Hello. I am not a poet. I am only a composer. Ya know, I compose orchestra pieces for fun. But I think I'd like to try poetry. So I'm gonna put some that I wrote. Feel free to give me feedback, positive or negative.

Poem #1: Road Less Traveled. By: _Salix_

I walk into the woods
Small knife in one hand
Flashlight in the other
Surrounded by trees
Every color, every size

I come across, on my journey
A fork in the road
Three paths; which way to go?
They always tell me
"Take the road less traveled"

One path is dark
The path was red, at one point
It is so trampled
You could hardly tell
Not that one

Another path is light
It used to be covered in flowers
They're all wilted; the bushes dead
As if someone had stepped on them
Not that one

The final path is average
The path never had color
But it seems to be covered
With foot and hoof prints
Not that one

There are no more paths
All are traveled the same
Where to go?
Not one of these roads
Is less traveled

I think and think
'Till my head aches
Which is the least traveled?
When suddenly
It dawns on me

I choose the dark path
Not because
It is less traveled
But because
It's where I want to go

END

Who loves it? You do! You loooooooooooove my little poem! I'm pretty proud of it. It's my first. I wrote it because I'm kinda sick of the hundreds of poems telling me to take the road less traveled. Don't get me wrong, they're great. I love 'em. Great message. But everybody is taking the road less traveled now. So there...isn't one. They're all kinda traveled the same amount.

I have a fish named Drusilla. He doesn't know, he thinks his name is Drew. Shhhh...

Spike: Are we feeling better, then?
Drusilla: I'm naming all the stars.
Spike: You can't see the stars, love. That's the ceiling. Also it's day.
Drusilla: I can see them. But I've named them all the same name, and there's terrible confusion.

A new poem! I like poetry, I like poetry! Dang, and I've been composing music all this time! So much time to make up! They're not really very good, I'll admit. But I like 'em! I'm gonna post this really quickly, since I've gotta practice for my basketball game. But this'll get up soon, I hope.

Warning: Has a hint of violence. But not huge. Maybe just PG-13 violence.

Poem #2: The Thirst. By: _Salix_

In a sunny desert
I walk along a small path
I've been in the desert for days
Not another living soul for miles
I thirst for water

I come across a lion
He jumps at me, attacks me
I pull out my knife; he runs into it
Blood splatters onto my shirt
I thirst for more blood

My knife in hand, I walk further
And find a small kitten
I put away my knife
The kitten thirsts for love,
I thirst for love.

The kitten walks beside me
When I come across a young child
All alone and hungry
She looks at me with fear in her eyes
She thirsts for comfort

We walk until we find a village
It has everything we need
It has a lake and a farm
Hundreds of people are there
Animals of every kind

The girl's face brightens up
"Momma!" she cries
I see her run up to a woman
They shared tears of love and happiness
Three small boys join the hug, crying and laughing

I see a well
I ask if I can have some water
They say yes
I drink and drink
Until I feel satisfied

A small lion is sitting in the corner
I immediately feel compassion for it
It has no mother, no father
I can't imagine killing anything that innocent
I promise never to kill anything again

One of the older children runs up to me
He wraps his arms around me "Momma!" he says
I hug him back, I recognize him
He's my son, I lost him two years ago
He loves me, and I love him

I see the young girl
She is with her mother,
Who is stroking her hair
Whispering sweet words in her ear
The girl is in the comfort of her mom's embrace

I should be happy
My thirst for water is gone
My thirst for blood is gone
My thirst for love is gone
Her thirst for comfort is gone

But now, I realize I miss my thirst for water
And my thirst for blood
And my thirst for love
Because where's the fun in life
When you have everything

END

I love it! You may not like it, but I love it! I think it's awesome! I...uh...this is embarrassing...I kinda feel like writing a...a love poem. *blush* cheesy, I know. But I haven't written one yet. What do you guys think? How did you like my fabulous poems?

Edit: Wow. I'm a 'Flaming O' now. Time sure does fly, doesn't it?

Aaaaand...more poetry. You know you want it...

WARNING: This is not one of my better ones. I'm warning you. You have been warned.

Poem #3: Hiding. By _Salix_

I am in public
Yet I am still hiding
Under my hat
Under my clothes

If you saw me at home
You wouldn't recognize me
With my long hair
And my high-pitched voice

"He" and "him," they call me
I am a man to them
But I cannot hide
I am not

Sometimes I don't like it
Sometimes I do
I can't be sure
Who I am, what I am

Some days I am a man
Some days I am a woman
Does it matter?
What's the difference?

I can't tell them
They wouldn't understand
Nobody would
Nobody gets it

So for now I stay in hiding
Under my hat, under my clothes
Until I don't want to hide
Until I want to be found

END

This wasn't one of my better ones. "Sal the bloody, 'cuz s/he's bloody awful at poetry." Also, this may or may not me my coming out poem. You decide. Another note, I kinda wrote this just now. *blushes a deep shade of red* I'm not too good at this stuff.

Alright, alright. It was my coming out poem. I'm gender fluid. There, I said it. I said it.

Alright, that last poem was pretty crappy. I'm sorry. I wrote it when I was really tired. I've written better ones since, but I'm not sure I'm ready to post them. Just...enjoy my first two poems. :)
