Summary: The Scoobies are a band from Sunnydale very alternate universe





The Scoobies were your average girl punk / ska band with Buffy on bass, Faith playing drums and Willow on guitar. The Scoobies like most bands really sucked. Faith couldn’t keep a beat through a whole song, Buffy couldn’t move her hand fast enough to get the right note, and Willow didn’t know any chords. They were pretty bad, but what they lacked in talent they made up in looks, and style. The Scoobies held their weakly practices at Willow’s because her parents were never around to tell them to play quieter, or to make requests. They were all sitting around, Willow and Buffy on a sofa against the room they use to practice in, and Faith in the chair next to them.



It was quiet, then Willow broke the silence.



“We suck”



Buffy and Faith looked at Willow and Buffy answered Willow



“You just noticed that?”



“Well, I knew it awhile ago, but look at us, none of us can sing. Every band has a singer, and what can we do with this, is this just a fun thing to do on the weekends? Is there a real point to us being in a band except we have nothing better to do? What are we - - “



“Red, stop talking.”



All of a sudden in was just as if a lightbulb went off in Willow’s head



“We should get a singer, you know, to cover up our junkie lack of playing skills.”



“How do you think we are going to get a singer Will? ”



“We could hold auditions, and put up signs all over town, about a girl band looking for a singer, that’s around our age, and put this address for where the auditions will be.”



“Sounds like a plan, I’m in, what about you Faith?”



“Works for me.”



The Scoobies plastered signs all over town, in the Magic Box, at the Espresso Pump, and most importantly The Bronze, which they thought would get the most singers. They made the audition date on their regular practice day, but a week later to get more people. The date for auditions came, and there was a big turnout. The headcount was 37 people. Willow took her spot behind a table with Faith and Buffy waiting for the performers, who each had a number, to come into the room. They called in the first person. She walked in with her head low, and her face hidden behind her hair.



“M-m-m-m-my name is Tara. Here is some in-in-information.”



With those two sentences Willow knew who was going to be the new lead singer.

Chapter 2



The staring contest between Willow’s eyes and Tara’s chest ended with Buffy’s interruption.



“So Tara, what will you be singing?”



“I-I-I-I will sing At Last by Etta James”



“Whenever you are ready”



Tara took a deep breath, and closed her eyes and turned a great song into the greatest song in the world.



At last my love has come along

My lonely days are over

And life is like a song



She started singing quietly, then opened her eyes staring at Willow for inspiration.



Ohh yeah yeah

At last the skies above are blue

My heart was wrapped up in clover

The night I looked at you



Willow just sat, her mouth wide open in awe of the beautiful voice coming from Tara.



I found a dream, that I could speak to

A dream that I can call my own

I found a thrill to press my cheek to

A thrill that I have never known



Ohh yeah yeah…

You smile, you smile oh

And then the spell was cast

And here we are in heaven

For you are mine....

At Last



Tara finished the song and Willow was slowly brought back into the world with a hard kick.



“Ow, Buffy that was my shin.”



“I had to get you out of La La Land somehow. Tara, I think we have all of your information here, we will call you if you made it or not.”



Buffy leaned over to Willow and whispered, “Willow, do you want to do a thorough interview, you know to make sure she’s not crazy?”



“Yeah, good idea, I’ll go do that.”



Tara and Willow walked into an office, getting away from everybody. Willow started the interview with the simple questions.



“So uh, Tara, that’s a nice shirt, what school do you go to, I don’t think I’ve seen you around here, did I mention that’s a nice shirt?”



“O-o-o-okay, umm thank you, I just moved, thanks. Can I ask you a question now?”



“Yeah, sure I’m all ears, well, not really, how could I stand if I were all ears”



“Why were you staring at me like that?”





What will happen next chapter, I don’t really know but I was thinking maybe later, much later Tara + Willow + drum sticks = ???

“Why were you staring at me like that?”



Now for the answer



“I wasn’t staring, and if I was what way was I if I was? I mean I was looking other places, not just you - Was it that obvious?”



“Well, you didn’t drool so I-I-I-I guess not, but I kinda did the same thing back”



“Really, then why were you looking at me the whole time?”



“Willow, that’s your name right?”



“Yeah.”



“I like you, and I think you like me. A-A-After you’re done want to do something? You have my number to call me.”



“Sounds good.”



Tara got out of her chair, she was sitting across from Willow. She walked over to Willow and kissed her. It wasn’t a deep kiss, but more of a kiss you greet somebody with. Tara walked out of the room, and out of the house blushing, not believing what she just did.



Willow was still sitting alone in the room in shock of what just happened until Faith walked in.



“Hey Red.”



“Wha?”



“We need you back in here.”



Willow turned around in her chair to face Faith.



“I’ll be right there.”

The auditions went well, all 37 people sang. Buffy Faith and Willow were sitting together discussing who they wanted based on personality, and singing ability. Buffy and Faith wanted Jamie Pressman, she wasn’t the best singer there (we know who was) but she had a scratchy quality to her voice that they loved, plus she sang Drain The Blood by The Distillers which was the type of music Buffy and Faith listened to all of the time.



“I think we should have Tara Maclay, I mean she is the best singer, I got a headache from just about everybody else.”



“Okay, she might be the best with range, and hitting notes, and I guess she knows how to read sheet music, and prolly took vocal lessons for a long time. That’s not really the point, Jamie sang The Distillers, Tara sang I don’t know what.”



“Yeah but you could listen to her voice for hours, just singing the phonebook or something.”





“Red, how about we let your chick sing in the band until we have a gig, she sings at the gig, but if something happens before the show where I can’t stand her she is out, if she is good at the show she stays, if we kick her out Jamie comes in. Can we agree on that?”



Willow thought about it and decided it was a good plan.



“Alright, she won’t let you down, I promise.”

Again I gotta say, loving the feedback, and it helps while writing. I haven’t had much time to write, but it’s better to have kittens that are angry because you take too long to update, then having no kittens reading, or was it better to update than to not update . . . I think I just confuzled myself which means it is time to start the story, yay!











Buffy and Faith left Willow’s to go home, it was getting late and Willow wanted to call Tara with nobody around. Willow thought about what she was going to do. She picked up the phone, dialed the first three digits, and hung up. It took Willow fifteen minutes of picking up the phone and dialing half of Tara’s number before she finally called, and Tara answered the phone.



“Hello?”



“Uh, Hi, is this Tara?”



“Yes, Willow?”



“I’m calling about the band and if you made it in.”



“Oh, is it good news?”



“It’s good, and bad, we should talk about it somewhere in person. We could go to the Espresso Pump and talk it over coffee or something.”



“Are - are you asking me out on a date?”



Willow took a breath and thought for a moment.



“Do you want it to be a date?”



“Yes”



Willow listened carefully to Tara’s reply repeating it over and over in her head.



“It’s getting late, you could come by my place and we could walk over there, it’s not that far from my house.”



“Well, I know where you live, so I could stop by in about ten minutes”



“Okay, umm, I’ll see you there, well here bye.”



“Bye”



With that Willow and Tara hung up the phone and just sat there, then they both realized that they had to get ready for their date.









That’s all for now, I’ll make sure to update sooner, and the next chapter should be good, their fist date. Later!

Thnks for the feedback, wish I had more time. I think I’ll just do the date this chapter it isn’t the whole date really, just the main parts.



Tara searched for an outfit but realized she spent about fifteen minutes trying to figure out what to wear. She looked at the clock and decided to wear the first thing she pulled out which was a blue low-cut top that hugged her curves perfectly, and a pair of jeans. She brushed her hair out and decided on putting it up. Tara left in a hurry to get to Willow’s hopping she wasn’t going to be that late.

Willow rushed to her closet pulling out every outfit she had, trying to think about what to wear on her first date with Tara.



“This is nice but do I want to look sexy, or cute or just like me?”



She looked through all of her clothes and decided on a low cut purple three quarter shirt and khaki cargos. The door bell rang and she rushed down the stairs with half of her shirt on. Right before she answered the door Willow realized her shirt wasn’t completely on, quickly putting her arm through the sleeve. Tara caught a small glimpse of Willow’s abs.



“S-s-s-so are you ready?”



“Yeah, we can talk on the way there.”



“Alright.”



They were almost at the Pump when Tara finally spoke up.



“Did I make it?”



“Yes, but it’s more complicated than just that.”



They finally reached The Espresso Pump. The place was crowded with only one booth left and it was all the way in the darkest corner, Willow ran for the table and almost tripped but caught herself. Tara and a crimson Willow sat across from each other, and both ordered mochas. Willow started to explain everything.



“You are in the band.”



“Then w-w-w-what’s the complicated part?”



“I liked you, a lot really, but Buffy and Faith liked somebody else. I convinced them to have you in, but they have one condition.”



“W-w-w-what is it?”





Willow took a deep breath, and continued.



“If you screw up once you are out and the person they liked is in.”



“Oh, that . . . . oh”



Just as Tara said that their orders were ready and brought over.



“So, umm”



“Well, being that we are girlfriends, and out on a date I think we should talk about stuff. I don’t know what we could talk about. We could talk about, hey this is good mocha. How long have you been singing?”



“A-a-a-almost all my life, well since I was little. My mother was a singer, she, she had a really powerful voice.”



Willow decided at this point to get up to sit next to Tara. Now there was nothing separating them. Willow leaned in close to Tara, cupping her face, they were about an inch apart with their eyes closed.



“Excuse me, but here is the bill.”



Willow and Tara jumped back and blushed noticing they were caught. Willow looked up at the waitress who ruined the date.



“Thanks.”



Willow payed for the tab and they walked out with their drinks.



“W-w-w-well that was.”



“It was kinda not good, more than kinda, it was bad, and filled with not goodness.”



“We could go to you place and talk.”



Willow turned ten shades of red over the ten shades she already turned.



“Sounds good to me, we could uh, continue our conversation that we were having, before the waitress came, I mean, interrupted us.”



They walked back to Willow’s and Willow was doing most of the talking, it was less like talking, more like babbling about nothing.
