Part 1:
It was a dark and rainy morning. The three story Beverly Hills home was quiet. On the second floor at the end of the hall was a master bedroom where a woman was sleeping. All that could be heard was the beeping of an alarm clock that was not being turned off anytime soon. The woman lay completely covered by the sheet with her head under the pillow. After putting that pillow over her head she had blocked out the sound of the alarm clock. It was obvious she was not ready to get up. All of a sudden she felt something shift the bed. She was half awake and groaned. Then, out of nowhere the bed started shaking. She peeked her head out from underneath the pillow and saw what was making the movement.
"Madison Rosenberg" The woman said in a stern voice. "What have I told you about jumping on the bed?"
The little girl stopped and looked at her mommy. "Um...don't do it?" She said as if she were trying to guess the right answer.
"That's right. So, care to tell me why you're doing it?" The woman asked trying her best not to laugh at the way her daughter responded.
"I was just trying to wake you up. You see, your alarm clock is going off and you're still sleeping. I was only trying to help so you won't be late for work." She said as she batted her little green eyes.
Her mother held her arms out inviting her to sit in her lap. She sat down and looked up to give her mom her attention.
"Well, thank you for waking me up. Next time you could tap my shoulder ok? No more jumping on beds, that's what your trampoline is for." She said in a calm caring voice.
"Okay mommy." She put her index finger on her chin as if she were thinking. "I think I'll go put some clothes on. Then I'll have breakfast."
Her mom smiled at her daughter. "Ok then, I'll meet you in the kitchen."
The girl kissed her mom on the cheek and headed for her room. Once she had put her clothes on and brushed her teeth and hair she made her way to the kitchen. Her mother already had her a bowl of cereal on the table and was sitting, sipping a cup of coffee. She sat beside her mother.
"Mmmmm...Berry Captain Crunch, my favorite!" She said with delight. She started eating.
The phone rang and her mother answered..."Hello"
"Willow, it's Joe."
"Oh, hey, what's up?" She asked knowing Joe wanted something.
"Tiffany can't make the interview so I was hoping you'd be able to do it."
"Ugh...me? Joe I...."
"Please Willow, I really need you to do this."
"Can't you get someone else?" She asked.
"No, they wanted someone that starred in the movie and Greg is too new to do this yet. You're the only one that can."
"Okay fine, I'll do it. When is it?" She asked not sure when she would even find the time.
"It's Wendsday at noon, they're coming here. Thanks Willow."
"Yeah" She said biting her tongue.
"Okay, bye Willow."
"Bye." She hung up the phone.
"Well sweetie, it's time, you ready?" She asked, trying to smile through her frusturation.
"Yes mommy, let me get my bookbag." The red curls bounced as she ran to get her bag.
The White Mercedes pulled into the front of school. Willow gave her daughter a kiss on the forehead. "Have a good day, mommy will be here at 2:30 okay?"
"You don't have to work today?" The girl asked.
"Nope, mommy has to do some interviews so I can find you a new nanny." She smiled.
"Oh, ok...that way you can go to work and won't be so stressed out. Aunt Buffy told me how stressed out you were and that I should be a good girl so you don't have a mental breakdown."
Willow looked at Madison. "She did, did she?"
"Yes, she also said that you can be a real prude when you're stressed. Mommy, what's a prude? Cause you don't seem like one."
Willow could feel a long talk with Buffy coming on. "Well honey, you're right, I'm not a prude. I'll tell you what it means someday, but not today. You go on in now, I'll see you later."
"Okay mommy, I love you."
Willow smiled. "I love you too baby girl." She gave her child another hug before she went in. She headed back home to prepare for the interviews. She had a total of seven for the day. Those were the ones with the best references and backgrounds, she was prepared. The first five interviews went okay but none of them seemed to be what she wanted. So she kept her hopes high knowing that one of them had to be good enough. She was down to only having one more left. Her hope was gone and she was begining to feel that it was useless. She sat on the couch to get comfortable while she waited. She began going over some questions she knew would be asked in the interview she had on Wendsday. She pretty much already knew what they we're going to ask. They almost always asked the same type of questions. She was brought out of her thoughts by a knock at the door. She got up and walked towards the door knowing she wouldn't like this person either. She figured the reason she didn't like anyone was because she didn't think anyone was good enough for her baby. She opened the door and what she saw blew her breath away. She fought to speak, but she managed to.
"Miss Maclay?" She asked trying not to let her awe show.
The woman smiled a half smile. "Yes, you're Ms. Rosenberg?"
"Yes, nice to meet you." She said as she shook the woman's hand. She could not tear her green eyes away from the heavenly blue ones in front of her. She then realized she still had the young woman's hand in her own. "Oh, I'm sorry." She said as she let go. "Please, come in."
The blonde woman came inside where she followed the redhead. They sat at the table in the dining room.
"Well, Miss Maclay. I've already checked your references and they all look really good. In my line of work hours can vary. Is your schedule flexible?" She asked trying to stay profesional and not drool.
"Yes, my schedule is flexible, I do have a son but he stays with his grandmother when I have to work. Please, call me Tara." She said with a smile.
"Okay, good. I'm in the movie buisness and sometimes I might not work at all and others I might work 24 hours straight." Willow said hoping that wouldn't be a problem.
"I would like to ask if it would be ok that my son came on the nights I would have to stay over?" Tara asked.
"I don't see why that would be a problem. How old's your son?" The redhead asked taking a swollow of her ice tea.
"Oh, he's six. He's a really sweet kid. I don't think he would cause any trouble." She said not wanting to mess up this interview.
"That's ok, Madison can cause enough trouble for the both of them." Willow imediately regretted her words. "Oh...I was only teasing! Madison's great! Until recently she stayed with her Aunt Buffy....ok Buffy's not watching her anymore but that's because she got this great job and it has nothing to do with Madison cause she loves her and they still play together all the time and Buffy tells her things about me...well, I don't know if she tells her but Madison knows and....um...I'm shutting up now." The redhead said blushing from ear to ear.
"Do you think you could come for another interview so you can meet Madison and hang out with her to see how you guys get along?" Willow asked.
"That would be great! When would you like to do that?" The blonde asked trying not to giggle at Willow's babble.
"How about Thursday, it's pretty much the only day I can with my work schedule."
"Okay, Thursday it is." She said as she got up.
Willow saw Tara to the door. "Tara?" She waited for the blonde to turn around. "It's Willow, call me Willow. I don't like the Ms. Rosenberg, I rather be called Willow."
The blonde smiled. "Great, I'll do that then. Bye Willow." She said.
Willow smiled liking the way her name sounded coming from Tara. "Bye Tara." With that she went back into the house to grab her keys and go pick up Madison from school.
Willow pulled in front of the school where Madison was waiting. She saw her mommy and ran to the car. After getting in she looked at her Tigger watch and then at her mom. You're two minutes late mommy."
"I am? I'm sorry sweetie, my interview ran a little later than I expected. Forgive me?"
Madison gave her a hug. "Yes, I forgive you. Oh..I have this paper to give you." She said pulling a piece of paper out of her bookbag. She handed it to her mother.
"Hmmm...this says parent/teacher night is next Tuesday. Your teachers only have good things to say right?" Willow asked.
"Mommy, there would only be good things to say. I'm a very good student." The little redhead said holding her head high.
Willow laughed. "You sure are baby, a very..very good student. How about we go out for dinner tonight? Just you and me."
Madison's eyes widened with joy. "Oooh...can we? That would be cool! Can we go to Kids World? I love playing the games!" She was excited to say the least.
"Yes we can. It will be cool." Willow said driving away from the school.
