Better to invite the night...

Postby maeve » Sun Dec 08, 2002 11:14 pm

Fic title: Better to invite the night then let the darkness come (if any of you know that poem :-)

Rating: No idea yet, went with PG 13

Summary: AU, Willow is...in a new place, away from Sunnydale

Disclaimer: Don¡¦t look at me

NOTE: I¡¦m an enginerd¡K.not a writer ƒº, and my ¡§o¡¨ key is broken

Willow stared silently at the wall, the heat making her shift slightly.

¡§The paperwork is all in, and I¡¦d dare to say you¡¦re overqualified but her, who isn¡¦t? So, come by 8 tomorrow and I¡¦ll set you up, congratulations.¡¨ The women smiles, impersonal and loud in the stillness of the room. She clasps Willow¡¦s hand and leans forward, ¡§Call me if you need anything.¡¨

Willow looked up, blinking. She was supposed too have called Buffy when she got in, but hadn¡¦t. The all too-fantasy feeling that the trip gave her hadn¡¦t worn off and Willow was secretly hoping that it never would. Still, nothing¡¦s better then taking a couple steps away from life, from the harshness it threw at her.

Buffy had been so upset when Willow told her she was leaving. She had begged Willow to stay but what could she do. Sunnydale was nothing but a city full of loss and she neither wanted nor cared for the memories it left her. This was a new city and a new start and what right did Buffy have to wreak the freedom she now had.

¡§Thanks.¡¨ Willow got up and walked to the door but the women held her arm tight. ¡§You know, there are only 3 reasons people come here, they¡¦re lost, they were born here, or they¡¦re hiding. So call me.¡¨

Her eyes met Willow¡¦s, teeth glinted in the light, the sharp points of her smile made her seem all the more unreal. She opened the door, sunlight streaming in, casting her face in shadow as she stepped back.

Willow walked through the doorway, squinting in the harsh light, the empty, coarse sand making way for her feet. As the hard sun bore down onto the small town in New Mexico, the white of the card in her hand glared back an angry white, the dark letters almost kind in contrast.

Did you use the spellchecker of the board ? It tends to screw up " ' and such.

Around which time is this story set ?
