wiccan handfasting

Postby danish butter cookie » Tue Apr 30, 2002 5:22 pm

excuse me to crash in, I did'nt get the begining of your talk, but may I suggest Lisa Countryman's Reward and reprisal?

It's set somewhere between 5 and 6 (?) and TMHO, it does the job quite nicely ( angst, fun, fear, and a veeeeeeeeery nice ending.

While it is a nice idea, I prefer to keep it in the Fan Fics.

Why? Well fan fic authors can devote the needed time to such an important event. Do we REALLY want the people that gave us "Hells Bells" the chance at Willow and Tara's wedding???

I also like to think they would both wait till after college.

Added: Of course I do prefer Lisa Countryman's version of the wedding. Mostly because of it simpleness, tranquilty and it does not include a cast of 1,000s. Not that is a bad thing, I expected them to do something smaller. I would ahve liked more Jewish wedding traditions in it. But hey. It is still good.

Sure, not everybodies gig. But those that like it at least have an outlet for their own desires/fantasy/whatever.

I personally did not like the idea either until I read Lisa's fic.

But I am a big advocate of marriage myself and I still count my wedding day as one of the happiest in my life.

I'm not saying marriage is a bad thing, Tim. I fully uphold the idea of two people committing to one another for life. That's beautiful.

What I'm talking about is the whole granola Wiccan handfest thing...because in my opinion, Willow and Tara have already committed themselves to one another. Possibly alone, in private, where it probably meant the most to them.

I've read Lisa Countryman's stuff. Beautiful work, which is probably how the whole marriage thing crept into my brain in the first place. You're right, our girls are hopelessly commited to each other already and probably don't need the ceremony. But keep in mind that Willow is also a hopeless romantic, Tara too, for that matter, and while they don't need it, I think they'd WANT it. And OK, maybe we don't need to see it on screen, especially after the way ME mangled Hell's Bells, but maybe we could at least get a reference to it on screen.

Sorry, don't mean to drag this topic out any longer than neccessary

Just some musings about Tara's character after the gibbillionth time of watching that kiss. Imagine Tara from the beginning making such a statement and macking on Willow like that. She has totally grown into power. She holds the upper hand in the relationship now - what a switch.

I wouldn't necessarily say "upper hand", but the thing about Tara is that she has become more comfortable with having power.

In the beginning, she was almost afraid of exhibiting power and strength in anything. In her relationship with Willow or in Wicca. However, she has had a wonderful progression toward someone who has become more confident in her power and less afraid to exhibit it.

Much more nicely put, sassyeggs. Now - here's hoping that we aren't supposed to see this as the end of her character arc.

Never read anything about the marriage thing just seemed a cool idea, not the wackiest I had by any means. You see it occured to me Tara seems really good at the whole parental thing... :grin

Willow: ...I have to tell you....

Tara: No, I understand you have to be with the

Tara's Last Words...

Postby alexis866 » Thu May 09, 2002 4:13 pm

"YOUR SHIRT..."

"YOUR SHIRT..."

"YOUR SHIRT..."

what the crazed-lunatic-y-fuck is that??? "YOUR SHIRT..."????? a TV heroine dies and her last words were "YOUR SHIRT..."?????? what the hell is whedon thinking????? i mean, scooby doo himself could've uttered better stuff for his last words if he was put into Tara's shoes! no pun intended for scooby doo fans... but... "YOUR SHIRT..."???? i know, i know, everything happened so fast, but... but... couldn't it be possible for Tara to have "WILLOW..." or something else more worthwhile than "YOUR SHIRT..." as her last words???

********long deep sigh**********

***calming down***

OK, OK, OK, I'll reconsider. "YOUR SHIRT..." that's nice enough, Tara is concerned about Willow's, uhm, nice shirt! Hmmm, and "YOUR SHIRT..." is definitely way much better than "OUCH!" don't you think? yeah, "YOUR SHIRT..." is way up there in the 'better' scale than "OUCH!" hmmm...

*starting to get furious again*

wait!

*ok, furious again*

but if we reconsider what i have reconsidered earlier regarding the reconsideration of Tara's last words, I don't think that given how fast the whole event has happened (Tara getting shot) that Tara was able to feel anything when the bullet hit her. So, if she didn't feel the bullet pierce through her, how the hell could she possibly say "OUCH!"???

*head spinning now*

argh! Valium... must...have...Valium... what?... no Valium? Horse tranquilizers... horse tranquilizers... they'll do...arrrrgggggghhhhh!

Yeah, or the minus. Probably won't leave the minus up later on, for now, just playing with it and having fun. I may reset the booth later today with no minus sign. Once I have all the players in the poll. I am sure we can think of a few others to add to the mix.

No Autumn, you see, everyone thought the minus sign was there and there was no removing it. But Rally had the little genie in a bottle and found if she rubbed hard enough; then a reset could indeed be found...
