LMAO - Nath that was fantastic...little part above - OH can I just imagine my mother doing something embarrassing like that...oh hell I know she's going to do that and give Kat more than ample ammunition against me.

Love the update - can't wait for the next one.

Absolutely loved the newest update Nath, I was grinning like an idiot while reading it and laughing out loud at most parts, thank God my family isn't home!! It's moments like this that I wish Tara's, or even Willows, family on the show had been nice and that we had got to see their reactions to Willow and Tara!

Now you're a Salisbury boy? That is just, well, scary, 'cause guess which suburb I live in!! Yep and I'll have you know that my backyard is not one of the 'second backyards'! I have the feeling I'll be defending the suburb till the day I move...or die :) ~ whichever comes first! *Starts singing 'It's a small world'* Yep that's going to be stuck in my head for quite a while now!

Glad the conversations with the folks went down well, i'm just too nice a guy to have naughty parents running around, though i think i may write in a little more trouble when Willow's parents drop by & we've all seen what Sam thinks of her folks :) Hopefully, i'll have something up on Sunday night, if not maybe Monday :)

Sharon - Well i have an equally twisted mind and of course anything can happen, glad you liked the scene with Willow and Tara's parents. :) With no Faith it was hard, but i had to find a driving stick reference somewhere :)

Molly - Yeah, its probably everyone writing Tara with an evil family, i just can't bring myself to do it. Glad you liked the way it turned out :)

BV - yeah , yeah ya figured me out :) Glad you liked the yak with the folks and well how could i not throw it in :grin

Lostsoul - You'll be happy to know i dont see any angst in the forseeable future, though i'm pretty sure somewhere down the line i'll throw in some controversy :) Everything is peachy for the moment, and the forecast is for more peachiness until you dont think it could get any peachier, then it doesn't :)

LittleCrazy - All Steve and Susan want is to see Tara happy, as i think most parents should be in regards to their children, as long as they're happy should be all that matters :)

MissReliable - Glad you liked Steve and Susan and their reaction to Tara. As for Erica, yeah the poor lady is suffering from envyitis, hoepfully some more time around Sam will have a positive effect on her :)

Ashley - Rest assured that any and all embarassing photos will be shown at will to Will :) I kninda got the idea of Tara's embarassing photo from one of me taking a whiz outside when i was a wee little toddler *pun intended :) *, Though that one is safely stored away from the prying eyes of all potential gf's :) Yeah i'm glad you like Erica, i kinda envision her as Kitty from "Dharma & Greg" She's like what the hell are you doing with my son, but really i think she's happy deep down that her son found someone like her. She's pretty much the same except for the whole marrying the wrong guy :)

Christine - Glad you caught up, photo albums with baby pictures can only lead to fun :) Also i wanna send a thx for recommending my other fic in the recommedations thread, it means a lot to know ppl actually read it and enjoyed it :)

Michelle - Yeah, i dont think i threw down too many surprises by the reactions i gave the folks :) Tara's pictures are priceless and yeah i kinda like Erica aswell, glad she turned out okay :)

Katie - Ah see luckily you were able to shield your gf from them, i have full access to all photos of myself and they always remain well out of sight when i bring a date home :)

Areslei - I'm with you, i'm certain its a conspiracy, we dont even have a camera but i have dozens of embarassing childhood photos, explain that :) Glad i got a giggle or two out of ya, glad you enjoyed yourself reading my update :)

Branny - Yeah babe i can picture it now, Kat i'm sure you're in for a treat :grin Its funyn how they say they want you to be happy but go out of their way to make you miserbale in showing of baby pictures, i'm sure that's what you'd be liek aswell :)

Tara22 - Yes Tara has nice parents and they have a funny moments photo album in the car, conveniently enuf :) Had to throw in the driving stick comment, i mean how could i not :) As for those plants, no i dont, i'm a good seed :)

Kristy - The kinda reaction i'm looking for, if i can put a smile on your face, then i'm happy :) I'm with you on wishing they could have at least shown a reaction from say Willow's parents to her being gay, i thought it wouldda been kinda cool if they mentioned Xander and Willow's parents a bit more often considering how much they had Joyce on. :) Salisbury Boy is me, born and bread, well not born literally, i was born in North Adelaide but you know when i got out of the hospital it was straight down to Salisbury North. A few years ago we graduated slumsville and moved up to Sailsbury Heights. I used to live around the corner from that place they dug up the bodies on the snowtown murders, creepy huh :) Anyway, despite the bad rep it gets, i do have a soft spot for it and i still play footy out at Salisbury North, have doen for some 13 years now :) It really is a small, small world :)

MadeinNZ - G'day fellow down underite, trans Tasman neighbour :) Cheers, Glad you're liking it :)

Thanks for all your replies, they are ever so greatly appreciated, they've helped me crack the big 500 replies in this thread which i think is a pretty big achievement that i'm proud of, hopefully we got another 500 in us to take us to 1000 :)

:peace & :love to you all :)

Cheers

Title – All You Wanted

Author – Nathan

E-mail nathspazz@yahoo.com.au

Feedback – Well I am a feedback whore so it would be greatly appreciated

Spoilers – None, it’s AU so yeah

Rating – Between PG and R18+ ample warning will be given.

Disclaimer – Willow and Tara and any other character that appeared in the syndicated television show “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” is property of Joss and Mutant Enemy, I’m only borrowing them and am not making any money off them. All the others are mine though. Also the title for the fic is a Michelle Branch song so credit goes to her and part names will be named after various songs I like that fit nicely with the story so credit will be given there.

Summary – Set slightly in the future, 24-year-old Willow and Tara run into each other, it’s set mostly in New York so no Sunnydale or hell mouth or anything. Just good ol’ fashioned romance.

Part 19 Mr. Jones (Counting Crows)

Willow had gotten the picture of Tara going potty and it now sat framed on top of the cabinet that held all their other framed pictures, mostly of them together, though there were a few individual ones. Tara protested at first but after a while she relented and she herself can’t stop laughing at the picture every time she walks past it.

Willow had lunch with Sam on the Monday after the weekend, wanting to know how the weekend away with Claire’s family had gone. She was surprised that while Claire’s mom had still acted rather bitchy when she was in the company of the other people, she was actually pretty cool when it was just the two of them. Sam hadn’t told Claire of her talk due to the wishes of Erica not wanting her little girl to get worried.

“So you and Tara all settled in then?” Asked Sam as she dug into her salad.

“Pretty much, I mean we still got a few boxes lying around, we’re having a party tonight for all our neighbours, as a sort of get to know ya thing. You can come if ya want.” Willow smiled, as she offered her friend an invite to the party tonight.

“Yeah, I think I could drag Claire around, besides we still haven’t checked out this place yet.” Sam replied as a piece of cheese fell of her fork and back into the salad, both girls laughed at the desperate attempt Sam made to direct it back into the bowl.

Yeah, but don’t think I’m giving you a key to this place, I don’t want you walking in on a naked Tara.” Willow composed herself enough to make her statement, but Sam’s wriggle of her eyebrows at the end of the statement had Willow cracking up once again.

“So Tara walk around naked often, you know, she like to just let it all hang out there.” Willow spat out her lemonade after Sam’s comments. The brunette was having a hell of a time making the redhead squirm.

“NO! And even if she did, your mind should be as far away from naked Tara thoughts as possible, like opposite side of the world far away.” Willow replied in a hurried voice as Sam just sat there giggling away.

“Wow, now your cheeks match your hair.” Sam smiled as Willow’s blush grew another shade of red altogether.

“I’ll get you for this missy, mark my words.” Willow replied though gritted teeth, an evil smile spreading across her face. Sam just glared back with a “Bring it on” look as the two continued their meal.

… … … …

“So how have you and Alex settled into Will’s old place?” Tara asked with a smile as she boiled the kettle for herself and Hayley. Willow and Sam had gone shopping for the party; Claire & Alex were still currently at work.

“It’s great, it’s a pretty big place, not as big as this so I mean I can obviously see why Willow would move here, but still she couldn’t have been to disappointed about living there.” Hayley replied, politely sitting with her hands folded neatly on the kitchen table.

“Yeah I did kinda like spending the night there, though for some reason Willow always seemed to want to stay at my old place. Though I’m glad we got a new place, I love the view we have here.” Tara smiled as she nodded towards the balcony as the sky slowly turned from daylight to evening.

“Yeah it’s so beautiful, you guys are so lucky to be able to afford a place like this.” Hayley replied as she too glared out the window

“Yeah we are.” Tara continued in a dreamy tone as she thought about her love.

“So, looking forward to your big party tonight?” Hayley offered, breaking a small silence that ensued after Tara’s last words.

“I’m kinda nervous, I mean we’re getting to know all our neighbours, I’m not quite sure how they’re gonna react to having a lesbian couple in their building.” Tara replied, her nervousness was well presented in her tone.

“Well it’s your building as well now, so don’t let that get you down, besides, you and Willow went and asked them all personally to come and they all agreed.” Hayley smiled a reassuring smile to her friend.

“Well all of them except that grumpy Mr. Jones downstairs.” Tara replied as she recalled the hostile reception that she and Willow had received when they knocked on his door. They didn’t think it was because of their sexuality, they just thought he would probably be a mean old man to everyone. From talks to a few other people in the building, they were right.

“Yeah well that’s just because he’s a big old meanie, nothing to do with your character." Hayley responded, reassuring Tara once again.

“You know, I just think he’s misunderstood, I reckon I could get through to him.” Tara wondered out aloud, almost challenging herself to the task.

“I’m sure if anyone can, it’d be you.” Hayley beamed, Tara smiled back, and it seemed like something Willow would have said. At the thought of her girlfriend, the door opened and in walked Sam and Willow with various supplies for the party tonight.

“Hey baby.” Willow smiled, she leant in and planted a kiss on Tara’s lips as she carefully balanced a grocery bag in each of her arms.

“Hey sweetie, have fun shopping?” Tara asked after their brief embrace, taking one of the bags to lighten the load on her girl.

“It’s not the same without you baby, you know I cant go lingerie shopping with Claire.” Willow smiled, the eyebrows perked on both Hayley and Sam at the mention of this as Tara just grew a shade redder. She playfully clipped Willow across the shoulder before putting her bag down.

“So, did ya buy me anything?” Tara asked in her best little kids voice.

“Of course.” Willow smiled and pulled out a six pack of beer.

“Miss Rosenberg I’m shocked, you wouldn’t be trying to get me intoxicated so you can have your way with me would you?” Tara gasped in mock shock.

“I have to get you intoxicated now?” Willow perked an eyebrow at the blonde before pulling her into a passionate embrace. Their tongues entwined in a fiery encounter, the sound of someone gagging themselves brought them out of their embrace.

“Would you two get a room already.” Sam stated, her hand placed firmly around her neck. Hayley just giggled at the interruption and the look Willow and Tara shared on their faces.

“I do believe this is our place.” Willow stated, a little more harshly than she intended; though no one had the right to interrupt Tara smoochies.

“Hush darling, she said lets get a room, so lets.” Tara calmly stated as she led Willow through to their room. Willow was as shocked as the other two ladies though one thing was certain, she sure as hell wasn’t complaining. The two girls walked into the room, Sam made an effort to follow them but had the door slammed in her face.

“Well… now that was rude.” Sam stated, clearly not expecting the blonde to do that. Hayley was caught between trying to laugh her head off, or weather to be as shocked as her friend apparently was.

“They aren’t really gonna have sex while we wait out there are they?” Sam questioned Hayley as if the other brunette girl knew the answers to everything. Hayley just shrugged her shoulders because she really didn’t know.

“Okay guys, this isn’t funny, we have guest arriving in like twenty minutes and there’s like nothing prepared out here.” Sam tried to coerce the girls out, still nothing though. Suddenly Sam got a smile on her face, “You know if you two were gonna pretend to have sex, you could’ve at least made the groaning noises and all.” Sam turned the doorknob and entered the room.

“OH MY GOD! I am so sorry.” Sam backed out of the room with her hands covering her eyes, Willow and Tara followed hair a bit dishelved and both doing up their blouses. Both of them were laughing at Sam, as was Hayley from her spot at the table.

“That’s what you get for being all Miss disrupty, first with the smoochies, then the pretend loving.” Willow smiled at her friend.

“What do you mean pretend, you were both topless and sucking face?” Sam replied, still obviously in shock.

“What, you really think twenty minutes is enough time?” Tara huffed, Willow smiled and Sam couldn’t argue with that. Hayley though was looking a little left out.

“Twenty minutes is plenty of time.” She stated feebly.

“Oh, oh of course it would’ve been long enough but…” Tara was having real trouble finishing that sentence as she struggled to make her friend feel better. Willow and Sam sat through the uncomfortable silence with false looks of support spread across their faces. Much to their surprise, Hayley cracked up laughing once more.

“You three are so easy.” She managed to get out between laughs.

“What, I don’t understand.” Sam was totally at a loss once more, Willow wasn’t far behind but Tara had a sly grin across her face as she worked the brunette out.

“Alex may be a guy, doesn’t mean he can’t get the job done.” Hayley grinned across the table, having the time of her life.

… … … …

The party was in full swing, Alex and Claire had arrived a little later after the nocked off from their shifts. Willow and Tara were happily mingling with their new neighbours, Alex and Hayley and Sam and Claire were doing likewise, telling cute and embarrassing stories of Willow and Tara’s time together.

Willow and Tara were particularly happy that them being together didn’t seem to be a problem to anyone in the room. They were openly displaying signs of affection, though their love was hard to hide at the best of times. A rather sharp knock at the door interrupted the festivities of the night. Tara walked over, with Willow linked closely behind, to investigate. They knew everyone who was invited was there so they weren’t quite sure what to expect.

“Mr. Jones!” Tara exclaimed as she opened the door, the older man made his way inside without being offered and shuffled around to various different people. He had a mean look upon his face and he snarled at several people who looked at him the wrong way.

“Can we help you?” Tara asked as politely as possible to the older man.

“As a matter of fact, yes.” The older man replied, walking up so he was face to face with the blonde, trying to intimidate her. Tara just smiled back at him, totally not letting his intimidating behaviour effect her.

“And how would that be?” She asked politely once more.

“Stop this party, your room is right above mine and the sound is disturbing.” He grumbled getting right up in her face Tara refused to flinch, still smiling she replied back to him.

“How about we turn it down a bit.” Trying to compromise with their neighbour.

“How about you shut it all down and go back to your own places before I call the super down here.” His arms flayed in the air as he made his threat. Tara couldn’t help but giggle at him.

“What are you laughing at young lady?” Mr Jones asked, getting more and more upset that he wasn’t having any effect on the young lady whatsoever.

“If you want to talk to Mr. Stevens, he’s right over there.” Tara pointed out the building super-intendant that was busy talking to Sam and Claire, trying to get something he had no hope in hell of getting.

“Mr Jones, why don’t you just go back you your pad and continue to wallow in your own self-pity.” Wanda a large African American woman made more of a statement than a question to the older man. A brief round of laughter from the guests had Mr Jones in a huff. He glared at the girls and stormed out of the room.

“You know I ought to call the police about this.” He said over his shoulder as he made his way to the elevator. Tara couldn’t help but feel a little sad for the older man, she ran out into the hallway after him.

“Mr Jones.” She called out, the older man stopped and turned around and noticed Tara had followed him back towards the elevator.

“What do you want?” He asked, miffed that she wouldn’t even let him return to his room in peace.

“I want you to come back to the party and have a good time. Willow and I would really like to get to know you.” She spoke to him in a tone he hadn’t heard for a long time, he actually felt genuine honesty pouring out of the good soul. He softened for a moment before turning around and heading back to the elevator.

“Bah, I’d be bored out of my mind, no one would talk to me, not that I’d want to talk to a bunch of halfwits anyway.” He stated as he pressed the button to go down. Tara could sense the loneliness in the old man as he awaited his ride.

“I’d talk to you.” She stated with the same genuine honesty that she’d used before. The doors opened and he contemplated getting in, suddenly the redhead came up behind Tara and hugged her from behind.

“Everything okay out here?” Willow asked with a smile, pecking Tara on the check as she watched the old man.

“Fine.’ He stated before walking into the lift. Tara couldn’t help but feel a little sorry for him. She could just tell all he wanted was someone to pay attention to him, give him five minutes of their time. It was how she envisioned her life would be until she met Willow.

“Come on.” Tara stated as she grabbed Willow’s hand and bolted to the stairs.

“Where are we going?” Asked a dumbfounded Willow as she struggled to keep up with the blonde.

“Downstairs.” Tara replied simply, dragging Willow along behind her.

“You do realise we still have a party going on?” Willow wanted to make sure that point was obvious.

“Were not going far.” Tara reaffirmed as they stopped at the floor below theirs.

… … … …

Tara knocked at the door to Mr Jones’ apartment, holding Willow behind her as she was determined not to give up.

“Tar, I know you’re just trying to be friendly, but we really have a party going on and its not really friendly to just leave them there to fend for themselves. I mean basically we have Sam and Alex holding up the fort, we’ll be lucky if the place is still standing when we get back.” Willow tried to reason with her girlfriend, quite frankly Mr. Jones scared her, she wasn’t quite sure what Tara saw in him, though she knew if Tara saw it, it was there.

“I’m willing to take that chance.” Tara smiled back to her lover as she went to knock on the door once more. As she did though, the door opened and Mr. Jones stood in the doorway.

“What do you two want?” Mr. Jones scolded them as they stared back at him.

“We ah… wanted to talk to you.” The blonde answered, suddenly not so sure of herself.

“About what?” The older man asked cautiously as he continued to stare down the two girls.

“Nothing in general, we just wanted to chat.” Tara suddenly perked right up, Willow offered a smile as she stood by her girl.

“Go away, don’t you have a party to attend to or something.” He began to close the door and turn away. He was surprised when Tara stopped the door from closing then let herself in.

“You’re not going to rob me are you, because if you are, be warned, I may be frail but I could still kick your ass.” He got into a fighting stance, Tara couldn’t help but smile and giggle, Willow too was holding back the laughter from flowing after seeing the old man take up a fighting stance.

“I wouldn’t doubt that you could, we’re not here to rob you Mr. Jones, we just wanna talk.” Tara replied, controlling her giggling long enough to make a tangible sentence.

“Fine, fine come in, at least let me get you something to drink.” He gave up and walked into the kitchen area as the girls made themselves comfortable on the sofa. He fetched a glass of water for them each and brought it back to them. He handed it to them and took his place in his favourite armchair across from them.

“I’ll have you know I don’t do this very often, it’s just you remind me of my daughter.” Mr Jones actually smiled to Tara.

“She must be very beautiful then.” Willow stated, getting a blush out of Tara and the older man could see they were very much in love.

“I have a picture of her here.” Mr Jones pulled out his wallet and flipped through a few until he came to a very lovely young blonde.

“That’s her, that’s Shelley.” He smiled once more at his daughter’s name; both girls thought it a sweet smile and couldn’t believe be didn’t share it with them more often.

“Takes after her mother, god rest her soul. She’s always offering to come up here and look after me, but she has her own family to take care of now. She’s such a sweet person, I wondered what went wrong with our son.” He turned to a picture of his son in his wallet.

“Oh my god, that’s the pest control guy!” Willow exclaimed, and sure enough in the picture was the guy who fumigated her old room at an extremely overcharged price, complete with his termite cap and all.

“Yeah that’s Allan, he took over the family business and turned it into the shamble it is today. Always putting himself before the customer, gave our family a bad name, not that he cares of course.” Mr Jones’ voice trailed off into one of despair desperately disappointed that his own son had betrayed him.

“I’m Sorry to hear that.” Both girls shared their condolences with the old man.

“Ah it’s not your fault, I shouldn’t take it out on you.” He replied, waving his hand as if to brush it aside.

“So how long have you been living here?” Tara asked, breaking a small silence that had ensued.

“Two years, ever since Vicki passed away. Say you two are together right I mean that’s what some of the girls are doing these days right?” Mr Jones directed the question at both the girls.

“Yeah, unfortunately only some.” Willow smiled before getting a glare from Tara. “Though you know I only have eyes for you baby.” Willow quickly followed, Tara couldn’t resist when Willow called her baby and was soon smitten by the redhead once more. Mr Jones just smiled at the loving interaction between the girls, reminded him of his time he spent with Vicki when they were young.

“I see what you two have got, I can only say hang on to it, the single greatest feeling in life is knowing someone loves you as much as you love them.” Mr Jones parted some of his advice. Willow and Tara just merely smiled, looking at one another.

“I’m pretty sure I know what that feels like.” Tara replied, not moving her eyes of Willow.

“Yeah me too.” Willow responded, also not taking her eyes of the blonde, Mr Jones felt like an intruder in his own home, watching such a touching display of emotion between the two girls.

“You know Mr Jones, you’re not a bad person at all.” Willow stated, moving her attention with great difficulty to the older man, not wanting to make him to uncomfortable in his own home.

“Yeah well I must say, you two are the nicest neighbours I’ve had in a while, I mean I’m thankful you took the time to come and talk to me instead of shunting me off like everyone else does.” The older man’s grouchy mood that he carried around with him earlier had now dissipated and wore a completely happy smile; one he hadn’t wore for quite some time.

“So are we.” Tara smiled; squeezing holding Willow’s hand as the redhead gave a little squeeze to signify that she too was glad they came down here.

… … … …

Willow and Tara stepped onto the elevator as they were on the way to meet their friend’s at Claire and Sam’s place. Wanda greeted them on the elevator who was on her way down also.

“Some party last night huh?” The large woman smiled and both Willow and Tara nodded in agreement, their hangovers prevented them from saying to much. Suddenly the elevator stopped on the very next floor down, Mr Jones stepped into the elevator and waited for the doors to close shut.

“You girls look a little worse for wear.” He smiled at Willow and Tara.

“Yeah I think we had an incey, wincey bit too much to drink.” Tara managed to get out with a smile, bringing her thumb and forefinger close together to show just how much was too much.

“Ah one day you’ll realise there are better things to life than drinking all night and waking up the next morning with a killer hang over, like drinking al night and not waking up with a killer hangover. He smiled and waved his goodbye as they parted ways once the elevator came to a stop on the ground floor. Wanda just stared in disbelief at the interaction she just witnessed between the three other people. Was that actually the same Mr Jones that came in and threatened to call the police to bring an end to their party?

“Damn those girls are good.” Wanda just said to herself as she finally got of the elevator before someone sent her back up. Willow and Tara just looked over their shoulders and giggled at the sight of Wanda just staring after them.

“What happened to little Miss Angel that loves everybody?” Willow perked her eyebrow at Tara as the blonde laughed at the other woman still standing in the lobby.

“We’ll she was a meanie and well Little Miss Angel got ravished and turned into little Miss Evil Vixen last night I do believe.” Tara grinned and started tickling Willow, both girls momentarily forgetting about their hangovers, though that wouldn’t last. After a few playful minutes, they took hold of each other’s hands and set of towards Claire and Sam’s place. A cab driving past tooted its horn and both girls waved as Mr Jones drove by, waving back at them.

TBC…

Hoped you all liked it, a little fun part before well... another little fun part :)

Its typical of Tara's caring nature that she'd feel sorry for and want to help Mr Jones. She's so sweet!

Oh, Dr. Nath I just loved the update.

The teasing and the pretend ravaging :grin Wicked good!

Tara, that tender soul, just touched me by abandoning the party to comfort Mr. Jones. Wonderful touch.

Excellent update Nath!! ;) Tara and Will seem to have some pretty cool neighbors. I knew Mr. Jones' hard-assed exterior was just a front, cuz he's really a nice guy, just lonely...that was really nice of Tara to make the extra effort with him. As always I'm looking forward to more ;)

:rollin :lol Oh my god, you really made a second appearance for the pest control guy!

You know just with this little scene you made me completely good mood-y and happy the whole day! :)

I don’t know, I just think this guy is funny, although he seems to be not that nice. :( Who cares, I just wanted him to have a second appearance which you generously allowed him to have. Nath, thanks so much for this :) I almost fell off my chair when I read that.

But of course I loved the parts around that little scene too! ;)

Somehow I imagine Mr. Jones is like the old guy in ‘All the way’ I think his name was Kaltenbach. Anyway, I really feel for Mr. Jones, he is lonely and I loved Tara for being so nice to him, I think probably he has to suffer a lot of pain. :(

Thanks for al the updates so far! :) Loved them! :grin

Title – All You Wanted

Author – Nathan

E-mailnathspazz@yahoo.com.au

Part 20 The Day You Went Away (Wendy Matthews)

Willow, Tara and Sam were giggling like schoolgirls as they sat in Tara’s office at work. They were discussing the movie they’d seen the night before, when a tap at Tara’s door captured their attention.

“Come in.” Tara yelled from her desk, neither Sam nor Willow made any attempt to move from their spot on the desk next to Tara. A young freckly redhead man poked his head through the door.

“Rosenberg, Pickering, Linda wants you in her office ASAP” He smiled kindly at them.

“What about me?” Tara asked the young office worker.

“And you would be?” He asked, not sure who Tara was exactly.

“Look on the door nitwit.” Tara stated, frustrated at the fact he didn’t even know who she was and yet was standing in her office.

“Oh sorry Miss Maclay, I’m new here, please don’t fire me.” He quickly turned and bolted; Tara couldn’t help but giggle.

“I can’t actually fire him can I?” Tara asked, pretty sure but wanting to make sure.

“No, but its nice to think that he thinks you can.” Sam smirked at her playfully; she’d love that sort of power.

“Come on, let’s go see what Linda wants.” Willow said through a smile as she dragged Sam out of the office, Tara giggled before putting her head back to her desk and the papers in front of her.

… … … …

Linda heard the knock on her door and looked up from her desk to see Willow and Sam standing in her doorway.

“You wanted to see us.” Willow smiled and held out her arms, presenting herself and Sam to Linda.

“And here you are I see.” Linda smiled and motioned for them to come in. They did so and Willow closed the door behind them.

“So what’s up?” Sam asked, plonking her butt next to Linda on the desk, the older woman couldn’t help but smile and shake her head at the brunette and or carefree nature.

“Yeah, why’d ya drag us in here?” Willow followed up, leaning on the desk supporting her head with both hands as she stood across from Linda.

“Business trip, you two, two weeks in Florida, leave in a couple of days.” Linda smiled, reaching into her desk drawer to pull out some papers with the details.

“What’s the go, what are we doing there?” Sam asked directly, trying to get straight to the point.

“Well the company has some potential clients over there, woo them or whatever it is you two do, you’ve done it all before.” Linda gave a wave of her hand as she explained it simply, Sam couldn’t help but smile as she remembered some of the previous trips she and Willow had taken in luring potential clients, needless to say after a weekend, let alone two weeks they’d signed up many a client. Through after a brief moment of Joy, Sam caught a glimpse of Willow and the look on her face brought her back to earth very suddenly.

“Linda, why don’t you send Willow and Tara?” Sam offered, giving up her spot, besides it came at a time where she could spend some time with Claire, it was kinda important to both couples.

“What’s the big deal, its two weeks, the company really needs this client and you two are the best.” Linda didn’t even bother to look up from her workstation, busily typing away at her computer.

“It’s not that so much, it’s the timing, we both have our, you know, one year anniversaries coming up and it would be you know, nice to be able to spend them with our significant others.” Sam made the point; Willow put on a hopeful smile, trying to woo Linda into letting Tara go. Linda looked at both women and she wasn’t a monster, but still it wasn’t her decision, if it were up to her, she’d let ‘em go in a second.

“I tell ya what, I’ll have a talk with the higher ups and see if I can’t get Sam swapped for Tara.” She smiled at the two girls before her. Willow and Sam dutifully thanked her for the effort and made their way back to their working area.

“I’m sorry Sam, it’s just I really wanted to spend my anniversary with Tara, it’s not that I wouldn’t love to go with you.” Willow stated, feeling a little guilty towards her friend.

“It’s okay really, mine’s the same day remember and well I would like to spend it with Claire as well, kinda significant for me having never done a one year anniversary before.

“It’s just, well if Claire worked here, I’d offer to let the two of you go, I know how much you love these business trips.

“Yeah well, just make sure you buy me lots of souvenirs.” Sam smiled, playfully swatting Willow across the shoulder as they reached the door to Tara’s office. They knocked and made their way inside, Willow planting a quick peck on Tara’s lips.

“So, what did Linda want?” Tara asked happily as she smiled up at the redhead.

“Seems she wants Sam and myself to do a little wooing of clients for two weeks in Florida.” Willow stated, Tara registered the anniversary right away.

“When, did she say?” Tara asked out of concern.

“A couple of days.” Willow said meekly not wanting to upset her girlfriend.

“What, no Willow! What about our anniversary?” Tara was more than a little upset; this was something she’d been planning for, for quite some time.

“Look okay, we talked it over with Linda, she’s gonna try and get you and Sam swapped around so we can still be together.” Willow tried to calm the blonde down.

“No this is important to me, to us, I don’t want you to go.” Tara was flustered; things weren’t registering quickly enough in her brain.

“Tara be reasonable, we’ll still be together.” Willow pleaded, hoping Tara would see some sense.

“Sam can I talk to you outside for a sec?” Tara motioned, dragging the brunette behind her; Willow just stood dumbfounded as she watched her girlfriend drag her best friend out the office.

Once they were outside the office Tara let go of Sam and almost started berating her in a hushed tone so Willow couldn’t hear if she happened to have her ear up against the door, and if Tara knew her girl well enough, she would have.

“Sam you know I’ve been planning this night for like two months.” Tara couldn’t believe everything was falling to pieces around her in regards to a special night she’d dreamt about for a little longer than those two months.

“I know, can’t you just do it all over there.” Sam tried to reason with the blonde, Tara had made quite clear what her plans were for that evening with Sam, getting the brunette’s seal of approval.

“I don’t know anything about Florida, god we could be in Miami, Orlando or Tampa, it doesn’t really give me enough time to rearrange everything, plus I’d have to cancel everything here. Stuff that’s not cheap and very hard to book.” She stressed her point; Sam had never seen the blonde this freaked before.

“I know, but apparently these are some pretty big clients they need wooed, Willow’s one of the best, if not the best. Think of it as a holiday for your anniversary.” Sam continued to try and shed light onto the situation. Tara gave up and stormed back into her office, throwing up her hands in frustration. Sam stood there, not feeling angry with the blonde for the way she was acting, but sorry for her. She knew how much time and effort Tara had put into planning this night and the way Tara had described it to her, it sounded so much like the perfect evening. She eventually followed the blonde back into the office and saw her pacing back and forth.

“Tara calm down sweetie.” Willow urged in a very worried tone, watching her girlfriend pace back and forth like that was filling her with all sorts of pangs.

“I can’t okay, I just can’t.” Tara stated, on the verge of an emotional boil-over. Willow got up from her spot on the desk and stood directly in Tara’s path. When the blonde approached her, she simply pulled the blonde into her arms and cradled her. Tara let flow a stream of tears that had been building up and buried her head into the redhead’s shoulder.

“Hey baby, it’ll be alright.” Willow’s soothing voice was music to Tara’s ears.

“I put so much planning and effort into our night together, it was going to be perfect.” Tara sobbed, sniffling as Willow caressed her fingers through Tara’s golden locks.

“I know it would’ve been, but you know, as long as we’re together I think it’ll be perfect anyway, don’t ya think?” Willow continued to sooth into her ear, swaying slightly to calm the blonde down.

“Mm, I guess so.” Tara sniffled, slowly regaining her grasp on reality.

“Just think, the two of us, walking hand in hand along the beach as the sun sets, a cool gentle breeze blowing through our hair.” Willow smiled as she visually pictured the scene she was saying to her girlfriend, she could feel Tara settle some more.

“That does sound nice.” Tara stated regaining a bit more of her composure. Sam had witnessed all of this and smiled happily that it had been worked out. Feeling like she shouldn’t be there, like she was intruding on their space, she decided to take her leave. As she turned to leave though, she walked straight into Linda who was on her way to talk to the girls. She called Sam back into the office and made her sit down. Tara and Willow slowly untangled themselves from each other as the got themselves comfortable to listen to what Linda had to say.

“Okay, I’ve just got out of a quick meeting with the powers that be, I tried to run your case through them but they wouldn’t have anything of it. They explicitly asked for Willow and Sam saying this was far to important to be handed to someone who hasn’t done this sort of thing before. I’m sorry Tara.” Sam briefly looked at Tara after hearing Linda’s words before directing her eyes back to the floor in front of her. It also meant that she’d have to be apart from Claire for their anniversary, a fact she was sure wouldn’t sit well with her girlfriend.

Tara was shattered and rightly so was Willow. Two weeks apart would be hell enough for the two of them, but directly through their anniversary would be sure to leave a mark on their mental health combining with their inevitable sexual frustration. Willow and Sam were expecting more carrying on from Tara like she had before, instead the blonde just sat silently stunned, not quite comprehending the facts just given her.

“Tara, sweetie, are you okay?” Willow asked, worried about the catatonic look on her love’s face.

“Yeah, yeah I’m just gonna go.” Tara stated blankly, picking up a few things and making her way for the door.

“Where too?” Willow asked calmly, trying to keep herself composed.

“Home.” The blonde replied simply, she walked past Linda and looked at her for a moment, the older woman brought her hand to the blonde’s shoulder, giving her, her blessing as the blonde walked out the door.

“You’re just gonna let her go?” Sam asked a bit confused as she watched Tara make her way to the exit.

“She went home sick, I don’t think I hear anyone objecting.” Linda stated before turning around, feeling regrettably sorry for having to break up a couple of her best employees on a day that was obviously important to them. But more than employees, they were people she considered friends and would try her darnedest to work something out with the higher ups in the company.

… … … …

Willow turned the key to the apartment and slowly made her way inside, calling out Tara’s name as she entered. She got no response but saw the blonde cuddled up on the couch with a pillow and some ice cream, watching “Sleepless in Seattle.”

“Hey, how you doing?” Willow asked in a soft, sympathetic tone as he walked over and snuggled up with her girlfriend.

“Been better.” Tara stated, not taking her eyes of the movie but not avoiding the snuggling as Willow pulled her in closer, in fact she leant her head on the redhead’s shoulder.

“Well nobody’s expecting you to jump for joy at the moment.” Willow stated, running her fingers through the fine blonde hair.

“It’s just… I mean how do you feel about it all?” Tara asked the redhead, wanting to hear how she felt about it all.

“I’m upset, I mean I’ve been looking forward to this as much as you. I mean obviously you’ve been doing all the planning and hard work, but I’m really upset that I won’t get to see that. Tar I don’t want to be away from you for a day let alone fourteen of them.” Willow replied, still stroking Tara’s hair and looking at her with deep searching eyes.

“Really?” Tara turned her gaze straight into Willow’s emerald pools and gazed deep into the redhead’s soul.

“Really, I wish that I could pack you in my luggage and sneak you away with me, not that I want too stuff you away so people can’t see you, it’s just that we’re supposed to be sneaky about it and I’m just trying to be sneaky.” Willow’s babble was cut off by Tara’s lips softly brushing up against hers for the slightest of moments.

“You were saying?” Tara smiled up at the redhead. Willow just looked at the redhead with complete love and adoration, completely lost for words when she usually can’t say them fast enough.

“Klaflofful.” Was about all Willow could manage to say, Tara let a small giggle escape her mouth before she brought her lips back down to the redhead’s, loosing herself in the embrace.

Tara suddenly got up and moved away from the redhead, leaving Willow gasping and wondering what was going on.

“What, where are you going?” Willow asked with a touch of desperation in her voice.

“To bed silly.” Tara grinned and walked to the bedroom, Willow quickly jumped to her feet and rushed after the blonde, closing the door behind her as she entered.

… … … …

Tara arrived at work the following day with a very satisfied grin plastered across her face. A night of sensual lovemaking could do wonders for your temperament as she hummed next to Willow in the elevator on the way up. Willow was happy to see her love in high spirits after the rollercoaster that was the previous day. Willow watched her go into her office as she made her way to her own cubicle, turning on her computer to actually do some work for the day. As was usual Sam stopped by, grasping a cup of coffee like a life support machine for her usual morning chat.

Tara made sure Willow was busy with Sam and quickly ducked out of her office, she tapped on Linda’s door and waited impatiently for admittance. After being let in she took a seat across from Linda as the two sat in a moment of awkward silence.

“So feeling a bit better today?” Linda asked in a sympathetic tone, breaking the silence that had encased them.

“Yeah, I mean I understand it all, I’m still a little upset but I realise there’s not a lot Willow or I can do about it.” Tara replied Linda was glad that Tara seemed to be accepting this and was pretty amazed at the turn around from the previous day.

“So what brings you in here then?” Linda asked cheerily, hoping she could help the blonde out.

“I realise that Willow or myself can’t do much, but Linda your opinion is held in the highest regard, even by the people above us. I’ve talked to Patrick and Michelle a few times and they both hold you in the highest regard.” Tara pleaded her case.

“So what exactly do you want me to tell them?” Linda quizzed the young blonde.

“Talk them into letting me go, get someone else to go instead of Willow. Please this really means a lot to me.” Tara begged her desperation evident in her tone of voice.

“Tara it’s like this, they’ve asked for Willow and Sam, if Willow and Sam go and we don’t get the contract, they ask them why they didn’t get it and if there’s a suitable reason, they don’t have anyone to blame but themselves. If I change it around and we don’t get the contract, guess whose head goes on the chopping block?” Linda stated, trying to make clear the position she’d be putting herself in if she went out on a limb for the blonde.

“I understand that, if you send me I promise I won’t let you down.” Tara pleaded, meaning every word she uttered out of her mouth.

“I believe you when you say that you wont let me down, but the bottom line is Tara, they may not want this company anyway, regardless of the job you do wooing them, they still say no, its still my head on the chopping block. Besides Tara, there’s a certain skill involved with figuring out how to woo clients. I’d be pretty unfair of me to throw you to the lions with a deal we absolutely need, you should start on the lesser cases.” Linda exclaimed, making her point to Tara, the blonde bowed her head in defeat.

“Tara, I like you and I’ll do everything I can to get the arrangements changed, that is if you want me too.” Linda offered the blonde as she sat back in her chair and awaited the blonde’s response.

“It’s okay, I couldn’t make you risk your job for that, but thanks anyway.” Tara replied dejectedly, getting up and slowly making her way out of the room. Linda sighed and lowered her head onto the table, it was situations like these where she regretted getting involved personally with her staff.

… … … …

For an early spring morning, it sue was raining a lot, the droplets splattering against the roof of the airport as the sound of bucketing rain filled Willow and Tara’s ears. They stood in the waiting area for the last call for Willow’s flight. They had their arms wrapped around one another and their foreheads leaning against each other. Both wore expressionless faces as they just soaked up their remaining time together.

Claire and Sam were in a similar situation, though instead of being all sombre, they were passionately making out, neither wanting to loose the other’s lips. Finally the last call for the flight to Florida was called over the loud speaker, causing the girls to part from each other.

“Argh, I am so gonna miss you, remember no boys or girls at the apartment whilst I’m gone.” Sam teased, pecking Claire on the lips once more.

“How about men and women?” Claire teased, not wanting to relinquish her hold on the older woman.

“Them neither.” Sam replied, giving Claire one last kiss before eventually pulling apart.

“I’ll call you on our anniversary, talk all night.” Sam promised as she walked over to Willow and Tara and put her hand on Willow’s shoulder.

“Come on Will, before we miss our flight.” Sam’s tone changed to match the feeling shared between the blonde and the redhead.

“You gonna be okay sweetie?” Willow asked softly, Tara just covered her mouth with her hand and nodded, a few tears already trickling down her face.

“I’ll ring you every night.” Willow promised as Sam led her towards the gate, Willow never took her eyes of the blonde as she blew her a kiss. She saw Claire go over and comfort Tara as best she could. Tara fell into the younger girl’s embrace as she watched Willow board the plane.

… … … …

The plane was crowded but fortunately they were able to get tickets in business class, at least Willow didn’t have to worried about being looked after whilst she was away, not that she wouldn’t trade it all to be looked after the way Tara did it.

“Hey cheer up, it’ll be just like old times.” Sam tried to offer the redhead some condolence. Willow offered a feeble half smile but nothing convincing.

“I just wish Tara and I had handled things as well as you and Claire did.” Willow stated something she’d thought about when she saw the two furiously making out in the airport.

“Really, I wish Claire and I handled it like you and Tara did. I think it’s a credit to you guys that after all this time you can’t bare to be apart from each other.” Sam stated a touch of envy about her tone.

“You won’t miss Claire while you’re gone?” Willow queried, rather confused at the brunette’s statement.

“Terribly, I just think that we’re different enough that the time apart won’t kill us. Though I do kinda feel bad that Tara wont get to do what she planned, believe me it would’ve rocked your socks off.” Sam smirked, knowing she had piqued the redhead’s full attention.

“What, what was she going to do?” Willow pleaded, desperate to know of the wonderful evening her love had planned.

“That’s for Tara to say, you’ll have to get her to tell ya.” Sam smirked, loving the fact she’d just left her best friend hanging as they prepared for the plane to take off.

… … … …

Tara watched out the window as the plane started taxing on the runway. Claire had an arm draped across her shoulder, pulling her in close. Tara leant her head on the brunette’s shoulder as the plane readied for take-off, not taking her eyes of the jet.

“You know we should totally hit the town tonight and get completely wasted.” Claire stated, she didn’t take her eyes of the taxing jet either.

“You’re underage sweetie.” Tara calmly stated as Claire let out a slight giggled.

“When I said hit the town, I really meant crash at your place after you buy a case of beer.” Tara couldn’t help but giggle and wonder how she ever misconstrued the meanings around.

“That’s be nice, I mean neither of us are used to spending the night alone so it might be good to have a sleep-over.” Tara smiled as she watched the plane, now ready for take-off.

“A sleepover with lots of booze and plenty of sappy movies to cure what ails ya.” Claire replied as she felt Tara’s arm circle her waist as they both watched the plane take-off, leaving Terra Firma for the great grey sky. They watched in silence until the plane was out of sight, the reality that their loved ones were gone for two weeks setting in once more.

TBC…

Next part will be some good ole bonding between friends and you may even learn what sort of night Tara had planned for Willow, that of course is if i dont be a big ole' meanie :p

Well the title did give the story away a bit :) . I wonder how the company/Linda expects Willow to woo customers if she's depressed, doubt that would work.

Besides, why didn't Tara get a ticket and fly with Willow herself ? That seems to be the obvious solution to at least the being-apart problem (nothing will fix the evening Tara planned unless Willow *is* in town at that date, hmm....interesting thought there).

Sam having mopey Willow around for two weeks, that will be fun :( . I just hope Tara can reschedule that evening she had planned, somehow, somewhere :pray . Willow could have flat-out refused to go of course. That would likely be bad for her career, but would she have much trouble getting another job ?

This part is more cliff-hanger-on-like then previous ones, kinda like that.
