Well, there seem to be a couple brave souls making poetry threads out there (Drakkenfyre, BloodysGirl, etc.) so I decided to join in. It's kind of my way of encouraging myself to write.

And here's one about Tara...

Date With A Shooting Star

fleeting but

precious

as are most things

when you know they cannot stay

brief shimmer

And fades

still,

the impression lasts an eternity

beauty before longevity

absence breeds fondness

along with soft hope for return

Yes, Drakkenfyre, I must thank you for making me get off my booty and write some poems! You post so much great stuff all the time that it made me want to write a little more often. Being busy with school is no excuse!

PostPosted: Thu May 23, 2002 6:14 pm
Hey

A little bird told me to come down here and check out our poetry, and i am very gald I did. It is always so amazing to find people like you and Laura aka Drakkenfyre, who can write. I am very please to read your stuff so keep posting. I have been thinking alot about poetry lately and I have come to two conclusions. One, anyone can writes words but you have to get them in the write order (well Duh) Two, poetry is sorter then alot of stories but convays a powerful message non the same. It isnt easey keeping thing short, as I tried in my messed up mind way to explain to Laura. I am amazed everytime when I see it so short with such power messages and feelings, like yours. lol Now that I have it figured out maybe I can fix my own writting.

Thanks for all of the comments so far!

Okay, so I'm kind of cheating because I didn't really write this poem about W/T. But, as I was watching "New Moon Rising" the other day, I realized that this really fit in with the way Tara felt when she thought Willow was going to leave her for Oz.

When I called you angel I was only halfway joking.

From where I sat,

the light was almost blinding.

You slipped in and out of my life with your divinity,

offering heaven as easily as you took it away.

Despite the hard feelings I am sorry to see you,

once again, on the way out.

I knew you were his

but I wanted to be your everything.

I wanted to be your savior.

You were my melancholy angel and I hoped you would test your wings.

Little did I know your flight would take you so far away from my earthly circle.

It is too bad. I think you could have taught me to fly.

Well, I've decided to give up with the "reality" of the Buffyverse. I've been watching a lot of seasons 4 and 5 and reading smuty fanfic. I think this poem would express Willow's feelings as her romantic relationship with Tara was developing. Sort of tried to follow a villanelle format.

My pulse racing, thoughts impure.

Visions inspired by an angel’s face make sin seem tame.

Thought I’d be good but now I’m not so sure.

The very essence of divinity. Quiet, demure.

Can’t help imagining her hands. Surely I am not to blame.

My pulse racing, my thoughts impure.

Thinking about an angel conjures visions of fire.

Heaven and sin seem one and the same.

Thought I’d be good but now I’m not so sure.

Irresistible, she has a heavenly lure.

Every time I sense her near,

I find my pulse racing, thoughts impure.

Thought I’d be good but now I’m not so sure.

I really enjoyed your poems. They are wonderful works of art. And here's a piece of advice, listen to Laura, shee's an expert and is really nice and really smart. I know it's widly know but hey, just figured that I'd reminde you of that simple fact. Keep going, I want to see more.

Mollyig, Drakkenfyre, SquishyTrishy, TheWhiz, and Vampire Willow, Thank you so much for reading and responding to my work. I can always use the encouragement and advice!

So, since I can never come up with titles, here is yet another nameless new poem:

You could name all of the stars in my sky,

make the constellations your own.

you were never afraid to find your own way,

and, somehow, you found your way to me.

I can finally breathe here,

with you by my side and in my arms.

I think I've finally found my place here,

that which I've searched for so long.

You somehow knew the way

to whisper hope into my days and love into my nights.

Took me places I never knew I'd go;

made me, for the first time, complete.

In your eyes, I am perfect

and, in my eyes, you are even more.

TheWhiz: Thanks so much. I am glad you liked the last poem.

Here is another offering before I wander off to bed...

if I had to name the most beautiful things on this earth,

each one of them would belong to you.

if asked to defend my life’s worth,

I’d say all is justified by loving you.

ask me what makes you so beautiful in my mind;

there are too many answers to name.

your hands, your smile, your taste, your eyes.

but, mostly, the way your breath intermingles with mine.

the feel of your voice as you whisper against my skin,

the look on your face as you invite me in.

a single look your way,

my thoughts travel to a million different spaces.

each one of them is blinding.

another begining of the relationship poem.... are we starting to see a theme here? i must write about something different next time!

i fell in love with you tonight,

or the you you want me to see.

i fell in love with me tonight,

the person i am when you're with me.

i saw you smile,

your lips tasted like wine.

your eyes were different when they looked into mine.

spirit, beauty and everything that you are,

rushing past me,

making it hard

to forget you.

so, i'm still here

catching my breath.

i want to be the person you see in me.

I think you've captured very well the enthusiasm and optimism one feels at the start of a relationship - i want to be the person you see in me.

Hey Sweetie, Sorry for the lateness of this post, real life and all that piffle. Just wanted to say your poems are wonderful. They express the emotions we all feel. They express in words the moments in time that we all share. Thank you for posting. If you ever need to talk or just pounce ideas around just let me know.

Hiya,

I don't know why it took me so long to find your thread, but now I have, I'm glad I did. You write really well, keep it up :) Don't ever let your talent go!

I loved 'Date With A Shooting Star' especially. It was short, simple and so powerful.

Keep writing, I'll be back :)

and alone? Where would you go?

TARA: To you.

I liked your most recent poem. I'm glad you decided to post it :)

I thought the words were wonderful and powerful, especially the opening 2lines. Willow has travelled far and gone through many changes but is now afraid to carry on her journey without Tara :( A well written poem.

Please continue to write!

I guess you could say this is a poem about Willow and Tara's "spells".

slowly,

uncertain,

hands meet,

breath quickens,

bodies intertwine,

heat travels.

spirit, essence,

no longer yours or mine.

not just breathing,

I’m alive.

warmth surrounding.

giving yourself,

taking what’s mine.

more then either of us ever thought we’d find.

open my eyes,

all I can see is your light.

Wow! Your latest poem is so amazing. It conveyed so much meaning and so many emotions that to chose a favourite bit was almost impossible. However, "not just breathing,

I’m alive" was fantastic, simple but so powerful! :)

WILLOW: Where would you go? If you felt lost
and alone? Where would you go?

TARA: To you.

thehighpriestess- hey, glad to see you back! thanks for your wonderful comment on my new poem.

Drakkenfyre- It's me! I'm the crazy poet! Woohoo! I guess we must both be a little wacky. I've been working on reciting that poetry but, unfortunately, I haven't got anyone to practice on right now!

La la la... new poem:

almost forgot I was breathing,

almost forgot we were here,

almost forget everything anytime you are near.

saw you watching me,

something inside caused me to hold your gaze.

wasn’t looking, but I found you.

One touch from you,

my blood runs free again.

you said you were mine,

the world dropped away.

so simple,

never knew it was all I needed.

Angel in my hands and in my heart.

nothing but trust, love, and endless need,

quiet strength and beauty beyond belief.

how is it you are lying here next to me?

Well, I was "studying" and felt like throwing my tape of "Once More With Feeling" in the VCR for backround noise. After seeing Tara sing "Wish I Could Stay" I was inspired to write about Tara's feeling upon discovering Willow's betrayal and then making the decision to leave. So, here it is:

I was afraid once,

alone.

after a long darkness

I found myself,

safe in your arms.

now,

here I am,

lost again.

betrayed by the one person

I thought could do no wrong.

In my life

there have been many lies;

none has hurt more than this.

I could give you everything,

but I could not keep you from this.

You are consumed by your darkness,

and, in it, have led me to mine.

Wish I could trust you,

believe you.

Wish I could stay.

But, these are your demons,

not mine,

and I have to walk away.

between the regions of kindness.." - Naomi Shihab Nye
