I got one eye to the left, one eye to the right and in the middle is a nose.

“Below is a mouth because how else is this noise coming out.

“Some then have a chin, cheeks to the side but I don’t, cos I’m a potato
.”

“And then it sang it again?” Asked Tara.

“It wouldn’t shut up. I was there happily studying and it wouldn’t stop singing the same song,” explained Willow.

“And this is why you don’t want to share fries?”

“It was a traumatic dream.” Willow crunched on chips trying to sound out the dreamt earworm.

“There’s crows out there!” Xander backed away from the window grappling for a cross.

“Xander this isn’t funny.” Willow kept her hand by her mouth as she paced.

“I’m not laughing Will. That dog barked at us earlier.” Xander joined the hysteria conga. “You’ll know when I’m laughing. Big laughs. Some call them screams but me, I’m going out laughing.”

Willow paused as Tara entered the room. “Am I it? Not even Christian but you know guess that’s the point of the anti-Christ.”

A wet cloth wiped away the marking on Willow’s cheek.

“You fell asleep at your desk again.”

“Willow, what did you do?”

Tara looked aghast as hooves splashed around in the pool. Little horns broke through its swim cap. Torn fabric swirled in the water disruption. Its vision obscured by tight goggles.

“I didn’t do anything. I just thought she was acting a bit like a-“ a panicked moo broke through the screams of fleeing swimmers. “Its fine cows can swim. Could’ve been worse she could’ve been acting real snaky.”

“That’s not the point.”

“That’s not the point,” repeated Willow . . . “It’s not like she’s not been different before.”

“Why’s that cow in Anya’s swimsuit?” Asked Xander.

The bell rang out as Buffy burst through the door. “Xander clear the table.”

One look answered his question, immediately he swept the books off the table.

“Customers,” protested Anya.

“Erm yes Anya’s right perhaps take her into the back.” Agreed Giles, placing his glasses back on and picking up a first aid kit. Joining Xander in following Buffy to the back room.

Anya looked at the destruction left in the slayers wake. “Someone’s gotta clean this.”

The bell rang again. A small ring. As though anything stronger would shatter whatever held Tara together.

“Willow, is she?”

“In the back.”

Not now. Being around Willow had always given Tara the feeling of floating on air. Constantly being swept up in her addictive Willowyness. The one place she didn’t need air was in her guts.

Maybe she could hold it, get to the bathroom. She leaned to the left. The bubble of air painstakingly passing her cheeks told her no, holding wasn’t happening. Tara’s heart sunk, her face reddening in embarrassment. Silver lining, she didn’t hear anything.

Willow frowned, picking back up the bag of herbs giving it a sniff. “I think the ingredients might be off.”

Oh god she noticed.

“You know what they asked for?”

Willow walked in step with Buffy. “Gee Buff I guess a burg-“

“Baked Potato!” Buffy’s excitement grew as did her hand movements. “We’ve got the potato. Got the meat and the cheese. Mmm cheese. Sophie was wigging out but I shoved a potato in the microwave, added the toppings and got a ten dollar tip.”

“I thought Willow said it wasn’t meat?”

“It’s a process.”

Tara and Willow slowed to quietly talk to each other. “I prefer her slayer stories.”

“Sophie kinda already told me this one,” added Tara.

“Heard that,” called back Buffy.

Prompt - Nine Ladies Dancing

It started slow. Simple steps

Excellent!

Then came the jumps.

You Got IT!!

They locked eyes, their feet moving to the music. Arrows vanishing in perfect timing.

Hear The Applause!!!

People gathered as the arcade became electric with energy the dancers were giving off.

Dancing Dynamos!!!!

Perfect synergy radiated through them as they spun, bopped and pumped. Lost in orbit of their own world.

High Score!!!!!

The crowd went wild.

Willow shivered at refreshing ice hitting her body. “That could’ve been us.”

Tara kissed Willow’s temple, holding an ice pack on Willow’s knee. “Sweetie, you tripped getting on the platform.”

Soft breaths bristled the hairs on Willow’s neck until the arm around her waist and body pressed against her back reminded her she was safe. But her hairs still stood on end.

Crunch.

“Tar, Tara baby?” Willow’s words half asleep but ten times more awake than the returned moan.

Crunch.

Willow reached to turn on the lamp. Exiting the embrace she felt a breeze. After rubbing her eyes she saw the man in the corner of the room.

“Are you eating corn?”

“Yahuh.” He took another bite.

“Is it buttered?” Willow shot Tara a look. “Just, you know, gathering details.”

Author's Note - Was rewatching Sanctuary, Buffy and Faith jump a building gap and Angel jumps onto a helicopter but what do the non super human Scoobies/Angel Investigations get up to when they cant follow that supernatural action?

Their feet pounded down narrow streets. Jumping over open sewer drains, dodging leftover crates and spilt trashcans as they ran through the back alley of businesses. Metal rattled as a fire ladder was pulled down. One after another they leaped up climbing to the first platform, zigzagging up the stairs only to see Buffy soar over the building gap in pursuit of their target.

“I’m pooped,” panted Willow.

Tara flapped her lapels fanning herself. “So hot.”

“You know what’s cool?”

“Ice cream?”

“Let’s get ice cream. Whole roof thing, out of our remit. Ice cream, we can do ice cream.”

“Fabric softener!” Answered Anya.

Tara gave the magazine another look. “It’s what smell makes you think of your partner.”

Willow pulled Xander closer and then pushed him away. “Definitely not fabric softener. Have you ever washed that shirt?”

“I mean, define you.”

“You do his washing and that makes you think of him?” Asked Tara.

“Yes but no.” Anya lovingly leaned on Xander’s shoulder. “It’s the smell of our consummation.”

“That spin cycle really spun. Sure it wasn’t a concussion?”

“There was banging.”

“Eww lots of eww. Who smells laundry and thinks hey that’s-” Willow met Tara’s look. “Never mind.”

“He doesn’t charge us gas money,” replied Buffy.

“It’s nice to repay the favour.” Tara reached under the passenger seat pulling out a flowery pair of large frilly bloomers covered in sticky carpet hair and melted peanut butter cups.

“Not mine,” protested Anya.

“Hey here’s a wacky idea, why don’t we forget the transformative powers of bicarb and vinegar for friction and matches,” suggested Willow.

Prompt - Heart
Author's Note - This was flagged as self harm, I assume due to Willow's comment. I picture this as happening after Buffy leaves in Superstar, after questioning Tara about the creature. Willow's comment is purely intended to mean, in her Willowyness, that its not Tara's fault then segueing into a bit of flirting.

The door closed with a soft click.

“You did great.” Willow dampened the cloth, rinsing it out to gently wipe Tara brow. “Seeing you like this makes my heart go all bad poundy.”

“I didn’t m-mean to m-make you feel-“

“No. No one would want to hurt themselves like this, unless they’re wrong but you’re right. Everything about you feels right.” Tara smiled but the wince in her eyes didn’t go unnoticed. “And as much as that gives the good heart poundiness, it making you hurty doesn’t.”

“You make it hard not to.” The wince was worth the mutual smile.

“I spy with my little cactus man?” Willow stopped walking.

“Cactus man?”

“That’s a Brachen demon ya looking for to answer that doozy.“ His Irish accent pained as he clenched his head. “To thank me you can hand over some aspirin I hope ya got in dat purse.”

Tara handed over some Aspirin.

“Now my source said I’m looking for a college brain dressed as a toddler, I’d say this headache is now you twos.”

“I don’t dress like a toddler do I?”

“You’re very cute Sweetie,” reassured Tara.

“No offence, she called me a weasel.”

I’m sorry. I’m so so sorry.

Willow watched every breath. The rise and fall of Tara’s chest as she slept curled up on a derelict service station counter. It wouldn’t last long these moments of calm but in these moments, she’d watch, caress and apologise.

“Hey,” whispered Dawn. “How is she?”

“Fine, whatever defines fine anymore.”

Dawn placed her hand on Tara’s arm. Barely touching her as to not wake her but how could she? How could she give and seek comfort from someone she’s caused so much pain, just by existing?

“Think she blames me?”

“No.” It’s my fault.

Ive decided to finally give feedback to one of your drabbles. Sorry that I didn't do that before.

I’m sorry. I’m so so sorry.

“No.” It’s my fault.

:cry No it isn't, Willow! You didn't know that Glory believed Tara to be the key and that she was after her. If you didn't have that fight and went to that fair together Glory could have attacked Tara anyway after tossing you aside like a rag doll.

It's sad but very in character for Willow to blame herself for Glory turning Tara insane.

Rating - PG13 - Killing mentions.
Prompt - Remember
Author's Note - Nothing to do with the drabble just a thought I want to get out.
Spoiler:
For a while I've been in the same state of mind of why. Why do I bother? Do I even like BtVS? Do I even care about Tara anymore? I find myself writing Willow who I've grown in character appreciation but also grown in despise but she's one of the best written characters I've come across, I respect that but not her. Am I doing what I like? Bogged down by Fan politics.

Expanding more of the Buffyverse into my experience with Slayers and Angel and it's really hitting home in the thought of how can I be a fan of something where I only really enjoy the majority of 3 series with outliers of individual episodes and the complete lack of acceptance of seriesdoesntexist existing?

My answer, Tough Love - After Life.

Its repeatedly advised go back to the source material and I was going back to the wrong parts. In the Tough Love fight I had the 'I fucking love this show' feeling. The final scene showing all that connection and the reasons why it worth fighting the impossible (way better than Ats ever does and that's apparently its point). The humour, the dread, the heart and the action of the Winnebago. The quiet moments of the gas station proving Westly is a PoS and Giles adapted to his Slayer, to watch without judgement. Buffy's goodbye speech in The Gift. The slice of life with the Bargaining. Anya and Tara in The Bargaining part2 and throughout it all, there is so much unspoken and spoken that in no way doubts that Tara and Willow love each other.

A lot of shoulder touching but that's censors and I'm cool with that because it works for their personalities while doing more than any big sex scene or angry make out session over a gravestone ever would for their character. The murmurs of mindless Tara, her watering eyes constantly in search. The blankness contrasting with the moments of lashing out. The arm extending in The weight of the world when Willow walks away. The call back to joining hands in The Gift. Their connection makes them strong. Their care is what drives them. Tara making breakfast and telling Willow she's done enough. That first sight of the plight she will go through. The scooby meeting where Tara is an equal, if anything looking like second in command, She has a voice. But her trust is in Willow as Willow's is in Tara. Her support instrumental (its not all Willow's fault, they're all to blame) all shown through simple lines and looks. The brief shot of Tara and Willow asleep in bed, holding each other. The panic of Tara, the concern of Willow. Tara's first kill compared to being owned in the pie plate bingo. The honesty of Willow and Tara in their bedroom scene in After Life. Tara messing with Dawn with the demon horn. But ofcourse there's then the spell seperation and black eyes. Nothing lasts.

I don't care about the 'ship', I care that its a major part of Tara and it isn't fabricated. its real to both sides and in parts I believe it.

There's so many questions of what went on due to the unresolved Tough Love fight (Which was foreshadowed throughout all of series five, didn't come out of nowhere just like Willow's addiction which was foreshadowed from series one) What repercussions were there for Tara's mind being restored, Willow touching a gods essence. Its been three months how is Tara's crushed hand perfectly healed? Why did Tara agree to resurrect Buffy? What does Tara remember of her time being mindless. Did Willow restoring Tara's mind grow Tara's feeling of being frightened of Willow's power but fears saying anything due to what happened after the last time?

Thoughts! I'm having thoughts.

Being the outlier in interpretations is nothing new to me. Ibsen's A Doll's House I wrote essays on and suffered the consequence but Nora is not a child. A book about Feminism and Nora played everyone like a fiddle, she's manipulative, capable and knew what she wanted and did everything to get there. There's no character growth, it's just the audience and characters around her realising she's played them for a fool. It's our view of her that is being questioned not Nora's actions. It's us who should grow from it. Still annoyed about it but my interpretation of it will be staged one day (Cordelia not in the lead, rare funny Ats scene though).

I was told all I can do is hold a grudge, well let's call Tara my grudge (I can't stand blorbo).

I'm stubborn, hold grudges and found a show which I liked for monster of the week antics with a cool hook and it ended with my 'I fucking love this show' feeling occurring because I cared for the characters when the monster of the week dropped off. Any show that can do that in a few series out of many, earns my respect. I am a fan, I do like it and from this author's note you can get the gist I like to fight for points i believe in. I believe in Tara Maclay.

If you're struggling or wondering the whys, go to your source material.

Tara’s grip on Willow’s shoulders tightened. At first she thought it was due to the destruction they were walking through but it wasn’t. She held on tighter out of need and denial. Why was she getting an adrenaline rush from killing something? Did she like it? No.

“Baby you’re shaking.” Willow watched Tara’s colour drain. “Xander!”

Xander caught Tara, keeping her upright. “Oh yeah, the first kill woozies.”

“I didn’t get them,” added Anya, the concern and exhaustion of the night catching up on her.

“You kinda had centuries of experience before then,” sniped Willow. “We need to find Buffy.”

Seriously no need to apologise. I've never explicitly stated for feedback with these due to the nature of the idea of Drabbles but also its 100 words that consist of Willow sneezing on a hamster and Tara farting in front of Willow for the first time. What can be said to that.
I'm always receptive to any response to anything I post, its always welcome even if not explicitly stated. so no boundaries stepped on here by commenting.

Will's redemption wrote:It's sad but very in character for Willow to blame herself for Glory turning Tara insane
I wrote this while watching 'Spiral'. Something that stood out to me this time is that I felt like Willow took responsibility. Often I think Willow passes off and doesn't really acknowledge her negative decisions and how it effects those around her. Then it occurred to me what could be the deeper reason for this that Willow might not grasp herself yet.
What if she blames herself for everything that goes wrong.
Stemming back to re-ensoulling Angel.
She caused Buffy to kill Angel not Angelus. if she acted sooner could that have led to a different conclusion.
Willow talks about her abandonment by Buffy when she needed her over the summer but goes on to be taken in by Faith leading Buffy to feel abandoned. What if that abandonment actually became a self punishment for Willow without knowing. That distance that grows as the show goes on a constant space Willow puts there because she feels she deserves it because when Buffy trusts Willow, Buffy gets hurt.
Buffy called Willow her big gun and then Buffy ends up dead.
So bringing Buffy back is her way of trying to fix a blame she cant live with.
A fight of the what I see and what Willow probably see's, her erasure, her fix its to issues but the issues possibly being what she thinks she causes for others.
She had that fight with Tara touching on trust ("Don't you trust me?" "With my life"), that was then a distance made and Tara got hurt, potentially losing her life or quality of it.
We see Willow try to magic away the problems. What if the brambles lethe was a subconscious punishment for herself.
If Tara and Buffy don't know the cause of the rift between them then that narrows the distance in their eye (erasing/ fixing the issue) but in Willow's it widens the self punishment distance even further because she knows something they cant know.

So full of blame she cant comprehend that it comes across as arrogance. It never looking like she see's her actions and taking the repercussions because she has always seen them and punished herself for them unknowingly. Which is why she lashes out at people reprimanding her as she's already done it to herself.

Its a newish angle of thought that I need to explore. Lot's of liabilities to push to their limits to make it work. How does her addiction play into this, is she distancing herself from the blame she might now see or is it fear because Tara is as far away as possible and when Tara was at a known distance before the damage was catastrophic. Her self perception on show her restless nightmare.

Thankyou for reading and sharing your thoughts. It's always of great meaning to be told I write Willow in character by a Willow fan. I have my quarrels with her but I'd never want to do her an injustice.

Good hearing from you.

Rating - PG13 - Mentions of injury
Prompt - Heart and Brain - Its the physical and metaphorical aspect of the prompt. The physical spoken but the metaphorical is unspoken. Flesh and emotion on opposite paths.

Tara’s eyes lit up at the sight of Willow. All be it a very upset, confused, exhausted and containing unadulterated panic Willow but it was Willow. “How’s Dawn?”

“We managed to snag some gauze, most are shallow, she’ll heal.” Willow held Tara’s head into her chest, placing a lingering kiss on top. She was back. “What’d they say about your hand? I would’ve stayed, wanted to stay but.”

“We couldn’t risk Dawn going in the system. Brainy type thoughts.” Tara held up her freshly bandaged hand. “Nurse said it would be hard to make it any worse. It will heal.”

“Is this how you know? The whole yoga thing.” Anya wobbled in the crane position.

“It’s not yoga.” Tara shifted to the edge of the table. “It’s like a part of you. Like a leg missing or a heaviness like a weighted blanket, comforting, warm.”

“Oh like right now I feel his lungs missing because I can’t hear his snoring.” Anya paced to the counter sharply turning back. “Is he breathing? I can’t hear his lungs. I mean its irritating but at least he’s breathing. Should it be like tinnitus?”

“I led them out of the woods, they’ll be here.”

Willow stroked Tara’s arm. Tara’s head resting on Willow’s side who was sitting on the arm of the chair. “I should probably get Tara home. Think the sedatives are still in her system.”

“And without the crazy.”

“Yeah.” Willow smiled at Dawn then looked back to Tara. Without the crazy. Tara’s eye lids were heavy. “Don’t think she’ll make it to campus. I’ll see if we can stay at home.”

“Stay here.” Dawn’s offer came out as a plea. She took in a slow breath. “No one’s using Mom’s room. You should both stay.”

Willow nudged Tara. “Bed time sleepy.”

Prompt - Silence - Those silent goodbyes.

Heavy. When Tara first entered this room the boxes and bags she carried were light in comparison to the baggage that weighed her down. The boxes, bags and baggage were now relieved. Looking out the window she feared what was out there, what she ran from but now there was a larger view, with police tape. The fear no longer outside or inside.

Like the window gone so were her possessions. One more piece to remove from the wall.

A small tap on the door brought Tara’s attention. “Ready?”

Tara headed towards Willow, closing the door on her way out.

Tara playfully nudged Willow as they walked. “So how was class?”

“Great, Buffy got my occipital lobe going.”

“Not to be confused with the hippocampus.” Buffy tapped her finger to her head.

“Or the sea cow,” giggled Tara

“Thought that was the matinee?”

“Manatee. Buffy you were doing so well,” exasperated Willow.

“Can you milk a manatee? Salted milk. Give it a shake.”

“Like a salted caramel mocha,” added Tara.

“Or cheese. Yes cheese please.”

Willow’s voice grew small. “Suddenly my occipital lobe feels unalarmed.”

“She’s just teasing, Sweetie. And she’s not wrong, you can milk a manatee.”

“You can?”

The metal dinged and groaned as Tara crawled through thick dust lining what was once sleek clean ventilation. Judging from the menagerie of dust, mould and what she hoped was building decay instead of bodily decay, attacking her nostrils, the ventilation system was past providing anything fresh.

Feeling more feather duster than cool monster fighter, Tara’s movements became flighty. Lungs collecting more dust than air. The grey specks obscuring her already limited vision. This wasn’t going well.

A hand touched the back of Tara’s neck, pulling her in to meet an equally sweaty forehead.

“We’re nearly there baby,” soothed Willow.

Author's Note - Anyone else reading 'Willow from the couch' in the exact same voice and tone as 'Jenny from the block'?

All Tara could hear on the end of the line was breathing. Not Darth Vader levels of ominous wheeze but enough to know there was a person on the other end. Tara did what seemed appropriate in such a situation, she continued breathing too.

The line cracked as a distorted voice came through. “You will die in seven days.”

Tara paused. “Again?”

“What do you mean again? You can’t die again, how dumb are you?”

Tara ended the call and placed the phone back.

“Who was that?” asked Willow from the couch.

“Either a prank caller or next weeks problem.”

Prompt - Seven Swans A Swimming.

Beautiful hues of blues and greens danced on the cream walls of the small yet high ceilinged side room. The sun hitting the pond outside just right to shine the water shimmer through. The intricacies of the stained glass craftsmanship was awe inspiring. Each feather pieced together by shards barely a millimetre in width. Vibrant colours delivered with a subtly that manipulated the light to create soft texture out of rough sharp edges.

There sat Willow and Tara hands entwined in twine.

“Know what bothers me?”

“The stained glass of swan decapitation?”

“The stained glass of swan decapitation,” agreed Willow.

Late forties, early fifties. Shirt tucked in, unbuttoned jacket being pulled closed with his hand not holding a briefcase. Short greying hair with small curls forming at the front indicating a trim booked for next week. His time in the elevator was unintimidating but Tara could only focus on the irritation in Willow the more floors they went up.

He departed the elevator, leaving them alone. Tara took Willow’s fidgeting fingers. “What’s wrong?”

Willow looked at the speakers. “This music, doesn’t it sound like what Giles plays?” A small frown betraying her stiff upper lip attempt not to miss him.

Tara stood strong. Willow’s attempts to open the drawer were futile. “Honey, you’ve been burning the candle at both ends, you need a break.”

“That’s extra flamey, you like extra flamey.”

“When you’re extra flamey we aren’t extra flamey.” Tara batted away another attempt.

“I’m walking away because I have class. You didn’t even ask me if I needed it for class.”

“Do you need it for class?”

“No. Again going because I have class. I love you and I’m mad about the laptop withholdyness. You look pretty.” Out the door she went.

And just like that, Tara felt pretty.

Passive beating pulsed against Willow’s ear as she rested her head on Tara’s chest. Her fingers drew invisible doodles across Tara’s skin. Gentle strokes for fear if she pressed too hard Tara would poof and this would all disappear again.

It wasn’t perfect, Willow couldn’t fix it to be, and in a way only Tara could do for her, it felt okay, comfortable.

“I used to think in years, then months, then weeks, days, hours. It became all the time just getting to the next second. It’s gone all rewindy now. I don’t want seconds with you. I want years.”

“You’re getting so mean!” Harmony picked up her hair extensions and stropped off in the opposite direction.

Buffy turned away from her, hands on hips. “I’m not getting mean. You don’t think I’m getting mean right?”

“Buffy you ripped out her hair,” said Willow.

“You insulted her top. It was cute. Little butterflies and unicorns,” added Tara.

“I feel you’re both ignoring the getting part. Emphasis on the getting,” said Buffy.

“Forget getting, you’ve left the station. You punched her ticket then shut the doors in her face.”

“You made a soulless demon cry.”

They both looked to Tara. Touché.

The pencil wavered five inches above the desk. The graphite tip drooping, nearing a vertical straight but then the rubber base dropped down causing the pencil to clatter on the paper below.

Sweat trickled down Willow’s forehead. “So yeah, I can do that.” Her breathing slightly laboured.

“Cool,” enthusiastically said Tara.

Willow smiled at Tara’s impressiveness. “Yeah?”

“Yeah.”

Willow leaned back on her hands. “You think in time we could float each other? Like really high.”

“Like fly around? Like a superhero.”

“Maybe without our underwear.”

Tara’s eyes widened and face flushed.

“On me! On us! Superman! No Superman pants.”
