Learning To Deal

Postby musicmad10 » Mon Jan 29, 2007 4:06 pm

Hello Everyone. :bigwave I have decided to start a new story. I haven't written a story for over 2 years so be gentle! :blush

Title: Learning To Deal
Author: musicmad10
Disclaimers: All Buffy characters do not belong to me. But anyother characters I decide to bring in are mine.
Rating: PG-13 - R
Couples: X/A Eventually W/T (hopefully)
Summary: You will find out! However there is a fare amount of angst, so be warned. Some of the events are loosely based around things that have happened to me.

Okay so on with the story! I Hope you enjoy;

Learning To Deal

Chapter 1 – Make an Entrance

There was a quiet tapping; Willow could hear shuffling the other side door.

Looking briefly at her clock she realises how late it is.
Who knocks this time a night?

Slowly she gets out of bed and heads towards the door. Realising she’s going to be embarrassed standing in her Yummy Sushi Pj’s, she quickly grabs her dressing gown and begins to open the door.

“You do know it’s 12 at night right and…” Willow looks up and straight into the eyes of her friend. “Tara hi. Um sorry I just…”

“Willow I need to talk to you,” Tara says quickly before Willow can finish her explanation.
The way Tara is ducking her head Willow can tell it’s something bad. Assuming crash positions Willow puts her arm around her good friend and lets her enter the dorm room.

Tara looks around the room that Willow shares with her best friend Buffy. She’d only been here a few times before as Willow would usually come round to her dorm room, she would say it was quieter and they’d have no Buffy interruptions. The pair had been friends for about 4 months now and yet Willow had never introduced her to her friends. Sure Tara was a little upset but she just hoped that Willow wasn’t ashamed of her and one day soon she would meet them. She had heard many stories about them all especially how Xander had an oddly strange girlfriend called Anya. She was sure that she had heard Willow call her a demon while she was talking to herself but just assumed she meant hypothetically.

Tara was thrilled to have Willow as friend. She’d never really had a proper friend before she’d had a few almost friends but they just felt sorry for her because they’d found out how horrible her family was. But Willow was different. Tara hadn’t mentioned her family; she had avoided all talk about them some how. She knew she wouldn’t be able to get away with it much longer but she tried anyway. Secrets are never good, and Willow had a secret she just knew it. There was something. Freudian Slips for one; Tara just wasn’t sure what they were about. Sometimes she could swear Willow once said ‘he was a vampire’ and changed her mind to ‘nasty man’! But that would be silly, vampires?! Yeah right she always thought to herself, as if they’re real!

At least Willow was straight about her sexuality. Well straight wouldn’t be the right word exactly; she was gay. She had told Tara only two weeks into the friendship. Of course Tara didn’t mind at all. She reassured her saying that just because she herself was straight didn’t mean she wouldn’t want to be her friend. Tara could tell how relieved Willow was and that made her so happy that Willow had had the courage to tell her something so private. She had also mentioned that she was out to all her friends just not out to her parents or anyone outside her friends circle.

A few weeks into the friendship however Tara had realised something so unusual for herself that it scared… no terrified her. She liked Willow and in more than just a friends way. At first she just tried to push the thoughts away to the back of her brain and try to label them as just being desperate because she had never been out with anyone.
But as time passed it became so hard to push them away. Every time Willow came close she would get butterflies in her stomach. Just looking at Willow from afar made her smile and her heart and stomach flutter even more, she couldn’t deny the fact that she was falling in love with the most beautiful girl ever, as she’d think. She had to do something about it or it would eat away at her.
Willow had never given off any signs that she might like Tara back, but Tara had to believe it was the only way she would be able to get through this fateful night.

So I hope you liked :paranoid I will tr to update sometime during the week.

Hey, that's a really great start. Nice twist with Willow being the one to come out to Tara--don't really see that a lot.

It seems like you've got the start of a pretty interesting story here. Cant wait for the update. :sigh

HI everyone, here is my next update.
All disclamers still belong to this part.
I hope youenjoy it.

Chapter 2 – Surprise!

“Willow I need to talk to you,”
Stepping into Willow’s room was the first step into something a lot more complicated, however Tara knew she had to do this. She had to be strong.
If Willow hates you after this she can’t be a real friend. With that thought she looks back over at Willow who is guiding Tara over to her bed.

I’m glad Buffy’s not here right now otherwise this would be even more awkward if that’s possible, and I’d have to think up an excuse to get Willow alone.

“Tara are you okay? You look kinda upset,”
Tara nods her head to say she’s okay as Willow sits down on her bed.
“Good, it’s good that you’re good. You can come and sit…if you want,”
Tara only then realises that she still stood in the same position she was a minute ago and quickly sits down next to Willow.

“So I’m surprised to see you. I mean it’s a good surprise but can I ask in a really nice way what you’re here for?” smiles Willow shyly.
“Oh um…well I need to talk to you,”
“Sure okay. Is it something bad? Have I upset you? If I have I’m very sorry sometimes my foot lives in my mouth and I have a habit of saying things that I don’t mean or whatever and…” Willow babbles.
She stops when she hears a soft giggling coming from Tara.
“What?” Smiles Willow.
“You. Willow babble’s so cute,” Tara grins until she realised what she
actually said and starts blushing.
“You think it’s cute. Well that’s a first, usually people think it’s
annoying. But I can definitely live with cute,”

“I love you!” blurts Tara.
“What?” says a stunned Willow.

Oh my God. I said it. Maybe I said it too soon. Willow looks like she’s going to faint. This can’t be good.

“Oh I said… nothing,” whispers Tara, as she does so she looks down at her lap. She can’t face the look Willow is giving her.
“Yeah you said something. Something very significant!” Willow stands up and begins to pace. “Well maybe you meant it like a friend that’s nice, friends can do that absolutely, why not. I mean that’s perfectly normal and I love Buffy in a friend way and Xander so…”
“No!” Tara stands up and tries to sound assertive. “I don’t love you as a friend.” She looks at Willow who has now stopped pacing and is looking directly at her. “I love you, love you,”
Willow looks a little confused and opens her mouth to speak, but gets cut of by Tara.
“Well I’m not gonna spell it out for you. If you don’t like me anymore I’ll leave!” Tara turns around and heads for the door.

Hahahahaha, Dibs!

Oh my goodness, Tara just blurting it out like that? One of the funniest ways to admit something like that, especially since most people write Tara as the more cool, calm, and collected of the two.

I love what you've done with this story so far, and I'm waiting (slightly) patiently for the next chapter. I'm hoping that Willow clears up the confusion Tara must be feeling at the moment, since we knew she loves her =).

Once again, awesome!

Hi sweetie. Great update. I agree with Tazraven, Tara just blurting out that she love's Willow was very cute... though, I think Tara was right when she thought that maybe it had been a little premature. :hmm especially considering the way that Willow took the news... it's obvious that there hasn't been enough between them yet for that kind of declaration. In my opinion Tara should have taken the out Willow had given her with the "friend" thing and saved "I'm in love with you" for a more appropriate time. :paranoid

And this part really has me worried...

Oh wow... Tara seems to have gotten a little pissed-off there at the end. I hope everything turns out alright for her (in the immediate future, of course). :kgeek

Re: Learning To Deal

Postby musicmad10 » Tue Feb 06, 2007 9:56 am

Hi again. Here is the next update. I've decided through out the next couple of chapters to add flash backs into it to give a little history about the couple. I hope you like it.

Chapter 3 – Pizza Please!

Wow. What did she say? She loves me? Well, um… I wasn’t expecting that, maybe… well anything but that! But she’s straight she can’t like me. I’ve only ever liked straight people they never change. If you’re straight then you’re straight, how can she be different? I don’t understand. I don’t even know why I’m so upset. I’ve liked her since the first time we met.

Flash Back:

Willow was sat next to the tennis court waiting for her turn to go on. She had never done tennis before but she’d decided than when she started college she’d have to take up some sport and well tennis seemed to interest her the most. She was a little nervous about going onto the court because as she was watching the other players she noticed how good they all were.
………

Finally she had finished the 2-hour tennis lesson, she was exhausted.
Well I definitely got my work out today. I feel tired but good, and I don’t think I looked too stupid playing either, yay me. Buffy will be proud maybe one day I’ll be able to take her on in a fitness competition. Well maybe not Buffy but someone else, sure.

Slowly she made her way onto the bus to take her back to the dorms. The journey took about half an hour. As she got off the bus a girl came up from behind her and said ‘hi’. Willow recognised her from tennis, she’d only seen her for a few minutes but that was enough to get her mind going to some slightly naughty thoughts.

Oh tight t-shirt. Don’t look! She’s jumping around too much! Oh God stop looking!

“Hi there. You were in the tennis club right?” says Willow
“Yeah. I’m T-T-Tara by the w-way,” she smiles and ducks her head. Her hair covers up her face and Willow can’t help but want to move the hair away from her face and have a peek.
“I’m Willow. You were very good at the tennis. Have you been playing long?” asks Willow desperately wanting Tara to look up again.
“Um not t-that long. A few m-months is all,” she replies lifting her head and blushing slightly. “I just wondered if you w-wanted to go and have s-some food o-or something? It’s late and I-I’m really h-hungry, I-I don’t really w-want to go b-by myself,”
“Sure, absolutely. I’m starving too. Where do you wanna go?”
“Maybe Pizza Hut. I-It’s close?”
“Sure,”

Slowly they made their way across the road in silence. That night had been great. They chatted all the way through the meal, enjoying each other’s company immensely. Both of them agreed to meet soon to continue their conversation.

Back to present:

“Sorry Tara stop!” says Willow as she grabs hold of Tara’s arm to stop her leaving. “I’m sorry I didn’t mean to freak…I just…well wasn’t expecting that. That’s all,” as she continues she begins to smile.

“So you don’t hate me?” tears beginning to form in Tara’s eyes.
“Absolutely NOT! Just surprised, promise. Come on lets sit back down and talk,”

The pair makes their way back onto Willow’s bed feeling slightly more relaxed.

My secrets out. I’m glad she said she still likes me. I can deal with that even if she doesn’t fancy me

“Um Tara? I have to know…why’d you tell me?” asks Willow cautiously.
“Well I just had to, you know? I needed you to know how I felt,” replies Tara almost in a whisper, but at that moment in time Willow was so focused on Tara that she would have heard anything that came from her.

“Okay, I guess you also wanna know if I like you back right?” sighs Willow is an almost negative way.
“W-well if you wanna tell me. I-I mean it’s okay if you d-don’t. I didn’t tell for that reason r-really,”
“Okay here’s the thing. I like you, I really do but I don’t think we should date!”

TBC...

Sorry for the cliffhanger, but I think it makes the story more interesting. :sigh

Hi, as requested i've done another update. I'm sorry about the amount of angst. I don't normally write it a lot so I think it's just decided to rise it's ugly head in this fic. :paranoid
All disclammers still apply to this chapter.
So here it is, enjoy!

Chapter 4 – SEX! And Other Naughty Things!

Flash Back:

Willow and Tara are sitting on Tara’s bed pigging out on chocolate and soda. They picked out a film earlier on that evening and Willow is beginning to think that she didn’t pick the best movie to watch under the circumstances. ’40 Days and 40 Nights’

Why did I pick a movie about SEX! Frilly heck I’m sat next to the girl I fancy and watching a film about sex! My life is cruel and so, so unfair! Well at least she seems to be enjoying herself.

“Will isn’t this totally a boys film? I mean seriously all they’re talking about is masturbation and sex!”

That’s all I’m thinking about! Thinks Willow as she begins to grin and realises what she’s doing and shakes her head a little and wipes the grin off her face.
“Will what’s up?”
“Nothing. It’s totally a boy’s movie. But that’s okay I can still watch it you know,”
“Yeah me too,” replies Tara as they both settled back to comfortable position on the bed.

About 10 minutes later a though just keeps bugging Willow and she can’t keep it to herself anymore.
“What’s it like to have sex with a man?” she blurts out.
Looking over at Tara she can tell that she’s dead embarrassed and feels instantly embarrassed herself.
“Um… well I don’t really know. I’ve never got that far…with a guy,” she says almost to herself.
Willow just about heard it and replies.
“That’s cool. What’s it like to kiss a guy?” she smiles genuinely.
“I don’t know either. I’ve never got that far either. Well I’ve pretty much never been out with anyone. So what’s it like to be with a girl, in any way?”
“Can’t answer I wouldn’t know either,” she smiles reassuring Tara.
“Oh, okay,” she looks up at Willow and does her half smile that Willow loves so much.
“But I’ll totally tell you what it’s like when I do, if you like?”
“Yeah sure. I’ll tell you too,” agrees Tara.
“Do you ever think about it? Sex I mean?” asks Willow desperately wanting to know more about Tara.
“Sure I mean it’s natural. I’d love to find a handsome, caring young man that sweeps me off my feet you know?”
“Absolutely!”
“So what’s your type for a girlfriend?”
“Well…um…”

YOU! No Willow I can’t say that just dodge the question a little, think Willow, think.

“I don’t have a particular type but I’m not really into the butch lesbians, if you know what I mean?”
“I get it,”

Back to Present:

“Okay, I guess you also wanna know if I like you back right?” sighs Willow is an almost negative way.
“W-well if you wanna tell me. I-I mean it’s okay if you d-don’t. I didn’t tell for that reason r-really,”
“Okay here’s the thing. I like you, I really do but I don’t think we should date!”
“What! You can’t tell me you like me then say we can’t date do you know how horrible that is?” shouts Tara.
“Yeah I know but I don’t think it’ll work. What’s the point of putting us through something so important when it won’t end well?” sighs Willow.
“How the hell do you know it won’t work out? You’ve known I like you for a few minutes and you’ve decided already?” Tara stands up and feels so angry she could burst.
“Look. I’ve played through this scenario in my head. Well maybe not this exactly… but my point is that you’re straight. You can’t be gay it doesn’t work like that!” says Willow also standing and walks over to Tara.
“How would you know you’ve never been straight? It took me so much courage to tell you and throw it back in my face! I thought I could deal with you rejecting me, but as it happens I HADN’T foresaw this argument. I’m going to leave now,”
Willow goes to reach out but gets stopped by Tara.
“No! Don’t try and stop me. You’ve done enough damage for one night and I’m going home now. So bye!” she says and storms out of the door.

Hiya,

Just a quick note to say hopefully they'll be an update on Tuesday.
I know right now you're all thinking Willow's evil, but she's not. This story is lightly based on me and what I'd do if the person I liked told me they liked me, I think it's how I'd react,( well sort of). I would be sceptical too. Hopefully after a few chapters it'll be less angsty. :smug

Thank you for the comments. Here is the next chapter.

Chapter 5- The Day After The Night Before

That night passed slowly for both girls. Tara cried herself into a restless sleep, while Willow couldn’t even sleep as her over active brain wouldn’t stop.

I should apologize. I was mean. It doesn’t mean I’ve changed my opinion though. I just think it’s for the best. I think just friends would work out best. Although now I know she likes me it’ll be harder to just be friends. Why is this so difficult?! It’s not fair!

They both hoped that in the morning it would all seem brighter and they would be able to understand last night better. But as life goes, it made them feel worse.

Tara slowly opened her eyes and smacked her alarm clock to stop it from bleeping. Her eyes were blurry from both tiredness and the previous nights crying. She managed to get dressed and head out. She’d decided to skip breakfast, as her stomach was feeling bad and headed straight for her classroom.

Willow on the other hand had no classes today so she stayed in bed most of the day until 2pm when Buffy arrived.

“Hello! What a beautiful day!” grins Buffy parading into the room and almost slamming the door behind her.
“Ow! Too loud!” groans Willow.
“Oh God! What’s happened? I’m sorry I didn’t know something was wrong!” she says as she rushes over to Willow and gives her a big hug.
“Are you sick? You’re kinda warm?”
“No I’m not sick. I’ve just been in bed along time, that’s all,” replies Willow forcing a smile.
“Good, so you’re okay then?”
“Well I wouldn’t put it that way, but I don’t feel like talking about it right now. I’ll tell you another time,”
“Okay. Just…I love you Will…”

Wow I’ve heard those words too many time recently!

“…And whatever the problem is I’m always here to give you support. Whatever you need,”
“Thanks. I think I’m gonna get some breakfast,” announces Willow stepping out of her bed and makes her way towards the door.
“Um, Will? Are you gonna go in your pyjamas?” giggles Buffy.
“No! Don’t be silly. I knew what I was doing. I’ll just be getting changed now, okay?” she says matter of factly.
The day went slowly for Willow. After her breakfast (which was really lunch) she moped around her room and finally fell asleep at 10pm.

Tara on the other hand was contemplating.
Should I or shouldn’t I? If she wanted to get in contact with me she would have done it already right? Well maybe not. I should ring her. But it’s 10.30pm, it’s kinda late. It might make her more angry with me.

She sighs and decides against ringing Willow, as it’s too late. But is determined to do it tomorrow, as it will be Saturday and neither will have lessons.

Hello, Here is the next chapter. Hope you enjoy.

Chapter 6 – Did She? Didn’t She?

*Ring Ring*

Willow’s phone began ringing. Sleepily she’s looks at her clock and realises it’s 10am.
Wow, I can sleep for ages

Quickly grabbing the phone, she answers.
“Hello, Willow speaking,”
There was silence.
“Hello?” she tries again.
Realising no one’s going to speak she hangs up quickly and begins to get changed.

Damn! I’m too chicken! I couldn’t say anything! Why couldn’t I say anything? Stupid!

Tara cursed herself for being so silly. She was desperate to get hold of Willow. Her dream the previous night, showed her how rash she’d been to scream at Willow.

It’s not fair on Willow. I shouldn’t have shouted like that and even worse I stormed out. That’s not what mature people do. I feel kinda guilty. Not that guilty as Willow was a bit thoughtless but still.

Back in Willow’s room she is becoming increasingly interested who rang her up earlier that morning, so she dials in the number that will give her the last number that called. She begins to write it down and half way through she realises that it was Tara’s.

She rang me? Why didn’t she answer? Maybe she got the wrong number? Or maybe she didn’t really wanna talk to me? I should ring her up. No I’ll go round that way they’ll be no dodging each other. Yes that’s what I’ll do right now.

*Knock knock*

Who could that be? I don’t think anyone was supposed to come over where they? Am I forgetting something?
Tara answers the door with a smile, as soon as she opens the door and sees Willow the smile slowly fades.
However hurt Tara’s feeling were at that moment, she couldn’t help but think how gorgeous Willow’s looking; just standing at her door shyly smiling.
“Hi. Um…I just came by to see how you are. You know?”
“Oh um. I’m okay,” replying Tara standing in front of her door not allowing Willow entry.
“I know you rang me up this morning,” says Willow kindly.
“How do you know that? I mean it can’t have been me,” rushes Tara.
“I rang up the number to see who called. It was your number,” she smiles.
“Oh. Well I got the wrong number. I was trying to call someone else,”
“I thought so,” says Willow bowing her head to look at her feet.

Why am I lying? I should just say I rang her up and that’s that! God this conversation is awkward!

“Um Tara, can we talk?”
“We are talking see? Our mouths are moving and words are coming out,”
Willow can’t help but giggle to herself at the cuteness of Tara.
“We are, but I mean privately,”
“You mean in my room?” asks Tara hesitantly.
“Well yeah. Is that okay? You’re not hiding something in there are you?” grins Willow cheekily.
“No, no! Don’t be silly. Come on in,” smiles Tara beginning to feel a little more comfortable.

Here is the next chapter. Hopefully the end will please everyone, or at least its a start. :party

Chapter 7 – Solution

Once inside Tara’s room the pair becomes quiet once again. They slowly make their way to sit down. Tara takes her computer chair while Willow sits on the bed.

“So what do you wanna talk about?” asks Tara dreading the answer.
“About the other night; what happened,”
“Oh,” Tara shyly ducks her head to allow her hair to cover her face as if hiding from Willow and the conversation.
“I’m sorry. I took it kinda badly. I’m really sorry for that,”
“It’s okay. I don’t mind how you took it, it’s what you said after that annoyed me,” replies Tara lifting her head and looking Willow directly in the eyes.

The pair stays staring at each other for a few moments until Willow can’t take it anymore and breaks eye contact.
In a dramatic gesture she begins to stand up and pace the room.
“I…Um...I,” Willow struggles with what to say, but manages to get her words together eventually.
“I’m sorry for that too. I meant what I said but I should’ve said it differently. I was just sorta shocked that’s all,”
“You meant it? Really? But if you like someone then how can you not want to go out with them?” winces Tara.
Willow walks up to Tara and kneels down in front of her. Putting her hands on Tara’s knees she sighs.
“It’s complicated, and I don’t know if I’ll be able to explain it,”
“Well you can try at least,”
“I can try, but I just don’t want you to get offended,”
“It won’t matter anyway, it’s to late for that already,” replies Tara her face becoming slightly stern.

“Okay, so the thing is I’ve been gay my whole life and I’ve always wanted a girlfriend to love and snuggle with. But I’ve always had thing for straight girls; and well that obviously never works out well at all,”
“But that doesn’t mean you can’t snuggle me?” Tara replies innocently.
“I know I could, but I just worry that because I’m the first girl you’ve liked that once you’ve tried me out for a little bit you might decide that in fact you like boys better and leave me,” says Willow wiping a tear from her eye.
“But I wouldn’t do that,” says Tara stroking her hand along Willow’s hair.
“You don’t know that! I don’t wanna be hurt like that. Not with the uncertainty of it all,”

Willow begins to cry. Tara gets off her chair and pushes it behind her. She kneels down in front of Willow and scoops her up into a hug.
“I didn’t know you felt like that. I’m glad you told me. But you can’t always predict these things. You have to just hope they work out. I’ve never been out with anyone, neither have you. We’re not exactly dating experts are we?”
Willow’s crying slowly begins to stop and just enjoys the feel of Tara’s arms around her body.
“I’m sorry, I’m just a doofus. See why would you even wanna go out with me?” she says backing out of Tara’s arms.
“Because you’re you.” Tara says boldly with no hesitation in her voice. “I like all of you. You’re pretty, funny, intelligent, I even like you’re quirks like Willow babble,” she smiles, happy to finally let Willow know just how much she means to her.
Willow blushes at Tara’s words and the slightly dazed expression on Tara’s face.

“Okay, well how’s about we just go really slow? Don’t do anything until we feel it’s the right time,” suggests Willow.
“What like kiss?”
“Yeah like kissing or...well anything else like that really. Is that okay, I just want you to be sure you want this,”
“But, I know I want you. I want to kiss you all the time,” she smiles.
“I want to kiss you too. But I think slowly is good, okay?” smiles Willow happy with her solution.
“Okay deal, but you promise I’ll get smoochies?” blushes Tara.
“I hope so,” smiles Willow hugging Tara fiercely.

The long wait is finally over a relationship has started. Slow is good, well I reckon.

I've just started reading this story and liked how you have Tara being the one to declare her feelings first to Willow.
I like how you've put flashbacks in to tell the tale of how they first met.
I found this part quiet funny - ;-)

“Will isn’t this totally a boys film? I mean seriously all they’re talking about is masturbation and sex!”

That’s all I’m thinking about! Thinks Willow as she begins to grin and realises what she’s doing and shakes her head a little and wipes the grin off her face.

Look forward to the next update,
cheers

Here is the next update. Glad you're enjoying it.

Chapter 8 – Sweets and Sandwiches

The following week went incredibly slowly for both Willow and Tara they had been so busy with college work that they had no time to see each other. However they were determined that on the Sunday they would a have a day all to themselves. They had decided a picnic would be nice. Thankfully it was warm day and there were hardly any clouds in the sky.

Have I got everything? Sandwiches? Check! Drinks? Check! Sweeties? Check. Fruit? Check!
Willow was desperate to make the picnic a success. All she’d told Tara was to bring herself and let her do the rest. She desperately searched her dorm room for a blanket until she realised that she in fact didn’t have one and the only person that did was Buffy; who at this moment was stiffening a giggle watching her friend. Willow hadn’t explained anything to Buffy at all. She was pretty sure she hadn’t even mentioned Tara to her. She felt bad about this and decided that would change.

“Hey Buffy? Say, you don’t happen to have a blanket by any chance that I could borrow do ya?” she grins innocently.
“Sure I do. But seeing as my bestest buddy can’t seem to tell me what it’s for I’m thinking you can’t borrow it,” Buffy replies teasingly.
“Okay all ready. I’m going for a picnic,”
“By yourself? That’s a bit boring don’t you think?” she grins.
“No, no. I’m not going by myself silly. I’m going with a friend,”

Liar! I just can’t face telling her yet. I mean I don’t even know what’s gonna happen between Tara and me so there’s no point in telling her yet.

“So who’s this friend of yours?”
“Tara. That’s her name,” she replies matter of factly.
“So this Tara. Is she a date or well a maybe date? Cause I mean picnic’s aren’t really a friend thing,”
“Yes they are! We’ve picnicked before. You, me and Xander. Anyway we’re just friends,”
“Okay, geezz if you say so. Here you go,” she replies handing Willow over her blanket.

There’s definitely something going on there but I’ll wait until she feels comfortable telling me.

Buffy smiles as she watches Willow make the finishing touches to her picnic basket.
“Well I’m off now, so I’ll see you later,” waves Willow as she heads out the door.

It’s not a date is it? I mean I don’t think it is. It’s just a friendly get together because we haven’t seen each other, right? But what if she thinks it’s a date? Would it be so bad if it was?

Willow’s thoughts take her all the way until she gets to the tree that they decided to lunch at.
Of course in true Willow fashion she’s early, so she decides to wait.

I’m really nervous? What does Willow expect? Is this a date? I don’t think so. What if she thought is was? Would it be so bad?

Tara makes her way up to the tree and sits down next to Willow. Realising that Willow’s far away in her thoughts she hasn’t even noticed she’s there.
“Willow?” she smiles.
“Oh! Hi. Sorry you made me jump,” grins Willow a little shocked.
“Sorry. You looked so peaceful. I hope I didn’t interrupt anything,”
“No, absolutely not! I was just miles away, you know me,” she smiles putting her hand on Tara’s knee.
Tara looks down at Willow’s hand and beams.
“So, um I bought food, you know as it’s a picnic and all. I wasn’t sure what you liked so I got loads of different sandwiches. I got tuna, cheese, ham, salad and beef. I wasn’t sure if you were a vegetarian so that’s why I put salad in,”
Tara stares at her bemused as she chatters away. As soon as Willow starts taking food out of the basket she takes her hand off Tara’s knee. Tara feels sad at the loss.

The picnic was a lot of fun, they laughed and joked and teased each other mercilessly but in a nice way of course.
However Tara was a little sad that Willow had not made another move towards her. Before the picnic she’d decided not to make a move at all on Willow, as it was Willow who should set the pace. Well at least for the moment.

“So, um that was really fun. We should do it again sometime,” smiles Willow.
“Absolutely. It was fun,”
“Um Tara. I was wondering. Well my friends and I. We’ve set a date in two weeks to go out to the Bronze and well I wondered if you wanted to come? I know it’s ages away, but I didn’t wanna chicken out asking you, so now I’ve done it and please say yes!”
“Sure. I’d love to meet your friends, just remind me nearer the time. I’m up for it,” grins Tara so happy that Willow will introduce her to her friends.

TBC...

That's it for now folks! Look out for the next update on the weekend hopefully. :party
