And second person I made delurk. :lol

I'm glad you liked it, but please bear with me, I have lotsa stuff happening at the same time, such as learning how to play the guitar, writing, college, sites, avatar/Icon making, betaing for some people (which I try to do. :lol ) and general life. An update is coming soon. Really. And thanks.

TaraWillFan: Hey! I'm glad you like it. :lol

Update soon, really. Hope you'll enjoy the rest and Thanks.

na71684: Hey! Update coming, really! :grin Thanks

nazelhuts: Hey! Holy wow, at first , I thought I was gonna get a "this sucks, stop writing" speech. :lol But, I'm very happy you like it. :grin Thanks, and update coming soon!

Ok Kittens, going to write now, pray for my muse not to leave me. :lol Thanks to everyone, to those who read but don't reply. :grin

After a few moments of silence, Willow turned her gaze from Ruth to Tara.

“I wanna go home.” She quietly said, her voice childish.

Tara and Ruth just stared at her for a moment, their eyes wide. Willow bashfully lowered her eyes and began picking on her blanket.

“I mean, it’s not like me staying here will do anything, and I’m so tired of being here. I wanna be back at home, in my bed. I’m so tired of the sterile smell of everything here, it’s so cold, and I wanna be in a warm place. A-and, here, we won’t be able to do anything, I mean, it’s not like the hospital will allow us to do the ritual here. Of course, we can always put a masking spell, well, not we, more like you guys. And, a week’s a pretty short time, and we need all the reading eyes we can have, right? So, we could help, I mean, Tara and me, we could help instead of being here, doing nothing. And if, I mean, you know, I wanna be back home. Please, I just… I wanna go home.” She pleaded raising her eyes shyly to Tara’s.

Tara and Ruth looked at each other and tried to decipher the message in Willow’s babble. The blonde being more accustomed to Willow’s long monologues, quickly put everything together.

“Sweetie, I know you want to help, and you… you do have some good points, but do you think it’d be okay? I mean, you’re still sick. And you need your medication, and to have nurses around you in case something goes wrong. Because if something goes wr-wrong while we’re b-back h-home, then who kn-knows what m-might happen? I know we’ve t-talked ab-about this, b-but we-we sh-sh-shouldn’t temp-temp-tempt the f-f-fates.” Tara said, cursing her stuttering. She lowered her head, glad to have her long hair shadow her face to hide her trembling lower lip.

Willow kept looking at her girlfriend’s down-turned head while trying to soothe her by softly caressing her hand. She hadn’t seen Tara stutter this badly in a long while, and it scared her. It scared her because of the fact she might die, and it also frightened her because if she died, she’d leave Tara alone. And that was one of her worse nightmares.

Ruth looked at both of them silently, and she could feel the strain that staying in the hospital was putting on them. She wished she could say something to relieve the tension and to make their choice easier to make, but she knew it wasn’t her place to talk. And once again, she remained silent while she looked at the couple, thinking of her past, and of the what-could-have-beens.

she thought to herself as images engraved in her mind took life again.

Ruth was snapped back to reality when the door opened. A tall brown-haired man walked in, holding a clipboard. He stopped in front of Willow’s bed, smiling warmly.

“Good morning.” He greeted while flipping through his notes. “How do you feel Willow?”

“Um, good. Super even. Good enough to go out, smell the cappuccino.” She replied with a wide grin on her face, hoping to fool the doctor even though she knew it was a lost cause. She saw Tara scowling from the corner of her eye but didn’t say anything. Her hand caressing Tara’s was all the communication they needed.

“Well, smelling the coffee is the only thing you’re going to be doing, because you know caffeine is off-limits, right?” he countered, smiling at her. She scowled lightly and then nodded dutifully.

“Good. Now, as you already know, the potassium just won’t stay stable, and once again, I have to up the dose again. Do you agree Tara?” he asked, turning to the blonde. He had noticed her frown earlier and knew something was up between the lovers.

“I d-do. I mean, I agree.” She stuttered, looking into the doctor’s green eyes. He smiled and his eyes crinkled.

While they talked, Ruth had been silently studying the doctor. She usually couldn’t see people’s auras without her focusing crystal, but this doctor’s aura was blinding. It was as if someone had switched on a flashlight in the darkness, his core was golden and became deep blue as it expanded. He wasn’t a mage or a warlock, but he was just a good person, one who doesn’t know selfishness and who doesn’t let pain rule his life. She knew she could trust him.

Willow suddenly had an idea, and she couldn’t suppress the grin that emerged on her face. “Doctor Williams?”

“Call me Eric Willow.”

“Ok Eric. I was wondering if there was anyway I could go home, maybe get a nurse or something? I’m so tired of being here. I wanna go home with my snuggle-bunny.” She quickly said before she started to blush at the realization of what she just told the doctor. She turned her head and looked at her lover, who’s face was also beet red.

Eric and Ruth chuckled and looked at each other. But Eric quickly went into thinking mode.

“Well, I don’t know Willow. I mean, sure, we could do that, and I myself could come over and check on you, and I know a couple of very reliable private nurses. But, do you think you’d have the money for that? It’s not cheap. And it’s not exactly what I’d prescribe for you.” He explained, running his hand in his hair.

“I don’t think money’s a problem. And, I mean, here or there, there’s no difference, right? I mean, as long as the dose it up, everything’s good, right?” She replied. She knew that if she asked her parents, they wouldn’t refuse that to her, and her bank account wasn’t lacking in any way. She turned to Tara and noticed the blonde’s eyes were scrunched up in thought.

“Would it b-be safe?” the blonde finally asked, her eyes never leaving the doctor’s. She was incredibly frightened, and if she finally agreed to let Willow come back home, she’d have to be one hundred percent sure that nothing would happen to her.

“Well, as long as we keep the dose up, and that we test her blood everyday to check on that, I don’t see what could happen. Besides, you have my number, you could call me anytime of the day. But still, I wouldn’t recommend it, but I can’t make you stay.”

“Great! Now, how would we set this up?” Willow asked giddily. She was glad that she was going to go home. She was tired of spending all her time, awake or asleep, between those four washed-out walls. Also, she missed feeling Tara sleeping beside her. It was something that she hadn’t felt in a long time, and if her time on earth was short, she wanted to make the most of it. And waking up and falling asleep next to Tara was high on her “to-do-things-before-you-die” list.

“Well, my sister’s girlfriend is a private nurse, so I can call her. And you’d just need to sign the discharging papers, but once again, this is against my opinion Willow.” He stressed.

“I know, but I’m so tired of being here. Anything else?”

“Yes, I’m going to tell you now, but I’ll also give you this in writing. No efforts, no caffeine, no licorice root, no alcohol, basically a low carb diet, which means no starchy products such as potatoes or pasta, very limited dairy, eat lots of vegetable and fruits, like bananas, dried prunes, raisins, all sorts of salads, nothing too salty.”

“Wait, no bread?” Willow asked quickly.

“Very limited whole grain bread. And I mean it, only whole grain and very limited. Got it?” Eric asked, taking a very serious expression.

Willow nodded before she practically squeaked. “No coffee?!”

“None, and no tea, or soda, or anything like that.”

Willow pouted and nodded. “No coffee…” she mumbled under her breath. Tara smiled at her lover’s antics.

“Tara, I trust you with this, ok?” Eric asked, his face still serious.

“Don’t worry about it. I’ll make her eat extra-healthy.” She said, and he knew that she meant it. He nodded and smiled slightly.

“Alright, well, I’ll call Linda and ask her. I’ll also ask for a bunch of other tests just to make sure of everything.” He told them, taking notes. “I’ll see you later.” He finished before exiting the room.

“I gotta call my parents.” Willow said almost absently.

“I should get back to research. I’ll call in some of the other covens to research for the ritual. Be Safe.” Ruth said before leaving the two women alone.

*****

Ruth walked out of the room and found Buffy sitting on a hard plastic chair in the hall. Her whole body was slumped forwards, her elbows on her knees, and her hands around her neck, holding her hair as she cried. Ruth walked slowly to her and laid a hand gently on her quivering shoulder. Buffy raised her head immediately and hastily wiped her eyes with her hands, sweeping her hair back. She sniffled and tried to control her tears, swallowing them down repeatedly.

“Everything’s ok?” she asked Ruth, her voice still shaky.

“Quite so. It seems that all the requirements for the ritual to take effect are fulfilled. Willow wants to go home though.” Ruth said, looking down at the fragile Slayer. “Are you alright?”

“Yeah, I’m good.” Buffy replied, wiping her eyes again. In a moment, her usual “hear-me-slay” face was back. “I’m good.” She repeated, nodding lightly.

“If you say so.” Ruth replied gently. It was obvious the Slayer was anything but alright, but she wouldn’t force the girl to talk about her feelings. “Willow wants to go home.” She said after a long silence.

“She is?” Buffy replied, both happy and frightened simultaneously. Her mother had requested going home before her operation and she finally died back home. It was somewhat comforting, but at the same time, it had been a deeply traumatizing experience.

Ruth nodded and watched as fear once again took over Buffy’s face before it faded away and she smiled. “I’m glad, we miss her.”

Ruth allowed herself to smile and both women headed to the Magic Box once more.

Washi

I love ya but you are such a friggen tease:crash

I love Eric all Dr should be like him

and I am glad to see that Buffy is showing real emotions and not the what can I kill or I refuse to belive this kind and I am glad Ruth picked up on this. Poor Tara I feel the most for her she is torn between doing as her lover wishes or doing what she thinks is best and ultamently knowing she really doesn't have a vote. I hope willows plan to go home proves to be the best course of action for her and her snuggle bunny.

Great job sweetie I loved it

So Willow wheedles her way out of the hospital? Hmm, I wonder where this will take the gang. Ruth is a solid influence, and I suspect that Dr. Williams will make another appearance. Just my 2 cents worth.

Hello Kittens-

Tara's frightened, Buffy's rammed the lever to "Control Mode" and broken the lever off, and Willow wants the one thing in the world that makes her feel complete, even if it means giving up coffee. Tara may be a nervous wreck, but I'm wondering what's going to happen with Buffy if Willow has a reverse at home.

Waiting patiently for the next update (we're never satisfied, are we?)

I've spent the morning reading this story. My, what a rollercoaster ride. Your depiction of Giles' nightmare about Willow's funeral was really poignant. I think the fact that there are lovely light moments between our girls interspersed in the story really heightens the drama of the angst.

Looking forward to reading more from you.

Re: Update

Postby Grimlock72 » Fri Mar 26, 2004 8:25 am

Hmm...

It's not the lack of medical facilities at Willow's home that worry me. It's not knowing exactly why she wants to go home. I've heard of people wanting to go home 'one last time', even if unknowingly. I can understand though, if the hospital doesn't make you better you might as well go home.

Dr. Eric is definitly a good person, he did mention that Willow's pottasium won't stabilize though. Thats not good, if it's not stable it's harded to treat... almost like diabetus I guess. Measure, inject, repeat... and oh yes Tara *will* make sure Willow obeys all the doctors rules :)

Still wondering about this ritual and how it will solve things. Might need to re-read that bit but I don't think we know much about it already, besides that Ruth has read about it.

These were my favourite lines in this chapter:

Quote:

if she died, she'd leave Tara alone. And that was one of her worse nightmares

Quote:

And waking up and falling asleep next to Tara was high on her "to-do-things-before-you-die" list.

Again, great update.:applause

It's gonna be hard taking care of Willow at home with medication and blood tests that she needs. I'm sure Tara can do that though. She's good at taking care of people. And I can understand about willow wanting to go home. If I had a wk left, I would wanna be at home surrounded with people I love.

Now when will we get to the ritual? I'll be waiting for the update. Soon pls.:pray

Hey Kittens,

I'm sorry I've been neglecting this fic, but chat can I say? To be able to write, I need to be depressed, like really really depressed. As in "listening-to-sad-songs-and-crying-your-eyes-out-while-

thinking-there-is-no-more-hope-left" kinda depressed. And, for some weird reason, I haven't been depressed lately. My muse kinda left me I think. I think it's the spring in the air. :lol

I started writing an update but I have less than one page written, which is like nothing, since my usual updates are from 3 to 9 pages long.

I hope I'll have something up soon, because I know where I want this fic to go, I know what will happen, but it's like I'm blocked. Sorry for the long wait.

I'm also trying to find myself a webdesign and webmaking job for money, cause I, as everyone, need monetary goods ( :lol ), so if anyone has a job for me, yell (aka pm me or email me).

Now, I'm gonna go and either try to write some more, or just sleep for a while.

Thanks again, Kittens, you rock!

*hangs her head in shame*

I have a confession to make.

Not having been in much of a mood for angst these last couple of months, I've managed, for one reason or another, to avoid reading this fic until today.

All I can say is...boy was I ever being nuts! :crazy

The story you've put together here is amazing. I read it all in one go (it's now 20 to 3 in the morning), and was hooked from first to last. I particularly liked your characterizations of the Scoobs, and of course the fantastic W/T interaction. The whole story is just so infused with love, none more so than this line...

That one's staying with me, I tell ya.

My other :bow moments:

a) You remembered Dawn was a mystical ball of energy who might actually have a purpose! It's amazing how people who actually get paid to think of this stuff forget it, and yet you remember for free! It's like Christmas every day, Pens style.

b) You turned the crapolafest that was magic addiction on BtVS into a gripping, believable storyline, and it feels to me like you did it without breaking a sweat...not that this whole writing lark is easy, but that's the talent, I suppose. Making it look easy.

c) Your Xander is actually likeable. Hell, even your Spike is likeable!

I adore-a this fic,

Wanting more o' this fic,

ta,

mo.

No matter how short life may seem, it's still the longest thing you'll ever do.
