WOW

your poems are amazing !! I read them all... theres an untitled one from 9/18/03 ...oh my God. The raw emotion, and imagery from that one... it brought me to tears... the overwhelming sense of loss... of love... and the loss of part of yourself.... that one screams... Jesus, did I hear it :bow :bow .

*blinks*

*manages to breathe out a 'woah'*

that right there, is exceptional poetry..

i'm refraining from putting in my favourite lines because then i would, in all honesty, be putting each and every line into my feedback.

Everything about this poem just amazes me, it just, it really touched me. All the different emotions and notions expressed through it; loss, vulnrability, innocence, abuse, control, they all just burn through the page and into your skin, and then go deeper still, you know?

You're really just an incredible writer, i'm so completely affected by that. just, wow, so well done..

would i be able to put this in my special book of poetry? pretty pretty pwease? :blush

Thank you to all of the readers.

SJ: As always, thank you for reading.

Thanks, Gina, for the hug and for the comments, they’re both greatly appreciated.

Kim: I went back and looked at the poem you mentioned, and I’m thrilled that it could invoke so much feeling. Thanks for reading.

Hey, Bellness. Thank you for stopping in and I wouldn’t mind at all if you wanted to put the poem in your book of poetry. Also, I’m happy that the poem could reach you so immensely.

Wallflower

You pulled your limbs away, from me

From the floral print,

Of endless faith, shrinking

Between the bare borders

You had been beautiful, hanging there

With the blank pictures, mirrored

In the cracked glass, beaming

Flawlessly broken

Your hidden thorns hurt, sharp

As they dug into the soft pity, pleading

To be placed back, uninterrupted

Among the morning hours

Your stem gasped, submerged

Within the thick gravity, new among

The aged sky, the old love perished

Buried below the fake soil

Your lonely dreams, potted

Shallow, you wanted more than seeds

If only you had stayed here,

Quietly painted with me.

Really involved. I like how you didn't have to spell out the feelings of the narrator. It's definitely not one of those overt "woe is me, woe is me" poems I find on livejournal, so it was pretty refreshing for me to read.

The imagery, especially, was beautiful.

Defenseless

I took your numbness

The taste that hurts going down

Destroyed the gentleness

Replaced the smile for a frown

I found the coldness you lent me

Cut out your wounded eyes

Held them inward for you to see

The war inside, threatening to rise

I took your soul, burnt it

Watched you suffocate in the smell

Carved your heart so it would fit

Within the stone of your private hell

I left you defenseless

Threw you where you left me

To search blindly for penitence

Unloved and never free.

Yvonne... wow

I now we've already discussed this, but the line about, the eyes and letting them look inward... that gets me. The possibilities for our lives... if we could do just that... see inward with clarity.

As always you amaze me :bow

Thanks for reading/responding, it means a lot.

Je suis désolée mère [I am sorry mother]

I am your daughter in disgrace,

I have broken you,

Once alike, our faces are misplaced,

What would you have me do?

Je n’ai rien [I have nothing]

Could you change me? Make me new?

Shelter your hate and open your arms,

Welcome me back to the place I grew,

Revive my deadness with your charms.

Aimez-moi s'il vous plaît [Please love me]

My world is not an illusion,

The fairytale no longer makes sense,

Victimized by your confusion,

I have destroyed your picket fence.

Je suis pas parfait [I am not perfect]

I never knew the cost of honesty,

Living years on my own absent truth,

Being exactly what you wanted me to be,

Always too old to know my youth.

Je suis désolée mère [I am sorry mother]

I could not appreciate you then,

You do not accept me now,

I want you to see that this love is not a sin,

And I hope, some day, you will know how.

This piece is amazing !!

The sense of not only falling below the expectations, but to become someone that brings up intense negative feelings in the ones we love... who used to love us better. You laid your emotions bare in this. This is so powerful. You never cease to amaze me :bow

Wonderful poetry as always, Yvonne. As far as this last one, wow! This is one of my favorite of yours that I’ve read thus far; really truly this is one of my favorites. It’s hard to explain with words exactly why and I’m really not good with them, there’s just something about this one that stuck with me. I had to read it again it was so good. Extremely powerful, emotional, and so true. Good work, you. :clap

Thanks for reading. This next poem is old and might not seem like much, but it's one of my personal favorites.

Embrace

Digging at the walls of eternity.

Cold broken hands strive for remembrance.

Years of unseen pain.

Youth loses its purity.

The death of innocence.

A rapid choice to an end.

A lost spirit.

Face it.

Life without existence.

Death's fence.

Lost breath.

Embrace it.

Untitled

I left myself open, needing more,

In a bubble of disbelief,

I don’t know what I had fought for,

Stretched your walls, a hostage of grief,

You hadn’t noticed me drifting,

Greeted me with drug induced smiles,

Bought me candy once before lifting,

My innocence from the growing piles,

Of bricks once your tower crumbled,

And I waited to salvage the tears,

Waited to hold you tight when you stumbled,

Waited forever to chase away your fears,

That resurfaced whenever you looked at me,

And our heart beats fluttered, lost in fusion,

I became you and we destroyed me,

There was no time for love’s intrusion.

I would’ve changed for you,

Cut out my heart to be soulless like you,

Turned my eyes to be blind like you,

I would’ve changed to be you,

Erased the scratches of forced keys,

I would’ve welcomed the absence of me,

I had lost myself, eager to please,

I would’ve been your friend if you had let me.

Like I already told you, this is very powerful stuff. Your words have a way of reaching down and twisting my insides. I believe that's your goal, and you do it so well.

Hurts so good. ;)

Thanks Pam and SJ for the feedback. This next poem is an improv I wrote with a friend.

Improv (Counter Love)

Crashing like an ocean wave

Lies crowd my mind

I thought the truth was what I craved

Now knowing, I would rather have been blind

Shall I turn away and not look back

Even if the past has unwrapped the future

Everyday I feel I’m under attack

Wishing to ignore the hate that begins to stir

Everyday I face a new barrier

Beating my fist against the mirror

Words cut deep, but they don’t bleed her

Shredding my soul, but I don’t fear her

I have been lost and I have been weak

I’ve hidden my heart; there will be no more pain

Words become twisted when I try to speak

Now there’s no reason for words, there’s nothing to gain

I’m empty; I’m numb, not able to feel

But I will continue to live you see

Amidst the darkness there’s some light I can steal

Because I’ve been waiting too long to be me.

Thank you for the feedback and yes, I have one more depressing poem.

My Window

Wax drops onto the windowsill,

And I can smell the rain, so far gone

Into the loneliness, where

Colors live on beauty, mixing

Into the sky— spilt coffee,

Flows, wandering.

The neighbors are yelling—again,

And bruises are left to delay,

The morning’s apology, while

Kittens mewl, licking

At the darkness, swallowed

By uncertainty.

Doors close, eyes fade to

Another’s. She gives me a smile, a corner

Of her life, and

I hear her laugh, so far gone

Into the loneliness, smiling—again,

She kills herself.

Pure, reality, untouchable in

My home, I wash the memory

From my skin, while

The window creaks, ashamed,

Stained, and still waiting

To close.
