Summary:
“Music from the Heart” is a series of stand alone stories, that feature missing scenes of our favorite girls, (or are entirely au) . As well as some of my favorite songs.
“The Finale Breakthrough”:
What happened after Tara says: “I am, you know? – Yours.” In Season fours “Who are you?”
And what makes this wonderful moment: “The Moment”.
Or The Moment
When love breaks up.
When the dawn light wakes us.
A new live is born.
Somehow,
I have to make this final breakthrough, now
[…]
If I could only reach you
If I could make you smile
If I could only reach you
That would really be a breakthrough
(Tara’s Song)
Maybe it’s nothing, maybe it’s only in my mind.
Maybe I’m foolish, maybe it’s just a waste of time.
But I don’t think so, maybe I definitely know.
Why do I keep fooling myself, why can’t I let go?
This is not like me, but now I’m definitely see.
That maybe, oh, oh maybe, maybe I’m in love.
(Willow’s Song)
“I wonder where she is.” Willow said, staring thoughtfully at the ceiling. She was lying on the bed in Tara’s dorm room, where she and the blond witch had retreated for the “ritual hiding”.
“Who Faith?” Tara wondered, sitting right next to Willows legs, laying down cards.
“Yeah. I wish she would make a move. She’s making my stomach all acidy.”
“But you think that Buffy can handle her?” Tara asked, she had only started to comprehend how very dangerous the rogue slayer was.
“I think so.” The redhead replied, sitting up. ”But that doesn’t mean Faith won’t hurt somebody else.” ‘Maybe one of my friends, someone I really care for… like you’ She added in her mind.
“Well, you should be safe. Nobody knows you’re here. I mean, they don’t even know I exist, right? I know all about them, but…”
“Hey!” Willow said, comfortingly touching Tara’s knee.
“I mean that’s totally cool. I mean it’s good. It’s better.” The blond girl said, not even convincing herself, not to mention the other witch.
“Tara, it’s not like I don’t want my friends to know you. It’s just… Well Buffy’s like my best friend and she’s very special. And there’s the hole bunch of us and we sort of have this group thing that revolves around the slaying. And I really want you to meet them.” Willow explained and then added shyly, “But I just kinda like having something that’s just, you know, mine.”
‘Why’d she say this?’ The redhead wondered and why this odd choice of words?
“And I usually don’t use so many words to say stuff that little, but do you get it at all?” ‘Because I certainly did not.’ I think you wanna say “the blond wondered” ….
“I do.” Tara smiled, having read between the lines.
Following a short but most wonderful moment of quietness, Willow finally broke the silence by saying: “I should check in with Giles, get a situation update.”
She stood up and made her way towards the phone on the sideboard.
Hesitating shortly, Tara then took all of her courage together, to say the words she had wanted to say, ever since she had first laid eyes on the beautiful red-haired young woman.
“I am, you know?”
“What?”
Tara’s head turned around, facing the other girl.
“Yours.”
Willow smiled warmly upon the blond girl, sitting right in front of her, as they continued to look into each others eyes. Having forgotten about the call all together, Willow stopped reaching for the phone. And it was in this very moment that it hit her.
‘She’s mine! She’s really mine!’ Willow thought. And she knew, that Tara hadn’t said this to be polite, to say something, if not anything, to her seemingly pointless babbling.
No, she had said it and she most certainly meant it.
I am yours.
Three powerful words, as powerful as these other three words, she could now read only to clearly in the blond girls deep blue eyes, saying nothing less then - I love you.
Willow realised, that she hadn’t been babbling at all or at least not in her usually babbling kind of way. No, she had just tried to vocalise what she had been feeling for the blond witch, ever since there hands first touched, joining forces in order to move that vending machine, way back when they encountered the gentlemen together.
Back then, she couldn’t explain those feelings, but at the same time she always knew that Tara could be, if not should be, more then “just” a Wicca buddy or a good friend.
‘Why do you keep philosophising, stupid?’ A little voice inside Willow’s mind, started to yell at her. ‘You finally know that you love her! So go and tell her!‘
Of course she loved Tara, how could it be otherwise?
Willow knew, that this was love, the real thing. And it didn’t matter at all, that she was in love with another woman, no Ma’am!
‘Would you please, be so nice to finally stop pondering pointlessly around in circles and move your sorry skinny little ass over there and tell her!’ – That voice again!
To keep her little inner-voice from assaulting herself any further, Willow finally crossed the short gap to the bed and sat down right in front of Tara, who was beaming hopefully. How beautiful she looks when she smiles. Willow thought.
Almost shyly, Willow took Tara’s hands gently into her own and they both continued to lose themselves in each others eyes.
But as Willow tried to put her newly or finally, discovered feelings into words, all the great words that kept flying through her mind, seemed to be inappropriate for what she wanted to say. And so Willow simply continued to hold Tara’s hands – who enjoyed even the silence between them – searching for the right words.
“I’ve fallen in love and it’s all right.” Willow whispered to herself.
“What?” Tara asked, carefully not wanting to disturb the magic of this special moment. The moment that she had been dreaming of, ever since she had started to dream of her special someone as a she.
Willow took a deep breath before she spoke aging, with a softness in her voice that made Tara feel all fuzzy and warm inside.
“I’ve fallen in love some time ago, but it wasn’t who I thought it would be. I just realised that being with you I can be more then I thought I ever could be. That I can just be me and it’s okay. That I’m looking at you and I’m… home.
“What I’m trying to say is: I love you Tara Maclay.”
Willow fell silent looking for an answerer to what she just had said in Tara’s china blue eyes. Those deep blue oceans that, ever since she had first looked into Tara’s eyes during the Gentlemen’s visit, had drawn her nearer to the blond girl.
As Willow kept losing herself in the windows of Tara’s soul, she once more saw the emotion she had been dreaming of for quiet some time without knowing it to be Tara all along. Before she knew Tara to be ‘the One’.
But then Tara spoke these words, and if in this moment an angel had come down singing, it would never sound as angelic and heavenly as Tara uttering those words: “I love you too Willow Rosenberg, with all my heart.”
With no way to furthermore put their feelings in to words, both girls fell silent, holding each others hands cherishing the moment.
Then they leaned forward to embrace into a loving hug. Just enjoying the sensation of holding each other. Then they pulled away, only a little bit, without letting go of each other and then Willow leaned in again, bringing her own face closer to Tara’s angelic features and their lips further closed in, until only separated by a breath. Then they finally met for a very first kiss. It’s a very tender kiss, their lips hardly touching at all, but soon their kissing became deeper and more passionate.
Willow would never remember how long their first kiss had been, but she would always remember it in each and every detail. For this kiss had awakened something inside her finally to change her live forever.
But even the longest kiss had to end eventually and opening her eyes again Willow leaned slowly back to face her friend – no, her girlfriend, who was just opening her stunning blue eyes too. ‘Tara’s my girlfriend’ Willow thought and that really sounded good.
“So this is okay?” She asked.
“Oh, very okay.” Tara assured her with another kiss, this time a even more passionate one. She felt overwhelmed by happiness. Finally her dream had come true. The girl she’d loved ever since she first saw her together with Buffy in the college library, was in love with her too.
“Not that I want to change the subject, but shouldn’t you call Giles?” She asked carefully.
Willow teasingly stuck out her chin, “Don’t want to call, want more smoochies!”
“Okay,” the blond witch consented. “One more. But then you have to make the call. It’s important, remember?” She smiled conspiringly. “Maybe you get another one after you call?”
“Are you trying to blackmail that’s not really coercing me, Lady?” Willow wondered, with a huge grin on her face. ”On the first day of our… relationship?”
‘Our relationship, that sounds good too.’ Willow thought and then leaned forward to get the first of her promised kisses. “All right, I’ll call. But I got to tell you, I think I’m already addicted to your kisses.” And with that Willow stood and called Giles.
“Okay.” Willow said as she sat down on the bed next to Tara again and took her by the hand. “Nothing new on Faith, but he wants us to meet anyway. Maybe we can come up with a new strategy or something. Shouldn’t take long. You wanna come along?”
Tara thought about this for a moment, but then slowly shook her head, “Thanks for the offer, but I think we shouldn’t rush things. Lets just take it one step at the time okay?” She smiled shyly.
“Your sure?” Willow wandered and she reached out with her other hand and gathered up the silken strands of hair, letting them slip across her sensitive fingertips and tucked them behind one delicately formed ear. “I really want you to met them. I’m not ashamed of our love.”
“I know that.” Tara assured her. “But lets keep it for our self for the moment. Just a few more days before you introduce me to Buffy and the others.” She playfully kissed Willow’s fingertips.
Not wanting to rush things either, Willow agreed and so they decided that Willow would go to the Scobbie meeting and if she didn’t return too late, she would take Tara out to their very first date at the Bronze. Possibly introducing Tara to the Scooby’s within the next day or so.
Perhaps as a friend first, to give them some time to get to know her.
Saving the gay-type-girlfriend-lesbian-lover-part for a later occasion.
Little did they know, that Tara would meet Buffy this very evening or really Faith “wearing” Buffy’s body that is.
Who unlike the others would spot the love between the two witches at once.
Following a very memorable trip to the Nether Realm for Willow, Tara would finally meet Giles and the real Buffy, in Faith’s body and help her to get her own body back
But that is a different story all together.
The End
