DO NOT POST - Backup in Progress

It's been a long time Thursday MKF 3-14-02

Postby xita » Wed Mar 13, 2002 11:16 pm

It's been so long since I posted the daily thread. I am posting in case people don't because they see last week's Thursday thread on the main page.

Anyway, I had an old friend of mine contact me today, found me through my website but it had been a couple of years since she'd talked to me. I always have the hardest time explaining to people that I am like immersed in Buffy, that I run a board and I obsess about the show. It's hard to tell her oh, the movie website, oh I ignore that now cause BtVS is my online life.

Anyway, it's a bit embarrassing to explain, I am sure some of you understand.

For the w/t question, what might be some things that might bring w/t some embarrassment to explain, a bit beyond guilty pleasure.

Yep - know what you mean. First rehearsal of the play I'm in, the director says "can you all put a note in your diaries -" and everyone hoiks out all these filofaxes/professional-looking diaries, and there I am, with my Buffy one, grinning not a little sheepishly. Still, it's a good way to see whether you're compatible - Mark, the drummer in 99 Steps to Street, just looked and said "cool diary": You can always tell a good mellon from a bad one, can't you?

Well, feelin' a bit happier today. Although, I might be in need of some cheering up later ... I have a friend over to talk about something bad that's happened in her life, and I think it's gonna be a rough ride - poor thing's been through the mill, as the saying goes. Still, that's what friends are for, aren't they? To pass around vast quantities of hot, sugared tea, and make all the right noises in all the right places, etc.

As for our girls, hmmm, well, I think Tara's guilty pleasure is listening to heavy music - her favourite is probably something like The Birthday Party (Nick Cave's first band - if you know only The Bad Seeds' stuff, you have to check out his first band - they'll blow you away), which she puts on at loud volumes when Willow's out, and cavorts around, letting her hair down - I think Tara probably likes a bit of darkness in her music.

Willow, on the other hand, has another kind of guilty pleasure: Rollerblading. She has a pair of boots stashed away, and every now and again, sticks on the old hot pants (which Tara thinks are just for *cough* nighttime wear), and out she goes, CD Walkman and all.

*Sits back and imagines Willow in hot pants and sports bra, gliding effortlessly down a beach boulevarde, headphones on, butt first, sea breeze in hair ... Mmmmmmm; Willowbutt.*

Well, have a spiffing day, m'dears ...

Oh, God: Hotpants. Willow. Imagine, wandering innocently out one day, only to glance around, to see a hotpants-clad Willow bearing down on you, legs a-pumping. You'd just be caught like a bunny in the headlights, wouldn't you?

I know I would

I can just imagine Tara coming upon this, and teasing Will about it to no end.

While, of course, being absolutely delirious over the hot pants and sports bra. She might ask for a private show later...quote:

I know exactly what you mean Xita.
I hope everyone's having a great Thursday even though I'm not. My computer went down and I lost everything. I've been spending the better part of the morning being pissed and redownloading. All of my pics, music, and fics are gone, and I'm having a horrible day.

In response to the question of the day I would have to say that Willow having simple computer problems would be kind of embarassing to explain, and Tara goofing a spell because she's thinking of Willow.

Have a great Thursday Kitties.

Hehe, I totally do that. There's nothing like some really really loud music when you're in the right mood.

Speaking of moods, I'm in a marvelous mood right now. I'm not even sure why. Possibly because Thursdays mark the start of my weekend. Possibly because I'm doing pizza and a movie with a new friend tomorrow night (and here's to hoping that new friends can develop into something a little more *ahem* intimate). Perhaps cuz today was white day in korea (like valentine's day) and I got handfuls of candy from all my students. I don't know, but I'm in a good mood. So I'm spreading the love to my fellow kittens. Here are some HUGS (pretty friendly hugs) and smoochies for everyone.

edited to add: I must say. I love the kitten board (more of my crazy good mood coming through). We're such a cool group of people of all ages, sexes, nationalities. It's such an awesome place and I'm really glad to be a part of it.

i have no idea what youre talking about xita. of course, here i sit with black and blue marks on both arms, trying to explain to my very professional co-workers and supervisors that no, i am not being beaten by a scary boyfriend, and yes, i actually do enjoy the physical punishment i take every week in my kung fu class. compared to that... being obsessed with a tv show hardly seems troubling to people.

but you, now youre just weird anyway, so i can see why people would find you strange.

*flings a panty at xita's buffy obsession*

im sure buffy obsession is a sign of intelligence. so no worries.

plus, part of it is just the little horny frat boy in you oogling girls. and thats always a good part of one's character to develop, i think.

xoxoxoxox.
good days all around.

Darn it... I love Michelle Branch. But we don't get a lot of stuff here in Malaysia. No BtVS! No Michelle Branch! All we get are lotsa boybands and anti boybands whose music get replayed over and over till it's stale on the airwaves.
Sigh... Would anyone be uploading clips of that interview online?

MoKa - thanks for the MB info. I love her CD. I also, loved her singing at the end of "Tabula Rasa" even if it was emotionally gut-wrenching to watch the scene

Guilty pleasure - my idea is lame:
Watching Bewitched reruns on TVland ??

Happy Thursday!

adding - just wanted to thank the Mods and all Kittens who brighten my day. This is a fantastic community.

I totally know what you mean. At my support group last week, we got started talking about tv shows. They went around the circle asking people what their favorite shows were and the most common answers were Law and Order and The Practice (maybe they're all like potential lawyers or something, I don't know). They get to me and I'm like Buffy the Vampire Slayer...I got some strange looks!

oh, by the way La, I love your smiley faces
I think Willow's guilty pleasure would be reading smutty fanfic. I can just see her pretending to work on some big computer program, and in reality be reading all the smutty fanfic she can get I think Tara's would be chocolate. She seems like she would be more of a health food gal, but I can see her making sure nobody's home and sneaking chocolate out of a hiding place.

Have a good day kitties!

Hmm. I think that they share a secret love of disco music. When Buffy goes out, the lights go out, the glittery ball comes down and the Bee Gees start playing. ah ah ah ah, stayin' alive, stayin' alive...

What a wonderful birthday it is. I get to nap at work, and write funny quotes on the white board. Woo.

I think that Willow is deeply, terribly ashamed of the fact (-though she has many logical (and valid!) reasons, and since she is in college still, it isn't a big thing, and she doesn't really have to deal with it for a while, and it is really all a manifestation of her parental neglect and abandonment- (Evil Sheila! Ignoring that most basic of duties!)) that she can not drive at all. She's worse than Buffy, worse than Anya. And to live in SoCal, and not be a driver.... It's like she's a second class citizen. (When she hit 18, she took the test on her own, with no parental consent needed. Oh dear. She hasn't been back since. I don't know if she is allowed.)

Tara is embarassed that she still has to wear a retainer at night. Because she stutters when she is embarassed, after 9 pm, every one gives up on having any idea of what she is talking about.
T:W-w-w-wanna shave sh-sh-ks-sks, Willow?
W:uh huh. You're my always, too.
T:n-no. I mean, L-l-etksh shkshrew like b-bunieshhk.
W:Yup, I did do my homework. How 'bout you?
T:tell m-me I'm a shksxy leksh-b-bian.

Hmm, pleasures you find hard to explain. I think Tara is obsessed with bubble wrap. Y'know the stuff electrical goods generally come wrapped in when you buy them. Good for popping. Gives her something to play with when she doesn't have Willowhand to fiddle with.

As for Willow I think she has her record collection ordered by date of release and finds it hard to explain why she freaks when anyone puts a record back in the wrong place.

Okay those were lame but pointed comments to someone who I know lurks here. Hi Steve.

Here's my Michelle Branch story:
A while ago on the Cross & Stake people were talking about that awesome song from the end of Tabula Rasa(which, BTW, aired on my birthday. Nice present). I D'led it and loved it instantly. Then more recently I was looking for that Dido song from Roswell(Here With Me) and stumbled upon the Michelle Branch song Here With Me, and again loved it instantly. Then I went on a huge Michelle Branch kick and downloaded probably all of The Spirit Room. So ya, in about 12 hours I became a huge MB fan.

Willow: Say, you all didn't happen to do a bunch of drugs, did ya?

Tara: Horsies!
Willow: Don't hit the horsies!
Buffy: We won't! (to giles) Aim for the horsies.
