Amber on cover of Curve magazine

Amber says -

She's moved on in more ways than one. Determined to keep her creative options open in an industry that discards most actresses by the time they're 30, Benson - a professional actor since age 15 - has jumped behind the camera, gaining experience as a writer and director. "It blows my mind that there are so few women writers, directors, and producers," she says. "I think we're insane not to help each other and make ourselves known in the entertainment industry. We're the majority of the population, and yet we don't get the time on television or in films. It's annoying that we don't grab it like it belong to us, because it does. We have every right to tell our stories. I knew I had to get in there if I wanted to [be a filmmaker]. I had to get in there and do it myself."

thanks for the article - will go and buy my first copy since the Gillian Anderson cover

I get the magazine at my local Borders bookstore but the small independant newsagents along the road has it too - big student population here tho ;)

I have't been to see if its at Borders yet but if you have difficulty getting one I can try and pick one up for you. Just send me a PM.

Can't wait to see this issue. Thanks for the heads-up, and for doing the transcript, much appreciated.

I bought 4 copies today from my local Borders. I haven't had time to go over it with a fine tooth comb, but holy cow!!! I wish Amber could have sis Danielle as her "official" photographer. Those are beautiful photos!! :drool :thud

There's also a small photo of Dani towards the beginning of the of the mag near the table of contents. I don't think I've seen a photo of baby sis before. She's a cutie!

Maybe more comments from me when I get my head out of the clouds from all this Amber goodness.

Many thanks again to MJ for bringing this to our attention before all the Curve magazines sold out. :grin

I have to admit that this is probably the best Amber Benson interview I’ve ever read. I think it’s extremely well-written and the author isn’t afraid to ask pertinent questions while still being able to keep the tone cordial. I think she did an outstanding job and should be commended. :clap And it’s always nice to have some new pictures of Amber to go along with the article too.

First, yes, kudos to the author! It's a great interview.

Got a copy today. I was pretty much floored right there in the bookstore. These are some of the most beautiful, thud-worthy pictures I've ever seen of Amber.

Lord have mercy.

Looooook at this woman!

You are so lucky Holley, they haven't hit LA yet, but I will buy my copy to show curve the type of woman who will sell their magazines. And this is the same curve that said, Amber wouldn't do their magazine, liars!

All I will say is praise be to the author who made it happen.

Those pictures are divine, glorious, I love the cover and the third one there, sigh, Amber :heart

Thank you Holley. :) I can't wait to get my hands on a copy. Those pics are gorgeous, different from everything we have seen so far and we have seen so much already, so that is saying something. It's just perfect, wonderful unique pictures and a great, well written article.

ohhhhhh maudmac thanks for doing the picture scanning thing.

Is it just me or does Amber get cuter and sexier everyday????

Anyway thanks guys for sharing this, especially because I've never seen or heard of this magazine before so chances are it won't be available in Aussie land.

Off to look at those pics one more time . . . . or maybe two or three more times

The cover photo of Amber is just heavenly. The way her hair winds around her neck and down onto her shoulder like a spiral staircase of dark lustrous tresses. My heart is pounding like Buddy Rich on the drums.:happycry :love :thud :flower

Hi hells bells, thanks for that little piece of info. I'm in Brisbane too and I know where that shop is so if I'm over that way (unlikely at this stage) I might drop in and see if they have it.

Although it will probably cost an arm and a let to buy it (buying overseas mags always does) but hey it's Amber after all.

Thanks for posting the interview, I probably wouldn't have seen it otherwise. This is the first time that I get the sense of Amber looking back on her time on Buffy with a bit of detachment. The interviewer did a marvelous job and a lot of things we had suspected about Amber's attitude came through clearly. She certainly deserves all the support and loyalty that has been given her here. I hope her career continues to grow and be successful.

Great scans! I haven't been able to find the mag yet. My roommate saw it somewhere in downtown Atlanta, but it aparently has yet to decend on the 'burbs.

I have a question for anyone who's read the mag. Who are the "Women to watch in film" that the cover so loudly touts?

Hello Kittens-

Well, I bought a copy of Curve, and then posted off an e-mail thanking them for the interview. It's much nicer to be in the letters column ghetto with a happy response after all those angry ones.

Must admit the crew at Borders (my other newsstand was sold out :) ) paused for a second. It's heck not fitting into demographics.

Heyya Jixer,

Got the Curve ... Amber was (as usual), as classy and lovely as ever.

Man, I'm really sorry about the Borders crew in your area.

I work for Borders, two of my fellow crewmates had already put it on hold for me.... (think they know? :glasses )

and I live in Va.

I'm really really shamed of crew in your area .... :cry

I do know that we ranked as one of Advocate top corporations to work for if you are GBLT.

Again really really sorry Jixer.

Hello Kittens-

WintersDreamer there was no bad scene. They weren't rude or anything even close. The polite girl just blinked at Curve and Military Heritage being bought by same guy (or maybe it was the cover pic of Amber-her sister does a good darn good job:) very blinkworthy). She did point out the chocolates were on sale when I glanced at them in a moment of weakness. And no, I was strong. Now passing up chocies-that was worth a :sob

Managed to get the last copy of Curve magazine in the downtown Minneapolis Barnes & Noble. Our local chain, Shinders, has a much larger magazine selection in its downtown location, but they were sold out. So, it appears that this issue is very popular! Can't imagine why... And Amber filming in Ireland - triple-sigh!!! I hope my Irish cousins will go and see the filmsite for me!

Jixer, sir, you have amazing control. There isn't a chocolate, baked good or Choc-Xtreme Blizzard that I have ever passed up. Ahh, well.

I found it at Barnes and Noble today. When I opened it up to that gorgeous photo of her in the brown jacket, I got this big goofy grin on my face. This guy walked by and couldn't help but look at the magazine I was holding because of my smile. Yep, you should buy a copy, buddy. hehe

Thanks so much for the nice big scans. I swear, Amber gets more beautiful every day. :heart

Well the local Chicagoland Borders has a bunch of them.

I guess unless it says "Cubs" on it, it is gonna get overlooked! ;)

Might pick up a copy tomorrow or two.

Because it's a gay magazine? It's not bad. I used to be afraid of doing that myself. So don't punish yourself for that. I'd offer to get it for you but god knows when i'll get it.
