Thanks for the compliment, Drakkenfyre. I can always count on you to respond to my poems. But, you best not dis your poetry 'cause your latest poem was awesome!

By the way - That poor guy you used in your message, Benny, just took his boyfriend out for a romantic dinner at a Mexican restaraunt. Unfortunately, his boyfriend told him he was leaving him for a dancer, left Benny to pay the bill, AND Benny got food poisoning from a bean burrito! No wonder he looks so unhappy.

Hey!! Sorry I haven't been to you thread for a while (just finished exams :) ) Anyway have just caught up with your last 3 poems:-

1. Poem about 'spells'- I thought this was a simple. very powerful poem. Great words.

2. Beautiful poem. All the lines are wonderful, I can't pick my favourite.

3. Tara after OMWF- I thought this poem was wonderful, you captured Tara's feelings extremely well. I especially liked the lines 'You are consumed by your darkness, and, in it, have led me to mine'- Wow!

Keep up the great work!!

Lucy Moore, thanks so much!

Well, this is actually a poem I had already written but I rediscovered it recently as I was going through old disks and such. I thought It might apply to how Tara felt as she and Willow's relationship was falling apart.

a lot of people could love you like this, but I do.

and you just can’t see

that next time might be too much for me.

I know every word you say.

you open your mouth and rose petals spill out.

I keep trying to read you but the pages go by too fast.

all I know is that you’re complicated.

and I’m trying to guess what will burn down next,

but my eyes always seem to see the wrong thing at the wrong time.

So, I run around putting out fires,

never knowing how they start.

I keep wishing you would look at me long enough to see the lines on my face

that mean so much more than you’ll ever know

but you don’t slow down even long enough to say hello.

Seems like I’m always watching you go.

So turn of the light and let me rest tonight

because you’ll be there in every dream.

I close my eyes and say my piece

but the sleep never comes and our worlds never meet.

Hi ninjitsugrrl!

Yep, I'm most definately back around :) The exams went ok (I think!). As you have seen, I'm just getting back into the poetry writing mood!!

I loved your new poem. I agree it could apply to Tara's feelings around the time of her break up with Willow. The words were wonderful and seemed to capture so many emotions. The line that stood out to me was 'I keep trying to read you but the pages go by so fast'- Wow!

I look forward to your next poem :D

I'm away for a few days...ok, so it was a bit longer than that, but who's counting :) and you've all posted so many amazing poems. I now feel the guilt catching up with me..I will post new ones soon - I had the whole impending exam death etc excuse ;)

I loved your latest two poems! Keep writing,

Good luck with the exams, they should be outlawed for taking up too much of the goodness that is time to write poetry.

This is a really effective portrayal of grief. The rest of the world still goes on as normal, but Willow's world has been forever changed.

Nice work.

Re: New Poem

Postby ninjitsugrrl » Sun Jun 30, 2002 8:28 am

Alright, so real life has been kinda crazy lately so I haven't been writing or stopping by the board much. But things seem to be settling down so here I am with a new poem:

sometimes I look inside

and I find myself undeserving

of a light so bright as the one you bring into my life.

sometimes I search within,

and I find myself incapable of standing up

against the love I see reflected in your eyes.

but, when I’m with you,

your breath intermingles so perfectly with mine.

I am awed by the way our bodies intertwine.

I find all doubt and indecision is lost.

you say you want me forever and I cannot doubt;

for your lips have never touched a lie.

I may not deserve you, but you are mine.

And I will work a lifetime

just to justify the love that I see in your eyes.

between the regions of kindness.." - Naomi Shihab Nye

Okay, that was just WOW!! A highly overused word, I know but it was that or back to the great jumpin leap frogs!! ;) I really must stop reading Mark Twain. I love this poem. I know about the real life thing. No worries. Again, WOW!! Awesome poem.

These are great! I love them!

Also, in your first couple of posts I noticed that you had an Ani Difranco quote. I LOVE her. If you still like her you should go to http://www.onherown.net and go to the message boards. There's a poetry board there and I think you should post some of your stuff since it's wonderful :) The people there are great too, I'll let you decide if I'm included in that statement lol ;)

By the way, I'm not trying to take you away from this board, I just realized that may have been how it seemed. I just think if you like Ani you'd like those boards too.

Take Care,

Kristen

VampireWillow - Glad you liked it. I will try to post poetry more often now that my life has settled down a bit.

Drakkenyfyre - You must not stop reading Mark Twain you silly goose. He is fabulous and hilarious! :) And thanks for the "wow!"

ULookSoPrecious - Thanks, always good to see someone new here! I will have to check out this Ani board. Maybe I'll see you there.

That's all for now. Big hugs and kisses to everyone who reads and responds to my poems!

Drakkenfyre - I rock? Well, yay me! Don't let your real life and your writer's block keep you away from us for too long! That would make me very cranky! ;) Well... as cranky as I ever get anyway. Seriously, I always love reading your poetry and getting your responses to my work. We must chat again soon!

TheWhiz - Thank you for your kind words and I'll forgive you for not being around so much lately since you said such wonderful things about my poem! Good to see you around again. :)

Thanks to everyone and hopefully I will post some more once I get my portfolio and my research paper done. Wish me luck!

a new poem

Postby ninjitsugrrl » Fri Jul 26, 2002 9:30 pm

Mollyig - Thanks for the good luck wish!

Thehighpriestess - Hey there! I did pretty darn well on my exams, if I may brag for a moment. Thanks for asking!

and now, on to my latest attempt at a poem:

you said you’d be here by 8.

so, my eyes are on the door.

lately, it seems like I’m always waiting,

watching for you,

wanting more.

you could ask me if I loved you,

and I would shout it to the world.

but, if you don’t,

I wouldn’t dare.

you said to me a long time ago

you’d always be mine,

you wanted me forever.

turned out that the distance between

forever and goodbye

was a very thin line.

all I want,

is forever back.

all I want,

is for now not to be.

all I want,

is you -

here with me.

We could begin this dance again,

and, this time,

my gaze would never leave your eyes,

my hand would linger an eternity on your skin.

I have seen my life without you,

and all I want is to try forever,

again.

And now onto the poem....

I loved it, it was beautiful. I love the last 3 lines:

'I have seen my life without you,

and all I want is to try forever,

again.'

Wow. :D
