New Fic: Another Time Around

Postby Sahugani » Fri Jun 23, 2006 10:59 pm

OK well I finally worked up the courage to write, I hope you enjoy it as much as I have enjoyed reading Some of yours.

Title: Another Time Around

Author: Sahugani

Feedback: Bring it on I can take it!

Spoilers: None.

Setting: about 100 years into the BTVS future. It’s not that that much different form now though, computers have continued to get smaller and faster, but that is the extent of the tech increases. I’m using some setting ideas From Jet Wolf’s The Chosen. There was a new Watcher’s counsel started in a town called Trillium, Pennsylvania. That’s about all I can think of that I might use from it since its so far off from what she is doing. Oh and Tara was ressurected the middle of Virtual season 8.

Rating: should be PG to PG-13 all the way through. I don’t think I could write good smut if I wanted to :)

Disclaimer: The world and some of the characters belong to Joss Whedon. He is my master now! I don’t think this will be very long but we shall see.

Thoughts in Italics.

Dec 17, 2110
Morel Institute, Pennsylvania

It was a normal day, well as normal as the psych ward of a hospital can get. Dr. Evans was finishing typing his reports for the evening, when there was a knock at his office door. “Come in.”

The head nurse poked her head through the door, “Dr. Evans I hate to bother you but we have a Ms. Mathews and her daughter here to see you.”

“Yes, yes, I was expecting them. Um, go ahead and send them back if you would.” As he waited for them to come back he walked over to a small cabinet where he had one of those little quick 1cup water heaters and a box of herbal tea stashed and began to prepare cup. A Few minutes later a women and her daughter walked in. The elder was a Brunet in her late 30’s and the daughter was a redhead who looked to be no more than 17 or maybe 18. That face, I know face, but were from? “Evening, Mrs. Mathews,” he said looking over his shoulder, “Angela would you mind if I talked to you Mother first there should be a chair outside the door.” She nodded and walked back outside closing the door behind her.

So what brings you here today Mrs. Mathews?”

“Well doctor, frankly, I’m not sure. She’s been having nightmares for the last few months. Then a couple of weeks ago, she got up and she just didn’t know who I was, and when I called her by her name she just looked at me and told me that it wasn’t her name that she was someone named Willow. After about an hour or so she seemed like she was back to herself, but she’s been in a daze. I was hoping you might be able to help. I’m really starting to get worried”

“Interesting, how long has she been having the dreams?”

“I noticed about 3 months ago. I did take her to another doctor first he just had her keep a journal of her dreams. Angela’s let me read some of it, lots of monsters. Until the other day, I just thought maybe she’d watched to many horror movies, but now she has me worried. That’s why we came to see you.”

“Hmm, did you happen to bring the journal with you?”

“Um, yeah, here it is,” She pulled a small notebook out of a purse and handed it to the doctor, who leafed through its pages for a few minutes.

“Strange… there is a lot of detail in these dreams, most people don’t recall dreams this well even if they write them down as soon as they wake… Well, I think we should talk to her now.”

Ms. Mathew got up and walked to the door, “Angela, honey, you can come in now.”

“Ok now from what your mother has told me you’ve been have nightmares?”

“Yeah, well not nightmares really, well some of them are others aren’t… some are kinda nice.”

“Interesting, tell me about them. I read a little of your journal, but I would like to hear about them from you.” He pulled out a small digital recorder and began recording.

“Well in the dreams, my name isn’t Angela Mathews, its Willow Rosenburg and I have these friends. I don’t recognize them from anyone I’ve seen, but in the dream I know them. There’s Buffy she’s beautiful blond and athletic, an awesome martial artist, and she’s like super strong, she’s usually fighting off the monsters and there is this older guy Giles I think he’s some sort of mentor for her but strangely he feel’s like a father to all of us.” The doctor’s eye’s began to go wide has she spoke of the characters from her dreams, he immediately new what was going on but remained quiet and continued listening as he took notes. “Then there’s Xander he’s um… Well he’s pretty normal I guess, but in the dream I think I’ve know him since we were kids. We’re best friends and I love him like a brother. Then there’s Tara Maclay…” a grin crept across her face and the sound of the name. “She’s my… um… well in the dreams she’s…, “Angela’s face burned red as she though of the girl who now left her flustered and embarrassed. “… my girlfriend. We help Buffy by… well I guess what we do is magick. I remember one of the dreams we’re hiding from this woman I think she hurt Tara some way,” bits of memory flooded into her filling the missing pieces. Anger went through her like a fire. Coldly she began to continue. “Glory broke her mind leaving barely a shell of the woman I love. We ran… Glory, she was to strong for us to fight, but we got pinned down in an abandon building. A group of men calling themselves the Knights of Byzantium had come for Glory’s key. We had her with us, Buffy’s sister Dawn was the key, and the thing the beast wanted most. The Knights wanted to kill her to keep Beast from capturing her; we were, however, unwilling to sacrifice her. I used magick to create a Shield around the building that they could not pass through, but we were also unable to leave…” she paused for a moment then blinked and the memory ceased to be so clear, “after that Glory came I’m not sure how she found us but she took Dawn and broke through my shield, she slaughtered the army of men that tried to block her way…” after she finished. She thought it odd that the doctor didn’t even seem concerned, Intrigued maybe but not concerned.

“Ok well I would like you to come in again tomorrow for a one on one session. I have a few ideas as to what’s going on, but I do have a few quick questions if you don’t mind?”

“Um… sure.”

“How are you doing in school?”

Angela beamed at the question. “I graduated High School when I was 14, I’m a sophomore in college”

“Congratulations. And this might seem an odd question but has anything similar to the things that have happened in your dreams occurred while you were awake?”

“No… not that I can think of, but it’s not like monsters and magick are real, Dr. Evans.”

“Of course not,” his tone left her unconvinced. “Well I believe that’s all for the moment, but I’ll see you tomorrow. I’ll set up an appointment for three.

The two women left, both confused that the doctor didn’t seem more concerned, but the face he wore after they were gone was completely different. Sheer excitement covered it. He went to his computer and pulled up as much information on the girl as he could find, he found several newspaper articles that mentioned here accelerated learning curve. Graduating from High School at 14 and fighting to being let into college at such an early age.

He picked up the journal the girl had left behind, the more he read the more he was convinced who she was. Willow Rosenburg the single most powerful witch the world had seen since Merlin has made her way back into the world. He grinned as he thought back. He had met the woman when he was younger, and he also remembered Tara as well. They had both passed on of old age, in the same month, within days of each other, and if he knew one thing one would not have come back without the other.

He pulled up the address book on his computer and scrolled to a name, Giles, Alexander. After a few moments he got up and went to the phone. He dialed the number and waited as it rang. Only a moment passed before the other end picked up, “Hey, Steve, what’s going on, find me another slayer?”

“Alex, I’m not quite sure you’re going to believe this, but Willow Rosenburg just left my office not half an hour ago.”

To be continued…

Ok here's part 2 enjoy.

The next day…

Dr. Evans paced impatiently about his office. How do I tell this girl what’s happening to her. She did more than her part for our cause the last time around. She shouldn’t have to deal with it again, but I have little belief that it is simply coincidence that she is here now. Well if nothing else perhaps she’s here so we can help her find Tara, but that aside she has a right to know what is going on. Alright I suppose that’s the end of my mental debate. I’ll tell her, what she chooses to do with the information is up to her.

He looked at his watch; it was nearly 2:30, the Mathews would be here shortly and he would tell them what he knew. He walked to his office door and stepped out. He had be about to head to the nurses lounge for a cup of coffee when he was interrupted by one of the nurses. “Dr. Evans there is a man out front, says he has a package for you.”

“Thanks, I’ll be up in a minute,” he said as he returned to his quest for the Holy Grail that was Nurse Bennings coffee. He smiled at the thought of the woman’s coffee. Who needs Starbucks when you have her to make coffee for you? After he poured his cup, he headed to the lobby to pick up the package the nurse had mentioned.

The man waiting for him was carrying a Manila envelope and was dressed head to tow in Tweed. Good lord, of all the things to survive the last century why did tweed have to be one of them. Bloody Watchers are never going to make it out of the dark ages are they?

“Doctor Steven Evans?” The man spoke with a bit of an English accent though it sounded as though he had started to pick up American influences as well.

“Yes?”

“Mr. Giles requested that I bring you this; he felt that it might not be safe to transfer electronically.”

“Yes, he mentioned sending some things when we spoke over the phone yesterday evening. Thank you.”

“Before I go, is there anything else that you might be needing?”

“No, not that a can think of at the moment. If do I’ll contact you through Mr. Giles.” As the other started to head out the door, the Mathews came in. “Ah, Mrs. And miss Mathews, I’ll be with you in a few minutes. I need to go over these papers I just received and I’ll be right with you… Actually on second though this does pertain to you perhaps we should go over this together. Now if you will just follow me back to my office, there are some things we must discuss.”

After a few moments they were back and seated in the doctor’s office. As they sat down Angela looked at the Doctor and said “So doc am I nuts?”

He smiled at the question. “No, no nothing of the sort. While normally a doctor would diagnose a person with your symptoms with a dissociative identity disorder, I do not believe what is going on is quite that simple. You see, and you may or may not choose to believe me, I recognized two of the names you mentioned from your dream, Willow Rosenburg and Tara Maclay. I guess I should explain how I know these names. While I work here as a psychiatric doctor, I also work for an organization known as the Watcher’s Council. Both Miss Rosenburg and Miss Maclay were members of this Council before they died. I worked with them close to 20 years. I would have said something before you left but I need to make a few calls to confirm what you had written as actual events. We found what we needed in the journal of our current Head of Affairs’ Great Grandfather one Rupert Giles.” He pulled a palm sized data pad out of the envelope he had been given earlier. Angela and her mother both were staring at him in blatant disbelief. “This arrived via currier just before you arrived. Here take a look for your selves.”

Mrs. Mathews looked at the doctor blankly for a moment and then spoke, “I-I’m not sure what to make of all this. While I’m completely relieved that there is nothing wrong with my daughter, It scares me that your also essentially telling me that everything I know about the world is a lie… that monsters and magick are real… and that my daughter isn’t really my daughter anymore…”

“Of course she’s still your daughter Mrs. Mathews. She’s just been someone else’s daughter before, and you should be proud to have been the one she chose to bring her back into this world. This girl has helped keep our world safe more times than you can imagine. Though honestly I feel sad for her that the Power’s chose to bring her back into this struggle; she’s more than done her duty to this world and its wrong that she will not have the chance to have a normal life, but if I know one thing they wouldn’t do it without good reason, and that scares me more than you know.”

As the Doctor and her mother talked, Angela continued reading the journals and everything began to fall into place; who she was, the things she had done, and the people she had loved filled her mind. Tears came, tears of regret and loss and then tears of happiness, all as she remembered her former past. Buffy, Xander, Giles, Oz, Faith and even Anya, but most of all she remembered her love for a woman, A beautiful blond haired, blue eyed goddess. Tara… Then a moment of realization crept into her mind; why she was here and what she was supposed to do. After a moment she composed herself and stood up. She looked at her mother for a moment and smiled then lean over to kiss her on the cheek, “Thank you… thank you for being such a wonderful mother to me, but I have to go now. There is something I have to do.”

“What, what do you mean you have to go?” Angela’s mother was almost insane at the thought of her daughter leaving.

“Mom, I have to go to her, she’s waiting for me.”

“Who? Who’s waiting for you?”

“Tara.”

“Honey, you don’t even know this girl anymore, she might not be the same person you knew.”

“Mom,” she pointed to her face, “You know what this look is. You know what it means. I’m going. “ At this remark the doctor nearly fell out of his chair. Same old Willow.

“I-I think I understand, but do you have to go alone?”

Willow grinned at her mother, “I’m sure, but don’t worry I’ll be back soon and besides it’s not like I’m helpless I was one top notch Wicca in my day.” She then turned the doctor, “Tell my nephew I want my old room back, I will be working with him when I get back with her, something’s coming something big,” and the turning back to her mother, “I shouldn’t be more than a few day or so, but wait for me at the Council in Trillium which I’m sure that Dr. Evens can arrange for your transportation.” She then turned to Evans again and wrote an address on piece of paper. “If I’m not back with a week this is were I’m going and Alex should send back up.” She then whispered a few words that were nearly inaudible and with a flash of light she was gone, leaving both her mother and the Doctor

Dec. 19
Denver, Colorado.

Willow had managed to locate Tara unfortunately she wasn’t easily accessible. She had not been as fortunate as Willow had been and was being kept in a local Sanitarium. Great she’s locked up and thinks she’s insane, well not for long baby I’m comin’ for you. She had manage to locate an old apothecary that was well reputed for keeping some hard to find herbs in stock. Just hope they have what I need.

She found the apothecary with no problem even though it was in an odd location. The entrance to the place was in the back of an alley and there was a sewer grate in a covered section just a round the corner. Doesn’t look like humans are the only customer’s you serve? She went through the well shaded entrance. She browsed for a moment and found one of the herbs she needed, freshly dried Rosemary, but the other herb she needed wasn’t on display. Figures. She walked up to the counter and rant the little bell that was by the register and a few minutes later an older woman came up from the back, “Can I help you?”

“Um, yeah, I’m looking for some Amaranth.”

“Hmm, I think I have some in the back. Let me check.” She turned and went back the way she came, but wasn’t gone for more than a moment, “Ok here it is. That all you needed?” she said as she returned to the front.

“Yep, that should do it.”

“Ok, that’ll be 10.80, um… if you don’t mind my asking what kinda spell you working on?”

“Nothing big, just a protection spell for a friend and the rosemary’s just to help her remember me. We haven’t seen each other in a long time.” She said as she handed the woman her money. She hadn’t lied exactly. The Amaranth was for a concealment spell and the rosemary would be used to help Tara remember.

An hour later she was standing in front of the sanitarium. She pulled the Amaranth from her bag and slowly began to chant, “Blind Cadria, desolate queen, work my will upon them, all save the one I seek, your curse upon them, my obeisance to you.” She had altered the spell a little at least in intent. If the spell worked the way it was supposed to it would hide her from everyone but Tara. She went in through the front door startling the receptionist who saw the door open but not who had opened it. Willow looked at here glanced at her watch. Its nearly lunch someone should come out shortly and I can get through then. Fortunately for her, she was right and she was able to slip through unnoticed.

She searched the halls for a few minutes and was able to find what she was looking for, an empty office with computer. She sat down working with the computer for a few minutes, luckily it wasn’t password protected and she was able to find what she was looking for: Tara’s room. Her name was Elizibeth Anders and she was in Room 314. Willow shuddered at the number remembering the beast that was Adam. Damn meddling Powers that be. Ok well lets get moving before this spell wears off, she thought and then she headed up stairs.

The place was huge it was four stories high and could hold up to 200 patients plus staff, apparently it was meant to support most of the county. Tara was on the fourth floor of the building. *huff* Shoulda taken the elevator, she thought as she neared the final floor. It didn’t take her long from there to find the room. Hmm, I might startle her If I just barge in. Maybe I can find a lab coat and play a little doctor. The last though made her grin a lusty little grin. Now, now, that that can wait till we get home. And thankfully one of the orderlies had left his coat hanging on a nearby door.

Willow walked up to the room Tara was supposed to be in and peeked though the small window in the door. The girl was scrunched up in the corner of her tiny room, sitting on her bed. Willow nearly went to tears at the sight. She had seen her like this before. Don’t worry baby, I’m here now. She moved her hand down to open the door but it was locked. Great, just great. Well lets see what I can do. She placed her hand on the door and tried to visualize the inside of the lock. She wasn’t completely sure she could pull this off she could move object with a thought, but moving something she couldn’t see was another story. As she focused her energy to the task little tendrils of magic began to arc off her hand and into the door. Slowly she felt the workings of the lock with the tendrils coming from her hand, then one of the larger tendrils rapped itself around the bolt holding the door closed and pulled it back. Gotcha!
The girl appeared startled at first but then she smiled, “I told them you would come but they didn’t believe me, said your weren’t real, all in my head they said,” she giggled at her rhyme, “but I knew you’d come.”

“I got here as soon as I could, baby,” she said as she closed the door to the room. “Its time to make you better ok?” she moved to the bed and embraced the girl kissing her on the forehead. “Willow’s gonna make you all better, but first we need to get all those nasty drugs that the doctors gave you out of you system.”

The girl looked at her quizzically, “W-will it hurt?”

“Maybe a little but it’ll only be for a moment. Trust me?”

“Ok”

Willow placed her hands on either side of Tara’s face and focused. “Hestia, protector of hearth, home and family, I bid you aid me, let this girl be cleansed of poison and taint” Tara let out a little gasp as the Spell’s energy ran through her but just as Willow had promised it was done in an instant and the fog in her mind began to clear.

“Th-thank you, the medicine made it so hard to th-think. I-I dreamed of you but how-how do I know you?”

“We made a promise a long time ago to each other that we would always find each other… that is why I came for you and why you know me, love. I can help you remember… if you want? But if I help you remember it means taking to bad ones with the good.”

“I-I… yes I need to- to know who I am…”

“Ok, hear goes nothing.” Willow reached into her pocket and pulled out a pair of pouches she had made from the Rosemary, and place one around Tara’s neck as well as her own. She took Tara’s hands and whispered a single word. “Remember”

Memory after memory flooded into Tara’s mind, and like Willow had said some were good and others were horrific. She remembered here old family and how horribly she had been treated by them. She remembered finding a new one in the scoobies and her love for Willow. She remembered Willow’s betrayal and the way she had done everything she could to win her back. She remembered her own death at the hands of Warren Mears and her resurrection that had been orchestrated to bring about Willow’s complete and final fall in to darkness. But out of it all she was whole again. No more being told that she was delusional and that her memories weren’t real. She was ready to leave this place finally knowing the truth.

When the spell ended both girls were crying everything that Tara had seen, Willow had as well. Tara in the shear joy of the moment leapt forward and crushed her lips against Willows and without a second thought Willow kissed her back, tears of joy streaming down each of their faces. A single thought ran thought their minds as they embraced, “I’m Home.”
