A Moment of Pure Love
by Imperfectly Me
Tossing and turning roughly in their king sized bed, Willow finally sighed deeply and gave up.
Getting comfortable, she decided to herself, is just not a possibility when seven and a half months pregnant.
She carefully slid out of bed, trying not to wake Tara's peaceful slumber. Not an easy task, considering that she felt bigger around than she was tall nowadays. She quietly slipped an emerald green satin robe over her stretched tight T-shirt and boxers. Closing the door softly behind her she made the descent of the stairs of she and Tara's house. She loved hearing those words, "their house". After all the happenings of the year before, she didn't think there would ever be a "them" again. When Warren's bullet had pierced her angel's heart Willow's world had stopped spinning completely. She lost herself in an insanity she never thought she would be free from. And but for the mercy of the Goddess she wouldn't have been. Who would have thought that someone who had done the things she had in that timeframe would still be deemed pure enough by the Goddess to be granted her one heart's wish. But she had been forgiven, and her wish had been granted. Her Tara had been given back to her.
She sat down at their living room desk and picked up a small, silver framed picture. A slow smile of pure serenity lit her entire face up. They were going to be mommies soon. She clutched the sonogram picture to her chest and leaned back in the leather computer chair.
"Our child," she said out loud. No matter how many times she said it, it still seemed surreal to her. That she, the shy, bookish nerd girl, had grown into a secure woman who was just a few months shy of bearing a child conceived of pure love. When she and Tara had found the spell in one of Tara's mother's spellbooks they had decided that it was what they both wanted. They had performed the ritual that night. When Willow took the pregnancy test that assured them of their results, neither one of them could speak. They just sat holding one another and crying tears of pure happiness.
"Until the freaking began," she chuckled quietly to herself. After the initial period of being overjoyed, they had had to figure out how to tell their families, and scarier still, the Scoobies.
Willow's parent's had been overjoyed. They assumed the child had been a result of "conventional methods". And the two women were more than happy to allow them to belive that. Tara's father, on the other hand, had hung up on her after hearing the news. They had decided that if that was the way he wanted things, he could live his life without knowing the joy of seeing his grandchild's smiling face.
As for the Scoobies, well, that had been quite an affair. Sitting back in her chair, Willow reflected on the dinner party they had thrown for everyone, breaking the news to them at the end.

Everyone was seated around the dining room table just finishing their meals. Xander, per usual, was joking and goofing with Dawn, Buffy was helping clear the table and Anya was trying her best to not look bored and uncomfortable around Xander.
"Um..I..W-well, W-willow and I h-have some news we'd l-like to share," Tara said, standing up. Immediately everyone's attention was focused on the blonde witch. She had been rather quiet lately, so any announcement she was going to make had to be big.
"D-do you want to tell them Baby, or should I," she asked, looking adoringly at the redhead.
"Let's tell them together honey." Willow took Tara's hand and they looked at the table of upturned faces.
"Tara and I have decided to let you in on a little secret we've been keeping for a few weeks now," Willow began, a huge grin on her face. She looked at her lover, sharing a small secretive smile between them.
"W-w-we're uhm...well, Willow and I are having a baby," Tara said slowly.
A complete silence filled the room. It seemed everyone's jaws had come unhinged, as they were all hanging open in amazement.
"But...Willow, you guys don't have the right plumbing for that!" Xander exclaimed, then slowly shut his mouth as realization dawned on him.
"Oh, well, I suppose nowadays you don't need the plumbing anyhow, huh?" He said with a stupid grin on his face.
At that everyone started talking at once, and jumped up to hug the two witches. Amid the melee of Scooby arms Willow caught Tara's eye and mouthed the words I love you. The blonde smiled in response before breaking her way out of the pile-up. Slowly the hugs dissipated and they all sat down again. Desert was doled out and everyone seemed caught up in their own thoughts until Buffy suddenly looked up with a confused look on her face.
"Um, not to sound stupid or anything, but...um..who's carrying the baby? You said you were having one, but you didn't mention who was actually HAVING the baby."
Willow grinned. "I'm carrying the baby. But just to clear things up, maybe I should fill you in on the details of how and when."
"Whoo Hoooo, we get to hear all about the hows??" Xander asked, excited.
"Not those kind of hows, you pervie," Willow admonished. "Just that we're two months along now and that we decided that we wanted our baby to be parts of both of us, so we performed a spell to combine our essences instead of using artificial insemination.
"So, you mean that the baby was made without sperm?" Dawn asked, wide eyed.
Buffy's eyes went wide as she regarded her little sister. "Um, excuse me miss big pants, but what would you know about sperm and making a baby?"
Dawn rolled her eyes back into her head and sighed. "Duh, hello...I'm sixteen, not six Buffy. I took sex ed in school, remember?" "Mom threw a fit, but she let me take it."
"Ok, so you have me on that one," Buffy surrendered to the girl.
Tara smiled at the teenager. "Yes Dawnie, this baby was conceived of a single moment of pure love that combined Willow's and my essence and caused fertilization." It's the end result of a very complicated spell," she added, looking pointedly at Xander, whose eyes had that far off glazed look to them.
"Well, I think I speak for everyone when I say Congratulations," Buffy said. Then, realization hitting her, she squealed "OOOOHHHHH, BABY SHOWER!!"
