Changing history to fix the present UPDATE October 31st

Postby robotguru » Thu Jul 15, 2004 3:35 pm

Name: Undecided as of yet...any suggestions would be appreciated

Author: robotguru aka Chris, please just call me Chris :p

Rating: NC17, bad language and soon to be NC 17 action :p

Feedback: Darn tooting

Distribution: Just ask first ok?

Spoilers: This is pretty much S6 and S7 cannon, with a few differences

Disclaimer: The BtVS characters are owned by Joss, ME, etc. Rayne is owned by Majesco and Terminal Reality, producers of BloodRayne for the PS2, Game Cube and X-Box. I am only borrowing these characters

Summary: The Final battle with The First did not go well, the Turok-Han won through as Willow's power alone was not enough for the spell to turn the potentials into Slayers, her body simply couldn't take the strain, if only Tara were still alive...500 years later, a dhamir (half vampire) is sent back in time by the Brimstone Society to stop Tara's death

Not much Willow/Tara in this chapter, this is just setting the scene.

***

Prologue

Louisiana: 1914

The sun had set half an hour ago, Alicia knew she was in for trouble, Louisiana had a curfew of 19:30, when the sun set, murders and rapes were common place. If the law didn’t catch her, it was likely that someone else would.

Alicia heard footsteps behind her, she turned around but saw nothing, she quickened her pace, five minutes from home, from the safety of indoors. Alicia could still not shake off the feeling that she was being followed, a lawman would have made himself known by now. Alicia’s breathing grew heavier, the footsteps behind her stopped, but still she didn’t feel safe. Alicia started to run now, but was stopped by a figure standing in front of her. The man’s eyes looked at her lustily, predatory. Alicia couldn’t speak, couldn’t breathe, couldn’t scream.

A hand moved towards her, roughly stroking her right breast. Alicia backed away but soon found a wall cutting off her retreat. Fear still kept Alicia silent and soon the man’s lips were upon hers. Soon, she felt her skirt being torn away as the man thrust himself between her hips. For two minutes, a hand was roughly held to her mouth as she cried silent tears. The hand came away from her mouth and she saw the man lick his lips, two of his teeth looked oddly like fangs. The skin around the man’s face tightened against bone. The man whispered three words, “Time for desert.”

Now Alicia was able to scream, she loudly shrieked “RAPE!” The man - the vampire - ran away as doors opened and concerned friends ran to Alicia’s aid as she lay crying on the pavement.

Louisiana: 1932

Two men wearing purple hooded robes stand near a cross on top of a church after sunset. The man on the left murmured “Tell me again, why are we in a vampire ghetto after sunset?”

The man on the right replied, “Patience. Just wait.” On the street, two figures, a male and female, ran in fear. Seeing movement in the alley, the hooded man on the right whispered “This is the woman I’ve been watching.”

The man grabbed the woman’s hand, “Come on!” The woman stumbles and the man grabs her, the momentary delay in running proved to be fatal. A whip shot out from the alley, wrapping itself around the male’s neck and dragging him into the alley. The woman backed away in fear, then her companion’s head came rolling out of the alley towards her.

Framed in the alley was a young woman with red hair, her fringe was drawn into a tight parting and her hair at the back fell over her shoulders. She wore a tight black top leaving not all that much to the imagination and tight black pants, on her feet she wore boots with metal spike stilettos. Her skin was pale, her face looked feral, her skin tight to her face as with most vampires, but somehow, her face was not distorted like most who stalk the night, there was an odd beauty about the woman’s face, unblemished by age. Attached to the woman’s wrists were curved double edged blades, extending out ahead of her arms as she held them straight out. A quick movement with her arms, and the blades shot around on hinges so that they were now extended behind her elbows.

The woman’s arms fall to her sides, the blades now pointing in the air, as she stared down the other female. She gave a thin fanged smile as she licked her lips and slowly wiped a trace of blood off the side of her mouth with a finger before licking the blood. The cloaked man on the left raised his voice slightly, “We have no need for a vampire in our ranks.”

Half vampire, fewer weaknesses. She lusts to feed.” The chased woman falls to her knees bowing her head, shaking in fear, the predator, the half vampire - the dhamir – looks satisfied, one by one, she makes a sharp movement with her arms to rotate her deadly blades.

The chased woman’s head suddenly shoots up, her face distorted, showing the mark of a full vampire. She lunges at the redhead, slapping her face.

The sceptical hooded guy gives a short quiet laugh, “Huh. She chose a dangerous place to feed.”

“She’s hunting, searching for her father.” The vampire again lunges at the redhead, but she was not to be fooled by the same trick twice, she dodged the slap and spun, landing a heavy spin kick, taking her prey face down to the floor.

The dhamir jumped onto her victim, her knee digging viciously into the vampire’s back, she takes hold of an arm and pulls it sharply back at an unnatural angle, breaking it with a loud snap. She holds the pressure on the arm as she demands “Where is he, bitch?!?”

As this goes on, the sceptical hooded guy tries to speak, “The Brimstone Society…”

“…Needs her, we will extend an invitation. Come” The men turn to walk away, the man who spoke in favour of the dhamir leaves behind a red pendant hanging on the cross.

The vampire has let out a high pitched shriek, the dhamir stands up and thrusts her left blade into the woman’s back, picking her up, the right blade, which had been in it’s “holster” position, snaps around and slices the vampire’s head from her neck, turning her body into ash. The shriek stops, but it has drawn attention, windows break and doors open as vampires lunge into the street, they form a circle around where the noise had come from and see only a grenade.

The grenade explodes as the dhamir completes a graceful front flip onto the roof of the church. She starts to walk away, but then a glint of red catches her eye, she takes the pendant and looks at it.

***

Sunnydale: 2002

Willow and Tara stand in the guestroom of Buffy’s house, hugging. Suddenly, some bangs are heard from the outside, Tara’s body jerks, then she looks confused at the site of red on Willow’s shirt. “Your…shirt.”

***

Sunnydale: 2003

“Come on Willow, we need you, because quite frankly, I don’t see us winning any other way.”

Willow looks at Buffy like she has gone mad, “B-Buffy, I can’t do this, you know when I went all dark Willow? That’s the amount of power I’d be dealing with, this would send me down the deep end again Buffy and I don’t know if I can do that...I don’t know if I can come back if it…I don’t know if I can handle that kind of power…” Willow starts to cry.

Buffy looks at her long time best friend and hugs her, not knowing what to say. Her plan was radical sure, but it was the only way. “Willow, we need you.”

***

Willow kneels in front of an axe in Principal Wood’s office. She takes a deep breath and whispers “Help me Tara,” Willow starts to incite an incantation.

***

Meanwhile, beneath the school, in Hell itself, Buffy leads Spike, Faith and the potentials towards a ledge, “I’m not nervous.” Buffy is trying to convince herself, but even if she was at her most optimistic, she wouldn’t be succeeding. “I’m not nervous.” Buffy reaches the ledge and looks down, as do the potentials and sees the army of Turok-Han. “As long as Willow finishes her spell before they…” A rock is dislodged and the Turok-Han look up, “…See us.”

***

In the office, Willow is still whispering her spell, “Tachia insta troi…” Willow feels something coming from deep inside, she screams as her face contorts in agony. A black void fills the room as Willow continues to scream, suddenly the screaming stops as Willow slumps to the floor. The glow that had been around the axe vanishes.

***

The army rushes upon the potentials, a Turok-Han reaches the first one and tears her apart, potentials start to drop like flies as the Turok-Han rip through them. Buffy falls to a blow as she shouts instructions. “Buffy!”

Buffy looks weakly up at Faith and gasps, “Hold the line.”

Faith looks around, “What line?” The potentials have been dwindled down to a mere few, the Turok-Han advance on Spike wearing his amulet, Spike fights bravely but he is outmatched, soon the amulet falls from around his severed neck.

Buffy and Faith stand back to back, Buffy still holding her wound, they are now alone. “I always knew…that an apocalypse would succeed…I just hoped…that it wouldn’t be me that saw it.”

Faith opens her mouth to reply but her stomach is soon ripped open by the claws of the army, she falls and Buffy soon follows. The Turok-Han advance to the surface.

***

Parts unknown, roughly 500 years later

The earth is now a dark desolate place, the skies blackened by the victorious vampire army. There is no light, no warmth, and terrors roam the land. There had been little resistance, though groups had been formed by those still willing to fight. Now, there are few humans, Rayne, a redheaded dhamir that has seen over half a millennium now, stands, looking over what the earth has become, Hell.

Two Turok-Han jump upon Rayne, she throws one off her shoulders and turns to the other, her blades snap into place as Rayne slashes away. She knows that more will soon follow, so she runs as soon as she can, feeding upon a lone vampire to regain some strength. Soon, Rayne finds a desolate building, she rolls in and runs to the furthest corner.

Suddenly, Rayne feels an almost forgotten feeling, “Rayne?”

Rayne whispers to herself, “Darkman? I thought he was dead. Mynce always did say that thinking wasn’t my strong point though.” Rayne replies to the telepathic call, “I’m here, it would seem that humanity has lost.”

Humanity lost five hundred years ago, what they thought was their last chance was taken away a year before.”

Rayne looks confused at this, “Quit speaking riddles Darkman, I’m not in the fuckin’ mood.”

Before the Turok-Han hit the surface, there was one obstacle in their path, two Slayers and an army of potentials.”

So?”

A wiccan tried to cast a spell to turn the army of potentials into Slayers, the magick was too much for one witch to complete. The army fell and darkness ruled.”

What good is knowing this now?”

A year before, the witch’s soul mate, another wiccan, was shot, it was a death that not even the powers that be could foresee. The Brimstone Society has found a way to send one champion back to the year she was killed, though we cannot pinpoint the part of the year in which the champion would arrive, we know that it would be a time before the death. We wish that champion to be you, you were, and still are, the best.”

I’ll do it, how did the woman die?”

It is useless to tell you for the event will not have happened so you will not remember. Only this conversation shall remain locked deep in your memory, you will remember what you need to when it is time. We have a name of one of her associates, Buffy Summers, the Slayer. You must remember to protect the white wiccan. Her name is Tara Maclay.”

Rayne stands up, “I’m ready.”

Remember, without the white wiccan, all is lost, protect the white wiccan at all costs. Befriend her and her companions, her life must be spared. Without the power of the dark and the white wiccans, the earth cannot be saved.”

With these last words echoing in Rayne’s mind, she sees a white flash and then blanks out.

***

Sunnydale: October, 2001

A body thuds onto the floor of an abandoned warehouse. A shaft of sunlight illuminates the body, Rayne’s body. Being a dhamir, Rayne can handle some light and is not hyper sensitive to holy objects, still, this stings a little. Rayne shuffles into a darkened corner. “Where am I?” She puts a hand to her head, momentarily disorientated, “Oh yeah, Sunnydale, 2001. Mind the step, it bites like a bitch.”

Your story

Postby WillowTara Addict » Thu Jul 15, 2004 3:49 pm

:bigwave Hmm, it sounds good. Yes, I can understand the feeling of writing the story but couldn't come up with a title that would fit the story very well. But please keep it up! I would want to archive it when you complete it onto my CD of Willow+Tara Fan Fiction collected stories. Thank you for contributing! :peace

Re: New fic, any suggestions for the title would be useful

Postby robotguru » Mon Jul 19, 2004 4:31 pm

This is pretty much cannon, there will be changes though.

I gotta edit the first post, i wrote Sunnydale 2002 when rayne entered, it's October 2001 considering this starts around about "All the way"

All previous disclaimers apply.

***

Chapter 1

As night falls, Rayne decides to leave the building to have a little explore. As she gets to the doorframe, she jumps when she sees a werewolf hurtling towards her…a knee sized werewolf…“Trick or Treat!”

Rayne curses herself for being so jumpy, “Sorry kiddo, I don’t have any candy,” disgruntled, the kid runs off, probably planning evil stuff to do to the building as is the Halloween tradition. “Dammit Darkman, you know how much I hate Halloween, you never know what’s out to kill you and what simply wants candy.” Across the street, Rayne sees a shop that is bustling, on the top of the door, there is a sign saying “The Magic Shop.” Rayne looks at the sign for a while, “Why does that place draw me? I’ll have to have a look later, I wanna see what’s what around town.

***

Inside the shop, it is busy as the Halloween holiday brings in customers after props for parties. Giles looks harried as he bags various Halloween themed produce such as eyeballs and mandrake. In the corner, Willow was having a heated discussion with a customer dressed in a stereotypical witch costume including the almost obligatory wart, black pointy hat and hooked nose, “I’m just saying that you might wanna rethink that stereotype before someone turns you into a toad.” The woman snatches the bag off Willow and walks off in a huff. Willow stares daggers at her back and mutters, “And while your at it, you might wanna take that broomstick out your…hello!”

Dawn had been walking towards Willow, she caught what Willow was about to say and pulled a face, “No need to stop the invective on my account.” Willow blushes, “Anyway, Tara sent me over because Anya was talking about timber.”

“Timber? Oh, timber, I didn’t get it at first not being much for the timber myself…and anyway, why timber? Why not oak? Or…or maple?”

Dawn smiles, “Heh, what’s got you so steamed anyway?”

Willow sighs, “Damn witch-y stereotypes…I swear, if I see one more person who thinks witches are all about crooked noses and warts…”

“Excuse me, do you have any candy corn?”

Willow looks down and sees a child, dressed pretty much the same as the woman Willow has just given a stern telling off (wearing resolve face and all) to. Willow’s face softens, “Aww, aren’t you the cutest thing?”

Dawn looks across at Willow, “I thought you said…”

Willow cuts Dawn off, “But look how sweet she is, what with the nose and the wart…come on, lets go fill your tummy with candy goodness.”

Willow walks away with the child as Buffy comes up from the basement carrying a jar of mandrake root, she nearly knocks over Anya as she skates by. Anya takes the jar, “Go help Giles.”

Buffy walks over to the main counter to see Giles bagging. “Hey, what happened to Xander?”

Giles looks a wee bit pissed off, “He kept poking me with his hook. I sent him over to the charmed objects section,” Giles gets a hopeful look on his face, “Maybe he’ll poke the wrong thing and get sent to a dimension with a fifty foot Giles that squishes tiny annoying pirates. One can hope anyway.”

***

As Rayne walks around a cemetery, she notices a distinct lack of vampires, considering this is the town the Slayer lives in, “Maybe I’m in the wrong place.”

Rayne notices a vampire raising his mouth from the neck of a young woman, he snarls at her in full game face. “Time for desert.”

Rayne smirks and says to herself, “Maybe this is the right place after all,” then she looks up at the vampire, “If ya wanna try it sweetie.” The vamp jumps at Rayne, she stands until the last second and ducks a punch before throwing a snap jab of her own. Rayne throws the vamp against a wall and kicks him in the back taking him down. Rayne straddles the vamp and plunges her fangs deep into his neck, after she is done feeding, she snaps a branch off a tree and stakes the vampire, turning him to dust. Rayne wipes the back of her hand across her mouth, grimacing at the taste of the blood, “I never was a fan of second hand blood, I am kinda hungry though.”

Rayne walks off to stalk the night.

***

Dawn waves out the last of the customers, The Magic Shop is finally closed after a very long night. Meanwhile, Giles has suggested a big clean up so the shop is in shape for the “Post holiday clearance”, Anya’s idea of course. Willow perks up, “I could just whip up a jaunty self cleaning incantation, ooh, it would be like Fantasia.”

Giles gives Willow a disapproving look as he hands her a dustpan and brush, “And we all know how well that worked out for Mickey.”

Willow gives Giles a slightly angry look, the argument about Buffy’s resurrection still ringing clearly in her ears, particularly the part about her being an amateur. “I would think that I am a little more adept than a cartoon mouse.”

Tara smiles across at Willow, trying to calm her down, “And you have m-more fingers w-which is good b-because you don’t have to overcompensate w-with really big gloves…cos that wouldn’t be all too good in bed,” Tara gives Willow a vixeny look, which Willow returns. Giles takes off his glasses and starts to clean them.

As Willow and Tara look at each other, thinking of what they would rather be doing around this time of night, Xander clears his throat. “Uh, there’s some…something that Anya and I would like to tell you.” Xander walks over to Anya and the two exchange loving looks. “I…we…that is, Anya and I are getting married.”

Everyone offers their congratulations, Willow’s are a bit half hearted, her argument with Giles still in her mind. Willow and Tara walk to the kitchen to go on a snack hunt rather than watch Xander and Anya search for each other’s tonsils with their tongues. As Willow reaches up to open a cupboard, one of Tara’s arms snakes around her waist, “Y-you know he c-cares right?”

Willow closes the cupboard and leans her head back against Tara’s chest, enjoying the contact, “He has a funny way of showing it,” she huffs, “If he didn’t wanna come back here, that’s all fine, but we needed Buffy. Besides, she jumped through a Hell portal Tara, who knows where she ended up?”

“That’s kinda the p-point, she c-coulda ended up s-somewhere good.” Tara takes her arm from around Willow and bends down to a lower cupboard looking for some potato chips to add to the biscuits Willow has in her hand.

Willow looks at Tara’s perky butt for a couple of seconds, grinning, then she walks over to a wine wrack to take a bottle. “Look, lets not argue ok baby? Besides, they’re gonna start sending out search parties at this rate.” Willow squeezes Tara’s hand as they walk into the front of the shop.

Giles sees the wine and takes a glass, “Where I come from, this sort of thing requires much in the way of libation.”

Xander perks up taking a glass of his own, “God save the Queen!”

Tara looks apologetically at Anya, “Sorry this isn’t much, you caught us with our parties down.”

Anya closes the till, she had just finished the cashing up, “Don’t worry, this is only the first pre marital occasion, there will be others…involving presents.”

Tara puts the bowl of potato chips down, “Sure, maybe we’ll even have time to decorate for the next one.”

Willow gets a glint in her eye, “Why wait?” Willow speaks a couple of words and a shimmer goes throughout the room, when it passes, the room is decorated with streamers and paper lanterns. Dawn gives a squeal of delight, the others look around the room, a look of unhappiness crosses Tara’s face, there is a clatter as chips spill.

Xander looks up apologetically, “Erm…sorry, my fault.”

Tara walks towards the kitchen, touching Willow’s shoulder on the way past, “D-don’t worry Xander, I’ll g-go g-get some more.”

As Willow and Tara enter the kitchen, Willow grabs some chips and opens the bag, Tara looks nervously at Willow, “You know, the grocery s-store is still open, w-we coulda g-got some perfectly g-good decorations from th-there.”

Willow finishes pouring the chips, “Why bother? These are perfect, ooh, and extra biodegradable-y, a couple of hours and poof.”

“N-no, they’re good, j-just why u-use magic when y-you can d-do something naturally?”

Willow pours herself a drink of wine and takes a sip, “Well you could fight monsters naturally, with sticks and stones, I wouldn’t recommend it though.”

A look of exasperation comes across Tara’s face, “That’s different.”

“How?” Willow challenges.

“W-well, you save people p-protecting them from b-being hurt.”

“Which makes them happy, just like pretty decorations made Anya happy, it’s harmless baby.”

Tara sighs, “That’s not the point Will.”

Willow starts to look angry, “Why are you being like this?”

Tara looks hurt, “This i-isn’t a-about me.”

Willow raises her voice, “This is so about you! You’re always coming down on me for magick that wouldn’t hurt a fly. What’s your problem?”

Tara also raises her voice, “I-I just w-wish th-that you’d…” Tara stops as she sees Willow look towards the door.

In the doorway, Dawn stands looking a little uneasy, “Erm…I was just checking on the chips.”

Willow grabs the bowl, “Don’t worry, we’re finished.”

Willow storms out of the room and Dawn looks at Tara concerned, then she too leaves the room.

As Dawn enters the room, she offers her congratulations to Xander and Anya before tunring to Buffy, “I’ll see you guys tomorrow.”

Buffy looks across at Dawn, “Tomorrow?”

Dawn looks exasperated, “I’m sleeping at Janice’s remember?”

“That’s tonight?”

Dawn pulls a “Duh” face, “No Buffy, the other Halloween. Come on…you said I could.”

After a bit of deliberation, Buffy agrees to allow Dawn to walk to Janice’s and she walks out of the door.

Love the way you captured the party scene. Poor Tara...It might just be me, but Willow really made me mad for the first chunk of Season6. I mean, what happened to cute, insecure, loving Willow? I loved that Willow! And they destroyed her. She was all 'oooh look at me, I can fly', and she was quite mean to Tara. The girl was only trying to help her. Perhaps if Willow had taken the broomstick out of her arse, things would turned out better. Which, Im hoping, is whats going to happen in this fic. Willow will let go of el ego, and appreciate Tara just a little bit more. She should never have taken Tara for granted...I mean come on. After Glory and all that, youd think our beloved red head would have a tad more respect for how much her girl went through.

:sigh

Chapter 1 (B)

Postby robotguru » Sun Aug 01, 2004 3:09 pm

This is part B to chapter 1

***

Buffy had got restless, no matter how many times Giles had said that nothing ever happens on Halloween…Buffy just couldn’t help thinking about costumes that possess the wearer or fear demons, How come nothing ever follows the rules around here?

Buffy takes a deep breath of air before catching movement in her peripheral vision as a pair of fangs sank deep into a young lady’s neck…

***

Rayne had got hungry…so sue. The good thing about being here, this town was full of vampires, that helps when you don’t approve of killing innocents. The good thing about being a dhamir, is that they are born with the ability to read auras. You might say that Rayne had an in-built vampire radar, that, as well as the fact that dhamirs don’t share the same weaknesses as their cousins made being a dhamir almost worth it, almost. Rayne had found her prey, a woman. This was the type of chick that would act innocent and helpless, luring their prey into a false sense of security, Rayne hated that type. The girl never even saw it coming, a swift kick to the back of the head and it was dinner time.

This is one of the problems with sharing the bloodlust…Slayers often attack first and don’t bother asking questions. Rayne felt a sharp burst of pain, she rolled as she hit the ground and came quickly into a fighter’s crouch, looking over her blonde attacker. She wipes her mouth and snarls, “You disturbed my dinner.”

Although Rayne had never meant this mortal harm, she knew that scaring her off was probably the quickest way out of this situation…to her surprise, the girl just smiled, “Dinner time is over vampire.”

The woman made to strike Rayne but got tackled from the side, Rayne had obviously not weakened her meal enough, “I’d say that dinner time is just beginning Slayer!”

Rayne looked shocked for a moment, Shit! The Slayer…I coulda done without her seeing me feeding just yet…explains how she snuck up on me though. The vampire had an advantage over Buffy, seeing as she had taken her by surprise and now straddled her, Rayne acted quickly, she snapped a branch and plunged it into the vampire’s back, the vampire’s body stiffens and then turns to dust.

***

Buffy was shocked, first off, the girl she saved decided that she wanted a midnight snack man, vampires should not be snacking on Halloween, it’s a rule Godammit! There was also the fact that her original target had just saved her ass. Buffy stood up as she warily watched the redhead. Her skin was pale and she wore a cloak, I hate cloaks, they always hide something and it’s never candy “Well…this is new, a vampire saving a Slayer…you don’t know the rules?”

The girl turned away. She muttered “Dhamir” as she made to leave, Buffy was having none of it. Buffy ran forward and aimed a snap kick to the back of the girl’s head. The vampire’s reactions were too quick though, she quickly turned and parried the kick before blocking a few more blows. The vampire jumped back and ripped off her cloak, at the same time, she made a swift movement with her arms and her fighting blades were locked in position. Buffy made a few more strikes but Rayne pushed her back into a tombstone before bringing her blade within an inch of Buffy’s throat. This was the time that Buffy feared, her last night, Maybe i'll stay dead this time. She closed her eyes and waited for the deathblow.

It never came, Buffy opened her eyes and found that her adversary had backed off, she hissed “If I wanted you dead, you would be, think about that Slayer, because a hell of a lot is at stake.”

Buffy made to reply, but Rayne turned and jumped high before executing a graceful front flip before landing on the roof of a building. Well…that was weird.

***

Willow, Xander and Anya were dancing as music blasted from the stereo speakers. Tara stood in the kitchen, washing a few glasses, she looked a bit upset. Giles took the glass she was holding from her hand and began to wipe it, he spoke softly, “What’s the matter?”

Tara sighed as she picked up another glass, “I-It’s Willow, she’s…I dunno. It’s j-just that m-my m-mother always taught me that m-magick shouldn’t b-be abused or used when it isn’t n-needed. Willow doesn’t seem to s-see that.”

Giles pauses for a moment, “I guess she’s been under pressure, ever since she restored Angel’s soul, she has gone deeper down the magickal path, we just let it slide because…” Giles looks a bit guilty as he thinks about the past couple years, “I guess because it made it easier. Then we relied on it, Buffy did call Willow her “big gun” while she was fighting Glory.”

Tara hands the next glass to Giles, “I g-guess I can see where you’re c-coming from, but n-now W-Willow needs to s-stop using m-magick so much, I j-just don’t know what to do.”

Giles is about to speak but the phone rings, he walks towards the phone as Tara walks out of the kitchen and towards the couch where she watches the dancing.

Giles picks up the phone, “Summers’ residence,” Giles smiles, “Ah, Mrs. Penshaw, yes, how may I help you?” Giles frowns as Mrs. Penshaw speaks, “Ah, Dawn said that she was going to be sleeping at yours…Yes well I know that now obviously…ok, let’s see, um, I’ll phone you if we hear anything from them, y-yes of course, goodbye.”

Giles walks into the front room and turns off the radio. Willow pouts, “Hey, we were just getting our dance on.”

Giles looks at Willow and she falls silent, “We seem to have a problem, it appears that Janice told her mother that she was sleeping here.”

Xander smiles, “Ah, they’re still using the classics, you just gotta respect that.”

Giles heads towards the door, “Anyone seen Buffy?”

Xander speaks up, “She got a little antsy and went looking for Spike to do a patrol.”

Giles frowns, “Well, it’s nice to be kept in the loop.” Giles grabs the door handle, “Um, Xander, Anya, you stay here in case Mrs. Penshaw calls again, Willow, Tara, you two head downtown. I’ll…uh…swing down Spike’s and see if I can catch Buffy.”

Willow smiles and holds Tara’s hand, Tara smiles also though it looks a little forced, the two of them head towards the Bronze.

***

Willow and Tara walk into the Bronze, music blasts out from the speakers as people dressed in various Halloween costumes dance together. Willow smirks as she sees a Luke Skywalker and a Princess Leia lookalike dancing. She puts her mouth towards Tara’s ear and points, “I wonder if they know they are brother and sister.”

Tara smiles as she sees the Willow she loves holding her hand, she yells over the music, “Do y-you think that D-Dawn might have come here?”

Willow yells back, “What?”

The song ends so Tara asks her question again, Willow shrugs, “It’s where I would be if I were fifteen and on the lam.”

Tara looks over at Willow, “Yeah?”

Willow shrugs again, “Well not me at fifteen cause hello, spaz.

Tara giggles, “You?”

Willow smirks, “Mmhm, hard to believe that such a hot mama-yama came from geek infested roots?”

Tara smirks at Willow and gives her a peck on the cheek, “Infested r-roots huh? Y-you trying to turn me on?”

Willow gives Tara an vixeny smile, “I have to try now?” Willow moves closer to Tara and brushes her face as they move up some stairs, as they reach the top, Willow and Tara kiss, their tongues probing each other’s mouths. Willow and Tara both remember why they are here and step away from each other before looking down from the balcony.

Tara searches among the crowd below, “Do you see her?”

Willow shakes her head, “No, there’s too many people.”

Both Willow and Tara think, “M-Maybe w-we could get security…”

Willow cuts her off, “No, that would take too long.” Willow thinks for a moment longer and raises her arms into the air, “One among many, many become one…”

Willow is cut off as Tara takes hold of her hand, “What are you doing?”

Willow smiles, “Just clearing the field, I’m gonna shift anyone who isn’t a fifteen year old girl into an alternate dimension.”

Tara looks horrified an raises her voice, “What?”

Willow tries to placate Tara “No, it’s nothing, it’ll just be for a fraction of a second, they won’t even notice.”

“W-Will, you can’t!”

Willow looks angry, “Why not?”

“W-What if s-something went wrong? Besides, w-what would Giles say?”

Willow looks angry and motions towards the crowd, “Sukut!” The crowd noise vanishes leaving a tense silence though everyone in the room goes on like nothing is wrong. “So, are you taking his side now?”

Tara looks panicked, “No!”

Willow continues to look angrier, “I’ve seen you! You’ve been talking behind my back.”

Tara starts to look angry herself, “This isn’t a-about sides Will, you’ve b-been using too much magick. What should I do W-Willow? Huh? Just shut up and n-not s-say anything?”

Willow quickly responds angrily, “Well it would be a good start.”

Tara looks shocked and tears form in her eyes, she turns, “If I didn’t love you so damn much, I would.” Tara storms off in tears.

Willow sighs, You really know how to blow it don’t you Rosenberg.Takulum.”

The crowd noise returns as Willow follows Tara.

***

Willow and Tara walk into the house to see that Dawn is back, along with Giles, Buffy and Spike. Spike turns to Buffy, “I’ll be heading off, something about big bads not venturing far from the crypt on Halloween.”

Buffy nods at him, “Good fight.”

Spike nods in return as he leaves, Willow walks up behind Buffy, “So, big monster mashing? Sorry we missed it.”

Tar looks at Willow coldly before turning to walk up the stairs, “As long as she’s ok, th-that’s a-all that matters.”

Willow looks concerned as Tara walks up the stairs. “Tara?”

***

Willow and Tara are both in pyjamas as they get ready for bed, “Look, I…I’m sorry.”

Tara looks at Willow,” I-It’s not that easy.”

Willow looks flustered, “Well, what do you want me to do? Turn back time and take it back? Cause I prob…” Willow is cut off with an angry look from Tara, “Joke, I don’t reckon it’s possible.”

Tara looks tired as she gets into bed, “C-Can we not do th-this now? I-I’m tired.”

As Tara looks away, Willow picks up a herb and looks down on it, trying to decide whether to do something. Tara looks across and recognises a use for this particular herb, she feels angry but decides to give Willow the benefit of the doubt, “A-Are you coming to bed?”

Willow sighs as she puts the herb down, “Yes baby.” Willow gets into bed and puts her arm towards Tara but thinks better of it, “Goodnight.”

Aww...

I hate seeing them fight. Although I will stick with the idea that Willow was quite the jerk. Talk about all messed up. Poor Tara. The Victim, so many times over. But hey. Willow did have plenty of reason. They relied on her, and addiction + Tara = how she dealed with all the stress of things. I suppose that could drive a person enough. But why...WHY did she take it to such extremes. Ah well.

Chapter 2 part A

Postby robotguru » Mon Sep 06, 2004 3:30 pm

Thought if a name, if you think it sucks, then give me a better idea :p

***

Chapter two

Willow awoke to an empty bed, she looked around the room a while shaking off the disorientation that comes with just waking up. Like a ten tonne lorry, the argument that she had with Tara hit her, That’s why she didn’t wait for me I guess.

Willow sniffed, then sniffed again as she smelt pancakes cooking in the kitchen downstairs. She could hear the noise of general day to day living in the Summers’ house, most of that noise being Dawn and Buffy bickering. Hearing that sometimes made Willow wish that she had a younger sister herself, not that it would have made any difference to how much her parents cared.

Willow got out of bed and pulled some clothes on before climbing down the stairs. As she reached the kitchen, she heard the front door bang and saw some used plates on the counter, she and Tara were left alone. Usually, this would be something that Willow would be happy about, but she felt that she knew why Buffy and Dawn left just as they heard the guestroom door open.

Tara was just preparing batter for another batch of pancakes, she heard Willow coming into the kitchen and stopped for a moment, then carried on, “Morning Willow.”

Willow made a guttural noise that came from not quite getting enough sleep the night before. Tara just carried on with the batter, “Funny shapes or round?”

Willow smiled at the often asked question, though she felt that she wasn’t entirely off the hook, “Funny, you know me, baby.”

“Do I?”

That question shook Willow, for the first time since she had entered the kitchen, Tara’s voice had betrayed some of the hurt she was feeling. “Well, yeah…I would hope so anyway seeing as we’ve spent a couple years together.”

Tara was silent for a while as she put the pancake batter into the frying pan. “I don’t know what I know anymore.” Tara thought back to last night, how Willow had lost her temper with her and how she had seen Willow picking up a herb. “Can you be h-honest with me sweetie?”

“Yeah.”

“H-have you ever used a memory spell on me?”

Willow looked shocked but also a little guilty, “No, I’d never do that.”

Tara raised her voice a little, “Wouldn’t you? You thought of it last night though, didn’t you? How can I believe you Willow when I don’t even know if we might have gone through this a week ago?”

“I thought of it for a moment,” Willow admitted, “Just a moment though, I’d never do that to you, not after…”

Both Willow and Tara knew what Willow was going to say, Glory had taken Tara’s mind, had turned her insane. “Y-you were willing to violate me Willow, even I-if only for a moment. You were going to mentally rape me, you were going to go where you didn’t belong!”

“I-I’m sorry baby, I don’t know what to say?”

“How could you? Y-you use magick whenever something is unc-comfortable for you, you probably didn’t even think that the memory thing was wrong until this morning.”

Willow placed her arm around Tara’s shoulder and turned off the gas, pulling Tara to her, she tried to hug the woman she had hurt and only now knew how much. I can’t mess this up, I just can’t, I can’t bear the thought of losing her. Tara cried into Willow’s shoulder as Willow murmured her apologies to her, the strain of this argument too much for her. Tara sat down, wiping tears from her eyes. “P-promise me something Willow.”

Willow sat down near Tara, “What?”

“Don’t hurt me like that again.”

***

Willow had gone for a walk soon after breakfast, needing to clear her head, Willow knew that Tara still wanted to talk to her about her use of magick and she decided that she wouldn’t duck the issue.

***

As night fell, vampires again began to stalk the night, Buffy walked through the cemeteries, half heartedly staking a few vamps but not really putting anything into it. The role of the vampire Slayer had always felt a chore to Buffy, but after experiencing Heaven, it seemed so tedious. Buffy knew that the way she was fighting, a real fight would kill her, maybe that’s what I want.

Buffy turned as a shadow fell over her, a voice came from the darkness, “You’re not even trying Slayer.”

Buffy felt cold anger rise to the surface as the redheaded woman she had fought last night stepped out of the shadows. “If you want me to try vampire,” She spat, “Just bring it.”

The voice that came from Rayne was scornful, “If that’s what you want Slayer, that’s what you’ll get.” Rayne backed off a couple steps as Buffy threw a jab and a cross at Rayne’s head, nimbly dodging both, Rayne gave Buffy a knee to the ribs before backing off. “Come on Slayer, I heard that you were good.”

“Just getting warmed up vampire.” Buffy punctuated the last word with a kick that got past Rayne’s block and hit her in the head. Rayne felt a bit groggy as she saw Buffy throw a hook, the hook connected but Rayne spun away from the stake that was now in Buffy’s hand. Buffy went for another thrust with the stake but Rayne batted it away, twisting Buffy’s arm and throwing her to the ground.

Rayne kicked Buffy in the stomach before kicking away the stake. Rayne then straddled Buffy and put her fangs near Buffy’s neck, touching it, then, she stood up. Buffy looked up at Rayne, confused. “Who are you?”

Rayne sensed movement to her right and picked up the stake she had disarmed Buffy of, she looked down at her, “You mind?” Without waiting for an answer, Rayne pulled a male vampire out of the bushes and made him pay for the free show he had just got, he paid with his life. “Whether you believe it or not, I’m a friend.” Rayne turned to walk away, “Oh, and I’m not a vampire, though I do share some traits with my cousins. I’m a dhamir, you might want to look it up.” Buffy stood up as Rayne disappeared.

***

Willow walked into the house and saw Tara sitting in the front room. When Tara heard Willow come in, she turned, “We need to talk.”

Willow sadly looked at her girlfriend, “I know.”

Re: Chapter 2 part B

Postby robotguru » Sat Sep 11, 2004 3:53 pm

Smut alert. Don't let this fool you into thinking it's all plain sailing from here though, there are still twists and turns for our girls

I did a google search on the word "Dhamir", it is an Arabic name meaning "Heart" or "Conscience", good meaning for a half vamp.

***

Buffy walked along the path to The Magic Shop, thinking. Who the hell is this vam…dhamir and what does she want with me? Come to think of it, what the hell is a dhamir? Buffy pondered this as she walked through the front door, “Hey, Giles?”

***

Willow sat down opposite Tara, there was an awkward silence as both girls tried to think about what to say. Willow started, “I guess…I know that I’ve hurt you, it’s just that…I’m not really sure how. I mean, when I do magick…”

“When y-you do magick to help us, that’s all g-good but you use it for more than that, it’s almost like…”

Tara didn’t know how to put this in a way that wouldn’t upset Willow, so Willow bluntly finished it off, “Addicted to it?” Tara nodded her head. “I dunno, I guess I’ve sort of seen it but…”

Tara’s face softens and she moves a little closer to Willow, “But what?”

Willow shrugs her shoulders. The pressure she had been under ever since restoring Angel’s soul had been unbearable at times, she had desperately wanted to be more than the hacker of the group, she wanted to feel useful in a fight rather than be saved all the time. Willow sighs and says almost to herself, “What went wrong?”

Tara barely hears this and makes a questioning noise, Willow repeats herself. Tara thinks about this for a while. “W-when my mother taught me about magick, she t-taught me that it shouldn’t be used to solve every little problem. I think it was because a witch could get arrogant with her magick. Once a witch thinks she can do anything, she does more and more, even…”

“Messing with Mother Nature and reanimating the dead?” Suddenly, Giles’ words hit home to Willow, Who was I to bring Buffy back? I mean sure, she coulda been somewhere real bad but then again she might not have been, she mighta been somewhere nice with bunnies and fluffy clouds and far away from frogs, evil green devils. Willow misses what Tara says to her and mentally chides herself for her mental babble. “Huh?”

Tara smiles, knowing that Willow was a million miles away, “I said, how about I try to show you how my mother taught me? Ok, so it’s probably late now but I’m betting you just picked up stuff as you went along?”

Willow thinks for a while, “Yeah, I guess. I mean there’s still Amy with her general rattiness but I guess I need to try and do less. It would be nice not to have nosebleeds so often…might even leave more time for…” Willow winks and Tara smiles, seeing the girl she fell head over heels in love with at university a couple of years ago.

“Yeah, well maybe, if you’re good and help me with the dinner…” Tara smirks, knowing that she is teasing Willow with a promise of what may or may not happen later.

A couple of minuets later, Dawn opens the front door and heads towards the kitchen, she stops near the door and smiles to see Willow and Tara cooking, some-but not all-of the tension from the previous night gone.

***

Three teenagers meet in a bedroom. This room is a stereotypical “geek” room. There is a high-power computer on the desk, books on quantum physics and (oh the humanity) a desk tidy! No wonder this room bred such an evil as Warren. He listens bored as Jonathon talks. “Well…operation spook-the-Slayer went smoothly…”

Warren cuts in, “Yes, but what did we learn?”

“Erm…not to paint any of the Deathstars on vans?”

Warren sighs, “Pathetic.”

Andrew chips in, “We learned that we can play the Slayer, but we probably can’t beat her in a fair fight, kinda like most bad guy wrestlers.”

“So,” Warren finishes off, “We need an edge.”

***

“So that’s when she told me she was a “dhamir.” Buffy had told Giles what had happened earlier and the previous night.

“Hmm, Dhamirs tend to be rare…”

“So you know about them, that’s a start. What are they?”

Giles takes his glasses off to clean them, “Essentially, they are half vampires.”

Buffy makes a disgusted face, “That means…no way, I don’t even wanna think about that.”

“Most dhamirs don’t want to either. As I said, they are very rare, I believe Alucard is the only dhamir conceived in a consensual manner though there may be some we do not know of.”

“Which would explain them feeding off vampires I guess, pissed off with the whole one-of-you-raped-my-mother thing.”

Giles nods his head, “That and the fact that they have souls, did you get a name?” Buffy shakes her head, “I guess you could try that blasted infernal machine, with dhamirs as rare as they are, you should find who you’re looking for fairly easily.”

Buffy shakes her head at Giles’ refusal to call the computer by name. A few keytaps later and Buffy finds a page. “Hmm, they sound pretty much like vampires without the weaknesses, resistant to sunlight, no fear of garlic, holy objects etc, not that I’ll have to fight her I guess.” As fast as she is, it’s probably good that I don’t have to.

Giles flicks through a book, “Do you remember what she looks like?”

Buffy thinks for a moment, “My sort of build, red hair, intense green eyes.”

Giles flips through his book some more, “Any scars or other identifying features?”

“Ah, I did notice a small tear shaped scar under her right eye.”

Giles nods his head, “I found your girl. She goes by the name Rayne and I believe, if my German is correct, that she worked for The Brimstone Society. Nothing much about her here though.”

Buffy hits the back button on her internet browser and adds “Rayne” to “Dhamir” in the Google search bar. As she hits a site, she calls Giles over. “Your German up to this?”

What Giles saw before him was a scan of a page in a diary with blood splattered in the corner. “Hmm…ah, “There are still damn vampires all around, I’m safe though, I’m in a safe room, they’d have to get in. They’re not all that smart, they keep tearing at the bars. Oh my God! One of the vampires got decimated in front of my eyes and there is a woman feeding off another.

The vampires are gone, I haven’t seen the female in some time either, I’m worried though. What’s this? I hear banging upstairs, no! There’s a lever, she’s right above me…
”” Giles ponders this, “Of course, it could be an elaborate hoax, doesn’t say Rayne by name, only the site you got to this page from. Looking at the page though, it would seem to be from the World War Two period, just before I’d say if the fading is accurate. Never can tell with scanners though obviously.”

“So she’s been around since before the war, doesn’t make sense how fast she is though, the only vampires anywhere near her were alive for centuries, not decades.”

“Dhamirs are different to vampires though, generally stronger, that’s why they’re rare. Not because they’re dead, but because vampires dare not allow them to be born. Alucard saw to that.”

“Some guy didn’t get the make-sure-there-is-no-offspring memo then obviously.”

“Indeed.”

***

Buffy and Giles walked into the Summers’ residence to hear banging and screaming upstairs, Buffy’s shoulder muscles tense until she hears a voice screaming Willow’s name. Buffy smirks at Giles, “I take it their talk helped then.”

Giles shakes his head, “I should have known better than to expect any sleep living in the same house as those two.”

Buffy patted Giles on the shoulder, “Come on old timer, want to watch TV?”

“Yes, loudly.”

***

After Dawn had gone to bed (school-night), Willow and Tara were not far behind, only with most of the tension from the past week or so gone for now, Willow and Tara were making their way to their room for a different reason. luckily for Dawn, she had seen the looks Willow and Tara had been giving each other and had found some handy-dandy earplugs.

As soon as the bedroom door shut, Willow thrust Tara into the door as she fumbled with the buttons of Tara’s pale yellow shirt, Tara growled as she felt the same wetness between her legs that she knew Willow must be experiencing.

Willow fumbled with the buttons of Tara’s pale yellow shirt ripping it off her body, smirking at the reward of seeing Tara’s lacy black bra. Tara was about to protest over Willow having more clothes but finds that her mouth is otherwise occupied as Willow thrusts her tongue deep into it.

Willow drew away from Tara and Tara looks down at her chest, “Hmm, you have more clothes than me sweetie.”

Willow smirks at Tara and then slowly undoes the top couple buttons of her shirt. Tara decides that Willow is going too slow and instead of waiting for Willow to undo the rest of the buttons, she pulls the shirt above Willow’s head. As soon as Tara drops the shirt, Willow feels the straps of her red bra being fiddled with as her lover undoes them. Tara then takes off her own bra and she and Willow both take of their pants and thongs before sliding onto the bed.

Tara lies on her back looking up as Willow’s eyes look lustily into hers. Willow starts to trace her fingers down Tara’s chest and in between her breasts, teasing her with her touch. As Willow’s fingers worked their way onto Tara’s left breast and around the nipple, she thrust her mouth upon Tara’s, her tongue looking for it’s mate. Tara’s hands found their way to Willow’s hair and she gripped a handful. Willow moved her mouth away from Tara’s and moved it towards her neck. Willow’s teeth gently bit into Tara’s flesh leaving a purplish bruise as Willow sought to leave her mark. Tara groaned as Willow continued to tease her breast, “Please sweetie, I need…need…” Tara began to grow breathless as Willow decided that now was the time to go a step further.

Willow moved a finger down to Tara’s lips, flicking around the opening, still teasing, Tara rocked her hips, her clit desperate for Willow’s touch, a touch that Willow still deprived her of. Finally, Willow decided to give her lover relief as she thrust first one, then two fingers inside the opening, feeling the wetness her teasing has produced, feeling Tara’s want.

Willow moves her fingers inside of Tara as Tara’s hips find a rhythm and continue rocking. Willow removes her fingers and smirks at Tara’s wanton look, Willow places one of her fingers near Tara’s mouth and watches as she sucks on her own juices.

Satisfied that she has teased Tara enough, Willow cuts to the chase and thrusts three fingers in through Tara’s lips, clenching Tara’s clit, Willow was rewarded with a scream as Tara’s want turned into a full blown orgasm. Tara’s body stiffened, her hips now locked, her body in an arch. Tara screamed Willow’s name as she rode through her orgasm, soaking Willow’s fingers with her cream. Tara’s body fell limp on the bed as Willow withdrew her fingers. As Tara fell towards sleep, Willow gave her a gentle kiss before wrapping her in her arms and holding her close to her as she too slept.

...okay...that was interesting smut. If it was a little longer - never mind!!...Interesting concept with the half vampire. I have a question. Why red hair and green eyes? That sounds way too much like Willow for me....Is there a reason for it? Nice turn of events from canon though. I myself do not approve of Willow's behavior in the beginning of season six. I shouted, "BAD Willow!" at the TV when she did the forget spell on Tara. Yet, I can understand how she got to that point...

Changing history to fix the present

Postby robotguru » Sun Oct 31, 2004 3:36 pm

This is part one of chapter three and is the Once More With Feeling bit of the fic. Most of this is lifted from a transcript and i make no appolagies for that, i aint making money off it after all. There will be subtle differences after i've passed this as there already have been, there is an explanation and it aint just Rayne. You aint gonna find out for a while though...so any guesses are welcome...not that i'll tell you one way or the other :p

Chapter three

Buffy walks through the graveyard, on patrol. All she can think about lately is what it was like to be in Heaven, and her yearning to return. Suddenly, she feels an urge to sing.

“Every single night, the same arrangement

I go out and fight the fight.

Still I always feel this strange estrangement

Nothing here is real, nothing here is right.”

A vampire suddenly lunges at her from behind a tree, Buffy just quirks an eyebrow as she continues singing.

“I've been making shows of [punch] trading blows

Just hoping no one knows [kick, grabs vampire and throws him behind her]

That I've been going through the motions

Walking through the part.”

Her hearing picks up a vampire coming at her from behind her, she pulls out a stake and dusts him without looking back.

“Nothing seems to penetrate my heart.”

Buffy continues to walk on her way.

“I was always brave, and kind of righteous.

Now I find I'm wavering.”

Two vampires and a demon have a human tied to a tree. Buffy walks slowly over. The vampires see her and start to attack…

Perched high on a warehouse, Rayne sees Buffy singing and fighting. She looks a little confused before singing softly to herself. A lone tear falls from her right eye and settles on her tear shaped scar.

“Slayer, don’t you see?

Your indifference

Can never help, can’t you see

How your friends pay the price

Sure Willow and Tara

Had a talk

But can’t you see

That soon one may have to walk

You can go through the motions Slayer

But that won’t bode you well

Heaven’s great, you can’t wait

But your family is now facing hell.”

Rayne is shaken out of her almost trance when she sees three teens walking along the path, she doesn’t know what disturbs her more, the aura of the middle teen or the fact that the other two are singing in tune to Pinky and the Brain. She turns away from the slayer and silently follows them to another warehouse in the district. She makes a mental note of the place and begins to stalk the night to feed.

***

Buffy looks spaced out as she considers what she had started singing the previous night. Around her, Xander is making a quip about doughnuts that probably wasn’t funny the first time she hadn’t really bothered to listen to it and Willow and Tara were discussing something in a corner of the room. To break herself from her thoughts and her longing, if only for a moment, Buffy decided to see what the current Scooby creature feature study was. “So, uh, no research? No monsters and whatnot?” Giles and Xander shake their heads as they eat their doughnuts. “Erm, nobody, by any chance, started singing last night did they?”

This starts off a whole load of babble as everyone starts talking at once, a ‘Merciful Zeus!’ exclamation from Xander was all Buffy caught as she mentally spaced out for a moment.

Giles looked across at Buffy, a look of concern on his face. “So, what did you sing about?”

The heaven situation isn’t one that Buffy is all too willing to share, “I-I don’t remember, seemed pretty normal though.”

Giles could tell that something was up with his Slayer, but Xander cut off any further questioning, “but not in the natural order of things right?”

Before any further conversation can take place, Giles starts to sing. (I have cut bits out of the song, if you sue me, you won’t get all that much).

“I've got a theory

That it's a demon

A dancing demon!

No, something isn't right there.”

Willow cut in while Tara does ‘Jazz hands’.

“I've got a theory

Some kid is dreamin'

And we're all stuck inside his wacky Broadway nightmare.”

Xander chips in, jumping up.

“It could be witches!

Some evil witches!”

Xander sees the looks of pure venom aimed at him from Willow and Tara and panics.

”Which is ridiculous, 'cause witches they were persecuted,

Wicca good and love the earth and woman power

and I'll be over here.”

Xander sits down as Anya thinks.

“I've got a theory! It could be bunnies!”

The others stare at Anya, while in true broadway fashion, crickets start chirping. Tara starts to sing but Anya cuts her off.

“Bunnies aren't just cute like everybody supposes!

They've got them hoppy legs and twitchy little noses!

And what's with all the carrots?

What do they need such good eyesight for anyway?

[playing air guitar]

Bunnies!

Bunnies!

It must be bunnies!”

Anya calms down a little.

“Or maybe midgets.”

(Ok, for the rest of this song, I’m just copying and pasting with the person who sang it in most places).

WILLOW: (quickly sits down beside Giles and opens a book)

”I've got a theory we should work this fast.”

WILLOW/GILES:

“Because it clearly could get serious before it's passed.”

Buffy sounds impatient as she cuts in, stopping Giles on his trek to the upstairs loft.

I've got a theory. It doesn't matter.

Giles pauses, turns back. Everyone looks at Buffy.

BUFFY:

What can't we face if we're together?

What's in this place that we can't weather?

Apocalypse?

We've all been there.

The same old trips

Why should we care?

ALL EXCEPT GILES:

What can't we do if we get in it?

We'll work it through within a minute.

Buffy looks at Giles throughout this. He watches her too and finally joins in.

ALL:

We have to try

We'll pay the price

It's do or die

BUFFY: (Quips)

Hey, I've died twice.

Giles smiles, comes down off the ladder.

ALL: What can't we face if we're together?

GILES: (descant) What can't we face...

ALL: What's in this place that we can't weather?

GILES: ...if we're together...

ALL: There's nothing we can't face.

ANYA: (sits) Except for bunnies.

As the music fades away, everyone looks at each other confused. Xander is first to break the silence. “Well, that was…disturbing.”

Xander sits down as does Willow.

“I dunno, I thought it was kinda neat.”

Buffy looks across at Giles. “So, what’s causing this?”

Giles quirks an eyebrow, “I thought it didn’t matter.”

Buffy smirks, “Well, I aint quaking in my stylish yet affordable boots, but this is unnatural, that doesn’t usually lead to hugs and puppies.”

Anya thinks for a moment, “Well, is this happening to everyone or is it just us. Because if it’s just us, that could mean it’s a spell…”

Anya is cut off as Buffy opens the door toe the Magic Shop to reveal pedestrians singing. “It aint just us.”
