Summary:
In honor of Tara’s birthday, I decided to write a fic post-“Family.” I wanted to post this warning in case some kittens find this episode to painful to watch. But in my own eyes, season severed and after that don’t exist. In my own eyes Willow gave up the magick at the end of season five, simply because her honey asked her too. Not because it was an addiction she couldn’t kick. As I said, this is set after “Family”.
Disclaimer: We know who owns them. I’m just borrowing them to fix things.
This is for you Tara, it’s how things should have gone, just one of the ways us kittens show our appreciation.
Xander had driven everyone home after the party at the Bronze. His trunk was filled with presents, Buffy in the passenger seat and Willow and Tara in the back. It still baffled him, the whole lesbian thing, but whatever made Willow happy was alright with him. And it was completely obvious to him and the rest of his friends that the redhead was more then happy.
Willow had a smile plastered to her face. The evening was perfect. Well, most of the way perfect. Tara’s family showing up defiantly hadn’t been a part of her master plan, but it worked out. Thank the Goddess it worked out. Her hold on Tara’s hand tightened, their fingers entwined as usual. To think she’d almost lost this. Tara’s head was resting on her shoulder, and her lover’s eyes were closed. It was late, but she still hadn’t given Tara her birthday present She was nervous, and had almost start babbling to Xander when his car pulled up to their dorms. .
“Morning sleepy-head.” Willow whispered gently in the blonde’s ear, not really wanting to wake her up, but she really did want to get inside.
Tara grumbled. Waking up was not one of her favorite things, especially since she had her Willow-pillow handy. For a moment she was really confused, thinking she’d dreamed this all. But it was too real for a dream. It wasn’t long before Xander helped them with the presents, and she wasn’t sure why he had left them in front of the door to her dorm room. Quietly she fumbled for her key, eyeing her rather antsy lover.
Once she had the dorm room open, she almost dropped the
load of presents that her and Willow had been holding. Candles adorned the room, strategically placed for lighting. Rose petals adorned the bed that had been changed into black silk sheets. There was even something new added, a small water feature that when plugged in, had water running around a small mote, which was around a wooden painted Willow tree. The sight literally took her breath away.
“I-I didn’t get to give you my present, so..I uhm...” Willow was at a loss for words as well. She really hadn’t expected things to look so wonderful. She had set everything up, and at the last moment cast a small spell, just to light the candles before the door was open. It’d worked perfectly.
The blonde set down the presents and shut the door behind Willow, just wrapping her arms around her lover from behind. “I-It’s beautiful. I- “ She didn’t know what to say really, but just enjoyed the scene for a moment.
Willow smiled. So she’d finally done something right. And it felt wonderful. They had made love once before, but hadn’t since. She really didn’t have any need too, just..the burning desire that she had for the blonde. That’s what it felt like every time they where together, or held hands even.
It felt like they just stood like this forever, her arms wrapped around her lover tightly. It was a moment or so before Willow turned in Tara’s arms so they faced each other. Inside, her blood was boiling at how Tara’s father had treated her. How could anyone treat Tara that way? But this wasn’t the time for that now. She pressed a soft kiss to Tara’s lips, her hand caressing her cheek after a moment.
Tara returned the kiss, deepening it just slightly as she felt Willow allow her access. There wasn’t room for words right now, not when her heart was so full. Willow’s lips felt like they were everywhere, despite just being on her lips. After several moments, the heated kisses moved to her neck, and her own breathing was the only sound she could hear in her ears.
Willow maneuvered them to the bed, skillfully so that neither of them fell without laying down. That’d be just great. Stumbling and falling when trying to be all suave-vixen-y like. Deepening the kiss even more, it turned heated, as she eased the blonde down against the bed. It was then that she broke the kiss, the moment their bodies met one another.
“T-this is okay right?”
“Oh yes.”
“Your sure? I mean, we don’t have to. I don’t expect-“
“I’m sure.”
Tara’s assurance calmed Willow down. Her clothes felt heavy, to hot to wear in the moment, but she didn’t want to rush things. This wasn’t about rushing anything, it was about being in love.

-------------------
Tara had woken up the next morning. The candles had burned down, and she was nude under the silk sheets, entwined in Willow’s arms. It felt amazing. Last night had been everything she’d ever dreamed of and more. Defiantly not how she’d ever imagined her twentieth birthday. Smiling, she watched Willow’s eyelids move as she watched some sort of fascinating dream. That’s what this felt like. A dream she never wanted to wake up to. It was the last thought before she curled up again against Willow’s breast and fell back into a contented sleep.
Tara nodded in agreement "She has magic fingers." TheWisdom of War, Chris Golden
