Yep - know what you mean. First rehearsal of the play I'm in, the director says "can you all put a note in your diaries -" and everyone hoiks out all these filofaxes/professional-looking diaries, and there I am, with my Buffy one, grinning not a little sheepishly. Still, it's a good way to see whether you're compatible - Mark, the drummer in 99 Steps to Street, just looked and said "cool diary": You can always tell a good mellon from a bad one, can't you? Well, feelin' a bit happier today. Although, I might be in need of some cheering up later ... I have a friend over to talk about something bad that's happened in her life, and I think it's gonna be a rough ride - poor thing's been through the mill, as the saying goes. Still, that's what friends are for, aren't they? To pass around vast quantities of hot, sugared tea, and make all the right noises in all the right places, etc.
As for our girls, hmmm, well, I think Tara's guilty pleasure is listening to heavy music - her favourite is probably something like The Birthday Party (Nick Cave's first band - if you know only The Bad Seeds' stuff, you have to check out his first band - they'll blow you away), which she puts on at loud volumes when Willow's out, and cavorts around, letting her hair down - I think Tara probably likes a bit of darkness in her music.
Willow, on the other hand, has another kind of guilty pleasure: Rollerblading. She has a pair of boots stashed away, and every now and again, sticks on the old hot pants (which Tara thinks are just for *cough* nighttime wear), and out she goes, CD Walkman and all.
*Sits back and imagines Willow in hot pants and sports bra, gliding effortlessly down a beach boulevarde, headphones on, butt first, sea breeze in hair ... Mmmmmmm; Willowbutt.*
Well, have a spiffing day, m'dears ...
Oh, God: Hotpants. Willow. Imagine, wandering innocently out one day, only to glance around, to see a hotpants-clad Willow bearing down on you, legs a-pumping. You'd just be caught like a bunny in the headlights, wouldn't you?
I know I would
