snuggle79: if this was longer than 10 mins it's because i'm a whore, not 'cos trish is a liar. here you are:
Tara laid on her bed, talking on the phone with her newest friend, Jake. Who as it happens was making her laugh so hard she could barely breath. " Jake, remember we talked about this, me gay, you straight. We can't date." She burst into another fit of giggles.
God, It feels so good to laugh again. I haven’t done that in forever, but this is just too cute and funny. "Aw, Tara, come on, try me and you might just change your mind," he pleaded.
Tara merely giggled harder.
"Sure you can, because I'm not really gay, I was just playing hard to get," she grinned
He didn't get the joke.
"Really? So you'll go with me, then?" He asked hopefully.
"Come on. please.” Jake whined and begged with the cuteness of a little puppy. “ I just need a date for the business lunch today. If I don’t have one, I’ll look really stupid and then evil computer shark geeks will eat me up. Come on Tara, Please, I really need this."
Tara could almost hear him batting his light blue eyes, something he did when he wanted his way. And it seemed to work, that is on all the straight girls. Even Tara had to admit he was handsome.
"I don't have a date, either. But I don’t want a date.” Teasingly she added. “Those poor sharks who wants to sink their teeth into you.”
Tara suddenly felt sorry for the guy.
I mean it is not like a real date anyways. I mean I wouldn’t be cheating on Willow. STOP THAT! You’re not even going out with Willow anymore you doofus. It isn’t a real date; he is just a good friend. So why can’t I go out with a friend? It's free food, right? Just then Tara tummy started to growl in agreement.
"You don’t have to be my girlfriend, just my date, no touchy feely stuff...just, please?" Jake begged. He absolutely needed this date; he needed anything that would help him with the computer company to help fixed his trashed computer program. Millions of people were counting on him.
She relented, but there was NO way she was going to be doing any funny business. "Ok, Jake. But no touchy feelly, you promise? And I am gay, do not like you in that way and as long as you understand that, I would be happy to accompany you for a lunch date. A friendly type date." she underlined her points, arching her eyebrows at him, despite the fact that he couldn't see her through the phone.
"Thanks so much Tar, you know you’re my angel. You really saved my cute ass."
Tara giggled again, the seriousness of the moment lost. "Ok, sure, whatever you say,"
"Tara, could you please wear the creamy thingy, with the green necklace, I saw it when I was rutting through your closet...you would look stunning in that.” Jake poured on his best charm.
"You were rutting through my closet?" she asked, slightly horrified.
"No.I saw you wearing it once, "he grinned to himself, "you looked really sexxxxy."
Tara took the compliment, it was sweet of him, if not slightly disturbing..."Alright. I'll wear it. And you are picking me up then at what time? And it can’t be too late, I don’t wanna leave Chester alone for too long." Tara smiled as she looked at her tiny puppy lying at the end of her bed.
He looked up at her expectantly and made a tiny pathetic whining noise. Tara smiled at him and reached over to scratch him behind the ears. He wriggled appreciatively.
"Thanks Tara. I’ll see you at noon?" Jake asked, through the phone.
"Sure. And just to remind you, this is a friendly type date!" she hung up the phone.
I can't believe that little bugger talked me in to going on a date. I haven’t gone, on a date since… since me and Willow, Tara frowned, and collapsed back on her bed with a sad thud. Chester raised his head and moved to lick Tara's fingers, as if he knew what she was thinking.
She shifted so she was lying on her stomach and rubbed the little dog's belly. "Oh, Chester. What am I going to do?"
After a minute or two, he stopped writhing and curled up to go to sleep.
"Well, thank you for your help," she sighed.
“I haven’t been out of a date in ages; even if this isn’t really a date. It just seems weird without Willow.” She smiled sadly, thinking of happier times with the beautiful redhead, “I mean the word date always means Willow...I just... This really sucks.” She peered down at the sleeping puppy, wondering what it must be like to have no worries in the world, “Oh, Chester, you don’t have any problems you spoiled little puppy. I wish I could be you for a little while."
All the dog did to answer her question was begin to snore, slightly.
Tara looked down at the dog in a playful disgust and started getting ready for her date. After all she might as well look good. As she was getting ready she absently minded put on the green pendent Jake asked her to wear. She looked in the mirror and traced along the silver chain with her fingers lightly. Remembering the day Willow and her had bought these for each other on their vacation. She had insisted it was too expensive for them to buy but as it turns out both went back later that night and bought it for each other. Tara toyed with the pendent for a few more minutes wearing a sad smile.
