DO NOT POST - Backup in Progress

Buffy Location Shoots - 3/21 & 3/22

Postby BBOvenGuy » Wed Mar 20, 2002 6:02 pm

My eidc contact has given me two Buffy location shoots for this week.

The first one is back in Griffith Park, Thursday March 21st from 5:00pm to 6:00am. Again it doesn't say where in Griffith Park they'll be. If they're back up on the mountain road where they were last week, I might be able to sneak up a bridle trail that connects to the road up near the top.

I'd have to be out of there by sunset, but at least I could catch a glimpse of where they were setting up, and maybe even who was there. If they're in a more visible location it would be even better.

The second one is on Woodley Avenue between Victory Boulevard and Burbank Boulevard, on Friday March 22 from 7:00pm to 6:00am. This is in Van Nuys, on a stretch of road that runs through the Sepulveda Dam Recreational Area. Here's a pic:

I have no idea what they're going to do with such a wide open area.

Let's hope we get some good information out of these shoots. We could use it.

Thanks BBOvenGuy. The effort you put into hunting down spoilers is greatly appreciated.

Good luck with the sneaking. Have you ever considered the secret service? Cause all this would probably look good on your resume.

Those areas are so pretty...

I have a question for BBOvenGuy (thanks again for all your efforts, they're greatly appreciated) or anyone who might know.

Is the duration of the shoot meaningful in terms of duration on screen? Can we come to the conclusion that the location at Griffith Park will be a longer scene or is there a lot of time in there involved for preparing the set and such, since I'm guessing a mountain takes a tad more time to set up than say... a basement.

Thanks in advance...

Tara: No, see, 'cause your insect reflection represents your insignificance... in terms of the karmic cycle.

Sometimes a scene takes a real long time to set up they have to reserve the site for the set up and the take down as well. I went to an XF shoot in Griffith Park one time and they spent like 4 hours spray painting vegetation, setting up wrecked cars, etc. - so the times that they reserve are usually the upper estimate of how long they think they might need for the whole process of transforming the site and then putting it back the way it was.

It can be, but not necessarily. It depends on how much preparation time is needed, how complicated it is to reset the equipment from one scene to the next, and so forth.

An example - in one very long day, they shot all the external shots for Tara's love song during the day, and then at night they shot the "Walk Through The Fire" scenes where the fire trucks go by in the background and the individual shots of them walking along in front of some bushes while singing ("She came from the grave much graver," etc.). Those two shoots took roughly the same amount of time to do, even though there was a lot more footage shot for "Under Your Spell."

So... I guess I'm saying you can guess there'll be more footage shot at Griffith Park, but you might not necessarily be right.

Um...can they get the paint off the vegetation? Cause wouldn't it like kill it? I guess I'm thinking too much.

Well, it was winter and what they were doing was spray painting all the leaves that were dead on the ground green so it looked like green groundcover. They also brought in a ton of their own fake shrubberies, and road signs, etc., etc. - it's quite the process.

And like Bob said definitely 21 unless it is second unit stuff because 21 should have started shooting Mondayish.

To Bob and any other Kitties going to the shoot....

Good luck, in this stressful hour the need for spoilers, good or bad , is a must. To this I salute you, and offer this advice

1)Bribes paid to PAs can be expensed by the board, save the receipt.

2)In conversation with crew, drop a question about amber/tara in every few words ..example
PA:get off the set!!!
BB:What this set with Amber Benson on it, or is she on another shoot?

3)Lying is OK, if you dont get caught in one hard to back up forexample:
BB:i am so!
PA:no, You are not the Muffin Man!

4) Ask questions single mindedly! Sometimes even studio security knows the answers!

5)Stalking is a word that has such a bad connotation, I perfer freelance guardian angel.

6)there is no number 6

7)If arrested, see if you can get your case transfered to whatever jurisdiction rocketdyke handles. I have it on good authroity you'll get no more than 6 months tops!

8) Dressing as a tree does so work!

9)Have fun!

Ok, losing my mind, need spoilers..
Good luck all!

------------------
Willow was actually there, in Tara's room, and Tara was so very happy. Her face was warm and she was too shy to tell the pretty redhead that she prayed to the goddess for her dear new friend to come to her. And magickally, wonderfully here she was.

Now, as Tara made a symbol on the floor with salt and black sand, Willow placed a single red rose in the center of the symbol. She looked shy and eager...rather the way Tara felt at this moment. "I am glad you wanted to get together." Willow said warmly. "I know it's late." I...Thanks," Tara managed without stammering. "I was happy you called." Actually, I was ecstatic. I hurried to place an apple for the goddess in the woods by the bike path.

BBovenGuy - I hope you don't mind. I'm going to repost your info. on our thread at fanforum. We have some posters in the LA area and I'm hoping that they might be willing to go out and try and get spoilers for us.

I don't want to step on any toes, but I figure the more people out there, the more likely it will be that we'll get spoilers. That way, if some people get tired of waiting and go home, there is a chance someone else will be willing to stay longer.

But, if you do mind the reposting, just tell me and I'll edit it out.

Thanks for trying to get the scoop for us and sharing your info. so generously.

Um... actually, I do mind. I don't want to spook my contact by letting this spread too far. As you can see from my pictures, I've known about these shoots for several days now. I've deliberately not posted them because I didn't want the word to spread.

I've already had words with Tensai on this very same subject. If it keeps happening I just won't mention shoots any more until after they're done.

Please go edit the info out ASAP.

BBovenguy - Sorry about that. I edited out the info. I fully expected the info. to be reposted on spoilerslayer tonight, so I didn't think it was a secret. I gave you credit of course, and I would never have posted the info. if you had indicated you did not want it reposted. It was a sincere mistake, and I hope you accept my apologies.

But, I really wanted to encourage the LA posters to try and get the scoop for us. Being able to stay for the whole shoot, seems to be an issue for quite a few fans.

One of our posters said her friend in Pasadena went to a shoot there yesterday, but she had to leave before any of the action got going. So, the opportunity for some spoilers there was missed.

Postby ms.curious » Thu Mar 21, 2002 5:56 pm

Actually, from my spoiler experiences, most people either can't or won't spend the time to stand around waiting for something to happen. This is especially true for night shoots.

I use to be a Roswell fan and we'd get eye witness accounts of shoots all the time. But, they would be from people who spent HOURS and HOURS waiting for them to start filming a scene that would maybe last a few minutes. Only a patient few would do it.

Think about it. No assurance of what you're going to see, if anything. No place to sit. No food. No drink. No bathroom. And if you have work in the morning, no sleep. That alone would weed out a lot of people.

So, when someone is willing to do it, it is quite exceptional. Of course, eyewitness reports are the ABSOLUTE BEST sources for spoilers so the people that get them deserve a lot of gratitude.
