She slowly walked toward the main room that lay toward the end of the corridor. The warm, stone, tiles lay underneath her feet. As she walked across the tiles and down the steps she was silent admiring the stone. Beautiful, dark, green marble glowing like liquid with magics that gave it a wonderful blue tint. The walls were a bare gray rock material that she could not remember, but knew she had learned of before in her history class but the name alluded her. The walls were bound centuries ago to be a safe haven from magics and evil of any kind that would try to bring harm to it's people. Ancient warlocks of the strongest kind wove many powerful spells that were long lost to the present world.
Sometimes she wondered about the old days when this temple was merely a shine, but now its was a giant temple which kept many secrets. One of its greatest secrets would be the city that lay invisible to the normal eye. You wouldn't think that such a great place could ever be, but so much was beyond ones normal perception. If you could believe in the magic of the temple and the society you could see the greatness.
This room was almost a mile underground. The temperature was dropping but the tunic and robe wrapped her helped with keep her body warm. The large torches kept the area well lit, even with the seemingly lack of enough oxygen. That always bothered the girl about them temple. The heat that kept the floors and everywhere else of the temple at a warm temperature even in a age when that seemed impossible and unthinkable.
As she down the steps that neared the corridor to the temple she could hear raised voices, and with her hearing be abnormal she could all voices with perfect clarity. She stopped at the landing above the room in fear of being seen or heard. She pulled down her hood which might keep her from hearing everything clearly and when she did her red hair cascaded down her shoulders.
"You can do that to the young warrior!" Obviously they meant her.
"She took that chance when she put herself and this temple in danger." The old wise voice calmly said. She had never heard his voice, but she had never been in this much trouble before, so maybe that was a good thing. "I will not risk our safety over the stupidity of one naive, young girl."
"She is the best warrior we have had in centuries."
"She needs to learn from her actions and that they will not be tolerated in my temple. If you have trained her decently then this shall not be a hard task that I ask of her." The voice said calmly, years of wisdom and knowledge coming out of his voice.
"She is my charge." A familiar, feminine voice came out among the male voices. 'Thats my lady' The young girl thought to herself. 'Maybe with her on my side I stand a chance.' "Shes not ready to be out on her own. Sure, shes gone through the training, but she hasn't been trained for living on her own." 'I could so do that. I'm not completely helpless.'
"Well then are you ready to take the punishment? Or do you have a better idea? If you do I would love to hear it." The young girl knew that by her lady's silence she did not know of a better solution.
The girl turned her back against the temple room and slid down the wall. ' What am I going to do? My lady is right I do not know how to take care of myself. I was taught to fight and how to survive on the battlefield; not, in the wilderness. What would they do to me if I were to refuse? Would they take my sword? They can not take my sword. I have not been trained for anything else.' She had never been without her sword. 'Oh my goddess, would they break it?' She reached her her long sword securely held to her back. She brought it out slowly and lovingly gazed at it.
The black, clothed handle made it have a supreme grip than the others had in her rank. Given to her by her father and him by his, and so on down the line. It has lasted many outside wars and even a civil war.
"Willow, warrior of the northern shrine, of the temple of Vandormont come." Oh crap she hated her title. She slowly rounded from her hiding place and slowly took the steps toward the final room. When she could finally see the room, she could make out to armed guards at either side of the entrance.
"Weapons please." The young man with large arms said to her. She looked him in the eyes for a long moment, everything in her being screaming at her to not give over her sword and dagger. She looked over to the old man in the throne-like chair. When he nodded, she handed her long sword over to the young man to her left. She bent down and took the dagger from out of her boot and pointed it at the boy on her right who kept smartly still. "You keep this safe. I would hate for something to happen." She gave it over with a sweet smile at the boy who gulped loudly and nodded. 'So easy.'
She walked over to the old man and stood before her.
"Are you Willow Rosenberg, daughter of Ira and Shelia Rosenberg?"
"Aye."
"And do you swear before this court of that?"
"I do."
"Today, in this court, you will be handed your punishment for your actions, do you understand?"
"Aye."
"You are saying the you know of the event in which your being sentenced and are ready to handed your punishment." Willow looked over in the direction of her lady and she nodded.
"Aye, sir."
"For the action of putting yourself and another member of this temple in danger I find you guilty, and for the action of putting the entire temple in jeopardy I find you guilty. Do you disagree to these accusations?"
"No sir." If she was going to be punished for something she did she would not further embarrass herself, her company, or her family by acting childish. For once she would really have to act the adult they all expect of her. Though it was really hard of her when she just wanted to beat the crap out of the two guys at the entrance that wer currently staring at her ass. She knew it was nice, but she was being punished by high elder, this was so not the time.
"For your punishment I sentence you to two months of banishment. You will be not be allowed to come onto the land of this temple, and you will also not be able to see your family. As further punishment your long sword will be taken away from you and you will only be left with your dagger. You will be given one a weeks rations of bread and water to get you over the mountains. And if your family chooses you may take whatever you wish, but know that it will be examined and chosen whether or not you can take it. The failure to abide by any of these rules will be a prison sentence or banishment, do you understand?"
"Aye."
"I just have one thing further to tell you. You are a great warrior, with great instincts and better ability but if you want to be about of this temple you must follow the same rules as everyone else." He took a moment to carefully chose his words. "I have watched you since you were a child and have seen you grow up into the warrior you are. However, I think you should take this time to figure you what is is that you need to do and where you should be going."
She was about to interrupt when he continued. "This will give you time to figure that out. Even though you would be a great addition to the temple I feel that there might be more that lie in your future than this. I think you could be something more. Do not look at this as a punishment but as a chance to learn about yourself and what the world has to offer." With that said he nodded to her and got up and left through curtain behind him that she could have sworn had not been there before.
"Aye." She took a deep breathe. This would be the beginning of the rest of her life.
Yeah, I probably need a beta. You can see all those mistakes. Any comment of any kind is welcome.
