poetry inspired by "Long Weekend"

Postby BabyJune » Mon Feb 24, 2003 11:46 pm

raspberryhat's wonderful fic has inspired me. i wrote this in about 10 minutes during my creative writing class. the form is rondeau, hence the weird rhyme scheme...

Paint her in unending lines, for beauty and for grace

In greens and blues

And melting yellow hues

With each hand in elementally balanced place

And the curve of her thigh leads your hand in its path

Dimensions forming an equation more perfect than math

The Romans themselves hide their statues in shame

As you paint her in unending lines

The air’s stagnant thick as the gods hold their breath

You’re only aware of the rise of her chest

The colors move freely in harmonic accord

But you bleach the canvas once more, you’ve time to afford

When she’s your only subject, forgotten is the rest

Paint her in unending lines
