Postby Avern1 » Tue Jun 03, 2003 11:38 am

Ok.. I am Highlander fan especialy the series with wonderful swordsman Adrian Paul, great joking Peter Wingfield (as wonderful 5000 yr. immortal Methos), Amanda queen of thieves and nice view of joke-fight-fantasy series... Some jokes are wonderful...(sad is that I dont see seasons 5 and 6 where is more of Methos and wonderful two episodes Four Horsemen and Revelation 6:8 where is Kronos)...

Its somebody whos speak with me about this series...

I love Highlander too. The Methos 4 horseman episode was one of the highlights. I love the Cassandra/Methos dynamic. The 6th seson had alot of episodes that introduced new characters for possible spin offs before they Went with "Raven" which wasn't as good as Highlander IMHO. My fav season was season 1 but the folow on series were alot of fun as well. I loved the Paris backdrop, so many series are set in the US that it's nice to see something else. They took advantgae of the great Chateux in France to enhance the look fo the series. There was even a bit of subtext between Amanad and her mentor.

a "little sub-text" between Amanda & her mentor???

a "little sub-text"??? I'd say a lot more than a little subtext... but with all of the testosterone on that show, I think it might have been overshadowed by the other "goings on" ...

But, yeah, it was good... lots of history & costumes & joking around.. and the immortality?? Let's just say the show was fun.... & I like fun. :grin

I like Jim Byrnes. Liked him on Highlander & also on WiseGuy...

And yes, Peter Wingfield/Methos was good... but it was really strange to see him in X-Men 2.... like "what are you doing here??"

Or:

1. Duncan let that whiny brat "Kenny" get away. That idiot.

2. Duncan AND Amanda let that whiny brat Kenny get away; again. Those idiots.

Sorry, just couldn't resist, given how Duncan can often be such a self-righteous dumbass where "Kenny" was concerned.

skittles: yeah there was alot of "subtext". I was hoping that they would bring back Amanda's mentor in Raven but it was not to be.

Too true. Many shows forget the fun these days. The good times help to highlight the bad times. I'll admint that I was sorry to see Tessa go. Still Duncan did mourn her and didn't really move on with another steady partner so I was willing to go with it. I also wanted more Methos/Cassandra.

Highlander is one of my favorite shows (although i didn't like the final season that much). i always liked the interaction between Duncan and Amanda, and i wish they would of done some more on Methos' past

I'm not stealing, I'm just taking things without paying for them. In what twisted dictionary is that stealing?

I loved the Highlander TV series after the first year. Adrian Paul did an amazing job improving his martial arts for the first couple years to the end, that was very cool to watch.

I was also very disappointed with the way Amanda got messed over in Highlander the Raven. I thought she could have been a wonderful lead immortal, but instead of keeping her a theif with a more golden heart due to Duncan's influence, they sort of made her a female Duncan and threw in the lame male love interest to boot. Amanda and Duncan had such interesting chemistry and interaction, it was sad to see her misused so badly.

I loved Methos as well, he had some very cool bits, and I came to like Ritchie more in the end than I would have thought, but then Gabrielle was pretty annoying at the start of Xena too. Ritchie's death was well done and pretty tragic. It was definitely handled a lot better than Tara's.

Oh, and I think Claudia Christian and the guy she was with would have made a great spinoff pair instead of the direction they went.

According to the IMDB Claudia Christian:
Quote:
Plays piano and guitar. She also writes music and is a singer. She has released four albums, "Taboo", "Claudia Squared", "Once Upon a Time" and "Area 51".
"The Claudias" was the title of her second CD. The title comes from Claudia Christian working with Claudia Cummings, formerly of Jimmy Buffett's Band. Claudia Christian's Music

Well it's just like me to get interested in something that's already over, but I've been watching the show for a few weeks now and I have to say I love it.

They play two episodes a day on Spike TV, so I tape those and watch them later.

I started watching in the middle of season 3, so I was a little lost. But I'm starting to get the hang of it now ;)

I really like Highlander. Adrian Paul is one of my favourite actors, and he was just perfect as Duncan Macleod.

One thing I especially liked about the series is that it did really well for years with stand-alone stories and little in the way of ongoing plot arcs. ME could have really learned a thing or two. A series does not need a central villain or a central storyline to do well.

After reading Lisa Countryman's excellant fic Unexpected Consequences (which features Tara learning sword-fighting), I thought that Amber Benson would be really good as an Immortal. What kind of sword could she have? I'm thinking of either a katana, or a Celtic shortsword.

I loved Highlander. Years ago Sky showed an episode of it late at night every weekday, and they went through the entire series without a break.

New "Highlander" Details

Posted: Friday Jan. 30, 2004 10:05pm (Au-EST)

Author: Garth Franklin

Source: Impact

Despite those mixed "Highlander: Endgame" reviews, it looks like the producers have finally taken notice of what the fans have wanted by returning the immortal franchise to TV (rather than the big screen) late in 2004.

UK magazine Impact just ran an interview with David Abramowitz, the man who was a guiding hand for many of the "Highlander" TV series' best seasons and reveals that he has been asked to write a four-hour mini-series which looks set to start filming in April - with a set of international filming locations and a set of newer characters.

The lead role won't be a 'MacLeod', but rather a 'Mackenzie' (though the appearance of familiar faces isn't *completely* ruled out). It's expected to have major swordwork from the first moment, something missing from the earlier spin-off 'The Raven'. The mini-series is provisionally entitled 'Archangel' though that has nothing to do with a previous "Highlander" episode of the same name.

Abramowitz says "Everyone connected thinks 'I am the Highlander' but it's a perfect vehicle for me to write. I like writing action adventure, I like sword and sorcery and it gives me a vehicle to do various kinds of talmudic discussions in a good story-telling way and there's nothing else on television that I could do it with. I have a thirty-four page outline. The grand theme of the piece is... it's a question we've done before, but done differently here... is redemption truly possible?".

The issue of Impact with the interview hit newsstands in the UK this week.

Thanks to 'Tequila Mockingbird'.

I watched the episodes on Spike today and I saw Aly's hubby on the show. Alexis was in an episode called Diplomatic Immunity. I did a check and ASH was also on Highlander, in an episode called Nowhere to Run.

I saw that ep a while back. Poor Alexis always seems to play the same kin of dweeby character role. He played a similar role in the Sharpe series.
