The Four ( sequel to Guardians of Light )
Author: Marcenik
Feedback: Yes, please…..good or bad….I need to hear it ALL.
Spoilers : All of it ( just in case)
Rating – PG to NC-17 ( I may try to write a sex scene, but I would rather be doing it than writing about it so we shall see)
Pairing(s): W/T of course, J/K , maybe others, tho I am not comfy writing too many other characters in the buffyverse, this fic is centered around Willow/Tara and Jess/Kerry
Disclaimer: All Buffy Verse characters belong to JW and ME, blah blah…the name Kerowyn was borrowed from books by Mercedes Lackey.
Summary: You may want to read my first fic “Guardians of Light” in the Completed fics Archive, page 3, to get a basic knowledge of what is going on here. Jess and Kerowyn (Kerry) are now mortal again after Jess, as a Guardian, was able to help Willow to change the past and bring Tara back. The newcomers both have special powers of their own, and have formed a close friendship with W/T. Working together to fight the forces of evil, blah , blah. And of course, what fic would be complete without a “destiny” thrown in.
Note: Any new characters will be created by me, unless otherwise noted, and any songs used in this fic were written by me and are copywritten as such.
So without further delay, hope you like it.
Chapter 1
‘Willow, behind you!’ Tara screamed in her mind. The redhead spun out of the way just as the very large demon swung its sword through the air where the hacker had just stood, the motion throwing her off balance and onto the ground. The demon turned, growled and raised it’s sword, poised to split the redhead in half.
“THICKEN!”, Willow heard a familiar voice behind her, and turned to see Kerry, hand outstretched, eyes white. The slender witch held the demon in place as Tara walked up beside her and muttered something in latin. The demons sword flew backward from its claw and into the waiting hand of Jess, who in one fluid motion both grabbed the sword and swung it thru the demons neck, decapitating it.
Tara went to Willow and wrapped her arm around her lovers waist and helped her up off the ground, as the four women stood around the dead creature.
“I hate it when they don’t go poof.” Willow pouted. Tara smiled, resting her head on Willows shoulder.
Jess was cleaning of her sword. “Well, the Hoover demons should be along anytime to clean up the mess.”
“Huarvra demons darling.” Kerry playfully chided. Huarvra demons were scavengers and posed no threat to humanity as they only fed from the carcasses of dead demons. A clan of them had set up shop on the Hellmouth and they were allowed to stay as they cleaned up the non-dusting variety of baddie in town.
“Hey ,call them whatever you want, as long as it saves me from having to bury another demon. Besides, those little buggers work better than a vacuum.” Jessie said.
Tara looked at the other three women and smiled “We make a pretty good team, I think.”
“Yeah,” Kerry chuckled,” Buffy should go on vacation more often.”
Three heads turned quickly to look at her, scowling. “OK…maybe not that often. But, c’mon, you have to admit, this was kinda fun.”
“Yeah, maybe for the three of you, but hey,” she said pointing at herself, “ I was the bait here!”
Tara pulled the redhead closer. “Aww, but honey, you make such cute bait.”
“Yeah, well, next time someone else can be the bait. Hey! Maybe we can invite Anya!” Willow joked.
Tara playfully slapped her shoulder, then wrapped her arm back around her. “C’mon sweetie, lets go home. We need to wash all that demon slime off your parts.”
Willow waggled her eyebrows at her lover. “But, I don’t have it on all my parts.”
“Well, I think we should be thorough.” Tara gave Willow that crooked smile and smoldering glance that always melted the hackers soul.
“Um, er, yeah,” Willow grabbed Tara’s hand and began pulling her towards home, turning to yell at the other two women. “ See you at home later. MUCH later!”
Jess laughed as she pulled her girlfriend close and buried her face in Kerry’s neck. “Young love.” She whispered. “Do you remember being young and in love?”
Kerry responded to her lovers embrace by running her hands up Jess’ muscular back. “Darling, we are young, in the mortal world. And I am just as much in love with you now as I was 1000 years ago.” She laid a soft kiss on the other girls lips.
“C’mon” Jess said taking Kerry’s hand. “Lets walk home. The long way.”
As the two older girls walked hand in hand, both could help thinking that choosing to live in the mortal coil was the best decision they both could have made. Their friendship with Willow and Tara had blossomed to such a place that it just seemed logical for the two couples to get a house together. When the house next to Buffy’s became vacant the girls made an offer and began to make it their home.
Jess and Kerry brought more than friendship with them into the mix. Before they were Guardians, they were both powerful mages. Each with their own special powers. Kerry was a truly powerful white witch, and a talented empath and healer. Born with telekinetic ability she can float everything from a pencil to a semi-truck.
Jess, like Willow, had given up magic after the tragedy of her youth, but she was also a fierce warrior who’s physical strength rivals that of even the slayer. She was also blessed with Bardic abilities which enable her to manipulate others emotions through music. She learned the hard way why it is not a good idea to abuse that particular power.
When the two lovers were given the choice to live in the mortal world, the Elders sent them with the blessings of their previous mortal lives, The Witch and the Warrior. The two lovers made an agreement to assist the Elders if necessary and would from time to time be granted the power to teleport in extreme situations. But by all intents and purposes they were mortal again. Exceptionally powered mortals, yes, but they would live out natural lives in this world.
“I was just thinking about Willow and Tara.” Kerry said.
“What about them?”
“They are so lucky to have gotten a second chance.”
“They are, aren’t they? Well, I feel pretty lucky myself.’ Jess said as she stopped her girlfriend and pulled her into her arms. “ When we get home, I plan on elaborating on that.”
Across town, Willow and Tara were showing each other just how lucky they thought they were.
As the Witch and the Warrior headed for home, a figure stepped from the shadows. Having watched the women fight the demon together, he could feel their essences and when they all connected he knew that what he had been waiting several lifetimes for was finally coming to pass. He pulled a cell phone out of the pocket of his long, dark overcoat, and pressed speed dial. There was silence a the line was picked up. “Sir, they have arrived.”
“Are you certain of this? You have been wrong once before. I wont tolerate another failure.”
“No sir. It’s them. Two bonded couples. Each one comprised of a practicing white witch and one who has allowed darkness to consume her and has turned from magic. The perfect balance. I am sure of it sir, it is The Four.”
“Do they know of their destiny?”
“I don’t believe so , sir.”
“Good. They will know soon enough. And when they do, it will be too late. Too late for them, anyway. Only the beginning for me.”
